Migrating from Cisco 4402 to 5508 - AP Compatibility

We currently run six 4402 Wireless lan controllers - these are managed by a WCS server - soon to be replaced by Cisco Prime.
We run a mixture of LAP1242 and LAP1142 wireless access points.
I need to add more but have been told by my supplier that the both these AP's are now end of sale and cannot be purchased.
The replacement AP's are the 2600 series - but I have been told that these are not compatible with my existing 4402 controllers.
To make matters worse I was then advised that if I purchase the new 5580 controllers the older LAP1242 access points will not work with it and require replacing - this, for me, is a lot of access points.
What I need to know is:
What access points, if any, are currently available that are compatible with my 4402 controllers and a future 5508 installation?
I ssem to be in a situation now where I cannot buy any access points that will work with my 4402's but if I upgrade all my current 1242's will not funtion with the new 5508 controller!
Scott

  • Migration from WLC 4402 to 5508

    Hello Forum;
I'm trying to migrate from a WLC 4402 to a 5508. I've uploaded the config from the 4402 and then downloaded it to the 5508. I'm able to get to the GUI but my clients are unable to connect. I've tried pinging from the clients with no luck. The APs connect to the 5508. I noticed that the ap-manager interface is not available for the 5508.
    Has anyone had similar issues?
    Sean

Yes its expected, coz we do not have AP manager on the 5508 WLC.. Clients are unable to connect is the concern..
Whats the WLAN?? are they enabled?? if yes, then when the client tries to connect, then wats the Policy manager state they get stuck in?? can u please run the below debug and paste it here??

Looking forward to hear from you!!

  • Migrating from Cisco Unity Express to Cisco Unity Connection

    Hello,
We are going to migrate from Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6 to Cisco Unity Connection 9.1.2. Therefore, we need to migrate all mailboxes without data lost.
So, the questions are next: is it possible? Which tools we should use and what  steps we need to pass?
    Thanks,

Based on my experience of keeping the data (i.e. voicemails for users) it is really not worth it.
Because all these voicemails will add up the Mailbox Space and user will get unnecessary "mailbox full" warnings even though they may be deleted (it takes around 2 weeks to get rid of the deleted voicemails)
Hence, my recommendation would be to do a stare and compare for the most part and build all the Call Handlers etc, this will give you even better chance to get rid of all the unwanted stuff.

  • Migrating from Cisco Prime Unified Provisioning Manager 9.0 BE to Prime Collaboration 9.0 Provisioning

    Hi All,
Cisco BE 6000 9.X support both Cisco Prime Unified Provisioning Manager 9.0 BE and Prime Collaboration 9.0 Provisioning as its management tool. OVA for both applications are pre-loaded on server from factory starting end of March 2013.
For some customers that start with Cisco Prime Unified Provisioning Manager 9.0 BE, and want to migrate to Prime Collaboration 9.0 Provisioning for advanced features, they can follow the following guide for migration.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/net_mgmt/prime/unified_provisioning_manager/9.0BE/migration/guide/migrate_90be_pc90.html
For more collaterals for Cisco Prime Collaboration, please visit

Finally, the solution of the problem was:
1-stop the daemon manager “net stop crmdmgtd”
2- Delete the xml files available under(please take backup from them) :
    CSCOpx\objects\sir\work
    CSCOpx\objects\topo\work
3-Start the daemon manager  net start crmdmgtd  (wait for 20 minutes until all process are up )

  • ASA500: migrate from Cisco VPN Client to native Windows VPN connection

We have a need at this time for only one of our computers to allow 2 Windows users to connect to our network thru VPN (it's a work share situation, they will not both be logged on the same day). We happily use the old Cisco VPN client for everyone else. But the old client will not install twice on the same machine, nor is there the option to "install for any user".
Thinking to KISS and not invest at this point, trying to get Windows native VPN to work ?
What combination of settings will work in its properties->security tab to do the same IKE IPsec over UDP(NAT) and with group auth along with the individual's login?
... (so no reconfiguration is needed in the ASA?)
Or are one of the other "type of VPN" will need minimal change on the ASA ?

    Thank you.
    I found this: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa72/configuration/guide/conf_gd/l2tp_ips.html#wp1041306
Will this have any effect on the rest of the users?
Step 1 Specify IPSec to use transport mode rather than tunnel mode with the mode keyword of the crypto ipsec transform-set command:
    hostname(config)# crypto ipsec transform-set trans_name mode transport

  • Upgrading from 4402 to 5508

Does anyone know of, or have any instructions on performing an upgrade from a 4402 to 5508?

If ur planning for config copy from one to another.. then here is the IMPORTANT instructions..
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/wireless/controller/7.0MR1/configuration/guide/cg_managing_ctrlr.html#wp1063850
Do  not download a configuration file to your controller that was uploaded  from a different controller platform. For example, a Cisco 5500 Series  Controller does not support the configuration file from a Cisco 4400  Series or 2100 Series Controller.
Its not suported!! if something goes wrong then please dont blame Cisco telling crappy products!! we have the written doc

  • Migrating from Brocade 2800/ 3900 to Cisco MDS 9509

What is the best procedure from migrating from Brocade 2800/3900/12000 to Cisco MDS 9509 especially connected to HP-UX and AIX server.
Without any Downtime I should be able to migrate these servers.
    I thought about these options:
    1. Use vgexport and vgimport or exportvg and importvg (AIX) after connecting to Cisco MDS. But this requires complete downtime on the application.
    2. Take one path down or HBA down and switch the cable and vgextend the devices.
Please let me know if somebody has procedure.
I was successful in HP-UX server using the second options but I cant see all the LUNs. That might be array specific problem also.
If anybody has detailed procedure on migrating this scenario. please let me know.
We are using Persistent FCIDs on our MDS switches.
    Thanks in Advance

After connecting 1 cable from server HBA to Cisco S/w, why you are not able to see all LUNs, did you cross-check that...I mean HBA Configuration (max 256 LUNs) or Disk Array library driver to be installed on host side.if that can be sorted out, you can mirror the volumes across the disk arrays.are you using HDS Arrays? I don't know but what is vgextend command you are mentioning...
also did you take a reboot of server or is it online addition on new LUNs...
Also any how if you are not able to see all LUNs that is going to be an issue later as well for migration...pls cross-check that...

  • Migrating data from Cisco NCS 1.1.1.24 to Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Question

I am spinning up a new VM server for Prime to migrate from NCS. I have not been able to find the patch Cisco recommends to run before upgrading. My question is do I need to run this patch (ncs_patch-1.1.1.24-upgrade-12.tar.gz) if I am just gong to bring up a whole new machine and not upgrade the existing NCS? My plan is to do a back-up on the NCS and a restore from the new Prime.

Migrating from NCS 1.1.1.24 to Prime Infrastructure 1.3
To migrate to a new Prime Infrastructure 1.3 system, follow the process as described in the following two links below:

    Hi,
A  direct upgrade from a WCS release to Prime Infrastructure 1.2 is not  supported. You must first upgrade to an NCS 1.1 release, and then  upgrade to Prime Infrastructure 1.2.

  • Migrating from SIEMENS HIPATH 3000 to a CISCO VOIP Solution

We've got a SIEMENS HIPATH 3000 PBX system with 15 to 20 individual telephone lines coming in from the telecom operator into the FSO card of the PBX
We are planning to migrate to CISCO Call Manager and are also implementing an 3845 Router
I would like to know if there is an interface on the router into which these 20 RJ11 phone lines go or is there another option
How do I go about it ?

Thanks pk, I knew of the FXO Cards. However I do not think there is any FXO card that allows for 20 RJ11 individual phone lines
Because all the cards available at the link you sent me are all 2, 4 or max 8 ports
    VIC-2FXO 2 FXO
    VIC-2FXO-EU 2 FXO
    VIC-2FXO-M1 2 FXO
    VIC-2FXO-M2 2 FXO

    VIC-4FXO-M1 4 FXO
    VIC2-2FXO 2 FXO
    VIC2-4FXO 4 FXO

Do you have the product number of any FXO card that has 20 FXO ports for 20 RJ11 phone lines ?

  • Resources for migration from legacy Cisco VPN client to AnyConnect?

As the legacy client is now officially EOL'd, and it is having issues with Windows 7 - the need has presented itself to migrate to AnyConnect.
The complicating issue here is that many of the machines that need to be migrated connect remotely and never touch a corporate LAN - as such - I need to devise a means to remotely and seamlessly (as much as possible) migrate from old to new.  Sounds a bit like changing the wings on a flying plane, but I'm guessing others have had to face the same issue.  By procrastinating this migration - my hope is that your blood spilled will be mine saved?  (Just kidding. Sorta).
Any tips, input, suggestion, procedures, FAQs,  good luck wishes, etc. greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    JP

    Hi Andy
Anyconnect licensing is a little complicated, but 99% of the time you only need the "Essentials" AnyConnect license for your ASAs. This gives you everything that you have using the old Cisco VPN Client.
Essentials is licensed per ASA, and not per user like the other ASA AnyConnect licenses.
AnyConnect Premium gives you all that Essentials give you plus "clientless" VPN (Web portal type stuff).
Configuration wize - it's pretty simple and similar to how you configure the old VPN support. There's a wizard to assist you in configuring it if you like that kind of thing.

  • Migration from F5 to Cisco ACE

    Hi All,
I am preparing for a migration from F5 to ACE. Can someone help me with a technical approach that I should take to make this migration successful.
    Rishi

    Hi,
    What I would do:
Is it a kind of copy/paste migration?
    Is it layer2/layer3 design?
    - list all IP addresses for the ACE (physical for the vlan interfaces + aliases (VRRP like address))
    - list all VIP addresses + services (fe. http, dns, ftp...)
    - list all real servers that will be used, ordened per VIP (serverfarm)
    - list all probes per real server
    - list all specific exceptions (fe. stickiness, cookie insertion, NAT...)
    - list all network parameters (fe. static routes, default routes, ACLs for management...)
I think this should help you already. The rest depends on the design and complexity that is in your setup.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Dario

WLC Migration from 4400 to 5500
Hi, it would be better to bring up the 5508 on a different IP address and setup mobility between them and move the APs from the 4400 to the 5508.
The option off loding the configurarion of the 4400 to the 5508 i would not do it since it is 2 different platforms and the configuration file may get corrupted or not work as it should, also the 4400 requires AP manager interface mean while the 5508 not and other differences.
