Migrating Designer 1.3.2 from Oracle7 to Oracle 8.1.7

Hello,
Has anyone some experience with migration of a Designer 1.3.2-repository in Oracle7 to an Oracle8i-database (8.1.7)?
This will probably not be certified, but does it work anyway?

Thank you for your reply, Headstart Team, but unfortunately this wasn't really what I was looking for.
I've read various migration guides (Designer, Headstart) but what I'm really looking for are real numbers and facts like:
* what was the amount of time that the migration took at a particular company for a
particular application (how many forms/reports) ?;
* Was the migration a (relatively) smooth operation ?;
* Were there any particular hick-ups ?
I hope someone can supply me with these...

Data migration from SAP to Oracle

Can any one suggest best possible method for migrating master and transactional data from SAP to Oracle.
Please suggest methods to get data in text file from SAP.

Best approach would be to use Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) outbound from SAP inbound to Oracle. There are two widely used standards in EDI messages - ANSI X12 and EDIFACT; I'm pretty sure the Oracle system will be able to accept one of the two standards or both.
In my last message, when I asked if Oracle is able to receive and process IDocs, I actually meant if Oracle will be able to accept and process EDI messages. IDocs are containers of the EDI message i.e. a data container - their formats are SAP proprietary formats which will not make sense to your target system (Oracle). EDI has been around for many years and is the standard way of electronically exchanging business documents between computer systems of business partners, using a standard format over a communication network.
In regards to your question - I'm not really sure if you want to send master/transactional data real-time from SAP to Oracle or want to transfer the historical data i.e. download from SAP tables (thru SE16 - this will download the field labels as well) into text files and then upload it to Oracle by using a custom program which reads/maps the files then posts the transactional data/updates master data tables in Oracle as required by that system. So let me know as much details as possible.

Migration from DB2 to Oracle issue

I'm migrating an old legacy system from DB2 to Oracle but have the following trouble:
The queries that the app executes have some DB2-specific syntax such as DATE function, example:
select * from TABLE where date_col > DATE('2010/01/01');
The above query works on DB2 but not in Oracle (should be changed to use TO_DATE function but this is not possible initially)
I could create a function in the Oracle db called DATE, something like:
create function date (p_date varchar2) return date is
begin
return to_date(p_date)
end date;
create public synonym date for sys.date;
But DATE is a reserved word and I can't use it as function name
Do you know any way of making the above query work against an Oracle db or transforming the query text before being parsed?

DATE is a reserved word and thus you need to recode the statement. For example the migration utility is commonly adding an underscore to the function - and this requires again a recoding of the source statements.

Migration from Unidata to Oracle 9i(Rel 2.0)

Can anybody help me how to migrate the legacy system from Pic Basic and Uindata to ASP(3.0) and Oracle 9i(Rel 2.0) platform on Windows 2000 environment ?.
Actually I have the idea of converting Multivalue fields in unidata to Oracle through nested tables in Oracle.
But I want to know how to convert or migrate legacy systems's database from unidata to Oracle, the Pic basic code , subroutines or methods written on Pic basic to PL/SQL.
Is there any solution availabe which can convert legacy systems's unidata database ,all codes and subroutines written in Pic basic natively to Oracle 9i without converting or writing any extra code ?

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Migrating Designer 2.1.2 to 9.2.0.9, access rights problem

I am trying to migrate Designer from 2.1.2 to 9.2.0.9 and got some problems in access rights. We have about 30 sub-ordinate users and over 30 different applications in our Repository.
In Designer 2.1.2, if a user shared a table from an application to another user's application, that user was not allowed to change any properties of the original table. In Designer 9.2.0.9 it seems that you can change the properties in the property palette, but if you try to save the changes, you then get an error message.
Can somebody tell me if this is really an error or just a feature of Designer 9i?

Just for the record. I found the solution to my problem. Checking more logs I read this:
The installation has encountered a unrecoverable internal error. For further assistance report the following information to your support provider.
"/usr/local/cm/script/cm-dbl-ontape_backup-install RU PostInstall 9.1.2.11900-12 7.1.5.30000-1 /usr/local/cm/ /common/component/database /common/log/install/capture.txt " terminated. Exceeded max time (240)
The system will now halt.
So I accessed the Dissaster Recovery Section on CUCM and deleted the tape backup device that was configured there. After deleting it the upgrade went well.

If you are checking for CREATE option then Sales Doc Type
For more Info goto SWO1 transaction -> BUS2032 --> DIsplay --> Execute --> There SELECT the method which you want to perform... There you can fine the MANDATORY parameters also....
Or in DISPLAY mode PLACE Cursor on the Required Method and CLick the PARAMETERS button on toolbar...
That will show the MANDATORY parameters...

What you need is the Informix Dynamic Server JDBC Driver, version 1.4 JAR file, ifxjdbc.jar.
This driver is shipped with the Informix Dynamic Server software. I am not sure you can download it freely.

Migrating from MySQL to Oracle 11g

can u tell me the steps to migrating database from MySQL to Oracle using SQL Developer?
I have installed Oracle 11g(11.1.0.6.0) in server and SQl Developer in my local system.
I connected to MySQL and Oracle in SQL Developer and tried to MIgrate everything in MySQL to Oracle using Quick Migrate option.
it took one and half day but didn't work at last...
is there any pre tasks that i need to do before migrating to oracle from MySQL?
and also when i export the MySQL data to Oracle using SQL Developer,it is giving data type mismatch errors like (date, boolean etc...).
please give a reply what i need to do and any refferences also very much appreciated.

I followed the steps mentioned above.
When I right click my MySQL server db Connection and click "Capture MySQL server", it just shows a dialog with "Close" enabled.
after clicking the close button, it gives following error messages.
oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.PersistableObject.doInsert(PersistableObject.java:238)
the same error is coming no of times.
Kindly help me in this regard.

That's the classic behaviour after using Migration Assistant and that's normal.

I hope someone can help me. It took hours on end to successfully migrate my photos and documents from my Windows PC to my new MacBook. (I'm a professional photographer)
When The Migration Assistant was completed, I closed the window and went to my documents and... cannot find ANY of the files that I migrated over? The instructions said something along the lines of I'd find all of my files and documents where I'd expect to... um... I can't find ANY!

How did you do your migration? Did you follow Apple support article and check help menu for tips?
Note: This process will create a new user account on your Mac to contain the Windows PC information that is migrated over. It will not merge the information with an existing user account on the Mac.

Before you did so, did you use Windows Easy Transfer? do you have your files on external or on a drive you can connect?
The best utility driver to mount PC NTFS drivers comes from Paragon-Software.
Apple only has read only support and more limited as well.

I doubt they will. But then I'm not sure as I used a migration program once about 18 years ago and totally FUBARed the system I had at that time and I've never used one again.
For me the reason to have a new system is to start fresh. Installing only program that I now use and manually copying data over from the older system.
Not sure your older version of Outlook, and the outlook mail boxes, are compatible with Office/Outlook for Mac 2011.
A better place to ask this question would be on the MS Office for Mac forums.

Just connect the drive to your Mac. The Mac can read most Windows formats (it cannot WRITE Windows New Technology File System (NTFS) formatted drives.
