Migrate ZEN 11 SP2 VM to ZEN 11 virtual appliance

I am trying to migrate to zen 11 SP3 but I keep running into compatibility issues with the tools.
My current system is one primary server running zen 11SP2 on OES2/SLES10 64bit and one 64bit SLES 11 satellite server in a branch office .
What I have tried thus far:
-I have tried adding a zen 11SP3 v-app to the zone and then retire the old OES VM but this is not supported b/c you can't have a SP3 machine in an SP2 zone.
-I then tried adding a zen 11 SP2 v-app to the zone and run the SP3 migration tool but the migration tool fails b/c the tool does not support migrating to a v-app.
Can someone give me some direction on how to move to SP3? Should I use the SP2 mig tool or is there an easier solution?
Thank you,
Brad

My ultimate goal is to have a primary ZEN 11 SP3 server running on a ZEN 11.3 v-app (I do not want to buy a SLES license). Would it be easier to follow the replace/restore a zen primary server documentation? I was really hoping for a tool that would move this a long a lot faster.
This is what I hoped would work:
OES2 (unsupported SLES10)
migrate to
ZEN 11.2 v-app (supported SLES11)
now use migration tool to go
ZEN 11.3 v-app (supported SLES11)
Thanks for the help,
Brad

You can't use the ZENworks Server Migration tool to migrate to (or from)
a ZENworks Virtual Appliance.
Are you trying to use the ZENworks Virtual Appliance as a stepping stone
to your final destination or is it your final destination?
There's no need to migrate from ZENworks 11 SP2 on OES2 to a ZENworks 11
SP2 Virtual Appliance as you can install a supported Linux (can't be
Windows since you have OES2) OS (I'd suggest SLES11 SP3) on another
machine (could be virtual) and then ZENworks 11 SP2 followed immediately
by the 11.2.4 Update (to support SLES11 SP3).

  • Cross forest migration Exchange 2010 SP2 to Exchange 2010 SP2

    Hi,
We are planning cross forest migration Exchange 2010 SP2 to Exchange 2010 SP2.
Requesting you to please help us out for below scenario.
    Source Exchange 2010 SP2:- abc.com
    2AD, 2CAS & 2 MBX servers
    Database:- 4
    Total Users :- 3500
    Accepted Domains :- 8
    Total Data:- 5TB +
    Target Exchange 2010 SP2:- xyz.com
    Resource allocated same as above.
Now we have to migrate users along with data to target forest xyz.com keeping both setup live, as moving 5TB + data will be a ongoing process and the same will take some time.
    With the guidelines mentioned in
http://careexchange.in/cross-forest-migration-guide-exchange-2010-to-exchange-2010/#comment-14203 we are able to migrate test users along with data, but after migration the migrated user is not able to connect through MS Outlook even not able to login into
OWA. It gives error “The Outlook Web App address
    https://mail.abc.com/owa is out of date.”
Kindly let us know how to solve this issue.
Kindly let me know if you want any more information from our end.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks and Regards, Shashank Kudi

    Hi Shashank,
Do you have certificates properly installed and configured in the target Exchange?
If not, Please configure certificate and import the certificate to the trusted root CA if you are using internal CA cert.
    Thanks, MAS
Please mark as helpful if you find my comment helpful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

  • Migration; Exchange 2003 SP2 to Exchange 2013 on new Domain and DC

I wasn't prepared for this task, and it was thrown at me to do...  Eyes are bleeding from planning reading and planning, would LOVE any input from you guys.  First time posting, here and have heard great things about these forums.  The Company
I work for obtained a new client and a network that is in a cluster at the moment, so I'm having to dig through everything and restructure..
    Scenario:
    Old Domain/Server: (To be decommissioned)
Server 2003 Standard SP2 (Domain: cosco.com; NETBIOS name: coscoex)
    Exchange 2003 SP2 (6.5.7638.1)
Server is a domain controller and exchange server.
    Migrating to:
Server 2012 R2 Datacenter (New Domain ad.cosco.com; NETBIOS name: cosco)
    VM #1: Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller at 2012 R2 Functionality
VM #2: Server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 Standard (Not Yet Installed) Joined to ad.cosco.com domain
VM #3: Server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2010 (Not Yet Installed) joined to ad.cosco.com domain
These are probably not ideal conditions, but I have to work with what I'm given.
Host server (2012 R2) is in work group mode.  Hyper V Installed with a VM of Server 2012 R2 and as a DC at a functionality level of Server 2012 R2.  I had intended starting at a lower functionality level and raising
it later, but.... ya I forgot to change it.  If needed I can spool up a new DC with a lower functional level.
DNS, AD and group policy is all jacked up on the 2003 DC so that doesn't matter, All user accounts are going to be created under the new domain.  The concern is migrating the mailboxes from Exchange 2003 on the old domain to
Exchange 2013 on the new domain.  The client is going to provide CSV of the AD accounts that are still valid (a lot of accounts are no longer used or are from people that no longer with the organization.)
I had some ideas, but I'm not sure if they will work.  This is something I have never done before (Senior Engineer Quit).
    My thoughts:
    - Establish a two way trust relationship between the two domains.
    - Create two VM's, one with Exchange 2010 and one with Exchange 2013 (They have a 2010 licence that was not used).
    - Create the users on the new domain
    - Use the double hop method from Exchange 2003 > Exchange 2010 > Exchange 2013
    - Link Exchange accounts to the correct user accounts on the new DC.
Can this be done cleanly? Am I going about this the correct way?  Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.
Note: We are forced to use ad.cosco.com (Obviously not the actual domain name)

    Hi,
Base on my experience, your idea is feasible.
However, before getting started, you should note that Exchange 2010 (with any service pack or update rollups) is not (yet) supported to install on Windows 2012 R2. More details refer to the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx
After all the preparations complete, you can refer to the following articles to migration exchange 2003 to 2010, then to 2013:

  • Is anybody successfully migrated SSRS 2005 SP2 to SSRS 2014?

what I was doing:  Try to migrate the ssrs 2005 sp2 in a old web server to SSRS 2014 in a new server (native mode)
    1. old SSRS web server:  SSRS 2005 SP2 enterprise edition with window server 2003  (server 1)
    2. New SSRS web server:  window server 2012 R2, installed sql server 2014 database engine and SSRS. (server 2)
    3. backup configuration files, encryption key, we have no custom assamblies from the old SSRS web Server (server 1)
    4. Backup the report server databases from the existing old database server. (server 3)  (our SSRS web server and SSRS report server databases are in different servers)
    5. Created the RSExecRole and grantd all the permissions according to the documentation in the sql server 2014 database server (server 4)
    6. Restore the databases to the new database server that is in sql server 2014. (server 4)
    7. Go to server 2 to configure the reporting service using the configuration Manager
I successfully pointed to new databases, but when test the url, I got the error:  The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid or it can not be read.  The found version is '143' and the expected version
    is '162'
I worked with Microsoft technician, and he said I have to upgrade my old SSRS from 2005 SP2 to 2005 SP4 first then do the migration.   But I saw some article saying that I can migrate the SSRS from 2005 SP2 to SSRS 2014.   Any help is
    very much appreciated.
    Li-hui Chen

Thank you Katherine for your reply!  I was able to bring up the reports in my new Report web server when I restore the RS databases onto a sql server 2008 server.  I got the version conflict error when I restore the databases directly onto a sql
server 2014 server.  Our goal is migrating the SSRS 2005 SP2 to SSRS 2014 with databases in sql server 2014. Therefore, I will have to migrate the SSRS 2005 to 2014 but host the Reporting server databases in sql server 2008 R2 first, then
upgrade Reporting Server databases to sql Sql server 2014.
Below steps are what I have done so far to migrate the SSRS from 2005 to 2014:
    1. install sql server 2014 on a new server (RS server 2- SSRS 2014)
    2. backup up config files, encryption key, application files in old reporting server(RS server 1 - SSRS 2005 SP2)
    3. backup the reporting server databases from old database server  (in sql server 2005 sp4) (RS databases server 1)
    4. Move config files and encryption key backup files to new RS server 2.
    5. Move databases backup files to another server (in Sql server 2008 R2 (RS databases server 2)
    6. Restore the backup files to (RS databases server 2)
    7. Configure the Reporting services in new server (RS server 2 - SSRS 2014)
        a. configure URL
        b. change databases connection
        c. Restore the encryption key
    8. Check the reports.
Now, I am able to see all the reports in my new web server(SSRS 2014) and the databases are in the server that is in SQL Server 2008 R2 version.
My collegue will upgrade the database server 2 including the report server databases and some other databases (currently in sql server 2008 R2 version with some other databases).
    1. When she upgrades the database server 2 from sql server 2008 R2 to sql server 2014, do I need to do anything on the new reporting service web server?
    2. I was thinking about that I will need to do the RS databases backup and encryption key backup  before my colleuge do the sql server 2014 upgrade, and after she finish the upgrade, I will then go to new SSRS web server to do the reporting
service configuration using the configuration manager tool.  I will do the database set up and restore the encryption key.  Am I right?
Any comment and suggestion will be great appriciated! Have a nice day!

    Can you help me ?

    Hi,
share out the Sysvol directory. However,  it is recommended that you enable the system to share this directory.
For additional information about enabling the system to share this directory out on its own:      (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257338/EN-US/)
To verify that the Sysvol directory is shared out, you can either open Windows Explorer, or  type
net share at a command prompt to see if the Sysvol share is showing.  By default, the Sysvol share is located in the following folder: %SystemRoot%\Sysvol\Sysvol.
It is also recommended that you check the File Replication Service log.  When replication has completed (with a domain with just one domain controller) the File Replication Service log reports the following event:
Event 13516: The File Replication Service has stopped preventing the computer from becoming a domain controller.
The system volume can take some time to initialize depending on the network.

  • P2V Migration of OES11 SP2 to vmware

    hi,
i am looking for a way to migrate a physical OES11SP2 P2V. To the target Platform vmware.
the vmware converter knocks me out on the NSS Volumes which he simply doesn´t see.
As there is no more coldcloneCD (the last one i have is 4.03) it seems like i am stuck with vmware converter.
    do i oversee something?
I am thinking about the transferID method but that would be much more to do´s and stepstones than a simple *imaging*
    any idea would be appreciated..

    Hi Gertfried,
    what's the problem with the Coldclone-CD? I p2v-ed old Netware 6.5 HP-Proliants G4 with this
CD into ESXi 5.1. Linux shold be much easier. The ColdClone CD runs with Windows. So it has no clue what filsystem ist transfers to the ESXi. Its just copying blocks.
If the Coldclone-CD can't detect your drives .. drop me a line.
    Merry christmas... :-)

  • Migrate from old DMM apppliance to a new DMM appliance

    Hi Netpos,
I have been assigned to the following task: I need to install and configure a new DMM and SNS in order to update the version to 5.3 (since the old servers could have been updated only up to 5.2.2).
My concern is related with the  content (presentations layout, settings, scheduling etc) of the existing appliances.
Is there a way to migrate the content to the new appliances?

    Hi Panayotis,
It is currently not supported to backup DMM/SNS configuration and content from one hardware model and restore them on a different hardware model.
A full migration option from legacy DMM hardware to new one is in plans but not available yet. I would recommend you to follow up on this with your Cisco Account team in order to stay updated on the plan.

    Hello
    I have resolved it !!!
That's usually caused by the database not containing a valid config framework tree. In all cases so far this happened as part of the user killing the java vm in a situation where one should have waited for the cancel button to return.
I restored the target database with the backup
taken before started the migration and rerun the tool on
the target. You can continue to use the MigrationInput.zip file.

  • Creative Zen V Plus and Vi

Is it just me or does my Zen work with Vista on a desktop but not a laptop?

If the purchases you are talking about are DRM-protected files, which is mostly what the iTunes Store sells, they are not compatible with players other than iPod.
All you can do with them is use iTunes to burn them to an *audio CD.* Think how handy it would be to have them on an *audio CD.*
Going forward, do not spend your hard earned money on songs with proprietary DRM protection. There are other online stores, such as amazon.com, that sell the same songs in non-DRM format, which will be compatible with iPod, Zen, or virtually any other player.

  • Creative zen v plus and the belkin char

We discovered something that maybe is so obvious to everyone else but maybe not... we bought the belkin charger that works with our zen v plus. HOWEVER please note the usb cables that come with it and then with the zen v plus are NOT interchangeable. We at first assumed the only difference was the belkin cord was longer but the shorter cable that came with our zen v plus does NOT work with the wall charger. It made our zen lights blink on and off and go wierd and not charge at all but thankfully did not damage our player WHEW!

  • Zen Agent 11.3 upgrade issue

    Hi All,
So I just successfully migrated my entire company that I work for from a single ZCM11.2 Primary, to 2 ZCM11.3 Virtual Appliances and a remote sybase database server. Was fun, but now im trying to update all of our existing machines Zenworks Agents to 11.3, most of them upgraded and moved to successful status in the deployment history, but some just stay in pending even though the agent has indeed been upgraded. Those machines already have been rebooted and verified that it installed correctly. These machines are keeping this system update Deployment from baselining. How do i manually change their status to Successful?
    Thanks all!

I have what sounds like this same problem. At the moment, 880 out of roughly 4300 computers are sitting in "Pending" status, even though the overwhelming majority of them were actually installed from scratch with the Agent version which is due to be deployed. (We install the Agent on the image, for what that may matter.)
One thing I've noticed is that although the System Update in question lists those computers as Pending, and the same System Update is listed in the "Assigned System Updates" pane in the workstation objects for those computers, if I go to primaryserver/zenworks-systemupdate/, select "Test service", select the "getAssignedSystemUpdates" option, and enter the GUID from one of those computers, it lists no system updates as available.
I've noticed that behavior both for computers which have the new Agent already, and for ones which still have an older one. In the cases of computers which have an older one, if I enter the system's GUID and the appropriate system-update GUID into the "setDeviceUpdateStatus" form, the System Update then shows up under getAssignedSystemUpdates and the computer initiates the update normally. (However, even assuming it would be safe - see below - doing this with 880 computers would not be practical.)
I have not tried doing this with one of the computers which already has the new Agent, because I don't know what trying to deploy a System Update that's already installed might do, and I don't have a test case (exhibiting the symptoms) which I know I can safely risk.
We recently reimaged a large number of computers, and I noticed that at that point the number of systems with Pending status went down significantly - it used to be well over 1000, I think by a good few hundred. I don't know what bearing this might have on matters, but it seemed worth mentioning.
Any ideas of anything I could try here?
Just for the record, this is with ZENworks 11.2.2. We're looking at deploying 11.2.4 or possibly 11.3 within the next couple of months, but I'd like to get 11.2.2 officially Baselined before doing that, and that requires clearing up these hundreds of computers which are showing Pending status.

  • Incorrect display of portal pages after migration to EP7

    Hello,
after the migration from EP 6 to EP 7 some of the portal pages do not diplay correctly (for example user administration -> identity management, content administration -> webdynpro, system administration -> system configuration -> UME configuration). They show up as plain text, no theme is applied to these pages and navigation on these pages is not possible.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have searched in the SAP OSS and here on the SDN, but didn't find anything. The SAP support hasn't been able to help me so far.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Nicole

    Hi Nicole,
we had the same problem with our migration from EP6 SP2 to NW04 and upgrade to NW04s.
The solution is to import the EP6 theme to the EP7 portal.
After that, everything should display ok.
to transport themes, go in portal to :
System Adm \ Portal Display \ Theme archive
Just export your themes from the EP6 portal.
Then in the 2004s portal, go to :
System Adm \ Portal Display \ Theme archive
    Then import the EP6 Themes.
    I hope this will help.

  • EP6 to EP7 migration

I am proposing to migrate from EP6 SP2 to EP7 but I have been told that I first need to migrate to WAS 6.40.
    Is this necessary?
My gut feel is to install EP7 and then just export all the portal objects I need from EP6 SP2 into EP7.
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
At a silicon valley client we did the later (your gut feeling) because the underlying was already on 6.40 SP12, and there was only a few iViews. You can migrate EP 6.0 SP2 straight to NW'04 SP16 which will take you to 6.40.
    Supported Migration Paths;
    EP 5.0 SP6 -> EP 6.0 on WebAS 6.40 SP14...SP16
    or
    EP 6.0 SP2 on WebAs 6.20 -> EP 6.0 on WebAS 6.40 SP14...SP16

  • EP6 Migration to NW04 - J2EE requirements

    Hi Guru's
We are in the process of migrating our Portal from EP6 sp2 to NW04 and the tool we are using to migrate is "EP60MIGTOOL_8".
It seems as if this tool requires J2EE version 6.40 on the source system.
Is this correct and do we have to upgrade our J2ee engine to 6.40 on the source system ??
    Regards,
    Morgan Moodley

    Hi Morgan,
when you migrate from EP6 SP2 to NW04, you need two systems.
The source system, with EP6 SP2, at least PL30
The target system, with EP6 NW04, at least SP16 (maybe 17 now).
You execute the migration tools on the EP6 NW04 system, that copy KM/PCD data via the network .
