Migrate to ecc 6.0

hello all, we are currently working on r/3 4.6 and planning to migrate to ecc 6.0
we are using bw 3.1. what are going to be the limitations to bw?

Pizza Girl,
Definately move to BI 7 - NW2004s. It will be supported longer and is the version to sit with ECC 6.
You can move to NW2004s without needing to migrate anything at all in the first instance. You can upgrade the ABAP stack and put on the Java stack as part of the upgrade but then not utilise the new functionality immediately. This means that you do not need to migrate queries or setup the new BI portal.
Obviously in the long run you will want to turn on the new functionality.
A good overview document of NW2004s and its features is:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5ee3725b-0401-0010-e381-ac323362ce91
A more detailed document is:

The "highlights" of the new capabilities between 3.1 and 7 are:
*Information Broadcasting - allowing users to schedule their own reports
*New Modelling capibilities with new style data model more closely aligned to Corporate Information Factory (CIF).
*Integrated Planning (replacement for SEM-BPS)
There are many other benefits but these are the common ones for people to rave about. Depending on your particular implementation other features may be of greater benefit.
Thanks
Dave

  • TDMS Migration from ECC 5.0 to 6.05

Does TDMS version 4.0 supports data migration between ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0 EhP5?  With the upcoming release of LVM into ramp-up, would this be a better alternative?

    Hi,
No, TDMS does not support data transfer between system of different release.
How LVM will help you in doing data transfer between different releases ? As per my understanding LVM is totally different tool than TDMS.

  • How To Connect Portal to a new migrated ERP (ECC) Backend

We are currently running ERP 2005 (ECC 6) on UNIX/Oracle platform. Our corresponding NW2004s Portal (on Windows 2003 Enterprise/MSSQL 2005) is currently pointing to this system. We plan to migrate (with the help of a certified migration specialist) the backend ERP2005 system to the new Windows 2003 Enterprise running MSSQL 2005.
To those who has done this before, what do I need to do to make sure the Portal will connect and functional properly with the new ERP 2005 system?

    Hi Bill,
For connectivity for the ECC backend you have to make system object. For step bye step setting please see the below link

  • Migration to ECC and BW in one instance

    Hello,
a customer has the ERP part on 4.6c and a BW on 3.1.
Is there a standard migration path to ECC 5.0 with an internal BW on netweaver 04?
Is it possible to first upgrade the BW system on a separate instance and later migrate it into the upgraded ERP ECC 5.0 system, so that there is only one instance at the end?
    Thanks for help!
    Matthias

    Hi Magesh,
mySAP ERP 2004 is a new ERP solution from SAP.
It divided into variuos software components. Basically you can divide mySAP ERP 2004 into 3 types of components
    1) ABAP Components
    2) JAVA Components
    3) Additional Components
SAP ECC 5.0 is one of the ABAP Components. The ECC consists of the ECC application and the ABAP SAP Web Application Server 640. The plug-ins are an integral part, which are used to connect for example to SAP BW. It consists of the following S/W Components
    EA-IPPE 300PI
    EA-RETAIL 500
    EA-PS 500
    EA-HR 500
    EA-GLTRADE 500
    EA-FINSERV 500
    EA-DFPS 500
    EA-APPL 500
    SAP_APPL 500
    SAP_HR 500
    Hope this helps.

  • DB Migration and ECC 6.0 Upgrade

I have a number of questions, we have a SAP R/3 4.7x200 landscape that is currently Windows 2003 and SQL2000 both 32 bit, we want to do the following, move to Windows 2003 and SQL2005 64bit, perform a Unicode and ECC6.0 Upgrade.
here are the steps I am planning on new hardware
    1. Migrate to 64bit
-install 64bit OS and SQL2006 64bit on new hardware
-export db from current 32 bit and import into 64 bit system
         a. I am confused, I have seen threads where it appears this was done in house, do we need an SAP certified      person to complete this task, this is a hetergenous copy? Note 82478
         b. can we do this inhouse if we follow the SAP documentation and checklists provided and have their signoff      with checks
    - Run tests and then confirm process before real migration
    2. Perform Unicode Upgrade
    - run this on sandbox, test and verify
    3. Perform ECC 6.0 upgrade
    - run this on sandbox a no. of times confirm
    - freezing development and starting with DEV (this is a small landscape, we can do this)
p.s can steps 2 and 3 be combined in one step, I have broken that out, to in my mind make it simpler to fix if anything breaks.

    Hi,
    DB Migration
    1. MS SQL Server 2000 is based on BIN collation and MS SQL Server 2005 is BIN2 collation. SO you need to first convert BIN to BIN2 collation.

  • SRM 7.0 Central Contracts Migration from ECC existing contracts

    Hi colleagues
We are facing the implementation of SRM 7.0 in a client who has ECC installed and we have a doubt with contract migration
We are considering using SRM Central Contracts in order to get them replicated on ECC
All the contracts "alive" that exist in ECC should be created on SRM as central Contracts. The problem is that when you create a SRM central contract the system will replicate it to ECC ... in that case we will have the same contract twice on ECC
    Does anybody face this situation?
I figure out that if at the moment we are creating SRM central contracts we turn off XI/PI the system would not replicate the contract to ECC but I think it would return an error without creating the contract on SRM... and even if we managed to create the central contracts in SRM without replicating them to ECC we would have the problem that both contracts wouldn´t be linked
We can´t consider the solution to be creating those contracts on SRM as SRM local contracts because we need to follow contract cicle in SRM after migration
Could anybody help me out with these?
    Thanks
    Regards

    Hello,
You can upload contracts from ECC to SRM using report BBP_CONTRACT_INITIAL_UPLOAD in SRM.
If you want take care of document type mappings/ Condition type mappings, use badi BBP_CTR_INIT_UP in SRM.
    Thanks,
    Sushil.

  • HANA migration for ECC

We are in early investigation around SAP HANA and trying to understand how this impacts our business processes. Have a few questions where some additional input would help.
    1. What happens to existing tables in ECC. Do they get automatically migrated to Column store format as part of new Data Model or is that something that we as customer need to decide between Row and Column based storage as part of migration?
    2. Current processes such as MRP and Billing leverage the ABAP processes in App server quite a bit. Post HANA, we understand the DB operations are much faster. So, what happens to current long running jobs such as billing - are they optimized for HANA or do the processes remain the same ABAP based?
    3. What is the persistence layer for the data? In addition to holding the data in memory - is it persisted in disk somewhere for failover? (Kind of similar to APO livecache where the data is written to planning cubes)

    Vicky,
thank you for looking into SAP HANA as your database for your ECC system.
We have a comprehensive FAQ for SAP Business Suite on HANA with lots of additional details:
    http://www.saphana.com/community/learn/solutions/sap-business-suite-on-hana/business-suite-on-hana-faq/content
    Quick answers to your questions:
    1. The migration effort is fully automated, most tables are converted to columns tables and all ERP cluster tables are being de-clustered during the migration to SAP HANA. SAP HANA Studio allows you to choose between column or row tables for custom applications, but for the SAP applications the choices are made by SAP.
    2. With regards to batch processes and also dialog processes, SAP provides optimizations with SAP HANA. Some are automatically available (like instantaneous SE16 look-ups), some need to be activated in the IMG for example, and others are only available as innovations, like sFIN for example. sFIN is available either as add-on for on-premise or as cloud applications in public or private cloud deployments.
Details for optimizations can be accessed here: https://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-59889
More information about s-innovation are presented in the TechED keynote form Berlin 2014.
    3. Currently SAP HANA still has a persistence layer outside the DRAM, which is called the SAP HANA storage and which is provisioned by SDD and/or HDD. Once HW vendors will provide non-volatile memory we do expect further simplification, as SAP HANA writes first to in-memory, and only in a second step to the persistence layer to guarantee ACID capabilities.
    thank you

  • Migration to ECC 6.0 from Older versions

    Hi
We want to migrate from two versions namely 3.1i and 4.6c (both of them in separate instances) to a unified ECC 6.0 in a different server.
Scenario 1: We are not planning any new functionalities but just to replicate the old functionalities as well as Old org structure in ECC 6.0.
Scenario 2: Alternatively assuming we have two Op Concerns and 3 Controlling areas in both the versions. We merge the Op Concern into one and have 2 or 1 Controlling area(s) in ECC 6.0, what could be the potential issues.
What is the best practice and what could be the potential issues, especially this migration happens in the middle of the fiscal year.
Any inputs in this regard will be highly appreciated.

  • Issue in Temp table creation in PCM Databridge and data migration from ecc to PCM using databridge

    Hi,
we are working on mapping SAP PCM table structure data and the data which is coming from ECC.
We are using Databridge tool to upload the data for the same, upload from databridge involves
using Specification file to upload the data into SAP PCM.
The problem we are facing is that
The responsiblity center(cost center) in ECC and SAP PCm are different. There is one to many relationship between them
eg 1 ecc cost center-->many SAP PCM cst center,we need to split the line item vale of one ecc cost center into many SAP PCM cost centers
eg C1 cost center from ECC has value 4000 to be split across PCM1,PCM2,PCM3,PCM4 cost centers in SAP PCM
we need to automate using the databridge ,we are stuck up in this task.
    Please guide us.
Also we are trying to create temporary table usinf Table temporary command in SPE file of databridge. The purpose of this is to put the ECC data in temp table as per our req and then use the temp table as data source for putting data in PCm as per our requirement.
Please advise us on this approach

  • Problems in migration to Ecc 6.0

    Good Morning,
Working with ECC 6.0 SAP version we have problems with the DMS likns to customer objects.
The standar objects like EQUI are saved in the system but not the customer objects, like project definition.
I have debugging the customer programas and dynpros ans I see that the IF_EX_DOCUMENT_OBJ~GET_DATA doesn´t cath information when we try to save the link in the system but in the old SAP version this didn´t did.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot for your reply Deepak,
All the notes that i have found in the sistem are apllied in our new ECC 6.0 system.
I have resolved the problem using pointers to the memory with the necesary data and reading this pointers in the Z class.

  • Vendor Migration issue for SRM as add-on to ECC

    Hello Experts,
I am working on SRM as add-on to ECC.
When I am trying to migrate vendors from ECC to SRM using MDS_LOAD_COCKPIT. Within monitor, all queues are 'green' indicating that data has successfully migrated to SRM.
But when I check vendors in trx- ppomv_bbp, i don't see any vendor being migrated from ECC. Neither the BPs are crated for these vendor masters.
I have configured all necessary configuration- i.e.
    1) I have carried out necessary settings in tables-
    mdsv_ctrl_opt_a
    crmc_but_call_fu
    v_tbc001
    2) In addition, I have maintained backend Purchase Org in PPOMA_BBP.
    3) I have checked RFC connections, definition of logical systems and
    it seems to be alright.
Can anybody please guide if I am missing on any config or can point
me in right direction to investigate??
At SRM GUI, I tried making a local vendor using 'BBPMAININT' but end up in a short-dump.
    Can you please help?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amit

    Hi,
if you problem is still existing, following might be possible solution. Try it.
Maintain Table BBP_MARKETP_INFO with corresponding Vendorroot ID (ex. VG50000....) that you already created in the PPOCV_BBP trx.
    Hope it helps.

  • Migrated BADI Implementation not triggering in ECC 6.0

    Hi Experts,
Need your urgent assistance how to deal with migrated BADI implementation which is not triggering in ECC 6.0. This is for PO (ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST). In the original version (4.6) it was working fine. But when this is migrated to ECC 6.0, it's not firing. Please help to trigger this one in ECC 6.0.
Points will be awarded and thanks in advance,
    LM

    Hi LM,
Can you just paste the code in the BADI.(The method in which code is there)
Is this BADI implemented and in the Active status.
Check in SE19 if the implementation exist or not?
There may be chances that some condition is not met which can trigger this BADI. Have you read the documentation of the BADI?

  • OS Migration of SAP ECC 6.0 system and SID needs to be changed.

    Hi Folks ,
                   I need a small help ,
here i need to migrate SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 7 from SUSE Linux to AIX and SID is also going to change from ABC to XYZ
so what is the proposed plan for it
                   1. we have to built the target system first ... and go with the import or
                   2. after export and import we have to go for SID change ...

    Hi  Reagan ,
In homogeneous system copy its possible , its possible to change SID when you are importing but is it possible for heterogeneous copy to change the SID
here the file system is built with target SID (eg : usr/sap/XYZ , sapmnt/XYZ , oracle/XYZ)
or we have to create the symlinks like oracle/ABC-->oracele/XYZ and then we have to delete the symlinks and change the SID

  • DMO - ECC Migration to HANA, wrong Target DB SID was given

    Dear Experts,
I am migrating our ECC system to HANA DB, Currently the long running phase ACT_UPG is going on. During the configuration phase by mistake i have given Target DB SID as source system SID which is wrong , Target HANA DB SID is different. Would i be able to change this setting in upcoming phases ? Would system prompt me to change DB SID after failing to connect to the given SID ? , I tried looking for config file which is similar to keydb.xml to edit this, but i am not able to find such kind of config file.
Please advise, i am worried if i need to redo everything
    Thanks,
    Aravind

    Hi Jeena,
My last reply was logical assumption.
You have used DMO with SUM, at least one SP should be applied.
Refer: 1813548 - Database Migration Option (DMO) for Software Update Manager
If you are on 7.31 or 7.4  ---- your target can be 7.31 or 7.4 - your choice.
