Migrating from Unity 7.0 to Unity Connection 8.5 on a new server.

Hello all.
I am currently in the process of migrating from Unity 7.0 on a windows platform to Unity Connection 8.5 on a new Linux server. I was unaware that UC 8.x runs on Linux so this caught me off guard.
Can someone offer any tips, guides, links, etc. that may help me out?
Also, TAC said the procedure should consist of running a COBRAS Export in Unity 7.0 and then a COBRAS Import on the Unity Connection 8.5 box. I know how to do this on the Windows Platform, but I'm unsure as how to do it via Linux.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James

Correct, you need to download it from the provided link.
Read the help file for information on what is imported and what is not.

There are also some good training videos from Jeff (the amazingly smart and improbably good looking) :-)

  • Move Database from 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.1 on NEW SERVER

Hello everyone and thank you in advance for any help ..
I need to Move Database from 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.1 on NEW SERVER
I am beginer in DBA Administration and I will try to explain my situation in my company.
    Well I have:
    - Two physical servers with Win 2008 R2 x64
    - Oracle Database 10.2.0.2 x86
    - The size of the database up to 10 GB
    - Replication is working on a script level with archivelog think i something like Data Guard or it is.. because I did not install this from begining.. I get this when I get job..
    - SSID VIZRTDB a schema PILOT
In my company I deal more with system and network administration, and there I began now to work around this part of the DBA I can say that I am already comfortable with oracle database.. but here I stumbled on a problem, so I do not know where to start and who to ask..
In a virtual environment I install the same as I have on physical server, only now I install Oracle 11.2.0.1 and Win 2008 R2 x64, and I made all the replication and which is identical to the production servers ..
The idea is to export the database to 10.2.0.2 from production server and then imports it into 11.2.0.1 and I have already tried but I have a lot of mistakes at the end of the importa .. I tried the classic Imort / Export, and I will try to Impdb / Expdb (Data Pump) .. a lot of mistake like some stuff already exist etc..
I think the question is what is best to do with the data pump or with some other tool to import database on new server 11.2.0.1? I mean what do you think is the best procedurally to do ..
Since the moment I have two physical servers and is really complicated to do any upgrades, etc..
Can I install on this two physical servers VMware Workstation software, and then on separate server I will have two virtual oracle databases so I can always move image and try upgrade, patch etc...
Does this create a problem around the base of the network that will be somewhat slower, response, etc? .. Because as you see I work in television and I dont really no day that I can say that they can shut down the base for more than 4 hours ..
    Thanks in advance.
    Greetings.

  • ? migrating from Logic 8 on PPC, to Logic 9.1 Mountain Lion, new Intel Mac

I'm migrating from a non-Intel Mac G5 PPC  with retail Logic Pro 7 installed and also the upgrade to Logic 8.
What is the best way to install Logic on my newly acquired July 2011 Quad-Core Mac Mini Server ( MMS ) ?
I have the original install disks for Logic Pro 7 retail and also the upgrade disks for Logic Studio 8 Upgrade Box retail.
Can I install Logic Pro 7 first onto the MMS and then install the Logic 8 disk and then install the Box set Logic Studio 9 upgrade ?

An important piece of information is required.
What version of OSX is on the 2011 Mac-Mini?
If it's Snow Leopard you're probably ok, if any version of Lion or ML is installed you're in for some work.

    Hi all,
I have an application which is compatable with WebSphere 5.1 or WebLogic 5.1 SP1 and i want to move it to SunOne Application Server 7.
the migration tool don't support these Versions, so can anyone tell me how to migrate or When the updated version of the Migrator Tool will be available?

  • If we are migrating from JRC to CR Java SDK, do we need RAS or any server

    Current situation
e already have lots of clients running our product. We are using JRC to show the reports. Reports are designed in Crystal Reports Designer and hosted in the J2EE application servers. No modification/updating of these reports are needed from the client side. No need to create either full or part of the reports on the fly.
Only thing we do on the report other than just calling the viewerSDK to view, is: we read the parameters from the (designed/hosted) report to do parameter prompting in our own custom JSP. We went to create our own JSP to prompt for report parameters, because, using JRC SDK, for some reason we were unable to get dynamic (drop-down) parameter showing the list of values. These dynamic parameters are list of values, user choose one. So these parameters are linked to a command with simple SQL like (select col1, col2 from table1).
    Current API ???
I think we have this free JRC SDK. We have a directory called crystalreportviewers115 in our product deployment plus some JARS like (CrystalReportEngine.jar, CrystalCommon.jar, CrystalCharting.jar, CrystalExporters.jar, CrystalExportingBase.jar, CrystalDatabaseConnectors.jar, CrystalFormulas.jar, CrystalQueryEngine.jar, CrystalReportingCommon.jar, rasapp.jar, rascore.jar, ReportViewer.jar, etc) in our appserver j2ee classpath.
    Now there are two choices:
    1. Let crystal report viewer handle itself the parameter prompting; Then, I do not know if it is possible with this free JRC SDK or anything else that is open source. If it is possible with some upgrading can you please let me know some tips to goahead.
    2. Finding a way to read the parameter details like the SQL command, etc, so that we can show it in our JSP. I do not know if we still need to upgrade to a different version of SDK.
I tried looking for a different or newer SDKs... It is confusing with  things CR for Eclipse, CR Java SDK, etc. Do not know which direction to go!!!
    Can someone guide me please.

CR Java SDK consists of JRC + Veiwers Java SDK.
CR Eclipse 2.0 is latest IDE in which CR 2008 features are integrated.
There are different set of JRCs for different versions of Crystal Reports. But for CR 2008 there is no separate JRC has been launched yet, instead CR4E 2.0 Java SDK has been launched which is free.
For more details about CR4E 2.0 please check out this link

  • HT4889 Am I wrong or does Migration Assistant not work in Mountain Lion (10.8.2) when migrating from a PowerPC running Tiger (10.4.11)? Apple really needs to get on the ball or face losing people buying their new desktop products.

The title alone speaks to my frustration about this issue.
Used the process that was recommended by Apple to migrate from my "Lampshade" iMac (PPC running 10.4.11) to the new iMac (Intel running 10.8.2) and I got bupkiss...
Just a spinning wheel (not beachball) and no drive recognized using Migration Assistant for both nor when using Target Mode on the iMac running 10.4.11 and Migration Assistant on the iMac running 10.8.2. Which is ironic, or more accurately oxymoronic, since the iMac in Target Mode (10.4.11) is recognized on the desktop of the iMac running 10.8.2 but not in the Migration Assistant. And before you can misdiagnose..it is not the Thunderbolt connection since I have the Apple recommended Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter and also used the Firewire 400 to 800 cable to expedite the transfer.
    On a personal note...
I'm not bashing Apple for this...they are "head and shoulders" above the competition in what they do but I've been burned a few times so I feel I can share a small bit of loyal customer advice...I understand your iOS and mobile products hold huge sway in company focus and market-share but I find it a tad unwise to slack on the desktop applications. I don't recall any app for the iPhone/iPad family being made on the iPhone/iPad...only from desktop applications if I recall correctly. And how can I clearly "Move my Mac even further ahead"  as your marketing states when I can't even migrate my files from my old Mac to my new one in a simple fashion as per your instructions?
I thank anyone in advance with an answer or even a workaround for this issue and please have a great day.

Migration from Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger to OS X Lion
Migration from Mac OS X v10.4 computers to OS X Lion over your Wi-Fi or a wired network is not supported. However, if both Macs are equipped with a FireWire port, you can use Target Disk Mode to transfer your data:
Verify that both Macs are equipped with a FireWire port. Note that different model Macs may have different FireWire connectors, which will require an appropriate cable, such as FireWire 400 to FireWire 800.
On the Mac you want to transfer data from, Restart, and immediately hold the T key.
Wait for the FireWire logo to appear on the screen.  If it does not, restart and try again.
Connect both Macs via the FireWire cable.
On the Mac you want to transfer data to, Open the Migration Assistant application.
Select the option "From another Mac, PC, Time Machine backup, or other disk" and click Continue.
Select the option "From a Time Machine backup or other disk" and click Continue.
Select your other Mac's volume, such as "Macintosh HD", from the list, and click Cont
EDIT: Actually I realize you did follow these directions and if your drive is seen on the new Mac it should work. You're entitled to free Apple support with the new purchase, I'd give them a call.

  • Complications migrating from Snow Leopard Server to Mountain Lion Server.

I'm migrating from Snow Leopard Server to Mountain Lion Server. The article "OS X Server: Upgrade and migration" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5381) says
"Make sure that any DNS or DHCP servers on which your server depends remain running during the upgrade"
This advice is reinforced by the details of the article "OS X Server: Steps to take before upgrading or migrating the Open Directory database" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5300).
As the server I'm migrating from provides these services it will need to be running during the migration process. This would seem to limit my options to doing the migration from a Time Machine backup (or, making a seperate clone of the server's drive and connecting it externally to the new box)
My main concern is the seemingly inevitable clash that is going to occur on the network as the new server takes on the roles of the old one - while it is still running.
What are my options here ?
This is my second attempt as on my first try I did the migration from the TM backup with the network down - and none of my local network users or their home directories were migrated, although the settings for the mount points were, but there were no actual directories where they pointed to!
Clear directions on how to procede would be VERY MUCH appreciated
    Thank you.

Moving from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion means first installing the client (non-Server) version of Mountain Lion and then install Server.app this means that for at least part of the process you will not be running DNS, DHCP or Open Directory.
If you are going to end up using the same DNS name and IP address after the change then an approach you could follow would be as follows.
    Destroy any Open Directory replicas
Archive your Open Directory Master (to make a backup)
Note down your DNS records in case they get messed up
Export via Workgroup Manager your users, and groups (you might not need this but better safe than sorry), make sure you do not include the diradmin account
Keep a full back of the server (you should always have backups)
Note down your DHCP server settings in case they get messed up
Note down any other service settings
    Install Mountain Lion
    Install Server.app
Install Workgroup Manager (extra free download)
    Run Server.app
Make sure settings for services are as much as possible the same as before
If your lucky that may be all you need to do, otherwise...
Restore Open Directory archive, if your lucky that will be all you need to do, otherwise...
    Make new Open Directory Master
    Run Workgroup Manager
Import users and groups you previously exported
You will then have to set passwords for each user as these are not preserved via Workgroup Manager export
When I did this, I was also being forced to change all my IP addresses so I had no choice but to use Workgroup Manager to export and import accounts.

  • DB quries wrt migration from oim 9.1 to oim 11g (11.1.1.5)

    Hi All,
We have to do migration from oim9.1 to oim 11g (11.1.1.5) with new DB and AppServers.
High level Steps are as follows
    1. import the existing OIm9.1 DB to new DB.
    2. Create Additional schemas (SOA,MDS) on new DB.
    3. Install OIm 11g and SOA applications on new servers
    4. Migrate new DB's OIm 9.1 Schema to support oim 11g (by running Oracle_IDM_Home/bin/ua.sh)
    5. Some other releated tasks (As mentioned in the upgrade guide)
    6. Migrate OIM application middlte tier
    7. Other tasks (As mentioned in the upgrade guide)
    Our requirement is
Step 1, we have to import DevDB data to new tempDB and will proceed with new tempDB for migration.
Then after, we wanted to import the tempDB to NewDevDB and then wanted to replace newDevDB data(which is imported from tempDB) with QA DB's data (its QA oim 9.1 DB). (We have limitations to take QADB at first time itself, thats why, we are taking Dev DBdata in step 1).
    My questions are
    1. What are the required changes required for Moving oim11g DB to another DB (by dumping the same DB).
    2. After, performing the migration, can we dump only the OIm 9.1 DBdata(QA) to OIm 11g DB? if yes, will it affect the oim 11g DB Schema.
Please suggest me, or do let me know, if you need any other information.
    Thanks.

I think, I can consider my Question #1 is as equal to Oracle Identity Manager Database Host and Port Changes, So I can use the steps mentioned in the link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e14308/handlinglcm.htm#CIAJBHHH (Section: 13.1.1 Oracle Identity Manager Database Host and Port Changes). Do we need to do any additional modification with in any configuration files? Please, can any one confirm it.
And Can any one help on my question #2.

    Hello,
If I try to add an Excel Access Web Part to a page I get the following:
**Note: This only happens with sites that were migrated from 2010 SharePoint to SharePoint 2013. If I create a new site the feature works like it should and loads the workbook. I've tested this on several sites, our environment is enterprise as well. Being

  • VCS\VCSE license migration from hardware to VM.

    Hi all,
I want to migrate my VCS\VCSE from hardware to virtual.
Both servers are covered by active maintenance contract.
How does licensing work in this case? What is the transfer procedure?
    Any cost involved?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Regarding Cisco VCS, in order to migrate from hardware to virtual machine, you will need to purchase a new license to make the transfer. These are the partnumbers you need:
    R-VMVCS-C-M-K9
For HW Migration to E-Delivery Virtual VCS Control Only
    R-VMVCS-E-M-K9
For HW Migration to E-Delivery Virtual VCS Expressway Only
Please, contact your Cisco representative to get further information.
After you purchase the license, the license rehost from appliance to VM will be made by a specific Cisco team, not the Global License Operation team, this is a different rehost process. You will have to send your request to [email protected], this team will provide all the instruction to rehost your VCS license properly.
    I hope this help.

  • Migrating from Cisco Unity Express to Cisco Unity Connection

    Hello,
We are going to migrate from Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6 to Cisco Unity Connection 9.1.2. Therefore, we need to migrate all mailboxes without data lost.
So, the questions are next: is it possible? Which tools we should use and what  steps we need to pass?
    Thanks,

Based on my experience of keeping the data (i.e. voicemails for users) it is really not worth it.
Because all these voicemails will add up the Mailbox Space and user will get unnecessary "mailbox full" warnings even though they may be deleted (it takes around 2 weeks to get rid of the deleted voicemails)
Hence, my recommendation would be to do a stare and compare for the most part and build all the Call Handlers etc, this will give you even better chance to get rid of all the unwanted stuff.

  • Migrating from BE5k to CUCM 9.1 and Unity Connection 9.1 (not BE6k)

    Hello,
We are starting to embark down the road of migrating from our BE5k system, to separated CUCM and Unity 9.1 systems on UCS Blades running ESXi.  I was wondering if there might be some documentation already existing on how we might accomplish this.  I have done upgrades in the past, and I'm sure there's a COP file or 3 that I need to install to make it all work properly.  I searched the Cisco site for such documents, but couldn't really find anything specific.
We'll also be migrating our Cisco Presence from the old MCS platform to the UCS ESXi setup as well.
    Thanks for the help.
    Cheers,
    Mark

    Thanks George,
That's the documentation for migrating to BE6k.  We are breaking away from the BE platform and doing full installs for CUCM and CUC.  Does the same article apply?
I suspected that the Presence would be that simple, but just wanted to make sure.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Migrating Unity 4.x to Unity Connection 8.5 - Keeping saved VM's and greetings?

    Hi All,
We have a business requirement to maintain all currently recorded voicemail greetings and saved messages.
We are migrating from Unity 4.x to a virtualised Unity Connection 8.5.
    My question,
Is it possible to export all saved messages and greetings from the old Unity Server and import them to the new Unity Connections Virtual Machine?
If this is possible, how is it done?
    Cheers
    Darren

You can't use COBRAS unless you're at 4.0(5) - so they'll have to upgrade if they want to go that route.
COBRAS does allow you to restore only messages into existing user accounts if you like (i.e. if you've already created users and don't want their other properties touched, just messages restored) - this is on the last page of the wizard - the option for "only restore voice messages for existing users".
There's no corresponding option for greetings - if you want to restore greetings you're going to get the other user properties (PIN, transfer strings, user input key assignments etc...) as well.

  • Migrating subscribers from Unity 4.2 to Unity 7.0

I am upgrading my Exchange 2003 environment to Exchange 2010. I have Unity 4.2 with about 340 subscribers integrated into Exchange 2003.
I have successfully installed Clean install of Unity 7.02.ES with Exchange 2010 in my lab according to the recently posted installation guide.
There are multiple tools available that I can use ie. DiRT, COBRAS and GSM.
I just need to know what is the recommended best practice to move my subscribers along with voice messages, greetings, etc.. from my Unity 4.2 running in parallel with my new Unity 7 in production after the migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.

My preference would be to go with COBRAS.  If you stand up both Unity systems in the same domain, you are going to use GSM in some
capacity (primarily it's a "move" operation that moves user objects from one system to the other and cleans up all the AD attributes).  You can still (and  is noted to do so in that scenario) do that as part of a COBRAS migration.  Where you gain from COBRAS is the seemless retention of user data, call handler data, and so forth.  Where you put in work (but still gain) in a COBRAS migration is that you still need to build out some configurations on the new 7.x server; however, in many cases I see this as an opportunity to avoid the "garbage in, garbage out".  You can actually think about your Subscriber Templates, Class of Service, and etc as opposed to, what often occurs, using the defaults.  If it were me, I'd go COBRAS.   I have a long presentation I can send you a link for on that.  In conjunction with COBRAS help (and Jeff Lindborg) frequenting the boards, there is a lot of support out there for you.  In addition, COBRAS is a TAC supported tool.  My 2 cents.
To answer your question about will GSM work with the new server being built with different service accounts - I would say you have to look at it differently.  For those service accounts, GSM won't be needed because they've only ever homed to that server.  However, for all of your users -  you'd still need GSM to clean up their associate with one system and associate them with the new.
