Migrating TB from Win7 desktop to Win XP laptop

I have been using TB for a few months now on Win7. I now need to copy my mail folder to WinXP on my laptop for a road trip.
On my desktop I have TB configured to use a profile on a data partition and it works just fine.
I installed TB on my laptop and made it a mirror image of the desktop version. TB installed in the boot partition with the profile in the data partition.
I changed the profile.ini in the documents and settings folder to point to the the new data partition profile but every time I start TB it wants me to setup my accounts. It doesn't seem to get what in needs from the new profile. I tried several times and have read the info on moving the profile location but still does cannot make it work.
Am I missing something? I haven't tried manually adding each account back in but will if I can't get the copied profile to work. I made it work on Win7, why can't I get it to work on WinXP?
What am I missing?

#Copy the Name of your New Profile and Delete that Profile.
#Change the Old Profile Name with New Profile Name (Copied one)
#Copy that profile into thunderbird.
Still getting error, create a new profile and try this

  • I have installed FCE on my macbook and on my desktop. Then I accidentally migrated FCE from the desktop to the macbook. Now each time I launch FCE on the macbook it asks for the product serial number. How can I stop this happening?

I installed Final Cut Epxress 4 on my laptop and my macbook and then accidentally also migrated FCE from the desktop to the macbook. Now each time I launch FCE on the macbook it asks for the software serial number. I enter the number which is then rejetced as it's already been used twice. FCE launches anyway as the licence info had already been written to my hard drive when I first installed FCE. How can I stop it asking for the serial nmber every time I open FCE?

You need to uninstall FCE from you Macbook and then reinstall it.
If you are not familiar with the process, FCS Remover is an app that can uninstall FCE for you.

  • How can I switch my iTunes catalog from my desktop pc to my laptop?

I am retiring my desktop computer that has my iTunes music catalog. This is the pc that I sync my iPhone, iPod, and iPad.How can I delete this from the desktop computer and transfer it all on my laptop or possibly a different desktop? Is it possible to do this without losing what you have in your library, including purchased items and cds you've downloaded? Thank you.

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one.
You can do this across a network, but it may be better to use an external drive, particularly if you don't already have a backup strategy. Get yourself a portable USB powered drive big enough for your iTunes library, your other personal documents and data, and room for growth. Backup your library with this User Tip. Use the same technique to "restore" the backup to the new computer and then keep the backup up to date in future.
Deauthorise the old computer once you are certain that you no longer need to access protected content from it.

  • Move Lightroom from my desktop to my newer laptop

I have Lightroom version 1.4 and can not download version 4.3 to my XP desktop because I need Vista or better. How can I move my Lightroom from the desktop to my Windows Seven laptop?

If you have the disk, insert it and install it and see if it will run.
If not, download LR1.4 from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3892, install it and see if it will run.
You can upgrade to the latest LR4.3 from any previous version for US$79

  • Moving iTunes from a desktop pc to a laptop

Can anyone suggest the easiest way of me moving my iTunes library from my desktop pc to my new laptop without loosing the music on my iPod or my music in iTunes?

I had to do this about a year ago because I got a new laptop for college. What I did was create a back up of your itunes on the first computer (you can search for the itunes back up instructions on here...they were fairly simple for me to find). Then you load that back-up onto your 2nd computer. And the upside of this is that you have a back-up just in case your new computer crashes for some reason.
    good luck!

While I hope GarenT can assist you, I did want to mention that the heat issue is not - to my knowledge - a problem with one particular notebook, but more a problem with notebooks in general.  You have all the same stuff that you put in a desktop in a much smaller amount of space, often used on laps and in warm environments for long periods of time.  To keep your other notebook from having heat-related issues, please make sure to ALWAYS use a cooling pad with it, preferably with a gap between the bottom of your notebook and the fans from the cooling pad, with the fans on.

  • How can i transfer my music from my desktop itunes to my laptop itunes???

so i downloaded music on my lap top(macbook air)the itunes and i normally do it on my desktop witch is also a mac, but when i went to sync my new music onto my ipodtouch from my laptop it said it would erase all the music i already had so i cant have my new music on my ipod or els i would have 2 erase all the others... i feel cheated by itunes what a waste of money i bought that music for my ipod and now it wants to take music away from me

i just solved my own problem so what i did was i went to my email and emailed myself the music i bought on my laptop and went to my desktop got on my email there and opened the music files i sent myself and went to the upper bar and clicked "file"  and clicked on "open to" and there was a Itunes or quicktime so i clicked on "itunes" and then all my music went to my itunes then i synced it from there and got to keep all my old music to!!!

  • Merge two iTunes Libraries?  From Windows Desktop PC to Mac Laptop?

I have just bought a new Mac laptop and would like to move all my iTunes stuff over onto the laptop from my old Windows desktop PC. While this situation is problematic enough, I also happen to have some 100+ songs on the laptop that need to stay, so I'm wary of simply copying files over and overriding things. I don't want those songs, playcounts and playlists to be lost.
As far as transferring the data goes, unless networking these computers is best, I'd like to use an external harddrive. The external drive has always been used with Windows computers in the past - will that pose a problem?

Download and use this tool. The drive's format shouldn't be a problem.

  • I cannot transfer all of my i-tunes from my desktop PC to my laptop PC. Of about 800 tunes, it "cannot find" about 100. Where are they?

My itunes are stored on my desktop. When I move them to my laptop, about 100 of 900 tunes are "not found." Thus, I cannot upload them from my laptop to my i-pad.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then drag or copy — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Press return. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.
