Migrate Visual Composer to NWDI in NWDS

Hi,
we are trying to migrate Visual Composer DCs from local development to NWDI. We are using NWDS only and not the browser version of VC.
In the development infrastructure perspective it is possible to move (or copy) the DCs from local to shared. However, in the VC perspective the project is created but it does not show any models there.
Does somebody have experience in migrating VC to NWDI using NWDS?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I was having the same problem and managed to do it eventually. The solution was a little bit painful...
First you need to configure the web version of VC to work with NWDI : Configuring Visual Composer to Work with NWDI - Configuring Composition Environment Platform - SAP Library
Then you do the workaround of note 1474660
If everything was OK, you will be able to see the SC in NWDS development infrastructure perspective
If I remember correctly, in the configuration I mentioned at 1st bullet, it can only be done with CMS and not CM tracks. So in case you have CM you can copy/paste as you described at your post and now it won't be blank.
Finally, something that happened to me, if you open your model and the services(web services, R3 data etc) are empty, you search them again and drag and drop them on top of the empty ones so you won't have to delete them and create them again.
Sorry if I forget something but it was a long time ago that I did it.

Vasilis

  • How to import of Visual Composer@browser models into Visual Composer@NWDS?

    Hello,
some month ago, I started modeling a number of composite views with the browser version of the Visual Composer 7.1 SP 5. At this time, the corresonding NWDS did not provide an integrated Visual Composer.
Now, we have moved to the CE 7.1 EhP 1 SP 2. This time the NWDS provides an integrated Visual Composer. Unfortunately, the integrated Visual Composer does not display my models.
How can I import my Visual Composer models from the browser version to the NWDS version?
Thanks a lot and kind regards
    Alexander

    Hello Talia,
You can use Import/Export in order to move your models from Visual Composer@browser to Visual Composer@NWDS.
Although, I have been able to export my models from VC@browser, I have not succeeded in importing them into VC@NWDS. Can you please give me a hint how to do that?
But If you intend to add your models to DTR (Source Control repository) in the future, you should to add them to DTR in VC@browser first, import them in NWDS (using Development Infrastructure perspective) from the DTR, check out, continue modeling and check in at the end.
To this end, I have to configure the VC@browser to use the DTR, right? Can you please give me a hint how to perfom the required configuration?
    Thanks a lot

  • Visual Composer 7.0 roadmap

    Hello experts,
We have NetWeaver EP 7.0 installed with Visual Composer in our C&B and DEV environment. We haven't started developing with it yet.
    My questions to you is:
What is the future of Visual Composer 7.0?
My understanding is that SAP has put a lot of energy integrating Visual Composer into CE 7.1. This new version has significant changes compare to it's predecessor. Visual Composer for CE 7.1 seems to be the way to go if one needs to create applications based on existing data services. In short terms, both versions will coexist. Bbut in long terms...?
Can anyone help me find the Visual Composer roadmap?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Nathalie

    Hi,
This is a quote from the Visual Composer main page on SDN: (/people/jarrod.williams/blog/2009/09/14/whats-new-in-visual-composer)
    "_Visual Composer 7.0_
In light of the progress made relating to parity between Visual Composer 7.0 and Visual Composer CE, our investment in Visual Composer 7.0 will be limited to maintenance after the release of enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. We are confident that with the provisions made for migration to Visual Composer 7.1 enhancement package 1 or Visual Composer 7.2 and the great feature set in Visual Composer for enhancement package 2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0, our existing customers running Visual Composer 7.0 will enjoy the best of both worlds: the option to upgrade to Visual Composer 7.2 or to stay with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0."
I'll stress the last part, though VC on CE is a great version, staying with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0 is also good, depending on your needs of course, for instance - the attractive Flash runtime which is currently exclisive for VC 7.0, the "Flash Components" feature that was entered on SP5 of 7.01 (and in 7.02) , which enables you to consume custom 3rd party flash components or Xcelsius controls inside Visual Composer,, which makes flash black-boxes easier to consume than in CE, .. etc..
still - VC on CE of course has it's own advantages - the ability to consume clustered services, life-cycle management, it's intergration with the other CE components etc..
and so if you'll find that VC 7.0 is not enough, you could always upgrade and migrate to the CE versions (7.1 or 7.2).
bottom line - it's a win win situation.

  • Visual Composer 7.0 support in SAP BW 7.3

    Hi
We are planning an upgrade to BW 7.3 in the coming months.  We have many visual composer 7.0.1 applications deployed in our current BWenvironment.  Is there a Visual Composer 7.0 instance for further development and will currently deployed iviews function as is in 7.3 or do we need to migrate to a new version (7.3) and redeploy?
Any information on this will be very helpful
    Thanks

    Hi,
this is a very sensitive thing. Normally your earlier versions should also work in 7.3 as already deployed applications. If you like to reuse your models you will need to migrate them. Unfortunately migration process is not very easy as both systems (the original one as well as the 7.3 one) need to be absolutely identical. Also all backend systems your application depends on need to be completely identical.
The best way to keep your models to work is either to recreate them in the new system or to keep an out of the box 7.0 system for development. I know this is not a nice solution but as you already ask for the consequences I try to tell you what would be best.

  • How to show BPM Reporting values in Visual Composer

    Hi everybody,
i add a Reporting Activity to my current BPM Process. My purpose is to show the report in Visual composer.
Unfortunately i don't know how to import the BPM Reporting Activity into VC?
Could anybody help me with a how-to-guide or a detailed description?
    Best regards,
    Sid

    Hi,
    Helpful information on this topic:
The whole subtree: Performing Process Analytics
Some quotes from the help.sap.com documentation:
Real-time analytics enables you to report against an operational system without using a BW system. Real-time analytics allows reporting on a subset of both generic process data and process context data. When performing real-time analytics, data is consumed and reports are displayed directly in the Visual Composer of the local system.
Reporting data is provided as DataSources to VC and you use the VC BI Kit to display the data.
Discovering BPM DataSources in Visual Composer:
    3. Choose: View -> Task Panel -> Search to search for BPM DataSources. The Search dialog appears.
    4. From the Select provider dropdown menu, select BI Data Sources.
    5. From the System destination dropdown menu, select BI (Sql) Portal.
...but per my understanding, in order to be able to select "BI Data Sources", because all BPM Data Sources can be accessed from this choice only, you need to have BW, and you need to configure the connection between your BPM and BW??
Also, your own custom BPM Data Sources can be created only with the "Reporting Activity" in NWDS, Process Development perspective??

  • Tree in Visual Composer WebView

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create a tree in VC Webview? I know this can be done in VC in NWDS. However, I believe this is not possible in the webview since I have not seen any integration with webdynpro components in webview. I am forced to use webview since I have to work on some BI data sources.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ritesh

    Hi Kirun,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am using the Webview of Visual composer and not using the integrated feature of VC in NWDS. I am using the webview since some of the BI data sources that I am using is available only in webview and not in the NWDS integrated VC.
In Webview, I do not see any feature wherein I can build a tree. Can you please help?
    Thanks and regards,

  • Where is the Visual Composer CE 7.2

    Dear team,
I downloaded the trial CE 7.2. It was installed successfully, Also SAP NWDS 7.1 was installed.
Now I need to design my business processes, but I can not find the Visual Composer.
    What should I do?
    My environment:
      Windows Server 2003 SP2
    regards,

    Hi Carlos,
If you have installed CE7.2 then install NWDS 7.2 instead of NWDS 7.1. You'l get many features.
Also, in CE the VC is ingrated and a browser based application.
As Fabian said, you can access it by using the following url:
    http://<your server host name>:<port>/VC/freestyle.jsp
Also, when you download the NWDS, you just get the kernel for the studio. You have to run the studio and then run the updates to install the features you want.

  • Where to get the par file for visual composer application?

    Hi Gurus,
I have referred few forum postings about transporting VC iview .
to do that first we have to deploy the par file of the Visual composer application into the target system(QA & Prod) where ever we want to import it........
Now my query is I went to System admin->support-Portal runtime->Root Folder-->Portal apps........
where i have seen my Visual composer application name and otpion to download when I downloeded it it has downloded in unknown format............can i deploy this to SDM of the target system?
Or I need to change the file format into par or par.bak file?
please tell me how to go about it.........
higher points will be rewarded for the useful inputs.......
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi Dharani,
Tools --> Options --> Compiler --> Check box deploy for par and mention the namespace and vendorname in the PAR prefix name
Very similar to how its done in NWDS.

  • Import leave application from NWDI to NWDS

    Hi,
I want to modify the ESS leave application. I want to define default value in "duration" field of ESS leave webdynpro application.
I have imported the ESS  buisness package into NWDI...  i was also able to import from NWDI into NWDS.
I have imported ess/lea by right clicking on it and then choosed "create project" option...
I want to ask whether is this the correct way or not..
After creating project in NWDS i went into webdynpro perspective i checked all the component, but i did not find the main view of leave request which i want to modify..
I checked in under application..it has leaverequest application.. but i need the view which i am not able to figure out exactly which one it is..
Is there any way we can find easily the view we require...?
    Regards,
    Jigar Oza .

    Hi
Too many thing are involved to reflect  changes in SLD
You can follow a simple workaround
    1. Do what ever u want in your track (But with proper activity and its description also so that in future u will able to identify what is for what )
    2. U can deploy the DC and  check whether your changes is working or not.
    Now
3.Stop all the activity (your activity not track ), and simply change the workspace.(and keep this safe with you)
    4. You have applied all the changes and seen the result also , By changing the workspace u can continue with your work but not in same place  but different .
    5. In future if you/client want to make those changes should migrate , Here u simply open the that workspace in your NWDS  NWDI will keep track of that , and will automatically ask for user id and password .once provided will able to work from there where u were left.
Only thing to take care : Dont do anything like checkin ,activate ,remove etc.

  • Problem with the Browsing of Services Registry in Visual Composer

    Hi,
I have tried to connect Visula Composer of CE 7.1 to the Services Registry for ES Workplace by configuring 3 Web Service destination on my local server:
    1. UDDI_DESTINATION
    2. CLASSIFICATION_DESTINATION
    3. Backend destination "HU2"
as stated in the tutorial "How to Browse an Enterprise Services Registry in Visual Composer" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/605303db-9d5f-2a10-e0a2-c0e1c8af9e96&overridelayout=true).
After the configuration, I opened up the "Search" dialog in Visual Composer and selected "Service Registry" for the "Search in" drop down list and then clicked on the link "Advanced Search". An error message "XMSG_COULD_NOT_LOAD_CLASSIFICATIONS" was then displayed. I have tried to google the error message but to my surprise there wasn't even a single result for that.
Could anyone please help me on this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Joon Meng

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply. It is actually my intention to try out with the Services Registry for ES Workplace. The thing is, I was able to connect my NWDS to the SR, but not in Visual Composer.
Below are the URLs for both destination.
    1. UDDI_DESTINATION: http://sr.esworkplace.sap.com/uddi/wsdl/uddi_v3_service.wsdl
    2. CLASSIFICATION_DESTINATION: http://sr.esworkplace.sap.com/ClassificationService/CS?wsdl
I tried to open the first URL in my browser and a WSDL document was displayed, but for the second URL an error message "503 Service Unavailable" was returned.
Does this mean that the second URL "http://sr.esworkplace.sap.com/ClassificationService/CS?wsdl" might be the cause of the problem?

    Hi ZM
I had the same problem with my service registry. In Web Visual Composer, i didn't find any service in SR.
    I resolve in two ways.
Configure the service registry in NWDS, there works fine, but i have problem with DC in VC in NWDS.
I use destination WSIL, with this destination i have found all the services

    Hi Raghu,
We can view the services by creating a logical destination in the NWDS.
For this purpose we need to do the following steps :-
Window > Preferences > Destination Configuration > R/3 Configuration     -  For ECC destinations
Window > Preferences > Destination Configuration > Web Service Configuration - For Web service.
Please try it and let me know if successfull.
    Regards,
    Brian.
