Is it possible to use the migration tool to export objects from an ALUI 6.0 portal and import them into a WCI 10g portal?

No, migration needs to happen between same versions. You'll need to upgrade your first 6.0 instance to 10g then migrate objects from there to your other 10g instance.

Check whether the metadata for the particular adapter in the BASIS SWCV exists or not.

Migrating objects from PS8.0 to PS9.0

If I want to migrate some of my objects from PS8.0 to PS 9.0 what would be or what alternatives are there to make this happen?
Would I have to recreate my objects in 9.0 from scratch or is there an easier way to migrate?

1. If the objects are created by developers then it is better to migrate the objects as it as to higher versions.
2. It is always better to upgrade project by project, take for an example you have a project XYZ in 8.0 version with 10 objects.
a. If 2 objects are newly created by developers then those need to be migrated to 9.0
as it is.
b. If the objects are delivered objects then first you need to compare two applications
and generate compare report.
c. After generating the reports, you need to analyze the report and based on your
analysis you need to retrofit the customizations according to your requirements.

It would be a good idea to specify the version you are using.
The general plan can be the following:
A. On source db:
1. Generate scripts for the tablespaces where the schema you want to export has segments (again use toad or ther tools)
2.Generate scripts for the schema you want to export (use toad, dbms_metadata or other tools)
3. Generate scripts for system grants, system roles, privileges you have on objects owned by sys, system, quotas on tablespaces
4. If the schema has grants on sys objects that are not part of the default oracle install but were created later and are specific to that particular db (not a good practice, but it can hapen) and your application is dependent on them, generate scripts for them also (I have come across types owned by sys, when migrating an application with Websphere AS)
5. export schema using exp owner=<SCHEMA_NAME>
6. generate scripts for public synonyms and grants to public on object schema
B. On target db.
1. create tablespaces with generated scripts from A.1.
2. create schema with generated scripts from A.2.
3. grant all privileges from A.3.
4. if non default objects on sys needed, create them with scripts from A.4., grant privileges on these objects
5. imp with option fromuser=<SCHEMA_NAME> touser=<SCHEMA_NAME>
6. create public synonyms, grants from A.6.
7. check jobs - if you import with sys or system user, jobs will be imported under this users; drop jobs nad recreate jobs under your schema

Migration objects from 3.5 to 7.0

Hello experts,
if in an upgrade scenario I decide to mantain in 3.5 version some objects (infosources, update rules, etc.), when I decide to migrate them to BI 7.0 version, and I do it in development environment, there is the possibility to transport this "switch" with a change request or I must do the same operation in target environment (quality and/or production)?

You dont have to perform the same operation in QA or production .. .SAP recomands to transport the changes rather than doing it all over again..You should transport the changes ..

Migrating objects from BO 4.0 to Bo 4.1

Hi,
We are getting problem in migrating the contents from BO 4.0 to Bo 4.1 as the old environment has BODS
and the new environment doesn’t have it. We are using promtion management and export/import LCMBIAR file.
If securiuty is selected we get an error.
SAP has suggested the below note:
1918080 - When trying to import an LCMBIAR file from Production to Test server it fails with
"AjaxRequestThrowsError :True"
Could you please let us know your views on the doing the below options to resolve the error.
Uninstall BODS from BO 4.0 and install it as a separate CMS.
OR
Add BODS in BO 4.1also.

Hi,
While migrating using promotion management, you can select manually which applications you need. One option is to avoid including DS while doing the promotion. Have you tried that?
Do you need BODS? If so, Instead of uninstalling BODS in 4.0, it would be ideal to install BODS 4.1 in CMS.

If you are talking about changing the connection / source target database in multiple environments, you can have multiple data store configurations.
You can right click a data store, Edit , Advanaced , Edit. At the top, you have Duplicate configuration / Create New configuration.
Create multiple configurations as per multiple environments and set the Default to "Yes" as per your environment.
For migrating jobs from one repository to another.
In Designer, go to Tools>Export
In to the "Objects to Export" window, drag and drop the objects that you want to export from the "Local Object Library".
Right click on the export window and choose Export. Give the database credentials of the Target Repository (repository into which you want to export the objects). Click Next, change the Target status of the dependent objects to "Exclude" if you do not want to migrate them.

Q1) In this juncture, to take the current stcok, Do we have any report which extract directly list of BW objects which are still not optimized for HANA.
Q2) How to get list of tables not yet fully loaded into Memory [or] How to get list of Infocubes & DSO's not yet fully loaded into main memeory
Q3) When we optimize objects - The size in memeory & persistance store - Size is increasing - Is it normal behaviour ?

Please check m_cs_tables to know which tables are loaded to memory and which are not.(Refer to LOADED column).

Please check the Delta memory and perform Delta Merge. Please search on SCN to get the details on the same.

This is for the first time that i am trying to migrate odi objects from one environment to another. I am facing issue and requesting help.
The odi installation is the part of ASCP module of JDEdwards where some standard objects (interfaces/packages) are already created. I have developed some custom interfaces and want to migrate the same to QA environment.
I exported the specific folder (including children) to an xml file and then trying to import the same in the QA environment.
When i choose "Synonym Insert_Update" option to import is prompts error :
You are importing an object from another repository with same identifier. This is forbidden
This is completely new folder which do not exist on target. If I import using Duplication option, it successfully import and assigns new internal ID to object (which is as expected). But how will I update the newly created object in future ?
What should be followed to migrate objects ?

Migrating Content from a Custom ASP Page to a SharePoint Page Layout. Includes object tags to flash CSS images

Hi Guys,
I'm currently getting issues when trying to migrate content from ASP Pages used in a custom intranet developed by a client to SharePoint Pages.
My current strategy to do so is as per below:
a. Create ASPX Pages in Page Library with SharePoint Designer
b. Copy all common resource files needed by the pages within the Pages library. Includes folders for Javascript, CSS, images etc. This way relative address of resources in pages will pick up pages library as default folder
for resources.
c. Copy Source Code of Page from Browser by right-clicking ‘View Page Source’/ Copy code from .asp file
d. Clean the code to remove unnecessary codes from SharePoint Pages.
At this point page renders without SharePoint Branding.
However if I apply SharePoint Master Page onto the ASPX page by using Style > Attach > Default Master Page, this generates an Error when the page renders.
What is missing in this approach or what would be the best approach to migrate the page to SharePoint without code solution?

Hi Rhyan,
As I understand, you want to create a custom application page in SharePoint 2013.
If you copy the code in the asp page to aspx page, it cannot work. You should write the new code that can work in the asp file for the SharePoint aspx page.

You can create a web application page in the visual studio. You also can explicitly change which master page is used by the application page by setting the MasterPageFile attribute of the application Page element. (For example: MasterPageFile="~/_layouts/applicationv4.master").

Copying objects from Illustrator CS3 to FreeHand 11.0.2

Working on a Mac in OSX 10.4.11, I was able to select and copy objects in an open Illustrator CS2 file and paste them into an open FreeHand 11.0.2 file, where they would be fully editable. After migrating to OSX 10.6.2 and upgrading to CS3, this no longer works - the objects selected and copied from Illustrator either do not appear (only corner indicators are visible) or a pale version appears as an uneditable low-rez image with funny colors....
Because there are so many missing features in Illustrator, it's important for me to be able to work back and forth between the two apps. Has anyone been able to achieve this (formerly) simple interactivity?

it should paste just fine. It works well for me.
Worked for me too, although text was not imported as editable text. To do
that had to special paste the text separately as unformatted text, and then
reformat in FH.

Migrating portal from 10g to 11g

Hi,
We are in the process of upgrading oracle mid tier from 10gAS to OFMW 11g and also migrating it from Solaris to Linux.
With regard the portal migration from OAS 10g to OFMW 11g
1) Is it possible to migrate portal objects from 10g (solaris) to a new install of OFMW portal 11g(linux) directly OR do we have to upgrade the existing OAS 10g to OFMW portal 11g (on Solaris) and then migrate the portal objects to OFMW Portal 11g (on Linux)
I am new to portal migration. Any suggestions and additional details would be appreciated.

Migration + upgrade in one shot is do-able, because upgrade will require a sequence of processes but they will be mostly based on repository upgrade, and hence will be transparent to the OS you are using.
However, in practice, the standard rule-of-thumb is that you avoid dealing with multiple layers of complications in a single shot. That means, you break complications in such steps where you could recognize the sources of any later errors/problems you encounter.

How to only migrate data from SQL Server 2008 to Oracle 11?

According to our requirement, We need to only migrate data from a SQL Server database to an existed
Oracle database user.
1) I tried to do it with SQL Developer 3.0.04 Migration Wizard, But find an issue.
My SQL Server database name is SCDS41P2, and my Oracle database user name is CDS41P2;
When I used SQL Developer to do offline move data by Migration Wizard, I found all oracle user
name in movedata files which gotten by run Migration Wizard
is dbo_SCDS41P2. If the Oracle user name is not the same as my existed Oracle user name,
the data can't be moved to my existed Oracle user when I run oracle_ctl.bat in command line window.
So I had to modify the Oracle user name in all movedata files, but it's difficult to modify them because there are many tables in
databases. So could you please tell me how to get the movedata files which the oracle user name in them is my
expected Oracle user name?
2) I also tried to use the 'copy to Oracle' function to copy the SQL Server database tables data
to the existed Oracle database user. When clicked 'copy to Oracle', I selected 'Include Data' and 'Replace' option
But I found some tables can't be copied, the error info is as below:
Table SPSSCMOR_CONTROLTABLE Failed. Message: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object
Could you please tell me how to deal with this kind of error?

Thanks for you replying. But the 'copy to oracle' function still can't be work well. I will give some info about the table. I also search 'SPSSCMOR_CONTROLTABLE' in the target schema, and only find one object. So why say 'name is already used by an existing object'? Could you please give me some advice? Thanks!
