Migrating from lotus notes to SharePoint 2010

We have a client using Lotus Notes (the full suite) and now they want to migrate to SharePoint 2010.  What are the possible ways of doing this?

Hi,
There is no OOB way for your need.

  • Losing out custom metadata info of few documents of a document librarby when migrated from MOSS 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

We have recently migrated from moss2007 to sharepoint 2010.We have a document library containing large no. of documents in it  & for those documents there are some custom metadata columns apart from OOB library columns . We have user content DB attach
migration and after that we can see blank value under the custom columns for some records. However interesting point is we can see this metadata is showing for few documents.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
What is your Office edition? When we create a managed metadata column in a Document Library, it will prompt that ‘Earlier versions of client programs might not support this type of column’. You should use Office 2010 to edit and create a document then save
    to document library .
For detailed information ,please refer to this article:

  • Migration from Lotus Note / Domino to Microsoft office 365

Core functionality has been agreed to be tested which include:
    - Provisioning of user account (create, delete, amend)
    - Authentication
    - Data Migration and
    - Usability.
The Background of the project is the migration of data from Lotus note/Domino to Microsoft Office 365.
A: How would we go about testing the product?
B: What are the main features to look out for in order to  achieve test coverage in this type of project?

For migrating Lotus Notes (NSF files) & Domino Server Mailboxes in Office 365 accounts use only a Good-Quality Lotus Notes to Office 365 migration application. The product executes Bulk migrations with high-speed and data security. Perform migration
of emails, contacts (mailing lists), calendars and task (to-do lists) completely into Office 365.

  • Shared Mailbox migrating from Lotus Notes to Exchange

We currently have Lotus Notes and in the process of migrating to Exchange Server 2010. We are using the Quest Notes Migrator for Exchange and the Quest Coexistence Manager for Notes tools.
One of the issues we’re coming across is Shared Mailboxes..
    Currently in Notes we have:
Signatures as part of the NSF file so they are included with every email – how will Outlook clients behave for Shared Mailboxes? Because we want the same Signature to be part of every email sent from a shared mailbox regardless of which user sent the email.
We are aware that if we use OWA we won’t have this problem, but how do we configure Signatures for Shared Mailboxes using Outlook clients?
Stationary: We have Stationery linked to our Shared Mailbox accounts, so for example, in our helpdesk mailbox, we have stationary documents/templates we send to end users who email our helpdesk asking a FAQ. Opposed to pointing users to SharePoint, how
do we tackle this in Outlook? Is there options?
    Thanks
    Ray

    Hi,
    1. you can use transport rule to have same signature when from field contains shared mailbox email address.
    2. Sorry, I don't understand your second question.

  • Data Migration from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
We have done a migration project for one of our client.
This migration was done from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010.
After the migration was completed we developed lot of new webparts, lists ,application pages in this newly migrated farm in SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010.
However the entire project took around 1 year due to some unavoidable delays. During this one year our client was using MOSS 2007 sites for there work. hence the data in MOSS 2007 farm/sites was continuously updated.
Our client needs to go live in next month and also needs the sites/lists/libraries which are migrated in new SP 2010 farm to be updated as per the MOSS 2007 farm.
Kindly suggest best possible way to achieve this data migration since last 1 year from MOSS 2007 to newly migrated SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010 farm.
Kindly note we have done lot of customization and new developments in newly created SP 2010 farm.
    Thanks and regards,
    Amien

    Hi there,
If you have already taken care of customization on SP2010 server. Then use any of the migration tools available in market to migrate data to target SP server.
Content Matrix gives free 25 GB to migrate your SharePoint data (https://www.metalogix.com/Resources/Promotions/Content-Matrix-Migration-Express-Download.aspx).
If you don't know what is changed in last 1 year, then best thing to do is add new content database and migrate your data into it.
    Hope that helps.

  • Migrating From Lotus-TeamRoom to Sharepoint

    Hi ,
We are planning to shift to sharepoint From TeamRoom , I need to clarify few things
    1) There are about 100 categories with documents in each category . Is it possible to import all the documents from Teamroom to Sharepoint with the same categories ? and without missing any documents
can anyone explain this question ?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to shift to SharePoint form Lotus Notes TeamRoom.
As this is the forum for the SharePoint server, I’m not familiar with the Lotus, and not sure about it.
However, I recommand you use the content type while migrating.
“Category” and “sub-category”-type fields have their place in many an application, but when possible, build content types for each choice in the “category”-type field.
Why? You would be surprised how often these categories actually represent unique business cases that require (or will require) additional fields to completely define them.
    http://thedotnetter.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/notes-to-sharepoint/
What’s more, as the issue is related to Lotus , I recommend you can post your question to the forum for Lotus:
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/community/index.html
More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to Lotus.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

  • How to generate XML data from Lotus Notes to migrate to SharePoint by passing XML to SharePoint.?

How to generate XML data from Lotus Notes to migrate to SharePoint by passing XML to SharePoint.?
    Ramesh S

You could use XMLQuery to return the data from your tables as XML, that would give you a CLOB.
An example using the SCOTT schema might be like this:
    SELECT XMLQuery(
             'for $i in ora:view("DEPT")/ROW
              return <Department dname="{$i/DNAME}">
                     <Employee>
                       {for $j in ora:view("EMP")/ROW
                        where $j/DEPTNO eq $i/DEPTNO
                        return ($j/ENAME, $j/JOB, $j/SAL)}
                     </Employee>
                     </Department>'

  • Search not working in site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013

I have few site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013 using database attach (first to 2010 and then to 2013).
When I search for anything in these migrated sites, I get "Nothing here matches your search".
Checked the crawl log for these sites and see this error for all items.
The content processing component failed to process the security descriptor of the item. ( The input ACL is invalid (1210 / 2072).; ; SearchID =
    Some-Random-GUID )
Search works fine in newly created sites in 2013 environment.
    Please help.

    Hello
Did you migrate your users to claims when you migrated the databases?
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication http://yourdom.com
    $wa.MigrateUsers($true)
    $wa.ProvisionGlobally()
I assume the sites that work and the migrated content are in the same database?

    Hi All,
I want to migrate almost 5000 documents from Lotus Notes to Stellent Repository. Is there any way to achieve this functionality?
how to integrate both the things please let me know.
    Regards,
    Vishal Shah

    Hey Vishal,
    one approach could be
    1) fetch all the documnets and metadata (wat ever you need) from the Lotus Notes repository using java+Lotus API 2) write a BatchLoad script file using the metadata you have. And then start the batch loader.
    other approach could be to
    1) fetch all the documnets and metadata (wat ever you need) from the Lotus Notes repository using java+Lotus API
    2) Checkthem in using the WSDLs.
There is one thing thought that even i would like to know its which of the two will perform better ?

  • Calendar or PIM Sofltware Suggestions Migrating from Lotus Organizer Palm Centro Unblocked

Any suggestions for Calendar and PIM software for migrating from Lotus Organizer?
Lotus Organizer 6.1 does not support Palm Centro. Palm Desktop is a shell of a program instead. I need a real PIM that I can use.
And no Outlook isn't much better. I've now experimented with both Palm Desktop and Outlook.
Key is that they must work with Centro.

    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

The only app that I know of is called Intellisync (which is now owned by Nokia I think. There's been a lot of company buyouts). This software will let you sync your Palm to just about anything (Outlook, Louts Notes, Novell GroupWise, etc).
Head on over to their website at: http://www.sync.com/
Although, I'd hurry. Looks like they're going to stop selling it in a couple weeks.

  • Sending an email from Lotus Notes release 5.0.4a

I need to write java code for sending an email from Lotus Notes release 5.0.4a.
Initially, I tried using Lotus Domino Toolkit for java, but the current release, "Lotus Domino ToolKit for Java/Corba release 5.0.8" is not compatible with the notes client/server we are using(5.0.4a).
Now, I am trying to use "Lotus Domino Toolkit 2.1" which supports notes version 5.0.3 and higher, but I couldnot find out how to use it to send email.
Is there are other way in which we can connect to Lotus Notes for sending email. I cannot use SMTP as the Lotus Notes administrator is afraid of security issues so there is no possibility that I can connect to Domino server using java mail API by enabling SMTP on the Domino server.
I would be thankful if somebody can help me to do this.

First off - This is very "off topic"
The Domino SMTP server is not hard to lock down. Any Notes Admin worth his/her salt should know how to do it. Try to persuade them to run the SMTP stuff using name and password authentication only, or restrict access to an IP address range. This is all easy stuff.
Otherwise DIIOP/CORBA is one way to go. If your toolkit jar files don't work with the server then try using the ones on the server. Look in %noteshome%\data\domino\java for the ncso.jar file.
This works for me on an AS/400 java VM to WinNT/Linux Domino servers of various versions.
How to create an email using this method is again not difficult. All you really need is a blank database template. You have to create a document with certain fields in it (all documented) and then save it. That's all there is to it.
Word of warning DIIOP is not very rapid and careless coding can create problems. Ensure that once you have finished a session you make sure you close it else you will have continual connection problems.
Try searching around the domino/notes groups on how to actually do this.

  • RFC call from Lotus Notes

    Hi,
I have create an RFC function, and have a successful test in R/3.
And when I call this RFC function from Lotus Notes. The return message is AA 291 'No correction'.
    Anybody know the reason?
    Best regards,
    leric

    Hello Leric,
as an alternative option to using RFC, you may also consider using WebServices. SAP Systems as of Web Application Server 6.20 onwards offer all BAPIs as Web Services.
please take a look at the R/3 web services browser: http://<hostname>:<icmport>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/WebServiceBrowser/search.html
you may also take a look at SAP TechED 2006 session ID SOA150 (Providing and consuming web services in ABAP - http://www.sapteched.com/06/emea/edu_sessions/viewall.htm)
    Regards
    Michael
PS: if you want to use RFC, you may consider using different connectivity options such as LEI Domino connector from IBM, ZeNotes from Konplan (http://www.konplan.com/public1/_EN/solutions_zenotes.php) or it.smartconnect from itelligence (http://it-smart-connect.itelligence.de/)

  • Drag and drop from Lotus Notes

    Hi all,
I have a little problem with dnd from Lotus Notes. The purpose is dragging a mail from Notes and dropping it on my java application outside of notes.
When I check the incoming flavors, there are 53 of them. The most of them are meaningless or empty, but 1 has my interest. It contains an URL from notes and with this URL I should be able to identify the mail within the correct Notes DB.
Asking the transferData for this flavor gives me this tracing, the @ are replaced be some squares in the original tracing.
It's the first one I'm interested in, but I'm unable to get the URL as an URL or String object.
