Migrating from a Smartdrive IDE box

Hello,
I've looked for answers to what may seem to the knowledgeable to be a dumb question but to no avail, so here goes.
I have now successfully removed the harddrive from my dead iBaby and put it in an enclosure (thanks for the help with that) and plucked up the courage this evening to start Migration Assistant and connect the two, but hit a snag when it came to restarting my 'old Mac' while holding down T due to the fact she is now encased in a little box with no screen or keyboard.
I don't know whether it's supposed to show up on my desktop but it didn't and it's fairly hard to press down T on a computer which is simply a box and a firewire cable.
I've got an inkling what the answer is gonna be, but would love to hear it from an expert.
Charley

Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately here (3. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.) is where I am stuck because I don't know how to do that.

  • Migrating from server 2003R2 to 2008R2 User cannot change password box unchecks after being checked.

After Migrating the domain controller from server 2003 R2 to 2008 R2 the check box for users cannot change password wont stay checked. This is happening to ALL users and no they are not a member of any Protected Groups. I have searched for a solution
for months but cant not find.
And now after migrating the exchange 2003 to 2010 I have to keep applying the inherited permissions every hour until a user finally makes an active sync.
Now having more AD issues, cant remove users from Exchange 2010...And again have to go to the DC and applying the inherited permissions, then I can remove the user.
I really need help with this...

    Hi,
Did you use the migration tools to do the user migration?
Permissions on a user that is migrated from an Active Directory domain are reset to default values during migration.
I think this is by design:

  • Migrating from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2012R2 Standard with 365

Im looking to move SBS 2011 to Server 2012R2 standard and with a 365 migration as well.
    Im thinking
    BPA for AD (health check)
Add the Server2012R2 as a DC
    Ensure replication
    Move DHCP
    Change DNS
Now this is where I get lost, now Im lost to use either dirsync or add essentials service, I have gone for standard and 30 cals with the option  as I have 28 users and the essentials service would make everything quite nice for remote access and backups
etc....  however I don't know whether to just use dirsync with password replication instead ?
Currently Im aiming towards getting the dc up and running then enabling essentials on the dc but I dont know how it will effect SBS and having essentials on the same network and sync'ing people to the cloud ? So Should I use DirSync on a different server
instead to sync up to azure ?
Finally with 365 I have only ever done a migration involving an export of pst's from an exchange box and then on a new domain with new pc's and reimport the pst's on the user accounts in outlook.
However I have read when migrating to 365 was using exchange 2010 there was a application
to move everything across however you needed an ssl cert iirc ? so I dont know how it works now since the nice new dashboard upgrade (assuming the tool has been updated like dirsync)
along with the above how does AD now know where exahcnge if you use the migration app with an ssl cert and is it a case of still running the 365 config tool to configure each user to look at their mail in the
cloud ? Also is it a good idea to enable essentials from the start of the 2012r2 dc for replication top 365 or to use dirsync ?
then finally when replications is all good start transferring the FSMO roles over to the new DC and demote and remove the SBS server
I have seen (below) but i dont think it covers this scenario and I cant be the only person in this situation =\ ?

I’m a little confused with the description. Did you mean that set up DC (Windows Server 2012 Standard) and
then install the Windows Server Essentials Experience role? If so, when you migrate, please refer to the article:
Migrate from Previous Versions to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials or Windows Server Essentials Experience

  • Trouble migrating from Snow Leopard to Lion

I've been using a MacBookPro5.2 that's running OS 10.6.8.  I bought a new MacBookPro, and installed Lion on it.  Now I'm trying to migrate my whole electronic life over to the new computer, and I've been having big problems.  I think I may have fixed those problems, but I'm not sure if it's really safe to start using the new computer the way it is.  Can anyone tell me if I'm doing this correctly?  I hope this may help other people having similar problems.
Here's what I've done so far:
    1.  I ran Software Update on the old mac, to make sure that I had the latest version of 10.6.8.  The only account that exists on the old computer is called "administrator."  The "short name" for that account was my initials, which we'll say are "abc".
    2.  I installed Lion on the new computer (it had come with Snow Leopard originally), started up, and created an account called "administrator," with short name "administrator."  Of note, the new computer was then running 10.7.0, and I hadn't updated to 10.7.1 before attempting the migration.
    3.  I connected both computers to my router, and ran Migration Assistant, checking all of the checkboxes, in order to transfer everything (accounts, applications, settings, and other files and folders).  Migration Assistant noticed that the name of the only account on the old computer was the same as the name of the only account on the new computer.  So I said to rename the account that was being transferred to "admin," with short name "admin."
    4.  On the old computer, I keep almost all of my documents in directories directly under the root directory, not under /Users/abc.  After ten or so hours of migrating, it appeared that pretty much all of those files, including Applications, had all come over to the new computer.  There was also a new account on the new computer, called "admin," as it should be.  However, the "admin" account wasn't set up properly.  I was able to log in as admin, using the old password that I used on my old computer, but admin appeared to have no home directory.  So, for example, my desktop picture and all of the stuff on that was supposed to be on my desktop weren't there, and I couldn't access my iTunes library.  On the dock, where I should have seen icons for "Documents" and "Downloads," I had only big question marks.
    5.  I deleted the "admin" account, started up from the recovery disk, and re-installed Lion from scratch.  Then I ran Migration Assistant, doing it the same way, except that this time I only checked the "accounts" and "settings" boxes.  The transfer was much faster this time, but everything ended up the same.  This didn't fix my problem.
    6.  I logged out of the new computer, and logged in again as my original account "administrator."  Then I saw that there was in fact a /Users/admin home directory, but it was owned by the wrong account, i.e. administrator.  So I did this:
    sudo chown -R admin /Users/admin
Things then looked a lot better.  I logged in as admin, and now my desktop items are there, my iTunes library is accessible, etc.  I checked, and verified that admin is listed as having administrator privileges.  So I guess my next step would be to delete the original "administrator" account, so that there's only one account left.  Is it safe for me to delete the original administrator account that I set up?  I'm afraid to do that, because I'm not sure that everything is really in order.  For example:
    1.  When logged in as admin, the Macintosh HD icon never appears on my desktop, even if I check the appropriate box under Finder -> Preferences.  It does appear properly if I'm logged in as administrator.
    2.  Dropbox keeps looking for a /Users/abc/Dropbox directory, and breaks because it can't find that directory.  I don't really care about that, because I can just uninstall and reinstall Dropbox.  But I don't want to run into other problems in the future because other applications are looking for /Users/abc.
    3.  In various places, Lion keeps referring to my new computer as "administrator's-MacBookPro," or something like that.  That makes me worry that I'll have some problems if I delete name of the account that supposedly owns the computer.
So, is it safe for me to proceed with deleting the original account?  I haven't really used the new computer yet, so I'd be happy to wipe the whole hard disk clean and start the migration process over from scratch, if that will help to make everything more stable going forward.  And if someone can tell me how to do that!
I apologize for the long post.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Whew!  I finally got my new machine working with all my old stuff on it, thanks to baltwo's tip to try reinstalling the OS from scratch, which pointed me in the right direction.  The key additional points were (1) to make sure to  erase the hard drive first, and (2) do the transfer to Lion, rather than Snow Leopard, because at least in my case, SL's Setup Manager was buggy and always hung forever right when it was about to start transferring.  Also for some reason the transfer was much faster in Lion.
This was a very ugly experience for me.  There were lots of times when my computers crashed, hung, wouldn't wake up, and otherwise made me feel like I was at work, trying to use  Windows boxes.  For the benefit of any other people who may stumble upon this thread, here are a set of steps that you can follow if you have a mac that is new (or new to you) and you would like to have it running Lion, and having all of the stuff from your old Mac on it, but with no other user's stuff on it.  In the simple case where your new Mac comes preinstalled with Lion and you're the first human ever to turn it on, then ignore all of this, and just turn it on and follow the onscreen instructions.  However, I think you should follow the following steps if (A) the new Mac already has on it an account or account that you want to wipe out, and/or (B) the new Mac is running Snow Leopard, and you want to upgrade it to Lion before migrating your stuff over (which I think is a good idea -- as I said, my computer kept crashing every time I tried to migrate from SL to SL, and besides, maybe a "clean install" of Lion is somehow better).
[If your new Mac is already running Lion, skip to step 4.  If your new mac is running SL, start here.]
    1.  On the new mac (which is running SL), if you're turning it on for the first time, create a temporary administrator account that you're going to wipe out shortly.  If there's already an administrator account on the new computer, log in as that administrator.
    2.  As the administrator, run Software Update, and keep running it repeatedly and restarting if necessary, until Software Update no longer finds any updates to install.
    3.  Upgrade the new Mac to Lion.  You'll probably do this via the App Store.  After Lion has downloaded and installed, your computer will restart.
    4.  Log in into the new Mac, which is running Lion, as your administrator account.  Same password as before.
5   Run Software Update, and keep running it repeatedly and restarting if necessary, until Software Update no longer finds any updates to install.  I'm not sure this step is really necessary, but I wanted to be sure that the new Mac was running the very latest version of Lion, since there seemed to be some problems with Lion's Setup/Migration assistant.
    6.  You may not have realized this, but Lion created a locked partition on your hard drive that contains a complete backup copy of itself, plus various utilities, including the disk utility.  Boot your new mac from that recovery partition by starting it up (or restarting it), and holding down "command-R" while it's restarting.  You'll be presented with two choices, asking whether you want to boot from the main hard disk partition, or the recovery partition.  Choose the recovery partition.
    7.  Having started up from the recovery partition, you now need to run disk utility.  If I recall correctly, you do this by pulling down the "Utilities" menu from the top of the screen, and choosing Disk Utility.
    8.  In Disk Utility, choose "erase," and erase the main partition of your hard drive, which I think will be called "Untitled" or maybe "Macintosh HD."  Be sure to highlight "Untitled" or "Macintosh HD" before you go ahead and erase, and don't erase your recovery partition by accident.
    9.  Now you have a pristine, factory-fresh Mac, running the latest version of Lion, with no user accounts on it.  Just go ahead and turn it on, enjoy the music and graphics, and then follow the onscreen instructions for transferring the data over from your old Mac.

  • Is there a way to identify which files haven't been migrated from a backup?

I've just upgraded my girlfriends 13" mbp from Leopard to Snow Leopard. It was behaving a little strangely and being sluggish so I erased everything before the upgrade. I've used Migration Assistant to transfer most files from a Time Machine backup but was a bit unsure about transferring everything blindly as I'm a little worried about what was causing the problems before the upgrade. The only items I didn't select in Migration Assistant were the 'All other files and folders' in the 'Users' drop box, and the 'All other files and folders on Macintosh HD'. I left these as I wanted to investigate what exactly these files were but now I have no clue how to go about this. Is there a quick way to highlight which files were present in the backup before the upgrade that aren't there now? Are any of these files likely to be hugely important?
Also, because I backed up again after the upgrade, Migration Assistant automatically selects the last backup to migrate from instead of the one that has the missing files. Is there a way to select which backup file to use from my external drive?
    Thanks

It's usually not a good idea to upgrade a computer that's having problems. They may get fixed, but more often they'll get worse.
'All other files and folders on Macintosh HD'.
Those are other files, not in any user home folders, besides system files. On most installations, they're just a few Help files, but if you've installed things or created files at the top level of a drive, they weren't migrated.
Also, because I backed up again after the upgrade, Migration Assistant automatically selects the last backup to migrate from instead of the one that has the missing files. Is there a way to select which backup file to use from my external drive?
No, unfortunately. You can only do that with a full system restore.
If you used +Setup Assistant+ when the Mac first started up, the user accounts now on the Mac are the same ones, and you can use the "Star Wars" display to restore selected items from older backups. But you can't restore an entire home folder, or the default folders in the user's home folder (Desktop, Documents, etc.); you have to select the contents of those folders instead. See #15 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
If you used the +Migration Assistant+ app, however, the user accounts may not be recognized as being the same ones, so may not have permission to see and restore from the backups.
It's a pain, but your best bet may be to start over: do a full system restore of the last Leopard backup, per #14 in the FAQ. Then try to address the "strangely and being sluggish" issue. Once that's either fixed or you determine it isn't a big problem, just install Snow Leopard over Leopard without erasing.

  • Migration from PE 8 (Windows) to PE 11 - What steps?? (MAC)

I am planning to migrate from PE 8 (Windows) to PE 11 (Mac). I will continue to use the PE catalog in PE 11 to organize my library of 16,000+ photos.  Although I had considered moving to Aperture for my Digital Asset Manager (in order to more seamlessly work in an Apple environment), I have instead decided to stay with PE since I am familiar with it and happy with its functionality.
I am hoping that this forum can help me: I need to know what steps to follow to perform this migration.  (I am a non-technical user.  All I know thus far is  that I need buy a boxed version or PE11 -  NOT download it from the Apple app site - in order to get the cataloging function.)  I would like the process to enable me to port both my photos AND my hierarchical keyword tagging structure.
(Some background on why I am asking this question proactively: I was severely burned in a previous upgrade from PE 5 to PE 8 (Windows XP to  Windows 7) where ALL of my tagging got lost in the move. This, despite hours of work with the Adobe support team who had me write the keywords into metadata and re-backup, re-port, etc, etc.  It was a nightmare of many hours spent.  All unsuccessful.  I ended up manually re-tagging each of my photos.  Needless to say, I do not want to go through that again,)
Thanks in advance for your help.  Amy

Elements Downloader doesn't auto run on a mac. It's set up so that you always have to launch it from organizer.
If you know you won't use iphoto, then it's a good idea to go to the iphoto preferences>General>When a camera is connected, and choose No Application, in which case the card will mount like a drive on your desktop and you can drag the photos from it or launch PSE Downloader, or choose Image Capture, in which case apple's own OS X downloader/scanner utility launches and you can use that, then File>Get Photos>From Files and Folders to bring them into Organizer.
For moving the catalog, the most important thing is to be sure the catalog is okay in windows first, so do go to manage catalogs>repair, and then optimize before backing up. The transfer is very easy when it works.

    Hi All,

1.Which version we have to migrate from 8.5 ? Is it 11.1.2.2 or earlier versions?
    2. How to download versions earlier 11.1.2.2(Ex:11.1.1.3)?
3.Our workspace has 300 user accesibililty,is it good to install workspace, shared services in same server or do we have to install in separate servers?
4.Why migration utility has been removed in 11.1.2.2 ?

1.Which version we have to migrate from 8.5 ? Is it 11.1.2.2 or earlier versions?
Migrate to 11.1.2.1 and then upgrade to 11.1.2.2 (11.1.2.1 has a migration utility that can be used)
    Q. Migration Utility avaliable in 11.1.2.1 is just migrate Brio reports to OBIEE right, but not to Workspace 11.1.2.1.
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong....
No migration utility is only to migrate brio to workspace...For moving to OBIEE there is a separate tool called Workbench utility.
    2. How to download versions earlier 11.1.2.2(Ex:11.1.1.3)?
Raise a non tech support ticket to get older versions,if not available in edelivery.
    Q. We are doing a trail migration and we don't have a Licensed Key or User Number etc with Oracle.
Is there any other way to download 11.1.1.3 for "Total Free"??
No idea..someone else might have a reply.
3.Our workspace has 300 user accesibililty,is it good to install workspace, shared services in same server or do we have to install in separate servers?
Depends,if you are more of a reports user, then you can have workspace/shared services in one box and Reporting Analysis in another
    Q. Please discribe this briefly as answer is not clear. As per my understanding "Workspace" "Reporting Analysis" are same, services for this will run in same machine.
if we install workspace/Shared service in one box and Reporting Analysis in another box,how the communication will happen between this systems?
No.Both RA and workspace (Workspace is now a part of Foundation) are different in 11.1.2.x versions.
4.Why migration utility has been removed in 11.1.2.2 ?
Q.I hope Migration Utility is avalible until 11.1.1.4.If we have to migrate from old Brio version (6,8),then first we need to migrate to 11.1.1.3 and then to 11.1.2.2.
    Hyperion Performace Suite 8.5 -->(Using Migration Utility 11.1.1.4) EPM workspace 11.1.1.3 or .4 --> EPM workspace 11.1.2.2(Latest)..
Yes you can go that way or 8.5 --- 11.1.2.1 (migration utility)----11.1.2.2
    Thanks

  • PKI migration from 2003 to greenfield 2008 R2 plan-of-approach

    Hi,
I've done a lot of reading here already but I'm on a dead end. Here's my scenario:
I have 1 Stand-alone root CA plus 2 Enterprise issuing CA's, all running Windows Server 2003. I'm trying to move all servers to a new OS platform: Server 2008 R2. The way I'm seeing this is I have to migrate the Root CA first, then all issuing CA's, so my
    first question is:
    1. Is this correct?
    I followed this procedure:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc742388(v=ws.10).aspx. At "To set up a CA on a computer running Windows Server 2008" I specified the backup I made earlier and specified the private key from the 2003 stand-alone root CA. After
the wizard finishes, I am able to succesfully start the CA on the 2008 server. Next chapter is "Restoring the database and configuration on the target computer". It prompts to shut down the CA service, which I allow, it restores the DB (which
I point to as part of the wizard), when it finishes restoring, it prompts to start the CA service again. This is where the headache starts; it throws an ADCS error "0xc8000220 (ESE: -544)" and it fails to start.
The application log on the target server throws the following errors (in chronological order) :
[source: ESENT - EventID: 916] certsrv.exe attempted to attach database 'C:\windows\system32\certlog\<CANAME> but it is a database restored from a backup set on which hard recovery was not started or did not complete successfully'
[source: CertificationAuthority - EventID: 17] "Active Directory Certificate Services did not start: Unable to initialize the database connection for <CANAME>. Error: 0xc8000220 (ESE: -544).
I have no idea as to what this means so my next Obvious question would be:
    2. Please advice in my next step?
    Cheers!

    Kurt,
    Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I'm still not able to migrate an out-of-the-box stand-alone root CA 2003 to a 2008 server. Using the same or another host name. I'm at a dead end. One thing I noticed is:
When running esentutl /g on the running CA DB (in a lab) things are ok. Running it on the back-upped version of the db, it says it's corrupted. esentutl /r does NOT repair it. esentutl /p does, and afterwards it's verifiable using esentutl /g but it's still
not possible to bring it online. I've followed
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc742388(v=ws.10).aspx to the letter and I've read other sites as a comparison (not doubting, merely looking for success stories based on this procedure) and it seems like I'm the only one in the world that's unable
to perform a successful restore! :( Anywhere I can dig deeper?
This error is my nemesis: [ESENT: 412] certsrv.exe (2824) Restore0001: Unable to read the header of logfile C:\Windows\system32\CertLog\edb00003.log. Error -546.
    Cheers!

  • Migrating from Solaris 8 to Solaris 9

    Hi,
We are migrating our application from Solaris8 to Solaris9 boxes. Ours is a high performance multi threaded server application. When we first migrated we faced issues with "malloc" so we linked libmtmalloc.so instead of standard malloc library. Now the application crashes and generate core while "free()" call.

  • Migrating from Palm - roadmap?

Can anyone point me to a roadmap for migrating from Palm to iPhone, in this forum or on the web? It would be really useful as a sticky or FAQ IMHO.
Of course I can do the easy bit of calendar and contacts (did it already for my wife when she transferred), but now that I have an iPhone too I need to deal with the to dos and notes, which in my case are a considerable amount of data - my wife had none to speak of so it wasn't an issue.
The todos in Mail seem to work kind of OK, but I really don't like the Notes being in the inbox. And I have no idea how to get them from the Palm into Mail, even I wanted to.
What other software is available to handle Todos and Notes on the iPhone/Mac OS X?
    TIA
    Nic

Exporting Palm Calendar (Date Book): you should have in the Export dialog box the option of changing the export format from "Palm Desktop" to "vCal".
vCal (.vcs) files will import into iCal. You can also bring them into Entourage (not through the Import dialog box, but by dragging the .vcs file onto the Entourage icon in the dock).
You will almost certainly lose category information, if you were using any.
Exporting Palm Addresses: choose the vCard format, which Apple's Address Book will recognise (ditto Entourage if you take that option). But I see you've succeeded with that part.
Exporting Tasks: this gets tricky as Apple doesn't have a stand alone tasks or to do app and the to do function in iCal is a bit underwhelming. You'll be able to export Palm Tasks in "Tab & Return" format, which means you could open them in a word processing or spreadsheet program. I doubt you'd be able to get them into iCal with any ease. You may have better luck importing tasks into Entourage, which does have a proper Tasks function, but that's not something I've tried to do.
Exporting Notes/Memo: as with Tasks, your option is using the "Tab & Return" format. You may need a 3rd-party notes program if you don't want to use Entourage Notes.

  • Migrating From BizTalk 2009 To Biztalk server 2013

    Hi All,
My current solution is on BizTalk 2009 and my client is thinking of migrating to BizTalk 2013 . Please suggest me is it a good idea to migrate to BizTalk 2013.
Please provide me a difference between 2009 to 2013
Difference between 2009 to 2013 and main features.
    Thanks and Regards
    Dhanavel S

    Hi Dhanavel,
Why don’t you think about migrating to BizTalk 2013 R2 which is available now. Anyway
First and foremost thing, BizTalk Server 2009’s mainstream support from Microsoft has ended on 08-July-2014. After mainstream support, customer will get extended support until
09-July-2019. So you're are in extended support phase now. Find out the following blogpost where you will know more about what you can get and what you’re going to miss from Microsoft support for BizTalk Server 2009. And also about what you have to do next.
Why you have to migrate to the latest version.
BizTalk Server 2009 mainstream support ends. What to do next?
Apart from losing the benefits of mainstream support against the extended support and apart from getting the benefits of latest offering/features of the newer version of the
product, BizTalk server 2009 is closely dependent on its underlying platforms like Windows Server 2008 (or Window server 2003/Windows XP-SP3/Windows Visa SP1), SQL Server 2008 (or SQL Server 2005 SP2) and Visual Studio 2008. So its high time to migrate.
BizTalk Server 2009 mainstream support ends. What to do next?
Some of the benefits of migrating from BizTalk 2009 to BizTalk 2013.
    Platform upgrades:
BizTalk 2013 uses following, so when you upgrade from BizTalk 2009 to 2013, you will get the benefits by upgrading your platforms.
Windows Server 2012 (BizTalk 2009 uses Windows Server 2009)
    Visual Studio 2012(BizTalk 2009 uses Visual Studio2008)
.NET Framework 4.5 (BizTalk 2009 uses .NET 3.5)
    SQL Server 2012(BizTalk 2009 uses SQL 2008)
Virtualization support for Hyper-V (this feature is available from BizTalk 2010 onwards)
Some of the other benefits include
    Better support to could
Azure Service Bus. And support for
BizTalk Server running on Azure IaaS
BizTalk Server 2013 Support for RESTful Services
    More support towards WCF-based adpaters.
Secure FTP with new FTPS Adapter and an improved FTP Adapter
    Out-of-box support to SFTP Adapter
Enhancements to the IBM Hosts Systems adapters
    Update to BizTalk mapper
Updated Trading Partner Management (TPM) Capabilities.
Updates to industry schemas like HIPPA, HL7, SWIFT and SWIFTNet
Seamless ability to leverage BizTalk capabilities from SharePoint 2010 Business Connectivity Service to Line-of-Business systems
BizTalk Server setting dashboard for setting to
configuring the key performance, throttling, and tracking settings of your entire BizTalk group while offering fine grained control all the way down to the Host
    Instance level.
ESB toolkit part of BizTalk installation.

  • Creation of domain issues - migration from weblogic 10.3.0 to 10.3.5 versio

    Hello,
i would like to kindly ask for a help with following issue:
Basically we are migrating from the 10.3.0 to the 10.3.5 version. We are building the domain using the template in "silent mode". And when i try to create the domain with new weblogic 10.3.5 im getting some errors.
The command to run the creation of the domain is following:
    ${WL_HOME}/common/bin/config.sh -mode=silent -silent_script=${SILENT_SCRIPT} -log=${WLLOGFILE} >> ${LOGFILE} 2>&1
    returnCode=$?
    SILENT_SCRIPT contains following commands:
    read template from "/local/wg372/BM/appl/config/NEW_DOMAIN_CONFIGURED.jar";
    write domain to "/local/wg372/BM/appl/BmDomain";
    set OverwriteDomain "true";
    close template;
When i setup new env(solaris) with weblogic 10.3.5 im getting following error when the silent_script command (*write domain to "/local/wg372/BM/appl/BmDomain";*) is executed:

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
thanks for the reply but im not sure if we are talking about the same thing. What i need is to upgrade the weblogic "DOMAIN" not the weblogic installation itself.
    Anyway,
after some googling and testing im again stucked with another issue:
    1. First i have created the old doman (10.3.0)
    2. Then i have tested the domain with the new weblogic version 10.3.5 - as it should be (and is) compatible within those 2 versions
    ---> worked fine
    3. Then via offline WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) i have managed to create new template with command writeTemplate(nameOfTemplate.jar)
    4. But when i try to create the new domain with the new template via WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) im again stucked (im able to read the template in wlst but not able to writeDomain ) - error:
    wls:/offline> readTemplate('/home/wg372/tmp/new_template.jar')
    wls:/offline/BmDomain>writeDomain('/home/wg372/tmp/new_domain')
Error: writeDomain() failed. Do dumpStack() to see details.

I tried to have a look around for the "The application location must have write permission." problem but again with no luck.
Furthemore when i try to do the same with old domain template, with old version of WLST (of weblogic 10.3.0), i have no problems with creating of the domain.
    Any ideas?
    Ill keep you updated :-)
