Migrate fm CS3 to CS6

I just signed up for the Cloud and downloaded the new Dreamweaver. Under Manage Sites the only import selection is for CS5. How do I migrate from CS3? Thanks,

Yes, exporting and importing site definitions should be automatic between versions. Always has been for me.
If not, you must manually export then import.
Dreamweaver's Batch Export (Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click to select multiple site definitions) has always been a non-intuitive procedure in the Site Manager.
I discovered it by accident several years ago but, time and again, I've seen on these forums that most people don't seem to be aware of it - probably because it's poorly documented and, every step of the way, the DW UI makes it less than obvious that it's possible.

Migrate from CS3 to CS6

I recently upgraded to CS6 Design Standard. I was told before purchase that CS3 documents would transfer seamlessly to CS6 ... however, that is not what is happening. When I try to open a CS3 InDesign document in CS6, it tells me I have a "corrupted database," and that I need to export the document out of CS3 (InDesign Interchange, I think) in order to open in CS6. I have like 10 years of documents that I need to access, and I can't resave every one in order to open them. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a workaround?

Exporting to INX should only be required to downgrade a document from CS6 to CS3 (so you can open a CS6 document in CS3).
CS6 should be able to open documents created in CS3 - without any special tricks required.

Both Indesign CS3 and CS6 installed on the same PC?

Is it possible to have two Indesign versions [CS3 and CS6] installed on one desktop PC [running Windows XP]?
I would only use one version at a time. The problem is I’ve been working with [and would like to continue working with] freelancers who still use CS3; but I’ll soon be hiring others who have migrated to CS6.

Thanks for the reply. I’m far from being a sophisticated user of Indesign. I do export .indd files to PDF on occasion. As for colors, I occasionally use the swatch tool, although I couldn’t tell you the difference between RGB and CYMK. Hopefully I could make adjustments to the CS3 version for any slight changes incurred by installing CS6 on the same PC.

Hi - for any photo, info in mountain lion shows a different file size than Photoshop does. I've tested with CS3 and CS6 and get the same problem. Doesn't happen with CS3 and OSX10.4 or any previous versions of Photoshop and OSX. Anyone know why?

this one is actually a really rare symptom of a flaky connection to the ipod on a Windows PC. there's more going on in terms of hardware on nanos and 5th gens than in the earlier models ... so if the connection is flaky to precisely the right/wrong degree, itunes will see the ipod, but misidentify it as an earlier version of ipod.
tracking down the cause of the flakiness can be tricky ... as you already know ...
just checking. have you tried connecting with a different (known-good) USB cable? does that seem to have any impact on the rate of occurence of the problem?

Problem with changing Label in Bridge CS3 and CS6

Hi there,
I am having some problem with changing Label in Bridge CS3 and CS6 in windows.
1. In Bridge CS3 (Windows XP), most of the time with most of the files, there is no problem. But I found that in some files, the Label does not get changed. I usually change Label by right clicking on the picture, then Label and select any Label. When I do so in those files, nothing happens. But when I rename the file by changing or adding just a single character, then it works. And if I again rename to original name, it still works. But without renaming the Label does not change. Again this does not happen with all pictures, but occationally with some. We usually receive pictures from different clients for editing purpose.
2. In Bridge CS6 (Windows 7), if you create lot of Path using Pen tool in Photoshop for the purpose of removing background, you save the file, close, and change Label in Bridge, again open the file in Photoshop, you see no Path in the Path Pallette. So that means, changing Label works, but it removes the Path from the file. But if there is small amount of path, then no prboblem. But if there is lot of path, like you need to create for a necklace to remove background, then the problem arises.
I am using Bridge for a purpose where it is very helpful so I really need to use Bridge, and Labeling feature is the most important to me, but after feaguring out this problem, I am really tensed as to whether or not I will find a solution to this. So any help, guidance will really be appreciated.

I have re-checked the issue and I found that the problem is with JPG file.
I wasn't even aware you could save a path to a jpeg file (always use PSD because of wanting to keep the Alpha Channel, jpeg only can contain 1 layer and no alpha channels and/or transparency).
However I tried it on a file with a simple path and one with a complex path. It seems indeed you have found a bug. The simple path is no problem but the more complex path is indeed disappearing.
It is not only label but also rate or adding IPTC in the description field. The moment metadata is saved to this jpeg file and reopened the earlier present work path of a more complex path is gone.
Despite the fact that to my opinion a jpeg is not the most suitable file format for saving a work path this should not happen. If a work path is saved to a jpeg then it should be kept saved after just altering metadata in Bridge.
It still is the same behavior in Bridge CC because that is what I use. Don't know when it started but it still needs to be repaired

A question about a difference between CS3 and CS6 (sorry if it's wrong addressed)

When I place in InDesign (both CS3 and CS6) a transparent tif image (CMYK) there is a difference between those created in Photoshop CS3 (correct) and CS6 (white background). Why?

I just purchased the upgrade from CS3 ti CS6 web and design premium MLP TLP.
Before to install I need to know if I can use both CS on the same Mac, to avoid problems with old files and be sure I could work.
Also I need to know if I can install CS6 on the two Mac internal hard drives, one with Snow Leopard MacOS (10.6.8) and one with the Lion MacOS (10.7.x). In some cases I must use Snow Leopard for compatibility issue with other software.

Installing on two partitions uses two activations, but can be done with no issue. There is no issue on running CS3 and CS6 on the same Mac. However, there is no guarentee that running CS3 on a newer machine will be totally error free. But I think for the most part you should be ok on Snow Leopard.

DV capture quality in CS3 vs CS6

I am capturing Hi8 & Digital8 footage via firewire. I recently purchased Premiere CS6 but I have an older computer that is running CS3. I would like to dedicate that PC to capturing several hundred hours of footage rather than tying up my current PC. Is there any quality difference capturing DV in CS3 vs CS6?

The model 55 is both one way only (to the computer) AND is not as good with older tapes
The higher models are, from what I have read, better with old tapes
If your tapes have "dropouts" you may need to use http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/ since I **think** PPro stops capturing when there is a signal drop

You may want to re-download the plugins from where you bought them and install them fresh for CS6. Or at a minimum check to see if new CS6 versions are available. The underlying architecture changed for plug-ins when CS6 was released. Some developers had to re-write CS6 versions. Some may work, while others may have had to be updated to work with CS6.

After my upgrade from CS3 to CS6, my after-market items are not showing up. (Kubota Action Dashboard, Totally Rad Actions RadLab...)
My inexperience assumed that the CS6 would overwrite the CS3 in the upgrade, but now I have two programs....one with my after-market products and one without.
Any help out there??

Upgrading from Photoshop CS3 to CS6

I am upgrading photoshop CS3 to CS6 on Windows 7.
I have downloaded two files: Photoshop 13_LS16.exe and Photoshop_LS167z.
However, it has not installed properly.
I can only open CS6 if I click on the LS167z file with (open with PS).
And although it opens I get the message: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
CS3 is still as it was.

Please repost in the Flash and Photoshop forums separately. The people who use those programs will be in the best position to help. My bet is that settings, preferences won't transfer. Actions and Plugins maybe. Plug-ins probably have to be updated for compatibility.
