Migrating clients from one DHCP server (in forest A) to a new DHCP server (in forest B)

The scenario:  clients have recently been migrated from one forest to a new forest but are currently using the DHCP server located in the old forest.  The goal is to force the clients to start leasing from the new DHCP server in the new forest
as soon as possible.  The users are still on the same network segment with the same address range.  There is currently DNS forwarding between the two forests.

Keep in mind, during the transition, DNS for both the old forest and the new forest must have resolution setup between them, such as using Forwarding. This way with configuring DNS for DHCP clients (DHCP option 006), they'll still be able to resolve
the new forest name still using the old DNS. However, keep in mind, registration will not work until you switch over to the new forest's DNS.
As for Option 015, the Connection Specific Search Suffix, I would avoid using that until all machines have been migrated.

  • Migrate tracks from one server to another

Hello, I've read a few guides how to migrate tracks from one server to another, but it doesn't help me.
    What I've done:
    1) I've exported my SC from SLD at my old server
    2) Then imported it at my new server
    3) Updated CMS from SLD
    4) Created a track at my new server and added imported SC
Then I have to import my SC from old server with sources and there is some errors happens for me.
First option: I have exported my SC from CMS, but the SCA file is about 5kB. I unzipped it and there was ARCHIVESOURCE folder but it hasn't anything seems to be my sources. That file is checked-in successfully through the transport studio, but no sources imported into DTR.
Second option: I have exported the SCA file by using NWDS. It's exported OK, size ~1.3MB, ARCHIVESOURCE folder with mine sources. But when I try to check-in it, it fails with an error "import failed, because the sources are not contained in the archive
Could anybody helps me to achieve my task? I stuck with source import.

    Hi Kirill,
important to know that assembly ALWAYS uses the CONS/ACTIVE workspace for SCA generation.
If you for instance create a change (an activity), and you activate and release it but you don't import this activity into CONS, then it won't be part of the CONS/active and then due to obvious reasons assembly won't produce the sources either (no possibility to do an explicit activation on cons level as here a force activation takes place at import, but of course the import into cons is a necessary step, because as mentioned assembly uses the cons/active).
Can you please confirm/deny how this scenario looks like on your end?
    Thank you!
    Best Regards,
    Ervin

  • Proper way to migrate schema from one DS5.2 to another

What is the best error free way to migrate schema from one Directory Server 5.2 to another.
    Thanks,

I have migrated schema from 5.1 to 5.2 and below are my experiences. Check if this helps you in any way.
    - After overwriting 99user.ldif from 5.1 to 5.2; experienced problems in starting the DS 5.2 instance. On looking into the logs, few object classes and attributes gave problems.
    - Modified 99user.ldif in DS 5.2 by appending schema values group by group. Able to start DS 5.2 instance without problems
    - Migrated data (ldif file) via ldif2db command to DS 5.2
    - Encountered problems in DS 5.2; Suffix got dissappeared after migrating the data and a restart of DS 5.2 instance. Upon looking logs and few troubleshooting steps, found the aci's in the data file creating problems
    - Removed aci's in data (ldif file) manually and migrated using ldapmodify command and it worked

  • How to Preserve UDA when Migrating Clients from 2012 Heirarchy to 2012 R2 Heirarchy

We are preparing to migrate 2500 workstation clients from one 2012 R2 hierarchy to another. How can we preserve UDA so that we don't have to wait for it to be automatically generated? This would impact our ability to provide support.

    I would say PowerShell. Use
Get-CMUserDeviceAffinity to get the information in the old environment and use
Import-CMUserDeviceAffinity to import the information in the new environment.

  • Migrate clients from Exchange 2013 to a different Exchange 2013

    Hi,
We are planning to migrate an Exchange 2013 instance to a centralized one. The question is how to deal with the Outlook OST mail files left over from the old instance and were wondering what best practices in this regard there may be.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

    Hi,
Do you mean you want to migrate mailbox from one Exchange server to another Exchange server? If it is, we can directly move the whole mailbox to another mailbox server instead of Exporting/Importing a mailbox to PST file.
If you want to migrate a large number of user mailboxes, we can
specify a CSV file when you use the Exchange admin center (EAC) or the New-MigrationBatch cmdlet in the Exchange Management Shell to create a migration batch.
Here are some detailed information about mailbox moves in Exchange 2013:

Is there any way to migrates Notes from one iPhone to another without backup restore?

    HI Amir,
Checkboxes evaluate as TRUE when checked, FALSE when empty.
    For your example:
    C1: =IF(B1,A1,"")
Works with text (as shown), numbers, or the results of formulas in the source cells.
The last argument, "" inserts a null string in the cell containing the formula, making the cell appear 'blank'.

    Barry.

  • Migrating data from one databaes to oracle?

is there any way to migrate my data from my old/previous database to oracle db.
ie. migrating data from one databaes to another.

If you are using Oracle 9i, look at external tables. Otherwise, dumping your data to text files and using SQL*Loader to load it into Oracle tables is a good option. There are various tools and utilities you might look into, including ODBC and migration toolkit. I prefer the SQL*Loader method for DBase, FoxPro, and Access.

I can migrate sccm clients from sccm 2007 to sccm 2012 using sccm 2007 package with sccm 2012 client?

Thanks for help me Peter and Torsten but this documentation says:
"You cannot upgrade Configuration Manager 2007 clients to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager by using this method.
In this scenario, use automatic client upgrade, which automatically creates and deploys a package that contains the latest version of the client."

  • How to migrate site from one account to another

I want to migrate site from one account subscription to another account subscription. Both account owners are different.

I'm afraid you cannot transfer purchased items from one account to another: this is a limitation imposed by the copyright owners. However recent purchases from the iTunes Store are not DRM-protected so you may be able to play them anyway if you manually copy them across. You will need to drag the out of the original iTunes to a folder on the desktop, and then transfer that to your new Mac and drag them into iTunes there. Try it with a few there and see if it works.
Should you have any movies, though, these cannot  be transferred.

  • Issues migrating config from one MDS9148 to another

Hi, I am trying to migrate the configuration from one Cisco MDS9148 16 port switch to a new MDS9148 48 port switch. To achieve this I have logged onto the 16 port switch via Device Manager clicked Admin then Copy Configuration then using ftp copied the configuration from StartupConfig to serverFile (using a location on my laptop).
This created a text file on my laptop which upon opening did appear to have captured the 16 port switches configuration. I modified this file to change the management IP address of the switch to match the one already assigned to the 48 port switch.
I then copy this across to the new 48 port fabric switch by connecting to it via Device Manager and clicking Admin -> Copy Configuration then using ftp copy from serverFile to runningConfig (the option to copy to fabricStartupConfig is not allowed). At this point I lose connectivity to the 48 port switch and every time I attempt to access via Device Manager receive error messages stating it cannot authenticate the connection.
Should the above process work and if not is there a documented process to achieve what I am trying to do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve.

To move files from Account A to Account B:
    1) Log in as A
    2) Move all the files to /Users/A/Public (don't move any system-created folders like Documents, Pictures, etc. Just move their contents.)
    3) Log in as B
    4) Navigate with Finder to /Users/A/Public
    5) Drag the files to the Desktop (this will make new copies of them with correct permissions for B)
    6) File the new files away in the appropriate places in B's home folder
    7) Log in as A and delete the original copies of the files from A's home folder
If you have already moved files from A to B the incorrect way (i.e. by using /Users/Shared) and are running into permissions issues, fix them by logging in to an Admin account and entering these two Terminal commands:
sudo chown -R userb ~userb (this one changes ownership of everything in B's home folder to B)
sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~userb (this one ensures that B can read and write to everything in his home folder)

Mail has gone crazy. Header's and messages are mixed up. New Mac Book Pro. Migrated files from Time machine running snow leopard. Reinstall or new computer needed?

Ok; I'm not sure what you're doing.    36 hours is rather long.  Seems like a new migration.  Not what I intended.
Here's what I intended: from the newly-migrated and apparently-corrupt environment, create a new user, not related to any existing user, nor any migration-created user, or any other user for that matter.  That is, use  > System Preferences > Users and Groups, authenticate yourself by clicking on the padlock, and then click the + and create a wholly new user.  Then log in under that user and establish the mail access.
36 hours?  I'm wondering if there's an error or an exceedingly slow network here?  Or a really, really slow disk?  Or a sick backup?  (WiFi isn't the path I'd usually choose, either.)
Failing the attempted second migration, I'd try a different tactic.  Does your existing (old) system work?   If so, I'd bypass the backup and connect an external (scratch) USB disk drive to the (old) sstem and then boot and use Disk Utility booted from the installer DVD disk or boot and use Disk Utility from the recovery partition or booted from a recovery partition created on some other external storage (details here vary by the OS X version and what hardware you have), and perform a full-disk backup of your original internal disk to (scratch) external storage.  (Make sure you get the source and target disks chosen correctly here; copying the wrong way — from the scratch disk to your existing disk — will clobber your data!)  In esssence, this will clone your existing boot disk.  Then dismount the (formerly-scratch) external disk, transfer it over to the new system, and use it as the source of the migration, by performing a fresh OS X installation on the new system.
Target Disk Mode is also sometimes an option for accessing the disk for a migration, but that requires the right cable, and requires systems that have the same external connection; newer MacBook Pro systems use Thunderbolt for this, and older systems tend to use FireWire.  And I'm guessing you don't have compatible hardware.
The details here can and do vary by your OS X versions and your particular Mac systems — if you'll identify the specific models and hardware, somebody might be able to better tailor the above (fairly generic) sequence to your particular configuration.
