Hi mates,
I´m going to migrate OCS 2007 to Lync 2010. OCS 2007 is in Spanish language and Lync 2010 will be installed in English.
Is it a problem?? Is possible migrate from Spanish to English??
Thanks.

Hi,
As I know, you can't migration OCS 2007 to Lync server 2010 with different languages.

  • Topology Merge Failing between OCS 2007 and Lync 2010

A brief about the issue. I read
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412949.aspx which tells to run
Set-CsSipDomain -Identity fabrikam.com -IsDefault $True to make additional domain as default domain.
Want to know the exact procedures before I need to follow without affecting the existing set up before merging the topology again.
We have OCS 2007 in production where abc.company.com is primary sip domain and company.com is additional sip domain.
Recently installed Lync 2010 with primary sip domain as company.com and abc.company.com as additional sip domain.
Tried to merge both the topology after installing CU and OCS backward compatibility tool on Lync 2010 and it ended up with below error.
System.Management.Automation.CmdletInvocationException: The value of default domain in “Office Communications Server 2007” / “Office Communications Server 2007 R2” is “abc.company.com”. The value of default domain in Lync Server 2010
is “Company.com”. These values need to be equal before you continue merging the topology.

Run on the Lync Front End
    Set-CsSipDomain -Identity abc.company.com -IsDefault $True
This won't impact any existing users on Lync tied to company.com sip address space.
Then launch the Lync Topology builder again, you should see the updated default SIP domain.
Run the OCS Merge again, after decommissioning OCS switch the primary domain back to company.com (if you switch the sip domain prior to decommission and need to run merge again, you'll have to set-cssipdomain)

    Hi,
I am looking for migration approach from OCS 2007 (not OCS 2007 r2) to Lync 2013 for 4000 users. as per the MS technet its not supported. has anyone tried and tested if yes please provide the steps and risk involved. thanks

    Hi Nmits,
Since it is not supported to migration from OCS 2007 to Lync server 2013 directly, you have two ways to complete the migration process:
Migration from OCS 2007 to OCS 2007 R2 first, then migration from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync server 2013.
Migration from OCS 2007 to Lync server 2010 first, then migration from Lync server 2010 to Lync server 2013.

  • Migrating Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 at a different physical location - Suggestions??

Hello! I have a domain in Canada that is running Exchange 2007. My company wants to consolidate this Exchange and migrate the mail to the USA based Exchange 2010 in NYC. Not only is it migrating from 2007 to 2010, it's also moving locations physically.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to best approach such a situation?

ok... in addition to sarvesh comments i would also add a checklist based approach .. please follow below link

  • Migrating Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010; initial backup slow...

Just migrated about 300 Exchange 2007 mailboxes to Exchange 2010 database.  Temporarily using Windows Server Backup for Server 2008 R2 to backup the databases to a remote storage.  Initial full backup of the database is taking longer than 24 hours
for a 235 GB database and what is now 334,000 log files...as a result of the migration.  Seems like a long time.
I tested network connectivity to and from the SAN, and the Exchange server and there are no server or disk I/O issues.  Server is running 16 cores and 48 GB RAM.  Is this normal for it to take this long to run through the consistency checks and
backups for this amount of data?

  • Mixed environment migration (OCS\Lync 2010 to Lync 2013) retaining BES Integration

    Hi All,
I have an existing OCS 2007R2 and Lync 2010 environment which contains BES Collaboration for Enterprise IM on Blackberry devices. I want to migrate this environment to Lync 2013 whilst retaining the BES integration. Understanding that tri-existence is not supported
I've been going through the process of decommissioning all of my legacy OCS servers, which I have now completed, in readiness for starting the Lync 2013 deployment and prepping AD.
Here's my issue - The BES collaboration service was integrating with an old OCS CWA server. I removed the CWA server and migrated the Collaboration service to a new server so that I could configure it to directly communicate directly with the Lync 2010 pool,
however I still needed to install OCS components on the new server in order to achieve that integration. Now I've run the final step of Merging the OCS 2007R2 Topology with the Lync 2010 topology in preparation for deleting the BackCompatSite, the old OCS
servers have gone, but the new Collaboration server has now appeared as a trusted application server within the BackCompatSite. I've done an LDIFDE export of the RTC Service container and have had a look through the contents. I can see that the new BES Collaboration
server is there and that it has an msRTCSIP-TrustedServerVersion value of 4, whereas all the Lync 2010 values are 5, which I'm guessing is what the Lync Topology is using to establish that the BackCompatSite needs to be populated with that Trusted Server entry.
So my question is this - What do I need to do in order to successfully remove the BackCompatSite entry and migrate my environment to Lync 2013 whilst retaining integration with BES and keeping the Enterprise IM service service running on Blackberry devices?
Here's some options that I've thought about - Using ADSIEdit to remove the Trusted Server Application for the new BES Collaboration server so I can merge the Topology and delete the BackCompatSite, although will this break the Enterprise IM service? Temporarily
changing the value of the msRTCSIP-TrustedServerVersion for the Collaboration server from 4 to 5, merging the Topology, deleting the BackCompatSite and then changing the msRTCSIP-TrustedServerVersion back to 4 afterwards? Over a weekend\out of hours, removing
the BES Collaboration server and service altogether, going through the Topology merge\BackCompatSite deletion and then reinstalling the Collaboration service?
Has anyone else gone through this process, or got any advice\experience to pass on before I start working through my list of options?

I've asked this question several times:
Does the 2007 R2 CWA server count as tri-coexistence?
I've asked that both in MCM rotations and directly of people on the PG and the answer is always something along the lines of "nope, it's a trusted app server and not a pool".  When I've run into this issue in other deployments, we simply left the backcompatsite
    in the deployment into production.
I've never found the above as a publically approved statement just something I've asked previously and been told is OK to do.  This is one of those situations that will work but was most likely not tested.

  • Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010 migration

    Hi,
Does Microsoft recommends/support below techniques for SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010 migration?
Migrate SharePoint 2007 site to 2010 using save list as template technique: I use this technique. I have to delete all look up columns and add them again. Because I deleted all look up columns, I lost data of those columns. I am not able to update these
columns data using spreadsheet view copy and paste as those are look up columns. Please tell me what is the easy way to update these look up columns data. After I move it production again I have to do incremental update.
Migrate SharePoint 2007 site to 2010 using an Access table technique: This technique does not support all data types.
Migrate SharePoint 2007 site to 2010 using Power Shell STSADM command: As in my site there are some customization I am not able to migrate site using STSADM command. It is giving me errors.
    Thanks,
    Amit Khatri

    hi
mentioned techniques can be used for copying the data across different web apps/farms within the same Sharepoint version (i.e. from SP2007 to SP2007 or from SP2010 to SP2010, but not from SP2007 to SP2010). If you need to perform upgrade from SP2007 to SP2010
    you have 2 ways:
    - in-place upgrade
    - db attach upgrade

  • Questions on Lync 2010 to 2013 Addressbook Migration

    Hi Team,
We are in the process of migrating the users from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 pilot pool.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205160.aspx
According to the above article, basically the Lync Server 2010 Address Book is migrated along with the rest of your topology and don’t have to worry about the post migration steps if we don’t have customized settings such as GAL partition (By setting
up an attribute ‘msRTCSIP-GroupingID’), customized AB normalization rules and customized phone normalization rules.
    Questions:
    1. How do we confirm that there is no customized settings of phone normalization, AB normalization and GAL partition in the existing Lync 2010 environment?
    2. Is there any powershell command to validate the current Lync 2010 settings?
    Please advise.
    Many Thanks.

The grouping ID is not something you'd normally put in.  If all users can search for and see all other users, you'd be fine.
For the AB normalization look for Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt in your Lync file share in
X-WebServices-X\ABFiles (replace the X with whatever you see).  If you have one, you could copy it over to your new Lync 2013 file share.  This file is for normalizing phone numbers found in AD.  To validate current settings, you can run
the BPA http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4750 but if you're moving away from it, I wouldn't kill myself resolving issues.  From PowerShell, there
are many things you could validate, is there something specific you're worried about?

  • Remove bad dll reference after content data migration sharepoint 2007 - sharepoint 2010

I have 400 subsites under one root site and we need to remove one DLL reference from default.aspx Home page of each sub site.
    Assmbly ref like this.
    <%@ Register TagPrefix="WpNs0" Namespace="DS.DSQueryWebPart" Assembly="DS.DSQueryWebPart, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=709ed70a96eaa5cb"%>
This assmebly is not used anywhere .
This assembly is reflecting in subsite default.aspx after the content database migration sharepoint 2007 to sharepoint 2010.
Is there any way we can remove this bad reference through database query or any other way around
    sarav

    Hi,
If are sure that this is the only customization in the default.aspx page, then you can safely  go into Site Settings -> Site Actions -> Reset to site definition -> Select Reset specific page to site definition version and enter the default.aspx
page url. This will replace the customized page with the original site definition page. The process can be automated using PowerShell/C# Code. Here is an example:
using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://aissp2013/sites/Team/"))
       foreach(SPWeb web in site.AllWebs)
      using(web)
      SPFile file = web.GetFile(web.Url + "/default.aspx");
      if (file.Exists)
      file.RevertContentStream();
The main part here is to get hold of the default.aspx file and use RevertContentStream() to reset it to site definition page.
However, if there are other customizations as well, then you will need to get hold of the Project or WSP file and remove the reference there and then run update-spsolution powershell command to update to new WSP.
    Thanks,

  • Upgrade 2003 R2 Domain Schema containing OCS 2007 R2 to 2012 R2 schema

    Hi all,
I'm planing to upgrade my 2003 R2 forest to 2012 R2 schema version. I have OCS 2007 R2 and Exchange 2010 SP3 installed in the forest. I think there will be no issue for exchange after upgrade, but i'm worring about OCS 2007 R2.
Can experts provide me more details about upgrade domain containig OCS 2007 R2 to Directory Service 2012 R2 ?
    Many thanks.
    Mustapha.
    Mustapha EL HACHIMI

    Thanks,
But, the article doesn't mention compatibility with 2012 r2.
I did a test in a lab. It shows that ocs 2007 R2 is not supported in 2012 R2 AD.
So before you upgrade your forest to 2012 R2, upgrade OCS 2007 to LYNC 2013 and then remove OCS from the forest.
Microsoft says not supporting OCS 2007 in a domain 2012 R2 and also you can't install OCS 2007 in a 2012 R2 server.
Hope this can everybody planning to upgrade ad containing OCS to 2012 R2.

  • OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2013 migration – The new environment will be in a completely different forest with Lync 2013.

    Hi All,
Need help - we are planning to migrate around 14000 ~ 16000 users from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2013 environment -
issues are - the new Lync 2013 environment will be in a new forest and sip address will not change.
Considering the same - I understand we don't have any option other than going for a cut-over.
please help me to understand how can I move the user's contact and other configurations from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2013.
    Thanking you
    Maz

    Hi,
It is indeed a clean cut over. BIG BANG.
You export all users from your OCS environment. All scheduled live meetings will need to be rescheduled because Lync Server 2013 doesn't support Live Meetings anymore.
I would export, convert and import all users like this:
    Dbimpexp.exe /hrxmlfile:"C:\Logs\Lync2010data.xml" /sqlserver:Sql.contoso.com\rtc
    Convert-CsUserData -InputFile "C:\Logs\Lync2010data.xml" -OutputFile "C:\Logs\Lync2013Data.Zip" -TargetVersion Current
    Import-CsUserData -PoolFqdn "atl-cs-001.litwareinc.com" -FileName "C:\Logs\Lync2013Data.Zip"
Don't use Import-CsUserData twice, but use Update-CsUserData the second time if needed.
    Have fun!

  • Re-routing Edge servers from OCS 2007 R2 to LYNC 2010

We have LYNC 2010 Enterprise pool with merged topology with OCS 2007 R2 Pool, using OCS 2007 R2 Edge servers. We would like to move onto LYNC 2013 and here i have some questions on Edge servers.
    1. Once I migrate all users, can i keep OCS 2007 R2 Edge servers and decommission OCS 2007 R2 pool to setup LYNC 2013 Pool? ( we have 3 Front end servers and 3 CWA servers in OCS 2007 R2 pool).
Can i use OCS 2007 R2 edge servers for LYNC 2010 and LYNC 2013 Pools for federation and remote access?
    Thanks for your help.
    Tek-Nerd

I've seen OCS 2007 R2 servers work for Lync 2013 internal users with some limitations.  I'm not sure what would happen if you decommission the OCS front end.  However, why not upgrade the edge as well?

  • Migration to Lync 2013 from OCS 2007 R2 - queries

We are currently running OCS 2007 R2 across Citrix Presentation server 4.5 and Desktops using just IM functionality.  We are looking to upgrade to LYNC 2013 for IM and to start using Group Chat.  We currently have a Physical OCS front end server,
a physical server running SQL for the DB's and then a physical server running the Archive OCS component.
How easy is this to do?  Would we keep the same Pool name?
Can the OCS client be used to connect to Lync 2013?
Can we move the physical servers into VM's?  Do we need 3 or can we have all on one VM now?
The SQL DB part can this now be hosted on a stand alone SQL cluster in its own instance if required?
LYNC IM and Group Chat client - is it supported to run on Citrix Presentation server 6.5?
    Is a Schema Update required?
Are there any good walk throughs on the internet just covering IM and Group chat migrations etc as from what I have been seeing there are some out there but have voice in them as well.
    Thanks.

In addition, the presence and IM features in Office Communicator 2007 R2 are compatible with Lync Server 2013, but conferencing features are not. During migration from Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Office
Communicator 2007 R2 is suitable for presence and IM interoperability, but users should use Lync Web App 2013 to join Lync Server 2013 meetings.
Q: Is it supported to run on Citrix Presentation server 6.5?
A: check the official document at http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX138408

Yes, schema update is required. See
