  • Unable to see Planning Classic Application Administration 11.1.1.3

    Hi Gurus,
I successfully installed full suit of Hyperion 11.1.1.3
When I go to workspace I can see Classic Application Administration for Consolidation, but I cannot see Classic Application Administration for Planning.
I re-configured planning as well but same result.
I am able to open EPMA dimension library, essbase and all rest of the products.
Does anybody have an idea why is it happening.
    Thanks..........

    Hi,
I got the solution. We need to re-configure web server under workspace and restart workspace & planning service.

  • Hyperion Planning Classic vs. BPMA 9.3

    Hi,
We are on Hyperion Planning 9.3 (including all latest patches). We are in the process of building a new Planning application. Currently we donot have an ETL tool and it doesnt seem we will get one for the next few months until our new Planning application is deployed into production. So in a nutshell we wont have an ETL to solve the below problem.
    I have used Planning Classic along with an ETL tool to build my meta-data in past implementations, and havent had a chance to use BPMA. Lately I have started getting aquinted with BPMA and understand some of its advantages. However, I still have a few specific questions;
    1. I know Planning Classic allows manual creation of members, does BPMA allow the same? Or does BPMA have to have flat file or interface table to create or add members? Our business users would be manually creating some members, or for instance change the start or end month of a 'Scenario'. So, does BPMA allow manual editing and pushing of meta-data?
    2. If an application is created via BPMA, they would have to interface via BPMA and not Planning Classic anymore. Is that true?
    3. I understand it is possible to convert a Planning Classic application into BPMA but "NOT" vice versa. Is this true?
    4. Finally, a more difficult question, a more specific question which kinda of dictates the choice for us.
My client would like individual departments do their respective budgeting (noting unusual there). However, most of these departments budget per 'Project' and more specifically like to budget based on 'Project Name' (which are unique and not generic) as opposed to 'Project Numbers' (there isnt a Project number standardization as such yet). The challenge is getting the 'Project Names' into Hyperion Planning (sadly it doesnt exist in ERP/GL yet because these are new projects).
So, though the Finance Team ultimately approves each department's budget, they would like each department be able to create their respective 'Project Names' in Hyperion Planning. And Planning capabilities like supporting detail, etc wouldnt work as they would like variance based on 'Project Names' and be able to slice-n-dice based on 'Project Names'.
Now if we had an ETL tool the above would have been simple, I would have just created an automation to say pick-up a file with 'Project Names' from a pre-determined folder location. However, because we donot have an ETL, I was wondering if BPMA could do the same, i.e., automatically pick-up a file from a folder and create members and refresh Hyperion Planning? Could the 'Batch Processing' in BPMA handle this?
    Appreciate all your responses...

    Hi,
First of all I wouldn't recommend using EPMA until version 11, 9.3.1 was riddled with issues.
To try and answer some of your questions
    1. You can manually maintain members in EPMA if you choose to do so, you need to push it down to planning/essbase if you do make changes.
    2. If the planning app is in EPMA mode then you can't edit/add/delete member information through the classic route, you can view. You still can design forms, task lists etc through planning web.
    3. It is possible but no you are not meant to.
Sounds like you could do with ODI it would make your life easier, are you sure you are not licensed to use it, you may be entitled to use it.
    Cheers

  • Difference between classic App and EPMA Appl

    hi,
I am very new to hfm...
So could you plz explain about what is difference between Classic Application and EPMA Application.
In which cases we will create these applications.
What is the uses of Both Applications?
How do we create EPMA Application? Usually which application is more flexible?
    Edited by: 809370 on Dec 6, 2010 5:24 AM

    Hi,
The basic difference is that you would be able to share dimensions across applications through EPMA.If you have a Planning application and a HFM app. and they both use a same dimension, then you don't need to create the dimension twice in EPMA. You can share the dimension across both applications. 'Dimension Library' enables youto do that.

  • Migrating planning Application EPMA to classic

    Hi Everyone,
I've already googled this question, but did not find any important information. So, can anyone help me on that ?
I've been requested to convert a Hyperion Planning app from EPMA structure to a Planning Classic.  I've already know that there is a wizard in workspcae where you can  convert from Classic to EPMA, but I'm not sure if is possible to convert it back to classic.
Is it possible using this wizard  or there is no way to do that ?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

There is no wizard to convert it back, in the planning system database, HSPSYS_PROPERTIES there is a property_name called EDIT_DIM_ENABLED, if it is in EPMA mode this is set to false, in classic it is set to true.
In that table the properties are per application so you need to find the application id = HSPSYS_APPLICATION and match match it to the property_id and this will give the info you need to change the value.
    Any changes require a restart.
Please note this does not remove it from EPMA you have to work out a process to remove that e.g. delete the app, recreate, etc
    Cheers

  • Hyperion Planning Classic or EPMA?

    Hi,
We are creating new Hyperion Planning applications (11.1.2.2.300) and it is time to decide if we should continue using Hyperion Planning Classic or move to
EPMA. We are already using Calculation Manager, but not Dimension and Application Library. Currently, we have DRM installed and we bring all Metadata
from DRM into Oracle tables. We are using ODI to load data/Metadata from Oracle tables to Hyperion Planning / Essbase. I heard that Hyperion Planning Classic may go way in near future. I'm not aware of any ODI KM for EPMA but I know that EPMA has improved a lot recently. Any advice or comments on either way will be great appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Caio

It is definitely not going away, if you take 11.1.2.3 there was lots of new functionality introduced for classic and not so much for EPMA, if you look at Oracle's cloud solution it is classic only as it runs on Linux and no windows which EPMA still requires.
If you are already using DRM and ODI ask yourself what benefit you will get from EPMA, if you feel you will gain from EPMA then try it out, it is long old debate classic vs EPMA which everybody has there owns views on so there is no definite right or wrong but I know from experience which one I prefer

  • Errors deploying Planning application to EPMA

    Hello,
We have successfully migrated our v4.02 planning application over to v11.1.1.1 and upgraded it successfully. However, we I attempt to to deploy the application witin EPMA the following errors are received:

Error : Attribute dimension "04a Copier Paper" is associated with 0 base dimensions or has 0 associations to the same base dimension.
I am currently reading the EPMA Admin documentation but i am not finding the resolution. Can anyone please give me some insight / direction.
    Thank you,
    Tony

    Hi,
To associate an attribute dimension with a dimension you will need to do this in EPMA.
Go to the application in EPMA and to the dimension library (you can right click the application > edit)
Right click the dimension you want to an attribute associated with > "Create Association" > Select Attribute from the property dropdown.
Select the attribute dimension from the dimension dropdown.
To associate an attribute member, click on a dimension member and in the property section you can click Attribute and select the member.
    Cheers

  • Upgrade/Migrate Planning application from 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3

I have installed 11.1.2.3 on Window 2008 R2 servers.  Our old environment is on  11.1.1.1 is still up and running on different server(windows 2003).  I have successfully completed the following:
    1.     All Hyperion products (HSS,BIPLUS,CALC MGR,EPMA,Planning,FDME installed successfully and everything working fine.
    2.     I am able migrate the all FR reports successfully(Export/Import method) and Yet to test the reports after application migration.
    3.     I created  Planning apps in the new system which is similar to old application , I can open the Planning Application Administrator via WorkSpace URL.
My question :1) Can i migrate Planning repository DB schema from SQL server 2005 to New application schema on SQL server 2008.
(There is any update required before and all the repository table of 11.1.2.3  similar to 11.1.1.1
                       2) How can i migrate the Business rules to  Calc manager(.i.e 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3)
                       3)How can i migrate the FDM application (.i.e 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3)
Please let me know if you need any further information.

First of all 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3 direct migration is not supported so if you have issue upgrading planning then unfortunately that may be the reason.
SQL Server 2005 to 2008 should be ok but if you are concerned then upgrade the sql server 2005 version to 11.1.2.3 then use LCM to change database versions.
Business Rules read the following support doc - "Hyperion Business Rules (HBR) to Calculation Manager Migration White Paper (Doc ID 1528121.1)"
    FDM - Upgrade utility.

  • LCM migration - Unable to see "Planning Dev Applications" Under "App group"

    ----- Situation ------
    * We have hyperion 11.1.1.3.24
    * Objective i- trying to perform a LCM file-migration from our DEV environment to UAT
    * DEV has only one PMA enabled Planning Application (“budget”), few FR reports & other related artifacts.
    ----- So far --------
    * Successfully Exported these 4 (Shared-services, EPMA, Planning & FR) from our DEV
    * Successfully IMPORTED first 2 (Shared services, EPMA).
    * Although the migration-Status shows failed in my case, noticed all the artifacts have been successfully Migrated. (Noticed Similar claims have reported in other posts as well.)
But, I am stuck on the Third Step, Planning Artifacts Imports. Since, I don’t see “Planning Dev Applications” Under “Application Group” (in shared-services console).
What Should I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
[do I have to create new Planning Application under the same name “Budget” in our UAT & start performing Import ? ]

Yes, you are correct. Thank you. I guess, either I am having some issues OR I am not doing something correct.
    So far -
Created a test Planning App in workspace & Deployed. I can see that Planning App under ==> Shared-Services/Default-Application-Group.
    Still Checking -
Tried to create a New Application Group (Under shared Services / Application Group) in our UAT. However, only getting the following options though.
    APS Servers
    Business Rules
    Default Application Group
    Essbase Studio Server
    Essbase:Database server
    Foundation
    Reporting Analysis
I need to create a New Planning Application Group (in our UAT). Still checking on how to create one.

  • With DRM should we prefer EPMA or Classic application

    Hi,
We have bought DRM and now are considering whether to build an EPMA or Classic application. Are there any specific benefits of EPMA application with DRM in place. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Just out of interest how are you going move the metadata from DRM to Planning.
Though to be honest if you are managing your hierarchies in DRM I wouldn't see much advantage to then push it into EPMA to manage the hierarchies for a second time.

  • How to migrating planning applications version 9.2.0 to 11.1.1.3 directly

    Hi All
    Please help.
Can be migrated Planning applications from version 9.2.0 to version 11.1.1.3 directly?
There is documentation that explains the process?
    Attentive to your comments
    Regards
    Pedro
    Edited by: user13040806 on 06-feb-2013 5:48

    Hi Pedro,
The quick way, assuming you are using Classic Planning Administration in 11.1.1.3 is to export the application schema and Essbase data & objects from the 9.2.0 environment and import into the new environment.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Migrate planning application without migrating Provisioning information

    Hi,
Is it possible to migrate just Planning application and other Hyperion objects without provisioning information. which we can assign as per new requirement.
will it work or need to migrate provisioning information first then we can change later as per our requirement.
This time MSAD Provider should connect with different host.
    Please advice.

I understand that planning application contain provisioning information of Planning application in shared services and should be migrated along with Planning.
    My question was:
Is it possible to migrate planning application only and then i should able to either re provisioning everything from scratch for migrated planning as we had bad experience with existing provisioning.
though i have seen some option of update/delete in CSSImport (importexport.properties)
    please advice.
