  • OS-9 applications crash Tiger Classic, worked fine in Panther Classic

    Greetings,
I recently installed OS-X Tiger and upgraded to 10.4.10 incl. all security and Java updates. Some older OS-9 applications (e.g., Chessmaster 4000 and some of my own software I created years ago), which ran flawlesslyl in the Panther Classic environment, now crash Tiger Classic. In fact, even 10.4.10 gets screwed. E.g., empty ghost windows appear that cannot be removed or the upper Tiger menu bar is empty. Only a computer restart sometimes solves the problem, not the forced quit of Classic or an OS-X Finder relaunch.
When I rebooted from OS-X Panther again, I got told that there was a problem with the "new Classic". So I set preferences for a different, not updated (by OS-X Tiger) 0S-9 System folder - and my old applications ran flawlessly again.
Right now I have to switch between Tiger and Panther. Is there a workaround to have Tiger Classic run older OS-9 applications? Obviously, there is a problem with the "new" Classic.
Some OS-9 applications like Photoshop 5.5 run well in Tiger Classic. Therefore, I can rule out a general problem with my Classic environment. OS-X updates do not exist for some scientific software I use.
Thanks in advance for your advice,
    Dietmar
PS: Apple states that there is no firmware update required for a G4 Quicksilver Mac.

Update: I realized that Tiger's new Classic environment cannot handle OS-9 applications that require 256 or fewer display colors for operation. In fact, the new Classic environment will not even start up successfully, if 256 colors are set.
That is not correct. I run Classic under Tiger with 256 colours fairly often. I have one very, very, very old game (Harpoon Classic) which won't run unless the system is set to 256 colours. Every now and again I still play it. Classic works with 256 colours, and it also starts up with 256 colours.
Classic does this with my iMac, and with my eMac, under Tiger, and with my beige G3 under Jaguar. (Or at least it did the last time I ran Classic on the beige.) The eMac shipped with Panther; Classic ran with 256 colours there, too.
I suspect that you have a different problem.
    Which applications are you using?

  • Classic app changed to epma application without warning

    Hi!
I have an application which was initially created as classic planning application. (version 931)
Today when I opened this application I noticed that dimension members were not editable any more, which led me to think that application has "evolved" to an epma application.
I do not remember having upgraded application (have just checked if it was upgradeable, even today it is upgradeable???).
When I browse application library this application is not visible anywhere there. So it seeems that it is not an epma application, but it does not have the classic application features either.
Can I somewhere check whether this application is currenty classic or epma?
Is it possible to copy epma application to classic application using copy app (just wild question...) I think i already know the answer, but has anybody tried?
    kind regards,
    user637777

Have you eve used the EPMA file generator as I have seen it change the classic settings so it looks to be an EPMA application without warning.
You can revert it back go into the planning system tables.
First look in the HSPSYS_APPLICATION, note down the APP_ID for the planning app in question.
Next go into the table HSPSYS_PROPERTIES, look at column PROPERTY_NAME = EDIT_DIM_ENABLED for the ID you had in the step above, change the PROPERTY_VALUE from false to true.
    Restart Planning application service.
    Ok?
    Cheers

  • Error message: 'you can't open the application because the Classic environment is no longer supported'

I get the error message 'you can't open the application because the Classic environment is no longer supported', when will this issue be fixed? I need to use a program to analyse videos called 'J watcher' that is vital for my thesis. It worked in the last operating system but refuses to open in this one. When will this issue be fixed/what can I do about it?

Is there any way to fix this?
    Yes, but it's not easy.
I've only tested this on Snow Leopard, but I think it will work in Lion. You need to have Java installed, which it's not by default in Lion. Since I'm not using Lion myself, I can't tell you how to do that.
Download the Java/Mac version (1.0) of the application from JWatcher Downloads. You'll get a zip archive. Expand it. Now you have an application called "JWatcher_V1.0." This is only the installer. It won't run, because it has PowerPC-only version of the Java application stub.
Select the line of text below in your browser and copy it to the clipboard:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Resources/MacOS
In the Finder, select Go > Go to Folder... from the menu bar (this menu may be slightly different in Lion.) Paste the clipboard contents into the text box. You should now see a folder with two files in it, one of which is named "JavaApplicationStub." Leave that window open.
Now right-click on the icon of JWatcher_V1.0 and select "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu. A new Finder window opens. Open the folder called "MacOS". Inside that folder is a file also named "JWatcher_V1.0". Move it to the Trash. Drag the file JavaApplicationStub to where it was. Rename the file (it will be copied, not moved) JWatcher_V1.0. Close the Finder window.
Now double-click the installer. It should launch. Install the application wherever you choose. You're not done yet.
The installer creates a folder named, once again, "JWatcher_V1.0". Inside it is an application. That, too, is named "JWatcher_V1.0". Select it, and do exactly the same thing you did before with the installer: replace the binary inside with a copy of JavaApplicationStub.
You should now be able to run it.

  • Change application kind from "classic" to "universal"

    Hello,
I have an application (.app) that is currently listed as "classic" when I look at application kind in Get Info. How do I change this to "universal"?
Additional information: I've created a script to start up firefox in profile manager mode and saved it as a .app so I can put it in the dock but now when I click on it, Classic starts. I'm running FF3b4 on Tiger and here's the script:
    do shell script "/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -ProfileManager &> /de
    v/null &"

Save the script as a 'application bundle'. That will make it universal.

  • Can't open application because the Classic environment on longer supported

I created a droplet on my 2013 Macbook Pro and emailed it to My 2013 Macbook Air, both are running Maveriks. On the Air the app is locked and says "Can't open application because the Classic environment on longer supported"

Try: open the droplet in AppleScript Editor and re-save and email again (edit: right-click the droplet and select "Compress" as Frank suggested).

You only bought it four months ago, so it's still under warrantly.
Call Applecare or call your nearest Applestore to make an appointment. Tell them your mac has serious technical issues, describe them shortly.

  • Migrating a legacy VC6 application to Windows Store application

    Hi,
I have a legacy VC6 application. It is developed purely in C++ and MFC.
I need to run this on Windows RT tablet. What should I do?
Is it possible to migrate the old application to Windows Store application?
Also, what are the system specifications and tools required to develop the Windows Store application?

You will have to rewrite at least the UI portion of your application. Further changes depend on what system functionality you are using. The more of your code is dealing with system calls the more changes will be necessary.
So basically you will likely be able to reuse parts of the code implementing your business logic but everything dealing with file accesses or presentation will likely need to be reworked. There is no automated process to transform Applications from targeting
    Win32/MFC to WinRT.
As development tool I would suggest to use Visual Studio 2013 running on Windows 8.1.

  • Classic Scenario to Extended Classic Scenario

    Hi friends,
We have a requirement to migrate an existing SRM 5.0 solution from Classic to Extended Classic scenario.
Is there any best practices document available from SAP in this regard? Also what are the things that need to be taken care of in particular? It would be great if some one can share his/her practical experience.
       Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Pradip

    Hello
If it is Plan driven procurement involved, better to go for 'Classic' scenario. Extended classic scenario is best suited for self service procurement of indirect material.(of course both scenario are best for indirect material!)
Now Switching over to Classic ti Extended classic:
    1) Technical settings-->Define product categories for backend
Here source sys is ERP backend and the Target sys is SRM client
    2) Nu. ranges for Local P.Os
    3) In Cross application basic settings,  Activate extended Classing Scenario and Backend pur.grp responsible
    4) In Define Objects in Backend system(Pur.req, Resrv, P.O)
Ensure no entries are there. Since this step is not required for Extended classic
    5) BAdi need to be activated.
Before all these, ensure there is no pending documents/transactions exists. All need to be closed. No open purchase documents!
The best guide for ref. is by Shah Khan.

  • Difference in PO creation in Classic v/s Extended Classic

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me in details what is the difference in PO creation in Classic v/s extended classic scenario technically e.g. BAPI,FM etc?
What are the main settings which determine whether PO needs to be created in SRM(local PO) or backend ECC system?

Are you talking about IMG > SAP SRM > SRM Server > Sourcing > Define Sourcing for Product Categories?
    performance assistance help text below?****
    1.     Sourcing is never carried out
This is the default setting at delivery.
SAP Enterprise Buyer does not transfer any items to the purchaser's sourcing application.
    2.     Sourcing is always carried out
SAP Enterprise Buyer transfers each item to the purchaser's sourcing application.
    3.     Sourcing is carried out for items without a source of supply
SAP Enterprise Buyer transfers all requirements that have multiple sources of supply, of which none are assigned, to the purchaser's sourcing application. Once you have selected a source of supply in the shopping cart, the item does not go to the sourcing application and a PO is created.
    4.     Sourcing via automatic bid invitation for items without a source of supply
SAP Enterprise Buyer creates a bid invitation for all requirements that do not have a source of supply.
    5.     Automatic requirement grouping; sourcing for items without assigned source of supply
If a source of supply is assigned to a requirement, the report Automatic Grouping of Requirements for POs and Bid Invitations automatically attempts to create a PO from several requirements. If it is unable to do this, the requirement is displayed so that you can assign it manually in the sourcing application. Once you have assigned a source of supply, you can submit the requirement to the report.
    6.     Automatic requirement grouping; sourcing is never carried out
If a source of supply is assigned to a requirement, the report Automatic Grouping of Requirements for POs and Bid Invitations automatically attempts to create a PO from several requirements. If it unable to do this, the system creates an incomplete PO for the requirement.
    7.     Automatic grouping and creation of a bid invitation in the case of items without assigned source of supply
If a source of supply is not assigned, the report Automatic Grouping of Requirements for POs and Bid Invitations automatically attempts to create a bid invitation from several requirement items. If is unable to do so, this is recorded in the error log of the report.

  • Best way to load metadata to 11.1.2.1 applications from 9.3 applications

    1.For plannings applications
    2.For Essbase applications
    Edited by: 859699 on 2011-jul-20 12:47

Personally I would create a blank application on 11.1.2.1, then migrate the planning applications relational database from 9.3 to 11.1.2.1 and upgrade the app.
Then if it is only the metadata I would use the outline loader to extract all the dimension information to a flat file and delete the application or just keep the app in the new version.
    Cheers

  • Pass data from one web application to another web application

    Hi,
Please provide suggestion for following scenario:
Scenario: Basically the aim is to transfer large amount of data from one application to another and display JSP of second application.
User enteres data on a JSP of one web application. When he submits that data, another web application opens in new window and data from first application should be passed to this second web application. Another web application will display that data on its own JSP. User can perform whatever he wants on second application screen.
    Possible solutions:
    1) response.sendRedirect(): This makes GET request. But, there is large data to send. So, GET is not effective.
    2) forward(request, response): Can't use as I have to pass data to different application that is in another context.
    3) URLConnection: Here, I can make POST request and set attributes in HTTP request and make connection to another application. I can pass data using output stream. But, I can't display second application JSP to user even if I use input stream to read response. Because control will be ultimately in first application only.
Is there any othe method to achieve this or any of the above options extendable?
    Please give your inputs.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to migrate list data from one web application to another.
We can migrate list data programmatically, there are some articles for your reference.

  • Can I convert a Lookout application into a labview application?

We here are seriously thinkig to migrate to Labview. There is a complex application done with Lookout 6.0 that we want to convert to a labview application. Having the proper Labview, is there a way of compiling it, open and save, or convert the Lookout application into a Laview application?
Excuse my ignorance in this matter.
    Best regrads.
    Rudy
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Rudy,
First of all I hope you first question regarding lookout is solved. If so then mark my answer as solution.
For the next time, if you have other questions, which are not related to the one you started the thread of, then open a new thread!
And no, National Instruments don't has drivers for Non-NI Products, so LabVIEW has no driver for your motion card. Anyhow National Instruments has it's own Motion Hardware and Software (ni.com/motion).
And for LabVIEW and Linux just go to ni.com/linux, and you will find supported hardware/software and the linux derivates it works on.

  • A way to deploy an application to the Glassfish Application Server?

    Hi, there
My question is: Is there a way to deploy a JEE 5 application to the Glassfish Application Server (Sun Application Server 9)?
The fact is that I am developing a JEE5 Application with Eclipse 3.2M6 and as Application Server I am using the Sun´s Glassfish Ap Server. I Would like to migrate to JDeveloper so as to using all the tools JDeveloper offers for JSF Development, that are not offered by eclipse; but I do not want to change the application server because I like glassfish very much.
I also ask you, please send any answer to this subject to my own email.
Thanks in advance for your collaboration

You can package standard EAR and WAR file in JDeveloper, and then use the glassfish utilities or an Ant script to deploy those.
