Migrating HD Express to MacPro

This is my first post to this forum, so forgive me if this topic has been covered previously (could not find answer in archive).
I have Final Cut Express HD running on a Powerbook G4. When I migrate this machine to my new MacPro, will FC Express HD still run properly?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry for not including that information. It is version 3.0

    Hello,
One way is to get & Install 10.6, then update it to 10.6.8.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

  • Migrating from G5 to MacPro

So my new MacPro just got delivered (yippee!) but I haven't had time to research (m)any of the issues I'm confronting in migrating from my 3-year old G5 to the new box.
Can the 10.4.7 OS I run my G5 with boot the MacPro? Could moving the SATA drive from one machine to the other actually work?
Are there any viable, external-port PCI-e eSATA host cards shipping that work with the MacPro? Even if they're only 2-port models?
I'm not alone out here, am I?

No, the OS which is on your G5 HD will not boot on your Mac Pro. But you can put it in your Mac Pro to transver data and aps. Also you can use the drive then for more space.
The sata drives in your G5 will work in your Mac Pro! But remember, the drivers in your G5 are Sata 150, and the one's in your Mac Pro are Sata 300. So the stock drive from apple will be faster then the drives in from your G5.
Short: They will work! The speed difference is not really that big.
If you want to have esata, then you dont need an extra controller. In the mac there are already two extra sata ports (near to the cd drive). You can connect an external pci bracket to that port, which allows you to use esata drives. Here is one:
    http://www.shopaddonics.com/mmSHOPADDONICS/Images/aasatab2-e.gif
You can also buy these brackets for 4 and 6 external connections. Lets say, if you have just one drive in your Mac Pro, then you can connect 5 esata drives. (3 normal sata connections, and the 2 extra sata connections)
If you still like to have a controller, then you have to wait some time. At this moment there are no good working esata controllers for the mac Pro. Because they do not support the EFI Boot system well.
    I hope this helped you.

  • Migrating Regular Expression from apache to Java1.4

Did any one out there migrate from apache regular expressions to the new Java regular expressions? Are the two compatible? How much work is it to do this? What are the pitfalls? Are there any resources on this topic?
    Thanks,

I did migrate some Jakarta regexp to java 1.4's. If ur old codes just used match() method to see if a string matches the pattern, then search/replace using any decent text edit could quickly migrate all of them. However, if you used lots of the Apache regexp's APIs, the fastest way is to write a wrap class for each class you used in the regexp pacakage, and use the new regexp package to implement all the Apach regexp APIs, then, the only thing you need to do is to replace the import statement to import those wrapper classes. I personally think this is the best and common way to migrate from an old API package to a new one.

  • Data migration @ Copy Express

    Hi guys,
I want to migrate the configurations, master data & definitions from the test database to the production database.
But I face issues with Copy Express during the migration.
During the copy process, CE hangs up or takes a long time and then gives an error.
I tried db to db and db to xml , no cure.
    Then , I updated the version of CE to 6.80.01.60 ,BUILD_DATE: 190607_111200
    Sap B1 version is  7.40.252 SP:00 PL:36
What could be the issue?  What is the best practise to migrate data to the final db ?
    What are the differences  b/n 2005 B SP:01 and  2005 B SP:00 version of B1 ?
How about the  B1 test tool? Will it  be helful for test run of db ?
    Thanks,
    Vijay

I went thru some treads related to issues with CE and seems like many faced similar kind of proplem with CE.
What is the most stable version of SAP B1 ?
I will upgrade my B1 & CE to that version and give a try.
Is there any SAP internal documnent for CE?
    Thanks,
    Vijay

Any suggestions migrating from a G4 1.8 gig processor 10.4.10 to a MacPro dual core intel xeon 3.0 gig. From the tests and trails I've been through today it looks like I have to install it's 10.4.8 from the disk and start fresh? Any way to get some functionality from the G4 without installing everything!??

  • TopLink 10 to 11 Migration issue: Expression.in behavior changes:

Probably old news to to the non-late adopters.
In TopLink 9 & 10 we sent in Vectors to . I'm having to change them all to arrays using the toArray method.
    Runtime error is:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.toplink.expressions.Expression.in(java/util/Vector;)Loracle/toplink/expressions/Expression;

    Hello,
Looks just like a casting issue, as Expression in method was changed to take a Collection instead of just a Vector:
    public Expression in(Collection theObjects)
I'm surprised you get the error, you may need to recompile with TL11 or cast to Collection.

  • Migrating Outlook Express on a PC to Mail on a new Mac

I have a PC with Outlook Express and a large e-mail account (POP).
I want to maintain this e-mail address with my local ISP but I need to figure out a way to get this mailbox into the new Mac.
If I can only get the messages themsleves I guess that would be ok but if there was a way to maintain all the folders created, etc that would be ideal.
    Any ideas?
Reading other posts somebody said something about utilizing an IMAP account to transfer everything but I'm not sure how to go about doing that.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Boan

Since you have a new Mac, you can create a .Mac trial account for free which is good for 60 days I believe.
A .Mac type account with Apple's Mail application is really an IMAP account and behaves in the same way.
When creating a .Mac account with the Mail.app, the default account type provided is .Mac but you can also select IMAP or POP as the account type.
You can create a .Mac account as an IMAP or POP account with a different email client on a Mac or Windows PC.
After creating your .Mac trial account as a .Mac or IMAP account with Mail on your Mac, you can create the account as an IMAP account with Outlook Express on your Windows PC.
After doing so, copy messages from the POP account's Inbox mailbox to .Mac account's Inbox mailbox and the same for the POP account's Sent mailbox to your .Mac account's Sent mailbox.
Launch Mail on your Mac and these messages will be available in your .Mac account's Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox.
Create two "On My Mac" location mailboxes in Mail - one for transferred Inbox messages and one for the transferred Sent messages.
Transfer these messages from your .Mac account's Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox to the appropriate user created "On My Mac" mailboxes which are stored locally on the hard drive. This process will save the transferred messages locally on the hard drive and remove the messages from the server at the same time.
A .Mac trail account has limited server storage space so if the Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox for this POP account in OE on your PC exceeds the server storage limit for a .Mac trail account, you must do this in stages and although this may sound involved, it really isn't and overall is probably the easiest and fastest way to do so.

  • MacPro with no airport card + airport express

Got an Ipad last week. Got an Airport Express this week. Tried to setup a wifi network since 2 days trough ADSL modem. Mac Pro as no Airport Card. Ethernet port 1 goes to modem. Ethernet port 2 goes to Airport Express. Successfully configure Airport Express from MacPro. Can see network from Ipad but no internet connection. The question is: Am I loosing my time? Is there a way to setup so that I can get internet on Ipad?
    Thanks.

Hey Bersan, I know it was a long time ago, but i'm trying to do exactly the same right now, but you did not post one information:
1* Enable Internet sharing from Ethernet 1 (PPP) to Ethernet 2 (Airport Express).
2* Manually configure IPv4 on Port 2 with address 192.168.2.1. Submask at 255.255.255.0 And the Router? What do i put???
3* In Airport Utility create a wireless network. Setup connect via Ethernet.
4* Share connection should be deactivate (bridge mode).
    5* Manually configure IPv4 in menu TCP/IP.
    IP:192.168.2.12
    Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
    Router:192.168.2.1
    DNS:192.168.2.1
You did not explain how to fill the "router" field on the Ethernet 2 form...
    Can you help me?
    Cheers!

  • How to create a link to base oracle olap express(ODBC DATA source Name)

    hello,
How can I create a datasource name, because I want to connect to Express base with Business Objects.
    thank you for your help

Express does not support ODBC access, it only supports a proprietary interface called SNAPI. There was a way to connect and pass data backwards and forwards using VB but that was about it. No ODBC connectivity.
If you want to access multi-dimensional data using Business Objects I would recommend upgrading from Express to Oracle OLAP 10gR2. There might be licensing issues here so I would talk to your Oracle account manager first because I am not sure customers can migrate from Express to Oracle OLAP for free.
Once you have moved your data from Express to OLAP 10gR2 (the steps to do this are all in the manual and it should be a painless process) then you can use a utility from Business Objects to create the required relational views over your OLAP cubes and dimensions. This will allow you to access your multi-dimensional data via BO's Webi client. I think the utility to create the views can be provided free of charge from BO, however, I think you need to have access to their support website to download it. But check with your BO account manager.
    Hope this helps

  • OWB and Oracle Express or other methods...

    Hi
Is it possible to connect Express DB directly from OWB and share some Objects
or import some structures via EIF-Files?
What's the best way to migrate from Express to "up-to-date" olap? We have little bit complicated structures with lot of permits (because of extern partners) and more hierarchies on dimesions (incl. time dimension) etc.
    thanks
    Jarek

    Mike,
Simply speaking, Express can be considered complementary to OWB. OWB helps you create/maintain a relational star-schema warehouse. Express can then be used to analyze the information in that warehouse using it's inherent on-line analytical processing (OLAP) capabilities.

  • Transferring 3 SQL databases from both SQL Express 2005 and Standard to a new physical server

I am trying to figure out the best method for transferring SQL 2005 databases from 2 different physical servers to a new server running windows server 2008 64bit.
I own a fully registered copy of Microsoft SQL 2005 32bit Standard Edition. However all of my SQL databases together are only 4GB in size thereby making 2008 SQL Express an option.
Here is the breakdown of the servers:
    1) (Old Server1) Windows 2003 Server 32bit - SQL Express 2005 32bit
    2) (Old Server2) Windows 2003 Server 32bit - SQL Server 2005 32bit Standard
    3) (New Server) Windows 2008 Server 64bit - (Not sure which version to install)
**The objective is to migrate 2 SQL databases from Old Server1 and 1 SQL database from Old Server 2 to the New Server. What version should I install on the new server??? Do I go with 2008 express or install the 2005 Standard Edition?
Pending your response to which version to install, what are the correct steps to migrate (which I have never done before) the databases from both of these servers to the new server?
I have researched this online and I think this particular situation is unique in that I am transferring from both SQL Express and Standard from 2 different physical servers to a 2008 server that is 64bit. I cannot find anything online that I feel confident
in trying. Please help me, as I have this migration deadline of this weekend. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,
You may choose between using backup/restore or using detach/attach methods to migrate the databases.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187858(v=sql.90).aspx
You can transfer logins using the following article.
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/918992
To decide if you migrate to Express Edition or to another edition, please review the features supported by each edition. For instance, Express Edition does not support jobs (SQL Server Agent is not available).

    Hope this helps.

  • Returning values to PL/SQL from OLAP function

We've recently migrated our express application into Oracle 9i. We need to call a function and return the value back to a PL/SQL procedure. I thought that DBMS_AW.execute would work, but the documentation and the actual code seem to differ. The documentation leads me to believe that there are two parameters to the execute procedure, one being the DML command, and the other being the output from the DML command. When I attempt to compile, I get an error as the DB thinks that only one parameter should be specified. Has anyone written any pl/sql that returns the values of an OLAP function?
    thanks in advance!
    btw, we are on 9.2.0.4.1

Thank you for pointing me at this package. I've now tried it, but am seeing some 'odd' behaviour. I am using the packages as such:
    lv_res := dbms_aw.eval_text('aw attach aw_ceis_imp;call f_comp_v');
when I review the results in lv_res, it echos the command that I sent 'aw attach aw_ceis_imp;call f_comp_v'. Are there any docs that show examples of using the dbms_aw.eval_text functions?
