Basic on my research, I’m afraid that there is no tool for this kind of migration, we may need to start from PST file.
We can use Microsoft Exchange PST Capture to search for PST files on computers in your organization and then import those files to mailboxes in your organization, for your reference:

Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead? (The original source of your data) If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it. It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.

Cisco ACS Engine appliance 1120 software upgrade

I want to upgrade my Cisco ACS Engine appliance 1120 from software version 3.3 to the latest version (5.x). How do I go about this? Someone should help please.

It is highly suspicious that you would have a 1120 appliance that is running 3.3
ACS 3.3 was with the ACS solution engine 1111, 1112 and 1113.
ACS 5 requires the appliance 1120/1121 so it requires an appliance change. I'm puzzled about how you could be running 3.3 for 1120 since there is no installation DVD for that.
As a general thing, one has to follow the ACS 5 migration guide on cisco.com that explains the process quite well. You need to go to acs 4.1/4.2 to migrate to 5.

Migrating Samba/LDAP from Linux to OSX Server

Hi all. I've inherited a fairly "pure" implementation of OpenLDAP and Samba 3.x, running on a Debian server. While it's stable enough, making user changes is not terribly easy, and involves using LDAP and then smbpasswd, for example. I can manage this well enough myself, but for political reasons (mainly having to do with the "beer truck" theory of information loss), I'd like to standardize on something somewhat more intuitive. Additionally, I want to set up some groupware, etc, and haven't found much joy with most of the offerings out there. As far as resources, I've got one fairly nice PowerEdge that stores roaming profiles for windows users, as well as the LDAP server. I've got a second server for DHCP (no DNS), and did I mention no DNS? My third server is for mail. And then I've got an XServe that I can install Tiger Server on. Here's what I'd like to be able to do:
* Make the XServe the PDC, and demote the existing linux PDC to a BDC role.
* Use the existing LDAP server if at all possible, or setup mirroring between the two.
* Keep the user profiles and other assorted directories on the linux machines where they are currently.
* Move the entire domain, all user and machine accounts, etc. onto OpenDirectory.
* Do this without causing noticeable disruption to my userbase - I will have the opportunity to do the migration during a holiday week where not many people are around, but I don't want to rebind every stinking computer to the domain.
* Earn the respect and adulation of my peers, and have them buy me free coffee forever.
I've paged through the "Migrating to Mac OS X Server from Windows NT" PDF over on the Documentation page, and some of it looks useful, although a lot of it looks pretty specific to defenestration, whereas my project is more like a penguin demotion. The stuff I'm most concerned about in this respect is keeping the file shares where they are, dcpromo, and using the extant LDAP server.
Also, I'm wondering how beefy an Xserve I'd want to have to do the user auth piece. I'm currently supporting about 140 users and about 250 machines, although the user count will jump to around 800 when I create accounts for the secondary students.

I've successfully moved users off a similar setup (Debian Linux, Courier IMAP, SquirrelMail) to my new Xserve. I used imapsync-1.239

I initially tried using the MacPorts install of the same version, but it constantly failed to authenticate with the Xserve. I have my Xserve setup for always using CRAM-MD5 auth. (Make sure you have all of the Perl MD5 modules install, including the optional ones, if you use MD5 auth). So, I downloaded it and compiled it directly. This eventually worked and with only a couple of bad emails, out of thousands, that did not transfer. It also will retain flags set on the previous server (seen, replied, etc.). I ran it from the Xserve and connected to the Linux box remotely.
I have no experience with Qmail.
If you use procmail on the Linux machine though, you will need to recreate those scripts as sieve scripts on the Mac. I found the SquirrelMail plugin for sieve scripts most helpful.

Anybody know a way to get my users/groups from a linux server to SL 10.6 server? It would be a pain to re-do by hand, esp. passwords.

Just take the G4 along with you & decide what you want to migrate from it to the new MBP. As mentioned in Apple Retail Store - One to One, a primary feature of this service is transferring your files from your old computer to your new one for you.

Migrating from 10.4.11 Server to Mavericks (App) Server

Hello All!
We have recently purchased a new Mac Mini 2.3GHz quad-core i7 with OS Server, in the hope of replacing our current G5 X-Serve running 10.4.11.
I would like it to be known that I am not a server administrative wizard, but am aware that the migration from 10.4.11 to an Intel-based system is not as pleasant as I had imagined.
Our G5 hosts our Mail database (Cyrus IMAP) - and this is my primary concern. I have read that the new Mail service differs hugely from Cryus (Dovecot - if Im not mistaken?). We rely hugely on archive mail for legal reasons and losing it is not an option. I will of course have Carbon Copy Cloned the X Serve before carrying out any migration, and certainly intend to leave the old hog alone if I need to revert to it at a later stage.
The only documentation I can find is the Apple Technical document which outlines how to migrate from 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard Server 10.6 - this is an issue for me, since I have Mavericks now installed on the Mac Mini and "reverting" back to an older OS is rather difficult (especially with no superdrive).
Could anybody please point me in the right direction? Is it likely that I will need to downgrade the Mini's OS first? Or have Apple already produced literature which can guide me through this process?

Migration Assistant will not overwrite the OS or replace newer versions of applications with older ones. It is designed to do what you presumably want to do: make the transition from the older to newer Mac(s) as smooth as possible.
One thing: if it is convenient to do so, I suggest you connect each old & new Mac by Firewire, with the older one in Firewire Target Disk Mode, to do the Migration. This will be the fastest way to do the migration.

1- Installl Redhat Enterprose Linux 5 64 bit ( need to confirm the 5.x version ) as the current DB 10.2.0.5 will not certified for RHEL6Correct only 11.2.0.3 db version is certified with RHEL6.
In oracle certification I can see the certified 64 bit RHEL OS for 10.2.0.5 is RHEL5 ("Oracle Database 10.2.0.5.0 is certified on Linux x86-64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5"). Please let me know the last supported version in RHEL5 which I can go for. I could not find anything about it. I am thinking, I can go for RHEL 5.5 and in the same OS can I upgrade DB 10.2.0.5 to version 11.2.0.3 after the migration.?The latest version is 5.8 and you can download it from e-delivery.

Migration from linux intel 32bit to linux AMD_Opteron 64bit

I'm trying to duplicate an instance from a 10.2.0.2 intel 32 server to an opteron 64bit (10.2.0.3).
Which are the options?
If I take an Rman Backup and I try the Restore I can't open the destination db.
If I issue a startup migrate and then I run the catupgrd.sql script I get the error

ERROR at line 1:

If this depends from the platform migration, maybe the only option is to use export/import?

Hi, the OS is RedHat3 on the source database and RedHat5 on the destination database.
I would have preferred to use the backup/restore but, since I have found several issues on the migration from 32bit to 64bit, I think I will use the export/import path to move data.

My network will be Apple only in a few time (1 server, 1 iMac and 1 Mac Pro).
Now, I want to replace server and all services installed on it :
- Active Directory (replaced by Open Directory)
- Users/Groups/machines
- NAT/Firewall and Backup (will be replaced by a Time Capsule)
- VPN for mobile access
- File and Printer sharing
- Fax Services with Fax/Modem 56K !oops! (replaced by a free service offer by my ISP)
- Mail/Calendar/Address book and notes with Exchange (replaced by each service to serv right thing : Mail, iCal, Address book...).
I know what to do with all things but not for replacing Exchange and transfer datas to each similar service in Snow Leopard.
In the network, Mail Server will be used by Outlook with IMAP protocol and other services by web interface (Windows computers are not a problem for me, it can be alone and only access web if necessary).
The number of clients inside the LAN :
- 2 iPhones
- 1 iPod Touch
- 1 PC Windows Vista (for a few time) with some VM (Linux and Windows)
- 1 iMac 27' with 1 VM (Windows)
- 1 LAN Printer HP Deskjet 6127 (RJ45 Static IP connection)

Disk Migration from Tiger-based iMac to Leopard MacBook

A friend just bought a new MacBook (with Leopard). She wants to do a disk migration from her G5 iMac (running Tiger). Any issues I should know about when doing this? Or should I upgrade the iMac to Leopard before doing the disk migration?

A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
Screensavers written for the PowerPC
System Preference add-ons
All Unsanity Haxies
Browser and other plug-ins
Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries

In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.

Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode or copying the critical contents to CD and DVD or an external hard drive will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs.
Basically the instructions you should follow are:
1. Backup your data first. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
2. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
3. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
4. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
4. Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
/Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)

DFS New Setup migrating from 2003 R2 file server to 2012 Server STD

We currently have a 2003 R2 flat file server with multiple layers of nested network shares with over 2.5TB of data. We want to migrate to DFS on 2012 Server standard version with deduplication enabled. We have never worked with DFS and deduplication and
any white paper on DFS and deduplication would be greatly appreciated. Not finding anything on DFS step by step for 2012 and in particular migrating from 2003 file share to 2012 server DFS.

Thank you for the URL to your DFS write up. This was very helpful in my research of DFS. I have a couple of questions. Do I have to start DFS with two servers? I completely understand why you should have more than one server in the DFS pool (high
availability) but is it necessary? Also after setting up the two 2012 Servers with DFS, namespaces, and new shares managed by DFS manager, how do we migrate (move or copy) the existing shares to new server without losing the permissions? From what I've read
in your write-up all end users with have read and write permissions and admins have full. Also is there a best practice on how nested the shares should be setup within DFS? From looking at your write up the shares are one folder deep only. At this
company I'm migrating from a file server with shares 3-8 layers deep build up over the last 20 years.
