Migrating Service Manager to new machines Server 2008R2 - 2012R2

Hi
Does anyone have any recommendations for migrating Service Manager from Server + SQL 2008R2 to Server + SQL.
Currently have a 2 machine deployement (SCSM and a DataWarehouse server) both with SQL locally install on each host, and single management server.

Hi,
I would like to suggest you install an additional SCSM management server and uninstall the old SCSM management server.

  • Server 2003 SBS (with Exchange 2003) migrate to new machine Server 2012 Standard (with Exchange 2013)

    This is what I have:
    A very outdated machine running a small domain, SBS 2003 and Exchange - this is the ONLY server currently.
    This is what my boss ordered:
    A Dell R210 II machine with Server 2012 Standard (and I downloaded the trial for Exchange 2013).
    He wants the old server completely replaced and gone - with everything moved over (including Exchange) to the new machine. The main reason for the upgrade is that not all users can access email on their machines (Macs, new versions of Outlook, etc.)
    I have set up a new standalone server before but never migrated one - and I've found that going from SBS2003/Exchange2003 to Server2012/Exchange2013 is not simple in the least.
    I thought I could just set up the new server as a DC on the domain and have everything replicated to it from the source server. Then I could decommission the old server. I have been told that 1) I can't upgrade Exchange 2003 to 2013 and 2) that I shouldn't
    put Exchange on a DC. What do you do if you only have the one server?

  • Migrating ADFS 2.0 from win server 2008R2 to new Win 2008 R2 server

    Hi,
    I am planning to migrate ADFS 2.0 from a Win server 2008 r2 to a new win server 2008 r2. I have found instructions on how to export the config from the old server on https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj648429.aspx#BKMK_1 But I am struggling to
    get info on how to decomission the old server and import the configuration to the new server?
    Is there anyone who knows the procedure to do this?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    //Cris

    Method above won't work since you will lose the ADFS self signed certificates that way and included downtime.
    What I did several times at some very big customers (with 0 downtime):
    -Install ADFS on your new server and join it to the ADFS farm (your old ADFS server).
    -Depending if you use a load balanced setup: Switch the adfs DNS record to the new server OR include the new ADFS server in the loadbalancer and remove the old one from the loadbalancer config.
    -Promote the new ADFS server to the primairy server if you use WID instead of SQL.
    -You can now safely uninstall & remove the old server.

  • Data Migration Service Manager 2010 and 2012 database to SCSM 2012 R2

    I have search the web far and wide for a good answer to this question.  We are consolidating two separate instances of Service Manager (one is 2010 and the other is 2012).  We will being moving to a new Service Manager 2012 R2 instance.  We
    don't want to upgrade the older versions SCSM (i.e. 2010 and 2012) of the software installation do to various reasons.
    We want to export all open ticket from Service Manager 2010 and 2012, and import then into the new SCSM 2012 R2 database.  The best advice I can find is:
    Export the data into a CSV file and import into SCSM 2012 R2 DB through a connector. I think there maybe too many data dependencies to do that efficiently.
    I didn't find this, and I am hoping not to use this option which would be upgrade the two instances of SCSM 2010 and 2012 apps and DBs to 2012 R2, then some how transfer the data to the new SCSM 2012 R2 instance.
    I am not sure any of these idea would even work, but I don't want to ask a question without trying to workout some possibilities.
    Thanks,
    Jay...

    Hi,
    You may simply duplicate your SCSM 2010 environment and upgrade it to SCSM 2012

  • Migrated movie projects to new machine....

    Ok so I bought a new iMac and migrated all my iMovie projects. They play fine within iMovie itself but refuse to export either to iDVD or as a standalone film.
    Basically the export starts ok but usually hangs at a random point during the export and I get the beach ball of death until I force quit iMovie.
    All the projects were created in the older iMovie 9 and I'm currently using iMovie 11 that came with the new machine.
    I have tried verifying/repairing permissions and deleting the iMovie configuration. But nothing seems to work.

    Hello potvora
    You can archive off iMovie projects and final movies to your computer by following the steps in the article below.

  • Migrate from XP to new machine with Vista

    Could someone please describe how to do this?
    I have backed up the catalogue on an external drive, and installed LR onto the new machine.
    However,searching on here there is advice to copy the preview and thumbs files,which I cannot find.
    Also my presets etc, where should i copy them to? On the xp machine ther are in user name/app data/Lightroom
    o the new machine there is no lightroom folder in username/app data.
    Really confused please help!
    Phil

    Ok Guys (and gals)
    All seems to be well ;-)
    I made sure that my images were in the same directories..a little easier because the are on an external drive...however the drive was recognised as G and not H. So after some fiddling in the admin tools to rename it, all was ok.
    The thing that was puzzling me is that the directories in username/application data/lightroom (where the presets etc are stored in XP) have changed in Vista.
    As others said they are now User name/application data/Roaming/lightroom...but the files are not created until after you first launch LR.
    So I copied the previews folder and catalogue from My Pictures in XP to username/pictures in Vista, which seems to be the default location.
    Then clicking the catalogue file opens LR with that catalogue.
    There are no user presets as yet,but once LR has been started the file location is username/app data/roaming/lightroom/presets.
    Copy all the presets there.
    Then I went through the other files and ensured that I copied any other usefull info,such as preferences,metadata presets, export presets,from the existing folders into the new.
    All i had to do then was re set up my id plate, export presets and go through all the options to make sure all was well.
    The only issue is that I have one directory on my hard drive that is not recognised. Some images were on D,on a partitioned hard drive (C and D). Now I have one drive C.
    But the catalogue still has the folder and the previews so its no hastle just to browse to the new location to fix it.
    So yaaaay! Now just the ballache with Vista (I hope not)
    One final note...called LR tech support for help and was told an email would be sent with the full info what to do. After quite some hours no mail....another call revealed no case id and nothing recorded. Hmmmmm...
    Thanks all who replied and hope this helps others

  • Content migration from old to new database server

    There is thread upon thread upon question (as well as answer upon answer) of this already. I have 3 farms running concurrently. 1 production, 1 development and a new production (farm A, B and C respectively). Farm A's databases are on SQLa\SP while Farm
    B is on SQLb\Beta and Farm C on SQLb\SP. I've successfully copied the content database over from Farm A to Farm B & C without an issue. Farm A and C are identical except for server names (service accounts etc).
    What I'm trying to do now though is just a simple content refresh from FarmA to FarmC. Aside from shutting down FarmA and C, backing up & restoring the database again, is there another way to do this?

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is you want to find another way to change   farm A production environment to farm C production environment aside from shutting down FarmA and C, backing up & restoring the database .
    It  involves moving a farm.
    Moving a farm typically involves the following steps:
    Set up the new server farm
    Move the databases to the new server farm
    Shut down the old server farm
    So how to move the databases to the new server farm is the point. For moving all the databases, you can backup and restore. Another way is detaching and attaching as the thread states:
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/25215/the-best-practice-for-moving-content-database-between-two-farms
    But copying the files is also a dangerous option due to file locks etc, and you don't want to take down the farm just to copy the data.
    For more information, you can have a look at the blog:

  • Best Way To Migrate Local Accounts to new OD Server?

    Hello everybody, I'll keep this simple:
    I've got about 20 macs that have just joined themselves to my shiny new Open Directory (i.e. I bound each machine through the Directory Utility).
    What is the best way to migrate their local accounts to network accounts? Note that almost all of these macs are laptops that will be taken home from time to time. And of course, the less 'interruption' of normalcy, the better.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Evan

    I did something similar last year, migrating local accounts to network accounts after binding the machines to AD. I'm not sure how much what I did will differ for your particular case, but maybe this will point you in the right direction. Bear in mind, this sort of laborious, but it works well enough.
    In my particular case, the local accounts were named the same as the network accounts so I had to do some sleight of hand with the home folders to make sure nothing got deleted on accident.
    Log in as root (you could do this with an admin account, but root makes it much easier.)
    Move the local account home folder out of the /Users folder and to the root desktop for safekeeping.
    Go to User Account control panel and delete the user account.
    Log out of root and log back in as the network user.
    Log out of network user and log back in as root.
    Delete the new, default home folder in /Users and move the old one back.
    Use chown -R username /Users/username/ on the command line to give the new network account ownership of the old home folder.

  • Migrate Groupwise 2012 to new Windows server

    Could someone please tell me the quickest most efficient way of moving a Groupwise 2012 system from a Windows 2003 server to a new VM running Windows 2008 R2?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Laura.
    So the steps would be:
    1 - move my post office & domain directories using DBCopy
    2 - make changes in eDirectory
    3 - install agents on new server
    Is that the correct order? Am I missing anything?

    At the current time we have one Domino v7.0.4 server (Win2k with DUC v1.2.3) in production and our clients are running Notes v7.0.4 client with DUC v.1.2.3 installed on them. This setup has been working great in our Unity v5.0(1) environment. We are looking to migrate our users to a newly installed Domino v8.5.1 (Win 2008 x32 DUC v1.2.5) server in the near future but out test users are running into a problem.
    When a user gets migrated over to our new Domino server the client can no longer access their voicemail via TUI.  During the user migration process we do change the pointer in Unity to their mail file on the new Domino server. When the user logs in they receive "Your messages are available now"
    If we migrate the user back to the old v7.0.4 server they can access their voice mail with no issues.
    Any feedback you could provide would be great. Thanks!

    Hi Kenneth,
    Could you clarify what you mean by "During the user migration process we do change the pointer in Unity to their mail file on the new Domino server"? Typically when moving a user's mail file to a new Domino server, Unity should automatically pick up those changes. Are you pehaps creating a new mail file and pointing Domino to it instead of moving it? If that is the case, the new mail file would not have been DUCS enabled, a process it must go through before Unity will be able to access it properly. The only way to force that to happen would be to reimport the user into Unity. If the mail file is properly migrated, however, the mail file should remain DUCS enabled and there would be no need for this.
    An easy way to determine whether the user is DUCS enabled is using the DUT tool. It is located on the Unity server under \Commserver\Utilities\Domino\DUT. It will show you a list of all of your users. Compare the values you see in the UCProfile section for a working / non-migrated user to a failing one. You might also want to verify that it lists the updated mail server and mail file for the user.
    Also, while I don't think it would cause this particular problem, you should be aware that Server 2008 is not currently a supported platform for DUCS/CsServer 1.2.5, see page 6 in the admin guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/duc/admin/guide/cuducag.pdf
    Hope this helps,

  • System Cache Issues with Windows Server 2008R2

    Hi,
    I'm trying to deploy Java version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_14-b03) on a new Windows Server 2008R2 installation. I want to use the system cache feature and have used it successfully on Windows XP workstations and Windows 2003 servers in the past. I even got it to work on a test Win Server 2008R2 server earlier this week. But on my production machine I can't get the system cache to configure.
    I installed Java as usual and it installed into the Program Files(x86) directory. I copied my deployment files to the c:\windows\sun\java\deployment directory.
    Deployment.config contains:
    deployment.system.config=file\:/c\:/windows/sun/java/deployment/deployment.properties
    Deployment.properties contains:
    deployment.user.cachedir=C\:\\Program Files\\HCN
    deployment.user.cachedir.locked
    deployment.system.cachedir=C\:\\Program Files\\HCN
    deployment.javaws.shortcut="NEVER"
    deployment.javaws.autodownload="NEVER"
    Not sure what's missing here especially since it worked fine the other day.
    Both of these servers are virtual, VMware ESX 3.5 and were created from the same template. Only real difference is the production system will be a XenApp application server so it has XenApp installed.
    Error I'm getting is that in Javaws it reports that the system cache is not configured and every time I launch my application it has to download from the source because we are deleting the local profiles when the user logs out.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Linn

    >    I just wanted to know whether there will be any sort of communication or support issues between PROD and DEVE systems with such diverse configurations.
    No.
    You could even use HP-UX on the DEV system - as long as you're able to share a common directory to ensure transporting it's not a problem. Transports are OS and DB independent.
    However, memory management and security in Windows 2008 changed significantly, you may have to use different configurations for W2K8 vs. W2K3.

    Have you checked the Print Service log in event viewer?
    Here's How.
    I have the Microsoft XPS driver on my clients, so I use that fact to my advantage below.
    Click Start Button/Administrative Tools/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Services Manager on the RDSH server
    Click the Sessions tab.  PC’s are listed Under Client Name by their computer name.  Take Note of the corresponding
    ID.  We will use this to locate the Printer information in the Event Log.
    In the Event Log open Application and Services Logs/Microsoft/Windows/Print Service/Admin/ and Find the Event ID 823 entry that has the corresponding ID from the sessions tab you previously noted.
    This Event Log Entry is created at Logon and you can only get the session ID when they are logged in.
    This tells you what client printer was mapped for the client.  The name that appears is the name of the Printer that was set on the client when the printer was installed.
    See if you see any errors here.
    If you see Event Id 823 with the following message “The default printer was changed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer,winspool,Ne00:. See the event user data for context information.”  Twice in a row with no other messages in between, and the first occurs
    at the time the user logged in, then their printer was not properly redirected.
    You see the Microsoft XPS driver mapped for each session prior to Easy Print redirecting the client machine’s Default Printer.
    Since your printer is the HP 1020 I would bet the driver on the client does not work with Easyprint.  I would try the  the HP Universal Print Driver or the driver for a printer that is very close, like the HP 1018.
    Thanks,

  • How to call a web service that is managed by web services manager from omni

    Ok gurus... here is an interesting one for you.
    We have a set of web services that are deployed to our server. We have Oracle Web Services Manager deployed to another server and is acting as a gateway to our web services.
    We would like to call our web service and pass it the username and password that were specified in the omniportlet connection information screen. How do we go about doing this?
    PS. We are using the latest version of portal (10.1.4).
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,
    Cory

    Just a follow up. What I would like to do is to have omni portlet add standard header information for security such as the following:
    <soap:Header>
    <wsse:Security xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">
    <wsse:UsernameToken xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">
    <wsse:Username>theusername</wsse:Username>
    <wsse:Password>thepassword</wsse:Password>
    </wsse:UsernameToken>
    </wsse:Security>
    </soap:Header>
    Any ideas on how to get omniportlet do this? Any ideas on where to look for the answer? Oracle dudes: Any plans to add this to future releases?
    Thanks again folks :-)

  • Best way to Migrate Actions to a new PC

    I built a new Win 7 x64 PC for CS5.  I have Photoshop CS6 installed there.
    I have about 30 action sets on my CS4 machine that I want to migrate over to the new machine.  Is there a faster way than saving each set to a central location and loading them into CS5?
    I did a search for all *.ATN files on the CS4 machine and could not find them stored anywhere.  Is there a folder where they should be stored in CS4?  In lightroom, my develop presets are all stored in one place and I can simply right click and "show in explorer" to see where this is.  It is easy.  But how can I do this for Photoshop?

    Thank you.  If I understand this information correctly, then I should save each action set one at a time and that there is no way to save all action sets at once from within Photoshop or otherwise.
    I am saving them to a backup disk so that I can easily add them to other PC's later.  But by doing this, any changes that I apply to the actions would not be in my backup folder of actions.  This is not exactly ideal, but there are only a few sets of actions that I update frequently.
