Migrating from cs5.5 to cc2014

Q1). Where is Playback settings in sequence settings? 2).Problem: I connected my DV Camera (Sony Handycam PAL) via Pinnacle V14 on my laptop with Win8.1, Export do not show video/audio on the Camera. Pls assit.

The Pinnacle do work with the current system (Win 8.1 + Premiere Pro cc2014), I said it earlier in this discussion that I can capture very well with it.
I was just going through the menu this morning and I saw what was missing from sequence settings in Edit > Preference > Plaback, I change the setup to Hardware (if supported) and save the settings. I connected my Pinnacle to the system via usb and i started to export to tape conveniently.

  • Problems after migration from CS5 to 5.5 with Blackmagic Card

    Hello forum,
we have an problem after an optimal migration from cs 5 to 5.5 projects.
different: there is an bm hd extreme 3d card in the system.
We are aware of the issue that there has to switch to BM player an the Timleinl settings to BM
But there is still a problem: we are not able to view the ingested material in the source viewer,
because there is another overlay - form the background or sometheing else - see attached photo.
We add new drivers for graphics/BM and patches for CS 5.5
None of these problems by creating new projects.
Also the applications also  hangs after we try to close,
many thanks for your answers - Sven.

No reason to ask the same question twice. Just be aware that there are German forums as well.
Your problem is probably in the BM drivers.

  • Can I upsell (migrate) from CS5 Design Premium to CS5.5 Production Premium WITHOUT losing InDesign?

I currently own and am a registered user of Adobe CS5 Design Premium. I want to migrate to (and add to what I have already purchased) CS 5.5 Production Premium. I have been told by an Adobe salesperson that if I purchase Production Premium 5.5, I will lose apps. I have purchased in Design Premium that are not also in Production Premium. Can this be true? I hope not. Adding to what I have would force me to throw away apps. that I need and use. Please confirm or deny this awful marketing nonsense.

You won't be forced to throw away anything! The Production Premium suite doesn't contain all the applications of Design Premium. Thus some of the Design Premium applications will not be "upgraded" to their CS5.5 versions when you install Production Premium. If you don't uninstall Design Premium, the CS5 version of those applications will continue to be available on your system.

  • Migrating settings, actions, plug-ins etc. from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud)

    Hi,
I wondered if someone could help me with the transition from CS5 to CS6 (Creative Cloud). I'm on a Mac with Mountain Lion.
I would like to migrate as many settings (i.e. workspaces where relevant), personal Photoshop actions, plug-ins (i.e. Type DNA, FontShop [Photoshop], Scriptographer [Illustrator] and Blurb Template Creator [InDesign]) as possible from CS5 to CS6. What is the easiest and smoothest way to do this?
Some settings, actions and plug-ins might not work with CS6, I don't know. I can't find where my Photoshop actions are archived atm.
Can I import extensions from Adobe Extension Manager CS5 to Adobe Extension Manager CS6?
Should I uninstall all CS5 apps? I'd like to keep InDesign CS5 for backwards compatibility at least.
Does Audition completely replace Soundbooth? What about Flash Catalyst, Device Central and OnLocation?
Edit: I have already installed all the Creative Cloud applications btw. But I haven't uninstalled any CS5 apps yet.
    Thanks,
    Eivind

    Hi Elvind,
I would suggest keeping both CS5 and CS6 versions on the system until you are fully transitioned, longer if you want. When you launch Photoshop CS6 it will ask you if you want to import settings from the prior version. Third party plug-ins may or may not be compatible between versions so you might need to check with the manufacturer to find out. You would most likely need to reinstall any third party plug-ins that integrate into existing Adobe product installations though.
I found this document for Photoshop CS6
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preset-migration-photoshop-cs6.htm l
For the PS actions, I normally open the actions panel, highlight the actions set (folder) I wanted to migrate, from the flyout menu of the panel choose the option to save the set, this creates the .atm file. There is another option for importing actions in the same menu.
I can't speak to migrating in relation to the other products. I would recommend posting in the respective product forums.

  • How to create a ZXP from CS5 throughout CC2014 using ucf.jar

    Hi everybody,
I use a maven build to generate a ZXP from CS5 throughout CS6 for InDesign. Now, I wish to add CC and CC 2014 to this ZXP, so that I have an universal ZXP for all my supported versions.
I use the ucf.jar to generate my current ZXP. I have tried adding CC and CC2014 to my mxi to be able to install on these versions.
The ZXP generate well, and can be installed without signaling any error in the installation. But when I launch InDesign CC 2014 for example, my native plugins behave strangely.
I have noticed in technical notes about UCF that the mentioned versions are up to CS6:
    Adobe Exchange
I have seen other technical notes talking about ZXPSignCmd to package a ZXP, but with do not mention anything about a supported version:
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/SigningTechNote_ CC.pdf
I have tried packaging my extension with UCF, but InDesign CC 2014 seems not to work well with installed extension once installed. I have noticed the symbolic links contained within installed plugins where replaced by the pointed file of the link.
I have tried packaging my extension with ZXPSignCmd, but Extension Manager CS6 tells me the ZXP does not contain any valid signature.
Is there no mean to create an universal ZXP working on all these versions?

    Hi everybody,
I had the chance to talk to Fraser Gregor, developer at Adobe involved in ZXPSignCmd tool development. He told me it was impossible to generate such a ZXP this way.
UCF.jar is a tool for InDesign CS6 and earlier. ZXPSignCmd has been designed for CC and latter versions. The solution he proposed me was having a ZXP for any version under CS6, and a ZXP for any version latter than CC. Then, he told me to have a wrapper ZXP to contain both of them. Following this way, I can have an universal ZXP.
It is a little more work, but this should work. To create the universal ZXP, we can use ZXPSignCmd.

  • Main icons are missing on Dreamweaver cs5.5 after migrating from one mac to another

Can someone help me? My icons are missing after migrating dreamweaver cs5.5 using migration assistance on a mac. I have no idea how to fix this...

Migration Assistant is not recommended for transferring DW to another system.
Uninstall DW in full and do a fresh re-install of DW from the installer (either CD/ DVD or a .DMG file).

  • Cannot open file exported from CS5 as .idml into CC2014.

I'm trying to open a file created in InDesign CS5 in the newest CC version of InDesign.
It is a large (2GB) file comprised entirely of placed images.
I found a thread that suggested exporting as idml.
I did export from CS5 as idml which made the file size a mere 195 MB.
When I tried to open it in CC2014 I got the error message:
Cannot open the file "name.indd"  Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in
that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application.
I had quit from CS5 before attempting to open the file in CC2014.
I had thought that exporting as .idml would change the file type suffix from
.indd to .idml but I'm not in the weeds enough to be sure about that.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
    Roger

I had thought it might be.
I preserved my original (created in CS5) and saved a copy
to try it in CC 2014. The copy wouldn't open in CC.
I deleted this copy and tried again with a new copy
Tried to open in CC - no go.
Opened the new copy in CS5 - no problem.
If the file were corrupt, would it still open in CS5, or is this
    a forward compatibility issue?

  • Migrated from iMac to new iMac, CS5.5 missing components

    Hi,
I'm being asked to reinstall Photoshop CS5.5 because "some of the application components missing from the Application directory" after I Migrated from an older iMac to a new one. Also InDesign is quitting unexpectedly, with no other message than "send to Apple."
I can't seem to figure out how to download the program again from Adobe to fix this. I  bought CS5.5 in February 2012 and selected the "download only" feature, which I hope I am not going to regret. It should have been easy to find a way to download it again and deactivate the old computer (I have another older iMac I'm keeping activated).
Where can I download the CS5.5 that I bought less than 9 months ago? I don't want to upgrade to 6.
    Thank you for your help.

  • I want to migrate my custom new doc sizes from cs6 to cc/cc2014

I want to migrate my custom new doc sizes from cs6 to cc/cc2014 where can i find that file to copy to new versions of Photoshop?

Yes it look like Adobe migrate presets misses your new document size presets.  I was able to copy my "New Doc Sizes.psp" preference file from CC preferences to CC 2014 preferences a manual migrate at best.

  • Upgrade paths from cs5 to cs5.5

    Hello,
I just got off the phone with customer service. I upgraded from CS4 to CS5 in late December. I would like to upgrade InDesign from CS5 to the 5.5 version. I was told this isn't an option because I own the suite.
This perplexes me since I have purchased many, many single items from Adobe in the past--from Pagemaker 3 pretty much on. Is it really true that once I went to CS2 I abandoned my rights to upgrade individual products?
It seems a bit unreasonable, after spending $600 at the end of last year, that now, three months later, I need to spend another $400 just to update one program. Am I missing something?
I am posting here because the representative I spoke with had a really, really hard time understanding English and I'm not sure he even got my question. It took him over a half hour just to find my account and verify that I had a registered version of Design Premium. He told me that part of the problem was that I have purchased so many Adobe (and Macromedia) products over the past 15 years that I now have four accounts and that it was not possible to consolidate all my software under one single account. This also sounds very odd. HELP!
    Thanks!
    Ruth

I looked into crossgrading. The whole thing was a comedy of errors. My new custom built super-charged PC developed an un-diagnoasable software error, and then got stolen after being sent in for repaired. At the time, it seemed like my best option was to start the migration from Windows, buy a Mac laptop, get software to run on it, yet still keep my Windows options open in case the PC was found. I was using a backup PC to keep work on schedule.
I used one of my Macromedia cross-platform suite products to upgrade to the Mac CS3 suite. So it wasn't as expensive as it could have been. In hindsight, yes, I should have just abandoned the PC and crossgraded. But I was very fearful after all the computer issues I had encountered that I would have problems with one or the other of the two computers and I felt I needed some redundancy just to ensure I didn't have more downtime.
I'll look through the Adobe site for a license transfer form. When I called several months ago, the agent, made it sound like these were very difficult to come by. Or perhaps, the agent just didn't know. I've ran into this several times with Adobe. One agent tells you one thing, another says something entirely different. Customer service is lacking in my opinion.

  • Evertime I try to print from CS5 running iMac w?Maverick CS5 crashes

Running CS5 on iMac with Maverick, every time I attempt to print CS5 crashes.

Just posted identical issue, almost 4 months after yours. I don't expect any replies since you've had none, so wondered if you were able to solve the problem?

Just a few days ago migrated from older iMac running 10.6.8 to new iMac running 10.9.4
I have the PS (and Indesign CS5) disc but am reluctant to attempt a reinstall, based on forum items where things were made worse
At the moment my work around is to print in Indesign.

  • Preinstalled filters from CS5 not showing up in CS6 upgrade

I just installed CS6 upgrade from CS5 but the Nik and Topaz software filters are not showing up.  How do I get CS6 to recognize them without having to reinstall all of them again.

How do I get CS6 to recognize them without having to reinstall all of them again.
You don't. The behavior is as it always has been - Adobe apps never migrate legacy plug-ins and content to avoid compatibility issues. and you will probably need updated vertsions for CS6, anyway.

  • Opening CS5 project in CC2014 - Timecode is different on spanned clips

Hi All. I am having issues opening the CS5 project in CC2014 (latest update).
    Here's the story -
I was editing a documentary project on an old Mac Pro and needed to upgrade (speed and storage wise). So I am now working on a thunderbolt 2 lacie drive and MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16gig, SSD 512. This was just a month ago. So i loaded CC. The CS5 project opens fine and fast in the new CC2014 software on the new macbook, however I have discovered that many of the clips are wrong, same tracks just different timecode.
Below are two identical timelines... The first is CC2014 and the lighter grey is CS5. The CS5 image is correct and the CC2014 is incorrect. The footage on both sequences is from the same tape number, but for some reason the time code is being read differently. The 803 clip is almost 10 minutes different in CC2014.
Now both projects are identical. The only difference is that CC2014 converts the CS5 clip into a CC2014 project.
Would appreciate any help and advice. I know it's not wise to change software during a project, but I didn't realise this would happen as it seems to be a fundamental change in the way the software reads the media, and I'm unsure what's new in CC2014 to make such a major problem occur.
    Thanks
    Scott

    An Update.
I exported an EDL out of CS5 and then brought the EDL into CC2014. I relinked the media in question and it works fine. The EDL however is not ideal for what I am doing here, as the relinking in CC2014 is not working properly either.

  • Importing of settings from CS5.5 is incomplete.

When I installed Photoshop CS6, I opted to import the presets from CS5.5.  My custom workspace in both Photoshop and Bridge were included, but the custom actions I regularly use in Photoshop, and my Favorites in Bridge, were not.  Until the import/export option can be made more comprehensive, Is there a document available somewhere for how to manually import all custom settings, both global and in individual user profiles?  I need this not just for Photoshop, but for the entire Creative Suite.

    Hello cwcsdc,
Preset migration only works on Photoshop presets that are saved in the default presets folder. On Mac this is on /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets and on Windows they are in the user AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets folders.
Best thing you can do is to copy all your presets to the respective folders within those directories. If your presets are not in these folders, they will not show up in the app UI anyways, so moving them will help you reach them easier.
Sadly, we can't account for presets from the other apps in the Creative Suite.
    Hope this answers your questions.
