Migrating MySQL Windows to Mac

Using the MySQL Migration Tool, I converted my MS SQL data to
MySQL on Windows. Now I need to move the data to MySQL on my Mac
(10.3.9).
Any idea how to do this?
Thanks.

When using the migrate tool to migrate from windows to mac, can you use ethernet to connect the computers to each other? In the Migration tool, I was only given the option of choosing the computer when it appeared on the same network, and didn't see an option to connect them to each other. Even though they're both connected to the same network with a wired connection, the migration is painfully slow.

Yes. The following quotation is from About Windows Migration Assistant
These are the preferred network connections, in order:
Use a CAT6-certified Ethernet cable that is in good condition to connect the Ethernet port of the PC directly to the Ethernet port of the Mac or Ethernet adaptor (USB or Thunderbolt). You shouldn't use an Ethernet cable that has any kinks in it or is missing connector tabs.
Use CAT6-certified Ethernet cables that are in good condition to connect the Mac and PC to your home network router/hub/switch. You shouldn't use an Ethernet cable that has any kinks in it or is missing connector tabs.
For wireless, use the fastest wireless signal possible (802.11n 5Ghz). Try to have the PC, Mac, and the wireless access point all in the same room close to each other.

  • PSE12: How do I migrate from Windows to Mac

    I bought
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Student and Teacher Edition
    and
Adobe Premiere Elements 12 Student and Teacher Edition
    for my daughter.
She has migrated from PC to Mac. How can I get the Mac versions of these softs?
From my downloading, I can only see Windows installers (exe and 7z files)

Contact Adobe to see if this is possible. There is no guarantee that any software is portable, and I feel the student edition may not be, but Adobe will have the final say.

  • Migrating from Windows to Mac, no loger have the Windows machine

    Hi All,
I have a two year old iPod that's pretty loaded. I originally had it set up with a Windows computer that I ripped all my CD's to. Since that point my Windows machine needed to be rebuilt so I lost all the iTunes stuff on it. I also recently got a MacBook Pro. Now I'd like to be able to use the iPod with the MacBook, but I don't want to have to reload everything onto it. So how can I take an iPod originally formatted for Windows and retrieve all the data so that when I plug it into the MacBook I won't lose everything. I don't mind if I have to wipe out the iPod and reformat it then reload the music. I just don't want to have to rip all my CD's again. If it's any help I do have a networked Windows machine available to help with this.
    Thanks,
    -Bruce

Macs can read Windows formatting so you should be able to connect your iPod without any bother. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Once you are connected change the update setting to manual so you can use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts for OSX
If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. The procedure is a bit involved but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    iPodRip Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    iPodAccess Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    PodUtil Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc. then if you wish it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Migration from Windows to Mac:

Hello, I recently moved from WIndows and is very new to the Mac and so am not very sure how this thing will work. I have seen several posts on migration but it assumes one thing: that my Itunes Library Folder and My Itunes Contents are all in one directory called Itunes Music.
AT the present time, my Itunes Library is in my C; drive in WIndows and my Itunes content is found in my H: external drive. I can't consolidate to my C: drive as it is relatively full already. Can I consolidate to my H; drive? does it mean that my Itunes Library folder will move to the H: Drive? I also have applications in which I assume is in the c: drive...can't seem to find it on my H drive.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Migrating from Windows to Mac

I am migrating Adobe Audition from a Windows machine to a Mac.
Is there any way of importing my Application Settings from a Windows based machine to a Mac?
The file is an XML and the Mac just will not even locate the file ..... let alone import it.
    Any assistance gratefully received.

Now, when I rip new CD's, I'll have music in two places, which is what I was trying to avoid.
If you use Max (the best ripper/encoder for OS X), you can specify exactly where your output files go, use any iTunes encoder, and have the files automatically added to your iTunes library without copying anything to your internal hard drive as long as the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" checkbox is unselected in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > General.

  • How do I migrate from windows to mac?

I purchased a Macbook and want to migrate Lightroom 5 from my windows PC to new MAC without having to repurchase Lightroom

Your LR license is cross-platform.   Download LR 5 from here Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1 and install it on your Mac (you'll need the license key you used to install LR on your Windows computer).  Then follow the steps here: How do I move Lightroom to a new computer? | The Lightroom Queen.

  • Migration from Window to Mac

    Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, but not to LR itself. I have used lightroom for several months (not an official version ) on my old windows laptop and I have quite a lot of images on the HDD of this laptop. Last week I bit the bullet and bought myself a brand new 27inch iMac which I immediately fell in love with and I wanted to get a clear conscience and registered for the official Lightroom software and licenses.
Now since this is my first iMac and I have had no experience with Apple in the past, I'm not sure how I can import the photo's from my laptop on the iMac. I want to keep all the edits I have made to those images of course.
When I installed the LR software on the iMac, it automatically created a new image catalog. Can I simply copy-paste the files from the laptop to the iMac?
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I don't want to loose months of editing by doing it wrong.
And I'm also sorry for using an illegal version of LR over the last few months. At least it made me realize what a great piece of software this is and it deserves to be paid for (and that clears my conscience at once )

You will need to move the catalog and preference files as well as your images. Aim to keep a standard hierarchy which will make it easier to re-link the photos with the edits in the database. For example if all your images are in sub-folder of Pictures, move the entire folder and sub-folders to Pictures on the Mac. You should then be able to simply re-link the root folder and everything else will follow automatically.

  • Problem while "migrating" from Windows to Mac OS X

Over the last few months my Macbook was damaged and in repair. At that time I used a Windows PC instead and it was no problem to keep on using my old iTunes library file after I added the file extension ".itl".
Now my Macbook is back and I wanted to open my iTunes library using Mac OS X, not expecting any bigger problem.
To my astonishment iTunes keeps on crashing, showing the following error message: "The program iTunes could not be opened. An unknown error occured (13001)" (translated liberately, as my system is set to German).
On both operating systems iTunes is running in the newest version. What could help solving my problem is the information that my iTunes Media folder including my iTunes library files are stored on an external harddrive formatted in HFS+.
Windows had writing access on this file system using the software "Macdrive" in version 9.
I already tried moving the library files to my desktop and opening them from there, also I tried to create a new library just for testing purposes on the same harddrive. Both tests failed with the same error message.
Windows is still able to open the library as it was before.
I searched for similar problems on the internet but couldn't find any help, so I hope that someone on here has any helping tips!

Finally figured out the problem on my own. My external hard drive was named <Mobile 2.5">. In this thread I read about others having a problem when their hdd was named in a comparable way (e.g. <storage for 21" iMac>).
I renamed my drive to <Mobile 2.5> and the problems are gone!

  • Problems migrating from windows to mac

I have an old windows computer with very little memory, so my ipod is currently synced with that computer although I manually manage it and have enabled disc use. Because of the low memory on my windows computer I have about 30 movies that are stored ONLY on my iPod (not in itunes). I am unable to copy them back to my computer to store them to back them up (i don't know why, i just tried clicking and dragging, is there a different way?).
I have a new macbook labtop to which i have downloaded some movies i have purchased. I authorized the new computer just fine, but i read that I cannot use my ipod with multiple computers if the operating systems are different. I just want to be able to use my ipod with my mac, but how do I do this without losing 100s of dollars worth of data on my ipod since i supposedly have the wipe the ipod clean i order to sync with the new computer and i don't have it backed up due to low memory on my old windows computer? Besides, how do I back it up so that it will run on a mac if all i have is a windows computer and a mac it won't sync with unless i wipe it clean?
thank you, im appologize if this is confusing, i would be happy to answer any clarifying questions

The iPod is a one way affair except for iTS purchases which can be moved back to an authorized computer. To prevent an iPod from syncing - on a Mac - hold down the 'option' + 'command/apple' key at the same time when plugging in the iPod - keep the keys down until the iPod shows in the Devices list in iTunes.
You can use a program such as Senuti or Pod Works to transfer your stuff back to your Mac.
When the Mac loads the iPod it creates folders and then puts the music files into those folders and scrambles the file name these folders and files are invisible. This could be a move to help make it more difficult to pirate tunes. As you have Disk Use enabled you can down load a variety of utility programs that will 'show invisibles' such as Tinker Tool (do a Google search)- once the invisibles are visible then you can see all the folders on the iPod (except for an iPod Touch). When you look in the folders you will see that there is gibberish and the file names make no sense - just drag a file into iTunes and iTunes will read the id3 tag and list it by that info in the iTunes window and will convert the file name back to something that you can understand on your HD.

  • Problems with migration from Windows to Mac

I recently purchased a new Macbook Pro and proceeded to move my Lightroom program and catalog to the new computer.  I have 77,000 digital image files stored on an external hard drive, so I placed my catalog on the external drive to make the move to the new machine.  I plugged the hard drive into the new laptop and wasn't pleased to see that my catalog seemed to work fine.  However, when I ran the 'find missing files' command the program identified over 22,000 images that couldn't be located.  When I manually went to point the catalog to the files' locations nothing happened.  Repeating the locate missing files command produced an error saying that the image couldn't be used because it was already linked.
I'm confused about what to do here..... about the only thing I can thing of now is to totally recreate the catalog, which would of course make me lose the work I've done for the last 9 months.
    Any suggestions?
    Dan

No Windows program will install on Macintosh (a very few products have
both Windows and Macintosh on one disk, but not here).
If you call Adobe you can buy a "crossgrade" for a reduced price. You
will need to upgrade to Acrobat 9.0 at the same time.

  • External Hard Drive - Migrating from Windows to MAC

    Hi -
Just bought myself an iMAC. I have an external hard drive connected to my XP laptop.
Can I read from and write to this drive?
Do I need to reformat the drive (and lose the files in the process)?
I checked the archives, but couldn't find any posting that directly asked this question. Apparently if the drive is FAT32 formatted, I shouldn't have any issues. What if it is not?
    Thanks

I was in the same situation as sunahag and the external drive worked fine...for awhile. One day it froze up the iMac so I disconnected the drive and rebooted the iMac. iMac works fine but haven't be able to get the external drive to work with the iMac again. When I connect the external it won't run (indicator which is normally green turns red). Still works with the Windows XP laptop.
Any suggestions, I still need to get more data off the external.
