Migrating from Local Database to OpenDirectory, and Migrating IMAP Boxes

I have a Xserve G5 running 10.4.11 and using a local (non shared) directory with all of my users on it. I'm planning to install a new Xserve (10.5.2) to use as a Fileserver and Filemaker Server, essentialy leaving the mail service to the G5. However, i want to use the OpenDirectory on the 10.5 server in order to maintain only one user database. I'Ve tested out the functionnalities and it looks like that there is no problems using the 10.5 OD with my 10.4 server, however, since 90% of my users are using IMAP mailboxes, i cannot migrate the database to the new users
Example:
On the local directory of the 10.4 server, i have a user called Wiggum using IMAP mailbox, working fine. I tell my 10.4 to use the OD on the 10.5 server (user Wiggum already configured over there with the same settings, passwords) and when i remove the user from the local directory, leaving only the OD, the user is working OK, mail is working fine but i loose all contents of my IMAP box, i get only the new mails.
Is there a way to migrate the IMAP boxes from the users on the local directory when i migrate them to the new OD.

I would think the first shortname is different in OD vs. the local user. Thus, creating a second mailbox and this is why you see only new incoming mail.
Check if you have "duplicate" mailboxes. If yes, you could copy mail from one to the other and reconstruct the mail database.

  • Replicate some tables from local database server to Remote database sever

how can i replicate some tables from local database server(Oracle 8.1.7 on windows 2000 server) to a remote database server(Oracle 8.1.7 on Sun Solaris)
whenever there is some insertion or updation on the table of base(main) database it should get updated to the remote database server
    or
on time base for example: every 2 hours
    please help me!!!!

It all depends on waht you are going to do with the data on the remote.
if tehre are no updates there, creating a simple materialized view on the remote to pull it's data from the local should suffice.
If there are updates on the remote, you will more than likely want to look into either Multi-master replication, or updatable materialized views.

  • How is the best way to send data from local database into remote database ?

    Hi all,
I need to send data from local Oracle database into remote oracle database. Both sites connected via 128 kbps frame relay connection.
The sending need to be done once a week, can be done nightly.
How is the best way to do this ?
    Thank you very much,
    xtanto

How is the best way to do this ?How much are you planning to send?
You can use COPY command. Ensure that you have valid database link between two databases.
    Available options are:
create - creates a new table. errors out if the destination table exists.
replace - drop the destination table and re-creates with data.
insert - inserts data if the destination table exists.
append– appends data into an existing table.
use set arraysize 5000 -The arraysize specifies the number of rows that SQL*Plus will retrieve from the database at one time.
    copy from scott/tiger@ORCL to scott/tiger@ORCL92 create new_emp using select * from emp;

  • Cannot insert data from local database into remote database using subquery

I have two oracle databases on different host.
One is version 8i in Host A and the other is 9i in Host B.
First, I try to create a dblink in 8i to 9i, but it fail.
Then, I create a dblink in 9i to 8i, it success.
I have already tried some select statement in 9i to view the table in 8i, which is success and that means the dblink is really work.
    The sql statement is like
    Select * from table1@hostA
Then I have tried running some INSERT statement in 9i, which is copy data from table 1 in 8i to table 2 in 8i, both tables are in 8i. The sql statement is like
    Insert INTO table2@hostA(field1, field2)
    select field1, field2
    from table1@hostA
    This also success.
Also, I have tried to use the following INSERT statement
Insert INTO table2@hostA(field1, field2) values ('XXX', 'XXX)
    This also success.
However, when I try to insert data from table in 9i to table in 8i using the following INSERT statement, it failed.
    Insert INTO table2@hostA(field1, field2)
    select field1, field2
    from table1
The statement can execute, but all the rows inserted with every field value equal to NULL. I have tried to run the select part, it can return the data. But when I run the INSERT statement above, the value inserted into table2 is all equal to NULL.
One more thing, I discover that the databases are using different NLS_CHARACTERSET
    9i is AL32UTF8
    8i is WE8ISO8859P1
Is this relevant to my problem?
Does anyone know the solution about this problem?
    Thanks!!

  • I can not download ebooks from local library onto ADE and my NOOK

After having updated windows to 8.1 suddenly I could not download books from library. Message came up with Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? If I tap Yes it says set up has detected an existing version of ADE. Would you like to repair existing installation? Tap Yes.Tick box to agree to licence agreement. Goes through and closes but when I then try again it says that application can not be found.
I have tried uninstalling ADE, upgrading to ADE 4.0 but nothing helps. Any ideas of what I could do? Thankful for any clues.

    Hi,
Regarding your problem follow the instructions as given below.
    Solution 1)
                        1) Plugin your Reader to your computer.
                        5) There you will find a new drive created similar to C or D drive under My computer.
                        6) Open the Readers Drive and you will find a folder with name adobe.digital.editions.
                        7) Delete this folder and plug off and re plug in the Reader.
                        8) Authorize Reader.
    Solution 2)
        Click Start>>Run
Type "regedit" in the box and hit enter.
        Locate the following key HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Adobe>Adept
Right click on it and select Delete.
Now connect your Reader and launch Digital Editions.
I hope this will help you

    Hello;
Script has to be run from auxiliary.
Great details, but what I don't see is how you connect in RMAN.
    Example
    Start RMAN
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@recover2 auxiliary=sys/@reclone
    Recovery Manager: Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production on Wed Feb 22 14:50:31 2012
Copyright (c) 1982, 2009, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
connected to target database: RECOVER2 (DBID=3806912436)
connected to auxiliary database: RECLONE (not mounted)Nothing in your tnsnames or listener jumps out as wrong. I copied them into my text editor and compared against my working ones.
Generally for active duplication I start the future standby on a pfile NOMOUNT.
Auxiliary Instance Initialization Parameters Needed :
    DB_NAME
    CONTROL_FILES
    DB_BLOCK_SIZE
( add extra parameters like DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT instead of using the SET command - clean up standby spfile right after duplication )
Then start RMAN and finally run a single line duplication command.
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=sys/@primary auxiliary=sys/@standby
RMAN>duplicate target database for standby from active database NOFILENAMECHECK;Best Regards

  • RV320 "DNS Local Database" no function

I did setup a brand new RV320 today. Firmware is v1.1.0.09.
I am facing the following problem...
I filled the "DNS local database" with names and IPs and expected that
clients connected via DHCP will be able to use that names in the LAN
instead of IPs. DNS server mode is set to "Use DNS Proxy".
However, clients don't get the names resolved as expected.
Any idea, what does go wrong?

I found the same issue after setting up a local hostname in the DNS table in my RV320 (firmware v1.1.0.06) about a week ago but I don't think the explanation in your "reply" is correct. What I noticed at first is that I couldn't ping the host by name from my Windows PC, but it worked fine from my Android tablet or Linux PC. Experimenting a bit more yesterday, I ran Wireshark while pinging from my Windows PC and discovered that if I used a host name, but not a domain, the PC sent a couple of LLMNR packets (destination IP 224.0.0.252), to which it got no reply, then gave up. If I pinged an external site from Windows, e.g. www.google.co.uk, it issued a single DNS query, destination 192.168.0.1, got a response either from the RV320's proxy cache or the ISP's DNS, and carried on with echoes. If I add a domain extension to the local hostname in the name table, e.g my router's default domain, router44fda0.com, and ping hostname.router44fda0.com, the PC also issues a DNS query, and gets an instant (well, 0.864 millisecs) response from the RV320. I set up my target host with Bonjour (the avahi daemon), and pinging hostname.local from my Windows PC, found that it began with a double multicast DNS (mDNS) query (destination IP 224.0.0.251) asking for the same nodename on IPv4 (type A query) and on IPv6 (type AAAA query), to which my target Linux system responded with hostname.local and the IPv4address, but not the IPv6 address. To my surprise,125 millisecs after the PC  received the IPv4 address, it issued a DNS query to the router, which responded  "no such name" (the hostname was still set up with the router's default domain extension). Even stranger, the PC then issued two LLMNR queries with just the hostname, not the .local extension, to which it got no replies, and finally a second mDNS query, this time a single IPv6 (type AAAA) request for hostname.local, to which it also got no replies. So only the first mDNS query got a successful response. I presume that if had got a successful response from any of the other queries, they would have superceded the first response, i.e. it is saying if the DNS disagrees with the multicast DNS, the DNS is right, if LLMNR disagrees with mDNS and DNS, then LLMNR is right, and if it gets an IPv6 response to the mDNS query, that trumps everything!
My point is that the RV320 does respond to a DNS request, even if it only has a host name in its table. The problem encountered above is that Windows does not issue a DNS request if you ask it to open a host name with no domain.
BTW, I understand that the only reason my PC issues an mDNS query is that Apple install an mDNS extension when iTunes is installed. The mDNS query is only issued if the domain is .local

  • Generating an Entity Bean from a Database Table

I am following the tutorial "How Do I: Generate an Entity Bean from a Database
Table?" and in that process doing the "Configuring a Data Source". This is the
message I get when I configure a data source per the tutorial and click OK. This
data source exists and the information is correct that I have supplied.
Do I need to put the MS jars somewhere to enable this?
    See attached file

I've just figured it out. An input source also takes a Reader in its constructor. I was thinking that it only took an InputStream, and as the Serializer requires you to set a Writer on it, I was finding it impossible to convert between bytes and chars. Now, I have simply set a blank CharArrayWriter on the Serializer, got a char[] from it once the Serializer has written the Document to the stream, and then constructed a CharArrayReader with this char[]. It works fine now. Not that anyone read the problem anyway cos I solved it a few minutes after I posted it. Considering it first cropped up about 4 months ago and it has been niggling ever since, I am pleased!

  • Import data from local file: insufficient privilege

As part of a project I'm working on, I have to load data (only a few thousand records) into a HANA Development instance on HCP. Last week I did this several times with no problem using File > Import from HANA Studio and choosing Data From Local File. Yesterday and today I get this message (most of the time, but not all the time): SAP DBTech JDBC: [258]: insufficient privilege: Not authorized.
Does anybody know why this might be and what do to about it?
Are there batch alternatives? I have not found any. The INPUT INTO statement also gives authorization problems.

    Thanks for Your replies.
Jochen - I can't find schema.ini file and your link doesn't work - I mean that site is under construction
Mahesh - I tried to changed cells' format in excel, but file is saved without changes (as csv).
Pandey - I read about DTW but I can't find it anywhere. Is there a site where it could be downloaded from?
Finally I solved this problem. After saving file as xls I could changed cells' format and save with changes. It helped - data '1-10-103' is imported correctly.

  • Flatfile loading from Local Workstation

    Hello,
I am training BW, and i have this Proccess Chain simulating some data, acquired from a Infopackage that pulls data from a Flatfile.
In the first execution i couldn't pull the data because it said
"An upload from the client workstation in the background is not possible"
I came here and basicly read that this is impossible to do. Nevertheless i got a bit further and discovered this option on the Tabs Menu of the Proccess Chain
"Execution -> Execute Synchronously" and the PC starts running in the background and my Flatfile infopackage get the data and i am able to populate the Target with that data!
My question is, what is this Execute Synchronously proccess doing and what, if some, effects or problems it may arise?
    Thanks
Edited by: John Oliveira on Feb 11, 2009 1:54 PM

    Hi
    Synchronous Processing
A request is processed synchronously in a dialog process -- for example  when it is started in debug mode from DTP maintenance. The debugger settings allow you to enable automatic synchronization after each control method. In debugging mode, the system then executes a flush call after each control call. If a runtime error occurs, the call is displayed that caused the error.
You cannot Load Flat file from Local Work station untill and unless it is assigned at AL11 and you have proper Authorizations for the same.
    Hope it helps and clear
