Migrate portal content from ep 7.0 to 7.3

Hi,
We have to migrate following content from EP 7.0 server to EP 7.3.
- URL iViews with language translation
- Application Integrator iViews
- WPC content
Please suggest what should be the approach ?
Will all these portal content from 7.0 be compatible to 7.3 ?

Migrating Portal Content from a previous release

I am stuck up with a challenging task. I am new to Portals and will really appreciate your help.
I have installed the new OAS 10.1.2 version and upgraded it to the Portal 10.1.4 version. There is a some Portal Content present on different OAS installations which are earlier versions of the server (9i and 10.0.3)
Can i migrate this Portal Content to the new Portal Server (10.1.4)? Please provide me with the appropriate information.

Hi,
It is not possible to migrate portal contents to the different version of Portal. In order to export the portal contents both the source and destination machine should have same Portal version.
As a work around you need to upgrade the Portal instance in other OAS to the highest Portal version(10.1.4).

Migration of portal content from EP 6.0 SP 15 to NW 2004s Portal

Our requirement here is to migrate Portal content from EP version 6.0 SP15 to the latest Netweaver portla (NW2004s). Expecting helpful suggestions from SAP EP gurus!!!

These are the steps in migrating the portal content from the EP 6 SP15 to the Netweaver Portal (EP 7.0 or the NW 2004s Portal) in simple:
1. Go to System Administration -> Transport -> Portal Content. Right click on the folder, you wish to transport. Select New -> Transport Package .
2. Fill all the details (like name of the transport package, id etc) and then add the objects(iViews, Pages etc) you wish to transport to the newly created transport package by right clicking on the objects.
3. Once the objects are all added, click on Export in the object editor of the Transport package and the export happens immediately.
4. Navigate to Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Export of the EP 6 SP 15 Portal Server. You will see the epa file created during this export process.
5. Copy this epa file and place it in Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Import folder structure of the NW 2004s Portal Server. Go to System Administration -> Transport -> Import and do the import as you would import any business package.
This are the steps to export and import the portal content from one portal server to another portal server.

You can upgrade your portal with all usages that you have installed. You need to check upgrade guide as well.
You need to check if there is any custom development on the portal to migrate it to new version.

Migration of content from Subversion repository

Hi. I'm trying to migrate some content from some subversion (svn) repositories into SharePoint document libraries. Since I don't currently have .NET-based svn-reading capabilities, I've got my content in another application that was then calling into the SharePoint copy web service. With this I can get almost everything I need, but not quite everything. I want to be able to retain the check-in author, check-in date, and check-in comment from my svn metadata, but I don't see how to force that information into my document library at the time that I upload my document.
So, how can I create a document in a versioned document library that will allow me to supply my own specific author, modified-by user, and check-in comment? I am also not opposed to just buying a standalone product that does this, but I can't seem to find anything like it.

We use Tortoise/SVN heavily for our team development.
We use it for maintaining all kinds of code stuff. VBS, C#, PowerShell, IPF, AU3 etc....
It's sooo easy to work with, but the backend is either a file share or an Apache web server.
Currently there does not seem to exist an IIS backend or even a Sharepoint solution.
We have been toying with embedding SVN in IIS/MOSS 2007 since versioning is build in there.
The problem is IMHO the SVN protocol must be implemented in a special MOSS feature and you also need to access the backend trough a web part in order to upload/download subscribe to a repository.
Supplying the mandatory comment attributes can be done in MOSS in the document library settings by adding columns and making them required.
We do that kind of stuff in combination with a special autonumbering feature in order to create unique ID numbers for each document.
I've googled a while about this subject, but there is no real solution in IIS/Sharepoint as far as I know.

Tranport portal content from SP14 to SP18

Hello,
Is it possible and advisable to transport portal content (iviews, roles, etc) from a portal on EP6 SP14 to EP6 SP18? Do I need to manually move configuration from one portal to the other? What are my options?

Hi Kevin,
There should be absolutely no problem in transporting EPAs from SP14 to SP18 (as far as the transport mechanism in concerned; as far as SP14 based PAR implementations are concerned, they maybe should be checked if they use some undocumented APIs which are always subject to change without notice, but from your question I don't think that this was your problem/question).

What conf are you thinking of? As far as PCD objects and their conf is concerned, as said, for that you should use the normal transport packages.
As far as the KM config is concerned, this can be transported, too, but that is (totally independent from SP-level questions) something where one has to be careful (the best choice is only to bundle a configArchive with special own settings one is aware of, and not to transport the complete KM config).

Federated portal's, cann't see the roles and portal content from producer

We are configuring a Federated Portal, with a Producer EP7.0 SP13 and a Consumer EP7.0 SP13. The connection test is successful.
I can see the producer on the consumer and the consumer on the producer.
The problem is that I can not see the portal content of the producer in the portal content of the consumer. The producer roles are also not available on the consumer. I have selected the producer as the data source in the consumer UME,
then enter * in the role name field, then select "go", but nothing comes up.
Can anybody help me?

Following might be the reason:
1. User should exist in both user store of Consumer and Producer portal otherwise it wont work.
2. Incase if the registration is successful then there might be some problem with your servers (Consumer & Producer) clock timings.
3. Remote Role Assignment may get fail perhaps because user to whom remote role assignment is done doesnt have End User role assigned to him/her at Producer Portal. End-user permission enables business users to run content at runtime. Just as end users require end-user permission to run local content on your portal, they also need end-user permission for local content originating from a remote producer.
4. You should have Owner permission in the objects to which you want to assign permissions otherwise Remote Role Assignment wont work.
5. In the portal content studio, open the producer under 'NetWeaver content producers'. If it does not contain folders in it, the registration is considered to be unsuccessful even though it stated it was successful while registration.
6. During the process of Registering (Adding) Producer Portal, while entering the connection parameters of the NetWeaver producer portal use appropriate Host name against Host Name input field instead of IP address. Perhaps this might create some problem during execution in later stage.
e.g. Host Name: use sapProducerportal02 instead of 172.19.144.155

Unable to migrate portal content :-(

I want to move 2 iViews and a Authorization role from ABC System to XYZ System.
I found out that there seem to be 2 basic ways, I do not know enough about.
I went to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the source System ABC -> System administration -> Transport packages -> Export. I do a right-click on the Folder "etcppp" create a new package, save it and download it to my personal computer.
In the second step I go to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the target system ABC -> System administration -> Transport packages -> Import. I import it and find the package in the content-tree, but it does not unpack Where is my mistake ?
So I startet my second try:
I went to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the source System ABC -> System administration -> content & actions -> Export and created a nice XML File. Up to now I do not understand why there seem to be 2 ways and 2 different file formats but I thought to give it a try. I downloaded the XML without any errors.
In the second step I go to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the target system ABC -> System administration -> content & actions BUT it simply does not open! I startet the engine and the system new, but the branch stays hidden. What can I do ?
Please let me also know if there are any other possibilities to transport Portal Content.

U need to add the 2 Views and Roles to the transport package.GoTo source System ABC -> System administration -> Transport packages -> Export--> Create new transport package > Click ur iview and from the context menu add the iview/role to the transport package> click on export.Download the same to ur local machine.
GoTo system ABC -> System administration -> Transport packages -> Import --> select the transport package from ur client and import.Make sure importis succesful.

your code is correct except you are giving the wrong pcd folder address.
If you want to get pages/iviews/worksets..change accordingly instead of

in the above code.

Migrate iTunes content from drive to drive?

Hi. I just installed a new hard drive in my PC, and I thought when I signed in to my new iTunes installation it would bring back things like my purchased iPhone apps and subscribed podcasts...but no.
I synced my iPhone to my new iTunes installation, and THAT copied my apps to iTunes, but it's still a no-go on the podcasts. (Obviously the music and playlists won't come over until I copy my music to the new drive, so I'm OK with that.)
Is there a way to import my subscribed podcasts from the old install to the new? I had a LOT of them, and would hate to have to reinstall the old drive then write them all down by hand and re-search and subscribe to them on the new drive. Any shortcuts for migrating old iTunes info to new would be appreciated.

Migrating portal from 10g to 11g

Hi,
We are in the process of upgrading oracle mid tier from 10gAS to OFMW 11g and also migrating it from Solaris to Linux.
With regard the portal migration from OAS 10g to OFMW 11g
1) Is it possible to migrate portal objects from 10g (solaris) to a new install of OFMW portal 11g(linux) directly OR do we have to upgrade the existing OAS 10g to OFMW portal 11g (on Solaris) and then migrate the portal objects to OFMW Portal 11g (on Linux)
I am new to portal migration. Any suggestions and additional details would be appreciated.

Migration + upgrade in one shot is do-able, because upgrade will require a sequence of processes but they will be mostly based on repository upgrade, and hence will be transparent to the OS you are using.
However, in practice, the standard rule-of-thumb is that you avoid dealing with multiple layers of complications in a single shot. That means, you break complications in such steps where you could recognize the sources of any later errors/problems you encounter.

Transport of portal content objects from EP 6 SP 15 to NW 2004s portal

Hello All,
     My question is regarding the transportation of portal content from a EP 6 SP 15 portal to the NW 2004s portal. We had developed a lot of content in the EP 6 portal. We had installed and configured business packages in the SP 15 portal.
    Now, we installed a new NW 2004s portal and we want to transport all the developed content from the SP 15 to the new NW 2004s portal.
    I exported all the developed content to a transport package on the SP 15 portal and the export resulted in the .epa file. I then imported it into the new NW 2004s portal. But the issue now is I am unable to see the system aliases which were created for all the systems. The systems do exist in the new portal but the aliases do not exist.
Is there anything that needs to be done to get the system aliases?
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

I think while exporting you have to select the option include dependant objects also to get the system alias also.

How can we migrate full content from a third party CMS to Oracle Webcenter Content system? Do we have a automated batch file import or any APIs which can accept XML data about the content files and upload to the content items to Webcenter Content.? The main idea is migrate from a old CMS to a new Webcenter Content.

You have different ways to do this action.
- You can use "Desktop Integration Suite" that allows you to copy from your Windows Explorer to UCM like any other shared folder.
- You can use BatchLoader, that will follow a script that creates this massive import to UCM
- You can create a Java small client that via RIDC can insert all contents.
