Migrating OC2J 9i to 10g

Hi people,
I'm starting to migrate a system from 9i container to 10g, does anybody have some experience about it? Any problem that i can find? I'm using just the container, some ejbs, comunicating with oracle database, interchanging XML, a c++ client calling from outside, no more technology..
I'll post here any progress, i apreciate any sugestion or tip about this migrating.. i supose it will have no much problems...

You want to take a look at DBUA (database upgrade assistant). It's all in the documentation: Upgrading a Database.

    You will need to upgrade both your forms and youtr database.
    There is a defined path for the migration of the forms 3 -> 4 -> 6i -> 10g

  • Margin Issue(pdf) in migrating 6i report to 10g

    Hi,
    After I migrated the report from 6i to 10g, I found the report printing issue comes out. Every report printing is not same as 6i, move the data to left and top about half cm. I searched this forum, I got clue was i can add reports_add_hwmargin into registry, then I can add printer margin into the report. I found it works when i run the reprot from 10g builder. But when I generated it into pdf format through IDS then print out, the problem is still there. How can add printer margin into report with pdf format?
    My environment is
    app server 10g
    report 10g,
    windows xp
    Thanks in advance.

    Try a Compile All ( Ctrl - K ), then Ctrl - T.
    Not sure about XP, but in Vista, the 10g Builder and batch compiler will crash if a PLL Library is not available when the form is compiled.
    Make sure the PLL Library is available, and all its objects compile in the 10g setup.
    If that does not help, then try a semicolon-to-semicolon replace all, then save the fmb. Then restart the Forms Builder, and open the fmb again, and try compiling.
    Here is an old link describing the issue:

  • Custom Paper Size : Migrating from 6i to 10g report server engine

    Hi,
    pardon my bad english !!
    I'm studying to migrate form/reports 6i to 10G. In report 6i we have reports with custom paper size ("A5" format that is half of "A4", 15x21cm).
    In report server 6i environment (Win2000 server) we have done this configuration.
    - We configure printer; one input tray has "custom" format.
    - We create an OS user (es. CustRep);this user has a "default printer" that has input tray with "custom" format as default tray.
    - We create a new report server (es. CustRepSrv); this report server start as service with CustRep user credentials.
    - Every report (PDF format) generated and printed (destype=printer,desname="My Printer") with CustRepSrv report server get custom format as paper size and so fit with Custom tray definition on the printer.
    Can I do the same in report server 10G environment ??
    Thanks
    Andrea

    Hi All,
    We try to migrate a 8i database to 10g by using the exp and imp. All tables and data are already migrated by imp. During the imp, there are errors said the trigger compile with errors.
    When login to the em to check, I found these 2 errors.
    Line # = 2 Column # = 1 Error Text = PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    Line # = 2 Column # = 60 Error Text = PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    My trigger is a very simple one:
    BEGIN
    Select TB_COUNTER_SEQ.NEXTVAL INTO :NEW.INCREMENT_NUM FROM DUAL;
    END;
    And I'm sure the "TB_COUNER_SEQ" is there.
    Do I need to change anything on the trigger when migrating from 8i?
    In fact, besides this trigger, all other trigger imp to this schema are having the same error. The schema in the 10g is a newly created one, is there any special right I need to create grant to this new user?Grant the necessary privileges on the tables (and any other objects used, like sequences) directly to the owner of the triggers. Privileges granted to a role don't count in AUTHID OWNER stored procedures; the privileges have to be granted to the owner of the stored procedure (or to PUBLIC).
    It the error is occurring at position 60, then it looks like you don't have privileges on dual. Login as SYS and
    GRANT SELECT ON dual TO PUBLIC;You may need synonyms (perhaps public synonyms) for the objects, too.

    With "the browser opening a white page" do you mean that the Forms Java applet won't start at all or is it starting with a Forms with a white canvas without any items on it?
    If it is the first (Java not starting) there must be something wrong with your Forms setup. First try to run with the default setup without specifying a form. It should display test.fmx that it is included with the Forms setup. This Forms just tells you the setup succeeded and displays a single OK button

  • HTML generated by PLSQL not working when migrating from 9i to 10g

    Hello everybody,
    We migrated a 9i database (web+application server on Windows) to 10gR2 (web+application server on Linux). The database contains a package that dynamically generates HTML and JSP tags .
    Problem: the HTML code generated in 10g by the package is different by the HTML code generated in 9i. The package generating the html in 10g is identic, equal with the package generating html in 9i. We also receive a the following message error in 10g when loading the web page in 10g:
    " 'Style' is null or undefined". It seems there is a problem with the Style object.
    Anybody has seen something similar, because I am not very familiar with HTML and JSP.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you, Daniela.

    Thank you for your reply.
    Yes, it's done using MOD-PLSQL version 10.1.2.0.2.
    I did as you said: compared the 2 generated HTML files. It's not that it doesn't generate all tags. It generates all tags but some of them are different, that is it screws them up.
    Here it is some example code.
    For example, in 9i I have the following code:
    div id=div_plus_GENERALE style="cursor:hand; display:none;"
    <td> width=8 </td>
    <td id=butt align=left style="font-family:Verdana,Tahoma;
    font-size: 10px; font-weight: 400; color: '#ffffff';
    background-color: '';
    "onClick="if (butt_clicked) butt_clicked.style.cssText=restore_butt_style;
    butt_clicked=this; restore_butt_style=butt_off_lit;
    this.style.cssText=butt_on_lit;
    var x = document.getElementById('Freccia_' + freccia_old);
    x.style.display = 'none';
    Freccia_sitointer_anagrafica_anagrafica_cliente_punto.style.display='block';
    freccia_old='sitointer_anagrafica_anagrafica_cliente_punto';"
    onMouseOver="this.style.cssText=butt_on_lit;"
    onMouseOut="if (butt_clicked != this) this.style.cssText=butt_off_lit;">Anagrafica Fornitura</td></tr>
    <tr>
    <td height=2></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    In 10g the HTML code looks like this:
    div id=div_plus_GENERALE style="cursor:hand;"
    <td width=8> </td>
    <td align=left style="font-family:Verdana,Tahoma;
    font-size: 10px; font-weight: 400; color: '#ffffff';
    background-color: '';">
    <a href="sitointer.anagrafica.anagrafica_cliente_punto target="frameCenter"
    onClick="var x = document.getElementById('Freccia_' + freccia_old);
    x.Style.visibility='hidden';
    Freccia_sitointer_anagrafica_anagrafica_cliente_punto.Style.visibility='visible';
    freccia_old='sitointer_anagrafica_anagrafica_cliente_punto';"
    onMouseOver="this.style.cssText=butt_on_lit;"
    onMouseOut="if (butt_clicked != this) this.style.cssText=butt_off_lit;">Anagrafica Fornitura</a></td></tr>
    <tr>
    <td height=2></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    At this point I don't know what should I investigate next.
    Thank you very much.

  • Migrating discoverer queries from 10g to 11g

    We are thinking about upgrading Discoverer 10G to 11G. Is there any type of query migration process necessary? Or will the 10G queries run just fine in 11G?
    Thanks!

    They should run fine for the most part - perform the upgrade in test instance and then verify.

    RMAN>backup archivelog all;
    RMAN>backup current controlfile;

    Target side:
    Set proper parameters for 11g
    SQL>startup nomount;
    RMAN>connect target
    RMAN>set dbid=<source database id>
    RMAN>catalog start with '<rman backup file location';

    set newname for datafile 1 to '<target datafiles location with file name';
    restore database;
    switch datafile all;
    finished
    upto now it's success full when i am trying to recover
    RMAN>recover database;
    it is saying
    rman 00571
    rman 00569
    rman 00571
    rman 03002
    ora - 19698
    can you please suggest the solution for this.
    thanks a lot.

    I'm not sure what you're doing is supported.
    You are taking a 10g database and restore and recover it using 11g software.
    I think you are allowed to do that with 10g software only.

    We are migrating from 6i client server to 10g reports server and getting poor performance on various reports. Reports that work in seconds in 6i are taking much longer to run or even timing out.

  • Urgent Help--Mass Migration of Reports to 10g

    Hi All,
    We have about 350 reports that we want to migrate to 10g. Is there a way to migrate them all using a batch program or some tool instead of opening them one by one in the reports developer?
    PLEASE HELP URGENT.
    Thank a lot in advance.

    Okay, I see. The supported migration path from Reports 2.5 to 9i, is to first migrate to 6i & then to 9i/10g.
    Please check this Metalink Note 90026.1 "Migrating Reports V2.5 --> V3.0 --> V6.0"
    You might also be able to use rwconverter (in 6i I think the binary is called rwconv60) instead if Reports Builder:
    rwconverter userid=scott/tiger@oracle batch=yes
    source=<reportname> stype=rdffile DTYPE=REPFILE OVERWRITE=yes logfile=log.txt overwrite=yes
    You can write a batch-file to convert all of your 350 Reports.

  • URGENT - Migrating from 9i to 10g designer

    Hi All,
    I have installed new repository for Designer 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and
    I have started Migration from Designer 9i (9.0.2.80.10).
    I have error message from ckrau61 with cause:
    "No Designer Repository has been detected.
    Please check connection details and try again".
    I have checked TNSNAMES.ORA and haven't found any error. Other
    software works with old repository (9i) and i have checked the TNSNAMES.ORA on the server and not on the client ... Oracle is trying to build a db link and it is tested ok.
    The Migration from 9i is not supported in 10g?
    Help-me!!!!
    Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

    You do not have to install a new Repository and "migrate" your data to upgrade from Designer 9i to Designer 10g. You just install the 10g Designer client, connect to your existing 9i Repository and "upgrade" it to 10g.
    Please refer to the "Upgrading a Release 6i, 9i, or 10g Repository" section in the Repository Installation Guide for complete details.
