Migrating from 10.7C to 11i

Can anybody tell me how to migrate from 10.7C which is on SEQUENT DYNIX/ptx to 11i on IBM AIX. After migration, DATA_TOP should be on DYNIX/ptx and APPL_TOP is on AIX.
As 11i is not certified on DYNIX/ptx (only database tier is certified), I would like to know who has done the above configuration...?

This is not a simple question and you really need to talk to both ex-sequent apps people and also other customers. Have a read of the white paper on heterogenous installs although it barely scraps the surface. Basically your middle tier will be extended to run the concurrent managers as well with only the database on the Sequent box. In simplistic terms you will do the whole install onto your middle tier and then export the database to your DB tier and change the configuration files to point to it. This is however a VERY general overview

Cash Management after migration from 10.7 to 11i

Hi All,
We migrated from 10.7 to 11.5.5.
In 10.7 we used to clear Payments using AP. We are not using accounting for clearing.
The status of the Payment after clearing will be 'Cleared But Unaccounted'.
In 11i, we setup the Cash Management. We are planning to use 'Reconciliation'.
Now, in 11i, I don't want the old data to be shown as 'Available for Reconciliation',
since, they are already cleared in 10.7.
Can any one suggest me on this.
In the same way, the old JVs in GL also should not appear as Available
for reconciliation.
Appreciate your help in this.

Problems with data migration from E-Business Suite 11i to OID.

Hi everyone i'm trying to migrate data between Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and Oracle Internet Directory.
I'm following the guidelines from the document: Integrating Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i with Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle Single Sign On.
I have created a intermediate LDIF file that will converted to final LDIF file by ldifmigrator utility. But an error occurs when I try to disable a certain profile in the phase of converting the Intermediate LDIF file to final LDIF file. I am running the oidprovtool as cn=orcladmin and the syntax is as follows:
oidprovtool operation=disable \
ldap_host=portal10g.skyrr.is \
ldap_port=3060 \
ldap_user_dn=cn=oracleadm \
ldap_user_password=mypasswd \

The command returns:
ERROR: Invalid directory credentials. Please check ldap_user_dn and ldap_user_password parameters.
I'm able to bind whith ldapbind and the syntax is as follows:

-D cn=orcladmin
-w ******
Can anyone help my to resolve the "Invalid directory credentials" error so that I can continue my Applications 11i migration.
I must admit that i'm new to Oracle Internet Directory and all advices and pointers are highly appreciated.

As Scott says, the fact that you're using HTTPS rather than HTTP is pretty much transparent to the mod_plsql handler (well in the respect that you don't really need to do anything 'special' in your application I mean).

i'm currently using Forms 6i having abt 150 forms nad 2oo reports, now i want to migrate all my forms and reports to oracle 10g/11i.

Are you currently deployed on the web or as c/s. Generally speaking for upgrading Forms its a case of open in the builder, regenerate and run. For c/s to web there may be some extra steps to do but generally speaking most Forms will run out of the box.

Data Migration from 11i to R12 Global - Open POs,lines, receipts & on hand upload, Is it possible to do the onhand qty upload with over riding of all receipts which uploaded against Open PO lines?

We are in a phase of data migration from 11i to R12
I was discussed with client & they wants extraction of all open POs which was generated after 01 Jan 2014 to till date in 11i.
Condition for open POs is PO qty-received qty=>0
critical Example for open PO is :PO no: 10 has 4 lines, 3lines full qty has been received & for 1 line partial qty(say 50 out of 100) received.
in this case he wants in R12 uploading as PO no:10 should entered as open PO with all 4lines & 3 lines complete receipt should be done, for 4th line partial qty i.e 50 should be received.
the question is if we upload on hand qty first, then open POs & receipts, it will increase the onhand qty in new system(mismatch of on hand qty's 11i to R12)
Is it possible to do the onhand qty upload with over riding of all receipts which uploaded against Open PO lines.
Or Please advice best solution.

Hi,
is there someone who is using OFSA 11i (Performance Analyzer and Transfer Pricing) and can tell me if there are any efforts to take for upgrading from 4.5 to 11i? I mean do I need to migrate all or some of the existing IDs to the new version or do they just work as the database architecture and logic are the same?
Are there any other impacts an upgrage from 4.5 to 11i could cause?

Yes - we are in final testing of the Transfer Pricing and meta layer (including rates, lookups and leaf definitions etc.). We have deferred allocations to Release 6 in Q1-07 as the freeform nature of this area means that we have to be a bit more defensive in coding around that.
The object of the project at this point is to have a repeatable process so users can migrate - reconcile - review - fix and re-migrate to allow complete and thorough testing of the upgrade prior to go-live in 11i.
For RM and BP users we are also bundling data model integration to allow those users to continue with Risk Manager and BP along side PFT and FTP 11i. This functionality is slated for R6 also and includes the ability to batch 11i and 4.5 processes synchronously.
Later in 2007 we will begin rolling in some of the other Oracle R12 and Fusion products.

We are planning to migrate from our current platform to new platform.
Current Platform : windows 2003,oracle 10g , ecc6.0
Target : Windows 2008 R2 , oracle 11g , ecc6.0
The process we are going to follow is system copy (Import/Export)
what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
What about the kernel and Export ?
Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.

Oracle 11i application database migration from single Aix instance to oracle Linux cluster RAC.
What is the easy way to migrate?

Migrating to a single instance will be the simplest. The migration itself will not be much different between the two because you're migrating from one platform to another. The options you have available are, the traditional IMP/EXP, datapump, and RMAN to migrate to either a standalone or RAC environment. The difficulty will be in creating a RAC environment and a little a few extra steps in the RMAN restore. Working with RAC will make things harder, but the actual migration is similar. The steps to IMP/EXP, whether it's traditional or Datapump will be no different. However, standing up a RAC database will be.

Pur. Req. Import from 10.7 tp 11i

I want to import purchase requisitions from 10.7 to 11i as the client is moving from 10.7 to 11i.My question is here during import what value I should set to Multiple Distributions field (MULTI_DISTRIBUTIONS) in the Requisition Import program. Since I am porting from 10.7 can I set it as No.And also since the data is from 10.7 I have to use the PO_REQUISITIONS_INTERFACE_ALL table or the PO_REQ_DIST_INTERFACE_ALL table.
If any body can through some light on this or send me some document on this issues, it will be a great help as I am now to Order Mangement.

I will first give a very high level answer and if you need more detail - just ask away.
First Need to lay down upgrade environment with rapid install - this would include new $APPL_TOP, $806_ORACLE_HOME,$8174_ORACLE_HOME,$IAS_ORACLE_HOME and $COMMON_TOP. This would be in the linux side. Remember rapid install itself has patches and there is a metalink note on the pre-upgrade patches for the apptlop during the upgrade note 112659.1.
Search metalink new patch search for rapid install and find those patches - very important for linux - so of the rapid install versions have issues, the last patch set fixed our problems.
Once this is prepared (upgrade not started) then I used imp/exp to migrate the database and I reorg'd the database at the same time for this - Metalink document 204015.1 was a good source for this. Verses the sysadmin documentation. Then once the database is imported, then begin the upgrade process - we also created a 10.7 on solaris pre-upgrade clone, that is we cloned production to a temporary 10.7 environment, did the pre-upgrade steps up until the database migration, then did the imp/exp , then did the upgrade -
Hope that makes sense, there could be other ways and even different twists with the steps we did. I hope it makes sense, I am not that good in emails and notes, The reason we did the pre-upgrade steps on a clone was so that the current production could serve as a back up in case of any un-anticipated problems happened during the upgrade and as well for the testing process that you go through.

I have an immediate requirement to migrate huge essbase applications from essbase 7.5.1 to system 9.
as per my knowledge, i believe that we can migrate from 7.5.1 --->9.2.0.2--->9.3.1 or EPM 11i.
Anybody who have worked on the same please confirm.
Or if there is any ohter way to do it, please let me know.

Step 1- updated the manifest --- Completed
Step 2- copy appl_top and Common_top -- Completed

Step 4- Install iAS Oracle Home -- Completed.
Step 5- Apply the Oracle interoperability patches for Red Hat Enterprise Linux -- Ignored

DB migration from AIX to Linux

Dear Experts,
We are planning to migrate our existing 10g database of 11.5.10.2 from AIX to Linux. Can anyone share their experiences? Some docs/URLS will be helpful. One of my friends told that it takes more than 36 hours to complete the database migration. Is it really true? The current database size is approx. 100GB.
After the migration does, apps function as usual?

You can use export/import or transportable tablespaces to migrate the database.

How long the task would take? Depends on the hardware resources you have. The best practice is to try this on a test instance first.
The application should work as expected once the task is completed.

Creation of domain issues - migration from weblogic 10.3.0 to 10.3.5 versio

i would like to kindly ask for a help with following issue:
Basically we are migrating from the 10.3.0 to the 10.3.5 version. We are building the domain using the template in "silent mode". And when i try to create the domain with new weblogic 10.3.5 im getting some errors.
The command to run the creation of the domain is following:
${WL_HOME}/common/bin/config.sh -mode=silent -silent_script=${SILENT_SCRIPT} -log=${WLLOGFILE} >> ${LOGFILE} 2>&1
returnCode=$?
SILENT_SCRIPT contains following commands:
read template from "/local/wg372/BM/appl/config/NEW_DOMAIN_CONFIGURED.jar";
write domain to "/local/wg372/BM/appl/BmDomain";
set OverwriteDomain "true";
close template;
When i setup new env(solaris) with weblogic 10.3.5 im getting following error when the silent_script command (*write domain to "/local/wg372/BM/appl/BmDomain";*) is executed:

thanks for the reply but im not sure if we are talking about the same thing. What i need is to upgrade the weblogic "DOMAIN" not the weblogic installation itself.
Anyway,
after some googling and testing im again stucked with another issue:
1. First i have created the old doman (10.3.0)
2. Then i have tested the domain with the new weblogic version 10.3.5 - as it should be (and is) compatible within those 2 versions
---> worked fine
3. Then via offline WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) i have managed to create new template with command writeTemplate(nameOfTemplate.jar)
4. But when i try to create the new domain with the new template via WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) im again stucked (im able to read the template in wlst but not able to writeDomain ) - error:

I tried to have a look around for the "The application location must have write permission." problem but again with no luck.
Furthemore when i try to do the same with old domain template, with old version of WLST (of weblogic 10.3.0), i have no problems with creating of the domain.
Any ideas?
