Migrate from VSOM/VMS to standalone components

I have an existing site with several VMS servers, one of which also is running VSOM.
We are in the process of adding more VMS servers and will be moving VSOM to its own server.
Is there a way to migrate the VSOM server to is own server without having to recreate everything manually? I.E. could I back up VSOM on the old server and restore onto the new VSOM server?
Recreating 100+ users, having to get them to reset their passwords, recreating 50+ views and 300+ events is a way to guarantee we run into problems - plus the time it takes to do all of this manually.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Bob,
Yes, you can take a database backup from your current VSOM server and restore it on your new VSOM server. The backup will copy the complete VSOM database. And you would not need to recreate your information.
Take a look at the VSM Install/Upgrade guide for instructions on backing up and restoring VSOM server.

I work on a major application for a site using Alpha hardware, VMS operating System and Oracle RDB database (Forte 3.0.N.1)
I am interested in any experiences or plans anyone may have or be considering for migrating Forte applications from a similar environment.
This site has a current "Microsoft" policy, where this particular environment is a "legacy exception", but I'm wondering how/whether .NET and MS Server on Intel would handle the signficant amount of work done. Its good that you have brought this discursion again. There were some of the discursion here on the similar topic and I see most of the Migration are driven by the company policies towards Microsoft or SUN.
And other major criteria such are Existing hardware, since most of Forte Applications are on SUN boxes and due to market downtime and reluctant to consider total change in Hardware and other aspects, most of the applications are getting Migrated to J2EE. (As said by other �It�s a kind of compulsion than choice�)
But since, you have company policy of �Microsoft�, It would be really good to explore all the Architecture intricacies.
Major one being the platform dependency and your other existing software that are currently supporting your Forte applications (If they are UNIX based).
Other than that, I see .Net supporting most of the features currently supported by Forte / J2EE. And my personal option is that �C# is the best thing Microsoft has done in the language arena�.
And most of the other factors such as Industry Involvement, Legacy Integration and Backwards Compatibility, Rapid Application Development, Pros and Cons of Single Vendor Solutions, Platform Maturity, Language Factor, Portability Factor, Web Services Support, Tools, Hardware Costs, Performance and Developer Empowerment holds good for .Net Environment Also.

Migrating from ICM scripts to CVP-VXML Apps

Good day all.
Currently we are running on:
ICM 7.2
CVP 4.1
CUCM 6.
Call flow: using ICM-Script Editor
Applications: Using apps deployed on CVP-VXML server. they are called in ICM scripts.
Well my dilemma is this. We have planned to move all call flows from ICM-Scripts to Call Studio based apps/Scripts.
Now I have studied Call studio and VXML flows, and know that CallStudio/VXML scripts can be run directly from Gateway->ICM->CVP/VXML or in the traditional way called in ICM script.
If we deploy a full Standalone model with ICM lookup (no ICM scripts involved) then how is call queing for SkillGroups/agent transfers handled? do call studio based scripts have the capability, or will we have to include ICM scripts for this?
Secondly, when migrating from ICM scripts to Standalone+ICm lookup model, the current gateway configurations (ie apps, Dial plan and Dial plan to script matching for EACH dialed number) will have to be reconfigured? So as the Dialled number will directly translate to the IVR menu on VXML script?
Need expert inputs on this.

Hi Asif,
When you use the CVP as Standalone model, its purely for SelfService, Queuing is not possible even if you use Standalone with ICM Lookup. There is no concept of SkillGroups using CVP as Standalone
After the self service treatment is done, you can either transfer the call to CUCM or TDMACD
If you need queuing, you have to go for Comprehensive model.
If you want to go for a StandAlone Model, You will need to configure the Application Name, VxmlServer everything in the Gateway. Have a look at the config guide for CVP Standalone section

Migrating from standalone ITS to internal ITS u0096 copy existing templates

Dear Sirs,
I am in the process of migrating from Standalone ITS to the internal one. I have found several documents on the issue and the help section for the migration, http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cd/8a424089ff2571e10000000a155106/content.htm
Currently I am using a standalone ITS server, 6.20 PL13, to access/run IAC components on ERP2004 server ZXY. In the new setup I wan to run the internal ITS on server ZXY instead.
I have however a question regarding the process. Step one in the process is to Copy the existing templates.
If I enter the transaction SE80, I am not able to see all of the IAC component names which are referenced in my portal iViews. I therefore assume that the ones which does not show up, has not been converted properly.
I therefore go into transaction SIAC1 to look for them there (as described in ITS New storage structures as of Web SAP AS 6.40, 678904), but I am however unable to find them there either.
Do I have to go the current ITS server and somehow copy the files/IAC manually (save on disk), and then upload then with SIAC_UPLOAD (from se38) onto the R/3 system. Or do they exist already on my R/3 system just that they arent shown?
Could a solution be that the name of the IAC component in the portal iview, differs from the name actually used in the R/3 system.
Any pointers or hints on this issue are appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. But I have already published the services internally and actually have used the 'webgui' service successfully. What I am trying to do now is to copy the custom services (there are only 2) to the integrated ITS from my standalone ITS server.

Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 migrate from standalone to cluster - no starting

we have migrated our Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 UR1 installatin from a standalone machine to a clustered version.
But now the cluster instance won't startup.
- uninstall the standalone virtual machine manager 2012 with the retain database option.
- created failover cluster
- installed vmm into cluster and pointed to existing database.
- added second node

nope, we solved it.
It seems that this behavior occurs only under special circumstances.
Scenario is:
1. RDP Gateway connection to our Hyper-V Hosts (We need it for our Windows Azure Pack installation). A certificate is needed to encrypt the connection between RDPGW and Hyper-V host. This certificate is distributed by the VMM to the Hyper-V Hosts with the
private key.
2. Migrating from standalone installation to High Availability therefore migrating from DPAPI to DKM
It looks like that the key or the password to unencrypt the private key, which is stored in the database, is itself stored in the DPAI/DKM.
So when you try to get the migrated Service online the error report in my first post is generated.
What we did was fiddeling around in the database. Make sure you have a backup !!
You need two tables:
tbl_ADHC_Host
tbl_VMM_CertificateStore
1. Go to the table "tbl_ADHC_Host" and edit the key fk_ADHC_Host_VMM_CertificateStore and set "Enfore Foreign Key Constraint" to "No".
2. get the value "VMConnectCertficateID" from the table "tbl_ADHC_Host"
3. Go to the table "tbl_VMM_CertificateStore" and delete the Certficate with the value which equals the "VMConnectCertificateID". Note: Corresponding Certificate in the CErtificatestore table should have something in the column "PrivatekeyPassword"
and an ObjectType of 6.
4. The service should now start and you can reconfigure the certificate used for the encryption between your RDPGW and Hyper-V Hosts, like you did before.
5. Go to the table "tbl_ADHC_Host" and edit the key fk_ADHC_Host_VMM_CertificateStore and set "Enfore Foreign Key Constraint" back to "Yes".

the migration.

Migrated from iMac to new iMac, CS5.5 missing components

Hi,
I'm being asked to reinstall Photoshop CS5.5 because "some of the application components missing from the Application directory" after I Migrated from an older iMac to a new one. Also InDesign is quitting unexpectedly, with no other message than "send to Apple."
I can't seem to figure out how to download the program again from Adobe to fix this. I bought CS5.5 in February 2012 and selected the "download only" feature, which I hope I am not going to regret. It should have been easy to find a way to download it again and deactivate the old computer (I have another older iMac I'm keeping activated).
Where can I download the CS5.5 that I bought less than 9 months ago? I don't want to upgrade to 6.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing. We're talking about "live-migration" not VM conversion from one hypervisor to another, like a VM from VMWare or XenServer to a VM on Hyper-V, right?
As mentioned above, when a VM is
live-migrated from one Hyper-V host to another, nothing changes. Bios does not change. A
Gen1 VM with traditional BIOS firmware will not turn into a Gen2 machine with UEFI firmware for example.
Boot loader will not change when a VM is live-migrated from one Hyper-V host to another.
MAC address on VM NICs will change when a VM is live-migrated from one Hyper-V host to another, unless the VM NIC is configured with a static MAC address. A Changed MAC address will be interpreted by the VM as a new NIC, which will lose its old IP settings.
Stopping and restarting a VM on the same Hyper-V host changes nothing about the VM synthetic hardware such as NICs, BIOS firmware, or its internal startup files like boot loader.
Stopping a VM, and restarting it on another Hyper-V host changes nothing except the VM NIC's MAC address if it is configured to have a dynamic MAC address as described above.

Migrating to a single instance will be the simplest. The migration itself will not be much different between the two because you're migrating from one platform to another. The options you have available are, the traditional IMP/EXP, datapump, and RMAN to migrate to either a standalone or RAC environment. The difficulty will be in creating a RAC environment and a little a few extra steps in the RMAN restore. Working with RAC will make things harder, but the actual migration is similar. The steps to IMP/EXP, whether it's traditional or Datapump will be no different. However, standing up a RAC database will be.

But, in the pam matrix say that support for 9.2.
I confused for the information.
2.- In the case that is not necessary to migrate to oracle 10, i can execute the migration to 64 bits the SAP 4.7 with the procedure Backup/Restore?
I don´t have the new server, the server for the migration is the same. The procedure you want to follow is:
1.- Backup Offline all server.
2.- Delete the server, i install the server on Windows 2003 64 bits.
3.- Install SAP 4.7 on kernel 64 bits.
4.- Restore de backup offline (only data): datafiles, archive log, redo log.

Hi,
According to Note:814834
#Note that there is currently no 64-bit support for the x86_64 platform
for Oracle 9.2 because Oracle does not provide a 64-bit DB client for this purpose,
and, in addition, 64-bit operation of the DB server is not supported.
This means that this DB version can only be used in conjunction with SAP components on
Windows 32-bit on x86_64 hardware in 32-bit mode.
For more information, refer to the "Oracle" section in the note.
Furthermore, it states 32bit SAP instance can connect ot a 32 bit Oracle 9.2 or 10.2 database instance.
So for your case, its better to upgrade your current database to Oracle 10.2 and then proceed with migration.

I have never worked with 9.2.0.3 (only with 9.3.1-11.x). Now I must prepare technical description of migration process.
We need to migrate our financial management applications, data, reports ( Financial and Interactive Reporting), users and provisions
I don't ask you about detailed step by step instructions. Just about main ideas or pointing to some guides, scripts, best practice about which files to copy, which migration wizards to use, etc.
Also, I'd like to know if this would be a "clear" migration or I need to do some additional "upgrades" for my applications/reports to new version.
This question is quite urgent for me

As I understand I must migrate my applications (cubes)
so I should create a new app in 11.x with the same name, copy/replace .rul,.otl,.db,.dbb,.csc files from the existing application from 9.2.0.3 to 11.x
To migrate data I use Administration Services for export/import data
To migrate users I can use CSSImportExportUtility or using LCM
To migrate Reports: export all the reports and import them
Please, tell me if I missed or confused something

MacBook Pro 2011 - Migrated from MBP that had Flash but now it won't work

Does anyone else have a solution to this issue that does not involve doing a fresh install of Snow Leopard? There was another thread in this forum where the OP indicated that they did a fresh install of SL and that solved the issue. However, that solution is not acceptable to me.
I did a system migration from a Time Machine backup (from my old MBP which was also running 10.6.6) when I purchased my new 2011 MacBook Pro last week. All my applications seemed to be working normally until I attempted to watch a YouTube video in either Safari or Chrome. In both browsers, all I get is a black screen where the video should be playing.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of the Flash Player for Safari and I am not able to manually update the Flash Player for Chrome since that browser keeps the Flash Player up-to-date automatically. The black screen persists when attempting to watch a video on YouTube. I cleared the site cache for the Flash Player just in case something was buggy there, but the problems remains.
The last thing I tried was to remove Flash Player for Safari entirely by running the Adobe Flash Player Install Manager and choosing "Uninstall." I then re-installed Flash Player but the problem persists.
Finally, I am not running any third-party firewall software. When I right-click on a YouTube video, the menu says "Movie not loaded..."
Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Created a new user account on the machine and the problem remained when logged in as the new user.
For giggles, I decided to try to pull up a YouTube video on my wife's 2010 MBP. She hasn't been complaining that she was unable to load content. I was astonished to find that Safari on her laptop is exhibiting the same issues that mine is when going to YouTube in Chrome or Safari. . .black screen where the video should be.
I know I haven't changed any configurations on our router, so I doubted that was the culprit. I can't imagine that an ISP would block YouTube, of all things. To rule these things out, I went back to my laptop and tethered it to my 3G smartphone. Still, even using the cell network, YouTube videos are "blacked out."
Also, I run several VMs, so I tried loading YouTube in Chrome and IE in Windows 7 and they both exhibit the same problem. At this point, I'm dumbfounded that both mine and my wife's MacBook Pros have the same problem when connecting to different networks and the problems persist across OS'es.
Any other suggestions you can think of aside from making a trip to the Apple Store?

WSDL Migration from 7.0 to 7.3

We have requirement for migrating the WSDL from 7.0 server to 7.3.
I took the 7.0 WSDL and imported in NWDS 7.3 to check and fix errors. But i didnt any face any error.
I tried to generate client and deploy the imported WSDL. But i throwed " "java.lang.*" packages are not allowed in JAX-WS proxy generation" error.
I followed these steps to import and deploy WSDL.
Create Standalone java project.
Import the WSDL to java project
Created Enterprise Application Project and added above java project as refernce to it.
Right Click WSDL in java project and generate client keep the slighter in deploy mode.
I tried creating web project and imported WSDL. Both type of project doesnt throw any error during bulid time but when we try to deploy i face the error.
Can any one guide me the steps to migrate WSDL developed in 7.0 version to 7.3?

We exactly have the same problem, I hope we'll find the solution
working together.
What we did was first de-install Oracle V7.0 version under V7.0
After that we installed V7.3.4, then migrated the data with the
migration utility provided with.To execute applications developed
with Forms 3 we re-installed it.
Everything seems to work except the Triggers and the Relink
action, a similar problem occured during the installation of the
old tools (Error in Action Relink SQL* Executables, command was
make -f)
The operating system is AIX Version 4.3.1. We intend to go to 8i
but for financial reasons, we first want to be year 2000
compliant. You know migrating to 8i also involve the replacement
of all our passive terminals with PCs.

TLF components in order to support bi-di? Can’t I just set
some new properties and re-compile my application?

For Flex 4, in addition to developing new "Gumbo" components
which have an improved skinning architecture and use TLF, the Flex
team is also planning to make it possible to have a few TLF
features such as bidirectional text in some or perhaps all of the
Halo components from Flex 3. These components currently use a
Player class known as TextField. A class called TLFTextField is
being developed which uses TLF to implement the same APIs as
TextField, and therefore can replace TextField in the Halo
components.
This work is underway but not yet complete. Only a few
components are currently working with this approach and there is no
way at the moment to turn on bidirectionality. We are also starting
to develop a UI-mirroring feature to allow the entire user
interface -- not just the text -- to become right-to-left.
So what you need -- the ability to write Arabic and Hebrew
applications using only legacy Halo components -- is planned for
Flex 4.

Migration from Flex 3 to Flex 4

I've migrated my project from flex 3 to flex 4 and all it's ok, the new project work fine.
But I created my custom TitleWindow MX style and I created a swc library from Flash builder 4, all it's ok.
When I use my custom TitleWindow in new project (compatible with mx+spark) it work fine when I add only mx component, when I add a <s:TextArea> for example, it throw this error in run-time: Skin for ForumTitleWindow1220.boxMessaggioInput.TextArea1227 cannot be found.
where ForumTitleWindow1220 and boxMessaggioInput are my instance.
in particolar the error is "throw(new Error(resourceManager.getString("components", "skinNotFound", [this])));"
in SkinnableComponent to line 698.
