Migrate osb deployment from Admin Server to Managed Server

Hi,
I had create the OSB Development environment.
Configuration was such that OSB was deployed to Admin Server.
However, I have a new requirement, wish to deploy OSB to a Managed Server and no longer Admin Server, to reduce the load on Admin Server and for future high availability plans.
I have created a Managed Server for OSB deployment. I was of the opinion that I should just simply use the console for deploying OSB to the newly created Managed Server.
However, I seemed to have missed some steps and therefore OSB was not working.
Kindly help me.

Hi,
look at this:

About expected results from such db migration, I can only say that because all IDM objects (forms, wf, customizations etc) are stored on its waveset db, at the end of db migration, you should have same functionalities. Obviously you need to change (with lhconsole) the db iDM should refer to. This information is stored in a special (encrypted) xml file.
HTHAnd don't forget that you also need to replace your JDBC driver (jar file) with the oracle JDBC driver and ensure it is in the classpath that LH and the appserver need.

  • Migration or Deployment from one server to another server!

    Hi All,
    We have a new Business Objects XI R2 SP1 production server installed in a remote location, and my client wants to migrate everything from the old BO Production server to the new server.Is there any way to do? Initially I tried using Import wizard, but it couldn't recognize the port and CMS server (They have 2 different gateways, not in a same network). I tried using BIAR file but while in the creation it doesnot archived the reports and their instances with showing 0 transfered or converted. Appreciated if anyone could give solution to my problem.
    Thanks,
    Kalyan.

    We have a BO XI R2 server running in C:\ drive and the FRS was in E:\ drive and recently we installed a new new server. I have question that when we use Import Wizard, does the FRS folder will copy to the same E:\ drive or it will copy every thing to the C:\  FRS folder.
    When we use import wizard does the users and their privileages setups will also move or we need to again re-create the users and their perivileages.
    kindly please some help!
    thankz,
    Kalyan.

  • Related to migration of db from sql server to oracle 11 g

    We're trying to migrate a Sql server managment studio database to Oracle 11g using SQL Developer 4.0. We can successfully connect to both Sql server managment studion 8.0 and Oracle 11g using the tool, as well as click through the Migration Wizard and start the migration.
    This opens the Database Migration dialog box, which indicates the capture process starts normally. we get the following error:
    ora :01440 : can not insert null into migrlog (id column) ,
    \and then after some time , i get an error that migration failed
    i am not getting the reason,I thing it may be due to reason that , I have table's column in my source db with more than 30 character.
    If i am migrating one by one table . then it is not giving any error, and identifier name is getting shrink in 30 character. but i am not getting the view , stored procedure , indexes , and others
    then what is the solution  for that, somebody pls suggest any help?????????????

    Pl do not post duplicates - related to migration of db from sql server to oracle 11 g
    Continue the discussion in your original thread
    The error message is explicitly clear
    ora :01440 : can not insert null into migrlog (id column)
    Your process is trying to insert a NULL value into the ID column, which presumably cannot be NULL

  • SharePoint 2013 : Migration of customization from development server to production server

    Dear all,
    I have the following scenario and servers:
    1. Development Server; (Server where our developers would develop our dms and/or enhancement based on change request)
    2. Test Server; (Test server where our users will test the system (dms) and/or enhancement requested)
    3. Production Server (Our production server where only our end users will have access , developers wont have access to this env.)
    My question is how to migrate our changes from development server to test server and finally to production server?
    Is there a mechanism/ guide /best practice approach for this?
    Any help/guide would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks & regards
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
    Thanks for posting your issue, Moving stuff from environment to environment will depending on your stuff;
    Content, like list items and documents, can't be easily moved. They can be moved with 3rd party solutions, or custom code. You can do it with a C# solution or even using PowerShell.
    Stuff like lists, libraries, master pages, CSS, etc. should be packaged in a solution file, either sand box or farm solution. This solution file can contain all of the assets you require, and then it can be deployed into a new environment, which then provisions
    all the stuff you need (it could also load up test/sample data if needed)
    Another nice solution, if you're working with a brand new site, is to back it up and restore it into another environment. That helps get the bulk of the stuff copied over, and then you can use one of the above methods for continuing updates.
    Also, check out below mentioned URL to move content from on environment to another environment

    You need to copy your input and output file stores from the old server to the new server. By default these are located in the <Business Objects install path>\FileStore directory.
    Then you need to stop the CMS, Right click the CMS,Click the Configuration tab, and then click Specify.
    Choose Copy, then click OK.
    Choose the version information for the source CMS database.
    Select the database type for the source CMS database, and then specify
    its database information (including host name, user name, and password).
    Select the database type for the destination CMS database, and then
    specify its database information (including host name, user name, and
    password).
    When the CMS database has finished copying, click OK.
    Once this process has been completed start the CMS and click on update objects -> located on the top of the CCM.
    I'd advise taking full backups beforehand.

  • Migrating a table from SQL server 2005 to oracle 9i

    Hi
    I need to migrate a table from SQL server to oracle, both of which are on different machines, I tried using SQL server DTS export functionality selected the Oracle driver, created a DSN, but it gave error message box as shown below
    Error Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
    "ORA 12560 :TNS protocol adapter error"
    Context:Error During initialization of the provider
    While i was successfully able to migrate the table from SQL SERVER to MS-ACCESS and from MS ACCESS to Oracle
    thanks
    abhishek

    Hi
    thanks warren, i just figured out that the DSN i had created while migrating data from Access to oracle was User DSN, i just created a system DSN of the similar kind and was successfully able to export the data from SQL server to oracle, the only problem being the column names in SQL server are longer than the limit of 30 characters we have in ORACLE..

  • Weblogic 8.1 SP6 Webervice problem deployed on Admin Server

    Hi All,
    I am using Weblogic 8.1 SP6 on RHEL 4. I have a domain which has only one Admin server. Domain is running in Development mode, JRockit is the JVM used, version 142_11.
    I have two Webservices Applications (ear's) which are deployed on Admin Server. One webservice appl makes call to another.
    When we have testing going on, every now and them Admin Server hangs, Idle threads in Execute Queue will be zero at the time of issue. Whenever we have issue of Admin Server hang and application not responding I am able to open the console and browse through all links, just the Admin server status shows me as failed in console (not sure how because if Admin Server is in failed state console doesnt open). I took thread dumps at the time of the issue. I see threads getting stuck when trying to make Webservice HTTP call. I saw same problem posted forums, but no resolution was specified. Kindly let me know if you have any resolution for this issue. Below is thread dump.

  • Cluster member caches a copy of DefaultWebApp from admin server

    Hi,
              It seems that when a cluster member starts up, it fetches a copy of
              DefaultWebApp web application from admin server, and keeps it under a
              directory of $BEA_HOME/wlserver6.1/config/mydomain/applications/.wlnotdelete_$SERVER_NAME,
              and it doesn't look into its local copy of DefaultWebApp even being
              modified.
              How does this happen? How can it be disabled?
              Thanks in advance,
              William

    Hi,
              this does probably occur due a change in WLS 6.1 which was done in order to assure the server
              to function properly even when the customer deletes the defaultWebApp. If this is the case
              this
              cannot switched off.
              Do you observe other symptoms, which lets you think you have a problem with your server ?

  • Browse jms destinations on managed servers (from admin server)

    I need to browse JMS destinations from the admin server (in a WebLogic
    9.2 console extension) that are only deployed on the managed servers.
    I can get destination attributes via the domain runtime server, but
    no JNDI or actually browse the destinations. All destinations in
    which I am interested are queues.
    I know I can change my initial context, but if that is the way to go, is there a way to determine the managed
    servers' URLs at runtime?
    Thank you for any help,
    Seth

    hi
    this worked for me (on 8.1). I suppose there are
    better ways in 9.2
    Context adminCtx = null;
    adminCtx = getInitialContextForAdminServer();
    MBeanHome adminhome = (MBeanHome)
    adminCtx.lookup(MBeanHome.ADMIN_JNDI_NAME);
    // Get the list of running managed
    ning managed servers and iterate over itSet
    Set srSet =
    Set srSet =
    adminhome.getMBeansByType("ServerRuntime");
    Iterator sr_iter = srSet.iterator();
    while (sr_iter.hasNext())
    ServerRuntimeMBean bean =
    timeMBean bean = (ServerRuntimeMBean) sr_iter.next();
    // Get the home for the managed
    for the managed server
    MBeanHome remoteHome = (MBeanHome)
    me = (MBeanHome) adminCtx.lookup(MBeanHome.JNDI_NAME
    + "." + bean.getName());
    // Get the MBeanServer for the
    anServer for the managed server
    MBeanServer rmbs =
    eanServer rmbs = remoteHome.getMBeanServer();
    //invoke it
    ObjectName objectName= new
    objectName= new ObjectName("$mbean");
    rmbs.invoke(objectName,operation,params,types);
    Edited by deepshet at 05/05/2007 10:00 AMThank you for the help.
    MBeanHome is deprecated as of 9.0, so I was unable to directly use your example. You have helped though, thank you.
    As of now I am querying the domain runtime server for:
    ObjectName("com.bea:*,Type=ServerRuntime")
    I am then iterating through the returned Set to get the server URLs and then setting my InitialContext with a PROVIDER_URL of the managed servers. This allows me to Look Up a Destination without JNDI based on step 4 from [url http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs92/jms/implement.html#wp1313933]here. I can then browse as needed.
    The ugly part is that if I include the Admin URL in my PROVIDER_URL then it does not work, so I am checking for it as I loop through the set of ServerRuntimes and not including it.
    Further though slightly less annoying is that the managed server URLs include "t3://" but if I leave it in there, a malformed URL exception is thrown when setting the PROVIDER_URL. So I also remove all of those and then preppend one on the front for PROVIDER_URL as I actually need.
    It is not pretty, but it is working on the only cluster I have been able to try thus far.
    If anyone was a cleaner suggestion, please share.

    Try running the manageed server directly (as sort of admin) by not passing
    the admin server url and bringing it just like an admin server.
    See if this works. If it works, then soemthing wrong in the way the admin
    server is receiving the request/security credentials from managed server.
    Also make sure both managed and admin servers are on the same patch/service
    pack level.

    Hello,
    There is a lot of stuff on this thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=567363&messageID=2801617
    these guys are trying to run weblogic with JBuilder.
    Looks like your classpath is incorrect, can you go to your admin console-->server-->remote start
    copy the classpath and post it here.
    Check for spaces in your classpath, missing jars or directories and miss spelt paths.
    Has this problem been occuring as soon as you installed WLP or not?
    Cheers,

  • Best Way to Migrate an application from one server to another

    I couldn't seem to find the best way to this by Googling. If you have two instances of Sun Web Server 7, and you want to migrate a web application from one server to another, what is the best way to that?

    I am sorry. My question was poorly worded after some hours of frustration. What I am really trying to do is develop a base virtual machine snapshot with Sun Web Server Loaded and a base set of applications.
    When the need arises, I need to deploy another VM and start it up. There seems to be some issue with the host name of the VM and the administration server, or something. It is my impression that as longs as I have everything contained in one directory like /webserver, I should be able to copy everything to a new machine and start it up. I know I need the listeners listening on all ip addresses and the jdk being used would need to be in that directory as well. Is there anything I am missing here or that I need to watch out for?

  • Import Wizard vs LCM for Migration of BO from one server to another

    Hi Experts,
    Can anyone highlight the differences between Import Wizard and LCM (in terms of migrating/deploying BO from one server to another)?
    We are currently using BO XI 3.0, which does not support LCM. I'd like to know if LCM has enough advantages to justify an upgrade to BO XI 3.1.
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Linda

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks a lot for your reply. May I have a follow-up question?
    For my client, the following deployment activities are necessary:
    1) From Development server, to one Test server containing 2 separate sets of objects - one set for SIT, the other set for UAT.
    Object (Connections, Universes, Webi reports) names in Test server will be different from those in Development Server due to the existence of 2 sets of objects on the same server.
       a) For SIT: Universe A on Development server -> Universe SA on Test server
       b) For UAT: Universe A on development server -> Universe UA on Test server
    2) From Development server, to Training server.
       Same object names will be used in Training server.
       E.g. Universe A in Development server copied to Universe A in Training Server
    3) From Development server, to Production server
       Same object names used in Production server.
    From the above, there will be 4 rounds of deployment. Is Import Wizard sufficient? Or is LCM still the better option?
    Thanks in advance for your advice.
    Linda
