Migrating CUA on SSM 3.1 to SSM 7.00

Guys,
We have a completely empty (ie no SSM related customising) SSM 3.1 system running Central User Admin.
We want to move to the latest SSM incl EHP1.
Rather than perform an upgrade (CU & UC conversion required I guess) I think it would be quicker and easier to just perform a new install of 7.
My question is ....can I then simply perform a client copy to use CUA on the new system or am I being too optimistic
Your experience/ knowledge/feedback is greatly appreciated!
Regards
Alan

Hi,
I have some experience of CUA migration. All data for users is still available in satellite systems so the best way is to set-up the new solution manager and then configure cua again.
1. disconnect satellite client from current CUA system ( transaction SCUA)
2. connect it to new CUA (again SCUA)
3. transfer all user and company addresses to new cua (transaction SCUG).
4. repeat this for all central managed clients
5. configure where user attributes are maintained (transaction SCUM).

  • CUA to IDM migration

    Hi all,
Can you suggest me how to go with below questions
    1) how do we migrate CUA to IDM ? any step guide available.
IDM SAP insder document approach says
u30FBu3000Install SAP NetWeaver Identity Management on top of CUA.
u30FBu3000Start connecting the ABAP systems to SAP NetWeaver Identity Management and
        u3000u3000disconnecting   them from CUA.
u30FB When you have disconnected the last ABAP system from CUA, you can then
u3000shut down CUA to complete a successful migration
    >> my understanding is CUA Is SU01 transaction in ABAP, what does it mean by install iDM on top of CUA and shutdown CUA after migration..
    Need clarification on this
    2) for IDM setup, Seperate server is must? and does it require seperate licence other than Netweaver.

    Hi Jaichan,
    1) During CUA migration to IDM, Does it require any settup inside CUA system required or not.
No Changes in current CUA required. IDM will be installed separately.

    2) Does the collecting process from Non-SAP/SAP to IDM system is just copying to User master tables or its really mapping one to one(and synchronising automatically). Need more details technically.
No. In IDM, HCM or any other system can supply the basic data. However before connecting other systems, it will be better idea to take all users data from CUA.
Once the Users are in IDM, have to do role/priv settings and provisioning the same to other systems.

    3) Also i would like to know technically how Non-SAP-ADS source can be synchronised with IDM.
Can you specify the document name for this.
    4) I think customers Using LDAP with Java to synchronise with CUA, how LDAP part is
taken care by IDM. Suggestion please

  • Regarding Initial load for CUA

we are testing CUA migration in  IDM7.0 version.
Already below systems exists in my place
    1)IDM7.0
    2)CUA System(ABAP)
    3)ABAP systems(Child for CUA system)
Now how to integrate CUA with IDM7.0 and Migrate CUA User information. Instead of Connecting each abap system with IDM, we plan to connect CUA and take all the data to IDM.
so how to do this? Executing Initial load for CUA system will solve this problem ? or any particular process available.
    please suggest us.
    regards

    hi mathew,
    thanks for your reply
Actually our initial step is to find to what extend CUA system information can be taken ove(Migrate) to IDM.
I feel It would be better to take all the Child system user info from CUA at one point rather than connecting each abap system with IDM. so that i can disconnect CUA once IDM is established.
So wondering how to integrate CUA system with IDM7.0, Executing Initial load for CUA system is same
as executing initial load fo ABAP system.
    please shed light on this.

  • CUA on dedicated client or not?

    Dear all,
we have CUA under Solution Manager productive client. But we can't decide if this is correct or not. Because SOLMAN is a productive system with other scenarios (service desk, etc) we don't know if this mixing (CUA and Service desk) is correct. As we search in (manuals, notes, forums) we didn't found any specifi answer if CUA client must be in a standalone client and why.
According to "SAP Help" you must install CUA technology in different standalone client. But we can't find restrictions or implact if we mix the CUA with another CLIENT in landscape.
Of course, if install CUA in dedicated client, then you have one more step in the complexity. And we don't know if this complexity can help us somewhere.
Does anyone have an idea on that?
    Thanks in advance,

Ok yes i agree,  but in our company we have full implemented roles and authorizations for all users in our landscape. And because we are under "SOX" policy we have lot of restrictions in authorizations objects.
So, technically speaking i agree to migrate CUA in dedicated client, but i need help to persuade our technical management team for the real advantages of increasing complexity in our landscape.
    Thanks,

  • Replacimg performance Manager with SSM(SAP Strategy management)

    Hi,
Can any body tell me  how to migrate all the scorecards, KPIs  based on Performance Manager to SAP Strategy Management. Is there is a tool for that in SSM if not should those be rebuilt in SSM from the scratch.
how do we replicate everything fromPM to  SSM
From the developer perspective what will their tasks.
    Edited by: chrisbaker1999 on Jun 16, 2011 1:01 PM

    Chris,
What the External Data Loader does is to allow you to transfer your scorecard structure from Performance Manager to Strategy Management. What you are importing is the structure of Contexts, Perspectives, Objectives and KPI aspects. It allows you to put all of these in the loader, verify the structure in the loader, and then using Transport to bring into SSM.
There are additional definitions and settings that SSM requires that will have to be added after you Transport the loader's data.
You will still have to build PAS models separately, because the External Data Loader does not build models.
The Transporter tool in SSM allows you to export (and then import) your scorecard metadata from DEV to PROD. Moving between systems is a two-step process, and Transporter is step one. PAS is separate (step two) and you make a dump of the model in your DEV system, take that dump file from the Home directory in DEV and move it to the Home directory in PROD. In the PROD system you create a new PAS model frame and then load that dump into the new framework.
Each SAP customer has a super-administrator that can add users to the SAP Service Marketplace. Find out who your super-admin is and get yourself added to allow you access to those areas on Service Marketplace.

    Bob

  • SSM and Performance Manager

I will be migrating a client from Performance Manager to SSM. I understand the capabilities of SSM but have never used Performance Manager. Is these material that compares the two, or even a good description of Performace Manager.
    Thanks

    Hi,
SAP Strategy Management is the product that is designated as the route for the future and replaces Performance Manager.
The product has a long history as PilotWorks from Pilot Software prior to the acquisition of Pilot by SAP. It is increasingly being integrated into the SAP/BOBJ environment and with version 7.5 now on general release supports Business Objects Enterprise for authentication and the data in the underlying multidimensional OLAP database (PAS) is available to Business Objects tools through web services. The PAS database can store all the actuals targets etc and you can manipulate this data to reflect your needs. SSM is structured around u2018Contextsu2019 which are a u2018view of the worldu2019 so that you can have contexts for geographical or organisational slices through the organisation which can all roll up all the way to organisational level.

  • SSM and BPC - Implementation Options and Concerns

    Hi,
I am hoping that someone can assist with some BPC/SSM implementation queries.
Until recently, our client was intending to implement SEM-CPM and SEM-BPS. Now, our client is considering the implementation of SSM and BPC. This raises a number of questions with regards to these products and their integration with Netweaver 7.0. Kindly see my questions/comments below:
    <b><u>BPC</u></b>
<b>1.</b> Our client intends to implement BPC 5.1 immediately and then migrate to BPC 7.0 once the integration with BW is provided for. Until BPC 7.0 becomes available, it was assumed that BPC could exchange data with SAP BW by means of a flat file export/import process. From a technical perspective, is this assumption correct? Would you recommend this approach? Are there other ways to enable this data exchange?
<b>2.</b> In order to allow for effective data exchange between BW and BPC, we will need to replicate the BW cubes in BPC and update these cubes with the required BW master and meta data. In this case, I understand that data integrity and synchronization between BW and BPC is very difficult to maintain. What are your views in this regard? What steps can be taken to improve this sychronisation process?
<b>3.</b> SAP has committed to provide BPC/BW integration next year. Considering this, do you recommend that we begin with a BPC 5.1 implementation now or do you recommend that we wait until the integration is provided in version BPC 7.0.?
    <b><u>SSM</u></b>
<b>1.</b> Does PilotWorks exist in Unix and what data base must it use?
<b>2.</b> What is the maturity of the mapping tool used to map SAP to Pilot Works?
<b>3.</b> Is there any data that must reside in Pilot Works or can all data be centralised   in BW?
<b>4.</b> Is there any workstation setup necessary to run Pilot Works off a desktop?
    <b><u>General CPM</u></b>
<b>1.</b> Even though we are still deciding which planning/balanced scorecard tool is ideal, we intend to begin immediately with the BW data modeling process. Is it reasonable to assume that the eventual decision to implement BPC or SSM will NOT have a significant impact on the data model from a functional or technical perspective? Obviously, we do not wish to build a data model that will be incompatible with BPC/SSM or that will place limitations on BPC/SSM functionality.   If BPC/SSM will impact data modelling, what points should we take into consideration when preparing our data model in BW? For example, what data locking issues exist in BPC and how will this impact our BW data modelling?
I would greatly appreciate any assistance/views.
    Thanks,
    Ross

    Hi Ross
Tried to answer your questions on BPC/CPM, my collegues in SSM will answer your SSM queries:

You can use informatica with whom SAP have a OEM agreement, to facilitate this process
    3. SAP has committed to provide BPC/BW integration next year. Considering this, do you recommend that we begin with a BPC 5.1 implementation now or do you recommend that we wait until the integration is provided in version BPC 7.0.?
You should start with 5.1 implementation and later migrate to 7.0. With that you can start using the functionality and only the platform layer will change later

There will not be any compromises on functionality and therefore you should be good to have any data model within BPC model

  • How to transport  KPI, Initiative, milestone,...from SSM2007 into SSM 7.5

    Dear all,
My current system is SSM version 2007, it doesn't have Netweaver CE installed.
So, I want to know how can we transport our existing Context, Perspective, Objective, KPI, Initiative, milestone...?
from the old version 2007 into version 7.5 that i just installed.
In SSM version 7.5 we use transport tool, but in SSM version 2007 i really don't know how.
    thanks, if any answers

    Hi Chamnap,
Because the metadata in SSM 2007 was in a file structured database (SQLite) and the metadata in newer versions are in other structures (SQL Server, Oracle, etc) with different formats, limits, etc. you won't be able to migrate all the information yourself from one version to the other one, instead you need SAP Support to migrate them for you.
There are some steps on how to do this in the migration guide.
    I hope this helps.

  • Scripting option difference between SSMS 2012 and all previous versions

    Hi,
I recently started to use SSMS 2012 (11.0.2100.60) and have seen some differences in scripting behavior of this version with previous ones (since V9). In previous versions when I want to modify a stored procedure, I right clicked on it
and selected “Modify”, and had a nice ALTER script. Now, I have a script using sp_executesql which is really not handy for SQL validation checks. After a research, I figured that I can change this behavior in the scripting options by changing the option “check
for object existence”. Great, it makes the deal!! In fact, no, because now, when I ask to script a DROP and CREATE on a table, I do not have the IF EXSIST part before the DROP anymore.
The behavior I try to have is:
When I hit “modify” on a procedure or other programmatic part, I would like to have an alter statement (DROP CREATE is fine too).
When I choose to script out an object as DROP and CREATE, I would like to have an existence check before the drop.
This is basically what SSMS did before the version 11 and was very helpful.
    Regards,
    Stef, DBA

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
What do you think about the behavior?
Personally, I checked the links you sent. I cannot agree with sentences like “who cares about the outcome of the DROP when the CREATE
will still work”. When a script runs, it should run without errors, otherwise, how will you detect real issues in the noise? It’s like talking about “normal bug”. Also, “the create procedure must be in its own batch”, that’s what we did with the batch separator
    GO.
A proper way to script database modifications (outside the tables itself) is to drop the object if it exists and to create it after.
Why? Because it works in any cases! Also, when I try to modify code, it’s convenient to have validation check against, and that’s why it’s convenient not to have dynamic code. It’s like coding large web sites in notepad. That’s what SSMS 10.50 and below did
    perfectly.
I use script DROP CREATE capability when I prepare a migration script. Why should I write code when I have tools doing it for me? As
a DBA, I have to be critic about the script generated and to adapt it if necessary. The MODIFY option is when I debug some code. I expect the tool to validate as much mistakes as possible (yes I do mistakes and I admit it). Like I said before, it’s like working
with notepad as coding tool, it works, but who will do it?
I really would like to know if I’m alone on this position.
Just to make it easier to understand for other people, the following code is what is generated.
With SSMS 10.50.2806.0 (include IF NOT EXISTS clause = true):
Scripting a table as “DROP and CREATE”:
    IF
    EXISTS
    (SELECT
    FROM
    sys.objects
    WHERE
    object_id
    =
    OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[ScrapTable]')
    AND
    type
    in
    (N'U'))
    DROP
    TABLE [dbo].[ScrapTable]
    GO
    CREATE
    TABLE [dbo].[ScrapTable](
                    [ScrapID] [int]
    NOT
    NULL
    ON [PRIMARY]
    GO
Right click on my stored procedure and hit “Modify”:
    ALTER

    AS
    BEGIN
    SET
    NOCOUNT
    ON;
    SELECT
    FROM dbo.ScrapTable
    END
With SSMS 11.0.2200.60 (check for object existence = false):
Scripting a table as “DROP and CREATE”:
    DROP
    TABLE
    [dbo].[ScrapTable]
    GO
    CREATE
    TABLE
    [dbo].[ScrapTable](
    [ScrapID]

Right click on my stored procedure and hit “Modify”:
    ALTER
    PROCEDURE
    [dbo].[GetScrap]
    AS
    BEGIN
    SET
    NOCOUNT
    ON;
    SELECT
    FROM
    dbo.ScrapTable
    END
With SSMS 11.0.2200.60 (check for object existence = true):
Scripting a table as “DROP and CREATE”:
    IF
    EXISTS
    (SELECT
    FROM
    sys.objects
    WHERE
    object_id
    =
    OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[ScrapTable]')
    AND
    type
    in
    (N'U'))
    DROP
    TABLE
    [dbo].[ScrapTable]
    GO
    IF
    NOT
    EXISTS
    (SELECT
    FROM
    sys.objects
    WHERE
    object_id
    =
    OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[ScrapTable]')
    AND
    type
    in
    (N'U'))
    BEGIN
    CREATE
    TABLE
    [dbo].[ScrapTable](
    [ScrapID]
    [int]
    NOT
    NULL
    ON
    [PRIMARY]
    END
    GO
Right click on my stored procedure and hit “Modify”:
    IF
    EXISTS
    (SELECT
    FROM
    sys.objects
    WHERE
    object_id
    =
    OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[GetScrap]')
    AND
    type
    in
    (N'P',
    N'PC'))
    BEGIN
    EXEC

    AS
    BEGIN
                    SET NOCOUNT ON;
                    SELECT * FROM dbo.ScrapTable

SSMS 11.0 does it definitely in another way.

  • Installing and configuring a brand new SSM

    Hi,
Our company decided to switch SSM platform, from the current Windows Server 2003 32 bit with MaxDB to a Windows Server 2003 64bit with MS SQL Server.
We've just installed a brand new SSM system on the new platform and we're now going to start its configuration.
We do not want to migrate any data from the previous installation, so a system copy will not be needed.
    However, we have this question:
What is the procedure to "detach" the old SSM (it only does Early Watch alerts and has the System Landscape maintained)?
Is it necessary or just configuring the new SSM will be enough?
    Thanks
    Antonio

    Hi António Barrote
If your old system is getting satellite system data using TMS/LIS rfc, then you have to remove your old solman from the Transport route.
If the datasource is SLD, then you can stop the communication using the tcode SMSY_SETUP Edit--> Expert settings. Remove the SLD server entry from there.

  • SSM 10 landscape - deploy on existing Portal?

    Good day,
We are currently on SSM 7.5. deployed on a standalone NW CE 7.1 system as required.
In the near future we like to move to SSM 10. SSM10 gets deployed on a NW 7.3 system.
Now that you do not require a CE system anymore:  Any critical reason why we should not go and deploy SSM on our NW7.3 based internal Portal and so get rid of having this standalone SAP NW instance for SSM?
    Many thanks,
    Adriaan

    Adriaan,
As long as your larger NetWeaver installation is 7.3 and has AS JAVA it should be possible to run SSM10 on it, though I do not believe SSM10 has been tested for that. You do have to be able to accomodate Cube Builder and Entry & Approval, so there will be the necessary data store and access needs, along with working with PAS.
If you are interested, you might want to ask about getting involved in Ramp Up for SSM10. This is a great opportunity to get some extra attention if you were looking to migrate sooner rather than later.

    Hi,
When I am updating schema in SSM 7.0, I am getting below error:
An Error has occurred in the scipt on this page.

Error:     'out1.1' is null or not an object

Here I am loading cube from BW system.
    Thanks
    Anuj

    Hi Anuj,
You mention in your first post you are loading cube. Are you really mapping a BW infocube to a PAS model? It is usually a good idea to build a query on top of the cube, makes it easier to control what is being imported to PAS.
Anyway, besides that message, can you find any error in the trace file? Search in the home folder for the trace file BICTRACE_SCHEMA_xxxxPBI.

  • Diagram Not getting displayed on the Front End UI in SSM 7.5

    Hello ,
We are running SSM 7.5 SP 04. We uploaded a custom image using diagram manager for the required context in the administration UI. The image is uploaded successfully. But , when I open the strategy tab for my context in the front end UI , I am getting a "HTTP 500 Page cannot be displayed error".
I restarted the listeners and the JPIP sessions as well. But still the error persists. Please advise.

It is possible to successfully upload a strategy map into Diagram Manager and still not see it in the User Interface. After loading the goal diagram has to be Published To Server. You do that in Diagram Manager.
You can upload a strategy map and Save that in Strategy Default in Administrator Interface, but unless you Publish it, it will not be exposed to the end users.
In the Set Strategy Defaults area of the Administrator Interface, in the Create or Edit Goal Diagrams section. The Goal Diagram you loaded should have a Publish Date next to it. If it says Not Published, you need to Edit that Goal Diagram in Diagram Manager,
In Diagram Manager under FILE at the top, choose Publish to Server.
You now should see a Publish Date in the Administrator interface and Saving it will now make it available on the user side.
    Regards,
    Bob

  • SSMS 2014 File Extensions

Why can't I associate file extensions within SSMS 2014?  I want .TAB, .PRC, .UDF, etc. to open as a .SQL file would, i.e. connected to a server and with appropriate syntax colour coding.
Adding an extension in Tools\Options\Text Editor\File Extensions has no effect.  This is using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 12.0.2000.8.
    Worth lodging a bug report?

That's not the problem.  Files such as .PRC or .UDF will open within SSMS 2014 when double-clicked from Explorer, however they don't have syntax colouring, don't offer the option to specify a server connection and can't be executed, (not surprising
if they're not connected to a server!).
This looks like a bug that was previously reported in SQL 2012, which if this is the case, is frankly pathetic from MS.  Every organisation I've worked for differentiate their database object types by these kind of file extensions, so my current employer
is certainly not unique in this.  IF this can't be resolved I'll have to pay for something that will work, such as Quest's Toad product, not ideal when I've already paid a huge sum of money for SQL Server.
