Migrate Oracle8i DB to Itanium Server from HP PA-Risk Server 64bit

Hi,
We have our existing application & Oracle 8i Database running on HP- Unix - PA-risk processes based 64 bit architecture.
we are planning to buy new hardware i.e Itanium Server for the above existing long application & Database.
My question is do we need to have seprate licence for Oracle 8i DB for new hardware to migrate existing Oracle 8i DB?
Thanks in advance,

As with all licensing questions, you'd really need to contact your Oracle Sales representative. The answer is likely to depend on your existing license agreement, the number of processes and number of cores involved, your country, your relationship with Oracle, your ability to negotiate, etc.
If you are licensed by Named Users, I'd expect you'd be fine. If you're licensed by CPU, I'd expect that the new server would have more CPUs (remembering that Oracle counts CPUs not by sockets but by cores with a platform-specific core multiplier), so you'd have to buy some additional licenses. I would expect that you'd be able to negotiate with Oracle Sales to be able to run the new and old systems in parallel for a brief period of time, but that's something you'd have to get from Sales.

• Heterogeneous Migration of BW on SQL Server to BW on HANA Issue

Hi,
I am performing Heterogeneous migration of BW on SQL Server to BW on HANA according to the procedure mentioned in the SAP Documentation.
Started the migration using Software Provisioning Manager.
I have ran SMIGR_CREATE_DDL and ran export of source system and it is completed successfully.
Then I ran the Import of Target system. The import ran into issues when running the script SAPVIEW, the script resulted in failure when creating views.
(DB) ERROR: DDL statement failed
(CREATE VIEW "V_TRALAN" ( "PGMID" , "OBJECT" , "OBJ_NAME" , "AUTHOR" , "DEVCLASS" , "MASTERLANG" , "COMPONENT" , "NAMESPACE" , "TPCLASS" , "GENFLAG" , "DLVUNIT" ) AS SELECT T0001."PGMID", T0001."OBJECT", T0001."OBJ_NAME", T0001."AUTHOR", T0001."DEVCLASS", T0001."MASTERLANG", T0002."COMPONENT", T0002."NAMESPACE", T0002."TPCLASS", T0001."GENFLAG", T0002."DLVUNIT" FROM "TADIR" T0001, "TDEVC" T0002 WHERE T0002."DEVCLASS" = T0001."DEVCLASS")
DbSlExecute: rc = 103
(SQL error 259)
error message returned by DbSl:
invalid table name: Could not find table/view TDEVC in schema SAPXXX: line 1 col 386 (at pos 385)
I found that there are many tables which are missing in HANA Schema but exists in Source system database.
I checked the export scripts like *.STR and *.EXT and does not see those tables being captured.
Example table: TTREE exists in Source System database , but missing in HANA Database Schema SAPXXX.
Not sure what is the problem and how can I fix this issue. I was planning to manually move the missing tables from Source database to HANA Database schema, but that will be too much and I am not sure how many of them are missing.
Please let me know how can I fix this issue?
Thanks.

Hi Celvin,
Thanks for the reply. Could you please let me know how to perform the LCM migration for HFR.
I am having some issues with my HFR server and so I cannot open the reports. So I am thinking if I can use LCM and export and migrate the reports to another server.
The steps I am performing to do this:
Login to HSS > Application group> Reporting and Analysis> Repository objects> report folder name> select reports> Hit on Export
Now in the exported folder I see three things:
RnA-Reporting and Analysis (Its a folder)
Export.xml
Import.xml
Now under RnA-Reporting and Analysis folder I see sub folders
resource\Repository Objects\Under this folder, I see for every report there is one .xml file and 5 other files for the same report.
Can anyone tell me how to import these reports back into the new environment?
Thanks,

Problem is that, I have to migrate stored procedure on Sql server 2008 to oracle Oracle database:
Whole scenario--

Any method (no problem)
Please, help me or give me any reference as I don't know which keyword is differ in both database.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
You could the free Oracle SQL*Developer to do this.
There is information and a download link here -
Oracle SQL Developer</title><meta name="Title" content="Oracle SQL Developer"><meta n…
and information on using it for migrations here -
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/migration/index-084442.html
You could use it in 2 ways -
1. Go through a migration but just pull the stored procedure code from the file created after you generate the SQL from the SQL*Server database
2. Use the scratch editor accessed from -
- Tools - Migration - Scratch Editor
and paste the SQL*Server stored procedure code into the window and it will convert it to Oracle code. The tool is very good but may have problems if you have very complicated procedures that use SQL*Server specific utilities.

• Failure migrating wiki to Mountain Lion Server with wikiadmin, value is out of range for type integer

We are trying to migrate our 10.6.8 wikis from the OS X Server to our new Mountain Lion OS X Server. I am using "wikiadmin migration -r <collaboration directory> -g <wiki name>" to migrate each wiki individually. We have about 30 wikis in the old server, three of which fail to migrate, all with the same problem (below). The process runs successfully for a while, but ultimately fails and rolls back the transaction. It appears there is some problem trying to generate a unique filename, perhaps for some of the uploaded files?
Has anyone else seen this error? large amount of pages, content, and attachments in these wikis and just recreating them in the new server would be a monumental task. Some of these attachments include videos and other large files, not sure if that might contribute to the problem.

Aug 29 13:25:11 gslcwiki.local wikiadmin[54032] <Debug>: [PGCConnection:320 7e7e1180 +0ms] Executing update [ROLLBACK]

Okay, so a little more detail for you…
If I can manage to restart the server without the wiki service on, everything else seems to work fine (including the web service running the default home page) and "serveradmin fullstatus wiki" will report that the service is stopped.
But as soon as I try to start the wiki service, it never finishes, and it prevents the web service from working properly anymore. i.e. I get a 502 Proxy Error instead of the OS X Server default home page. It's after the attempted wiki start that "serveradmin fullstatus wiki" starts to give the
serveradmin[2373:707] outstanding requests are: (
Command = getState;
Module = "servermgr_wiki";
Timestamp = "2012-10-25 16:22:15 +0000";
error. And then I can't stop the wiki service - even "serveradmin stop wiki" gives the same "outstanding requests" message.
This time I tried to stop the wiki from Server app and I got this error:
An error occurred on the server while processing a command.
The error occurred while processing a command of type 'getState' in plug-in 'servermgr_wiki'.
If it's helpful at all, I've notice the following in my log files that seem related, but I have no idea how to fix - it almost seems lie the migration of the wiki failed from 10.7 to 10.8:
collabd[767]: [CSConnectionPool:141 6a92000 +14027ms] Schema is STILL out of date (14 < 69) after launching wikiadmin, update failed! collabd will refuse to run until this is fixed.
I'm really pulling my hair out over here, and have no idea what to try next?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!

• Migrate DPM to another Physical Server

I have one DPM server on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and SCDPM 2012 SP1 running on it. This server has OS related issue and giving BSOD frequently, Have logged call with Microsoft but it hasn't fixed yet.
I am planning to move this server to another physical server with Fresh OS and new DPM setup. This server having 400 Datasources and 37 TB storage pool on it.
The biggest fear we have of Tape data information. We write tapes on every month with tape retention of 5 years. There's no any certificate or encryption is on DPM server side. The encryption we have is on tape library side provided by HP.
I just want to confirm that if I move DPM all configuration with storage pool to new server. Will be able to restore data on new DPM server from tapes which we wrote last year?
In simple words just want to confirm that tape information will be loosed?

Hi,
Yes, as long as you do a true hardware migration keeping the same DPM Server name and restore the DPMDB, then the rebuilt server will be able to read the tapes and restore data back to original location.

• Reconfigure DPM after migrating Sharepoint to another SQL Server

How can I Reconfigure DPM after migrating Sharepoint to another SQL Server?

Hi,
I have tried this.
When I removed the SharePoint datasource from Protection group there was no option to keep or lose data.
I ran ConfigureSharePoint -EnableSharePointProtection and ConfigureSharePoint -ResolveAllSQLAliases , then refreshed view in DPM console and added SharePoint back to protection group.
The modify protection group screen showed success. looking in Monitoring, I see Consistency check failed with this error "DPM cannot continue protection for SharePoint Farm Sharepoint Farm\sqpl2008srv1\SharePoint_Config on spwfe1.internal.ermanz.govt.nz.
(ID 30184)" this followed with Recovery point failing as well and description was same error (as above).
I then removed the datasource again and created a new Protection Group and added SharePoint, but got same result. When creating the PG, it did not format space or do initial copy and CC's and RP's failed as before.
When DB's were moved to another SQL Server, SharePoint retained the same SQL name as before (uses aliases)

• JDk for Itanium Server

Hi Guys,
What is Version of JDK is sultable for Itanium 64 Bit Server? From which site JDK can be get. And also give an idea to instal Tomcat in Itanium Server[64 Bit].

There should be no issues with using SAP JVM from the start.
Probably no notes because is straightforward:
- Extract the SAP JVM (e.g. c:\sapjvm_4)
- Set JAVA_HOME (c:\sapjvm_4)
And start installation as per guide.
We have done this recently with Solman 7 EHP1 and NW 7 EHP1 (J2EE stack).
We did have issue on central instance install where the J2EE instance would not start part way through installation (server0 continually crashed and restarted with memory issues) so we had to adjust the instance settings as per SAP Note#1603093, before retrying in SAPINST and continuing.
We had this problem with both Solman & NW 7 EHP1.

• Using Migration Assistant to Move Data Files from one Account to New User

Is it possible or recommended to use Migration Assistant to move data files from an old user account to a new user account on the same volume/hard disk?

Migration Assitant cannot be used as a simple file transfer utility. MA can transfer an entire Home folder or entire Users folder but not individual files.
In general files in one user account cannot be moved to another user account as this would violate built-in security measures.
What you can do is to copy the files to an external device like a hard drive or flash drive. First log in to the old account. Then configure the drive to ignore preferences by Pressing COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window and check the Ignore permissions on this volume checkbox at the bottom of the window. Copy your files to the device. Log into the new account. Verify the external drive is still configured to ignore permissions (reset it, if not.) Copy the files from the external device into the Home folder of the new account. I would create a temporary folder for these files. If you still end up without the proper permissions you will need to make modifications that are easier done if all the files are in a single folder.
