Migrating the Knowledge Modules

Hi We are migrating Sunopsis to ODI.We have customised the knowledge modules in our project for specific scenarios. when we are Importing the knowledge modules from Sunopsis how they will behave. What are the primary steps we need to follow when we start working on. Any specifications for this to do. Please give me your inputs. If you have any docs please send ti across to me to [email protected]
Thanks in Advance for your Inputs.
Regards,
Mansur

Hello Mansur.
I have done that before and there is no secret. Just follow the Instalation guide steps and any, at times that I did it, there is no problem.
The KM's from Sunopsis are full compatible.
An attention point is to Rpository upgrades but it is described at Instalation Guide
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle-data-integrator/10.1.3/htdocs/1013_support.html#docs
Does it help you?

  • How to refresh ODI variable as part of a Knowledge Module?

    Hi,
    I want to know how can i refresh a ODI varaible in a knowledge module using oracle Technology. EX: i have created a variable called VAR_TEST in ODI.
    In one of the knowledge module steps, i want to refresh as mentioned below:
    begin
    select colname into #VAR_TEST from tablename;
    end;
    Many thanks ....

    Hi Martin,
    Put the query in the refresh tab into the variable, generate a scenario from the variable and call the scenario thru "OdiStartScen" (Sunopsis API technology) from KM.
    In this case the variable needs to be "Last Value"
    An alternative is to use a Java variable instead.... Works better to KM's.
    Does it help you?

  • Import Knowledge Modules in Synonym Mode

    Hi
    How can I import a knowledge module in synonym mode to ensure that IDs are preserved?
    I am performing a partial import/export from our Dev environment to our QA environment, following these steps:
    1. Export Models and import them in “Synonym Mode” in the new repository to preserve their IDs
    2. Export and Import new Knowledge Modules and Variables that have been created as part of this release
    3. Export new interfaces and import them in “Synonym Mode” in the new repository
    4. Export new packages and import them in “Synonym Mode”
    Cheers

    Hi,
    You need to perform the foolowing steps to import a KM in Synnym mode:
    1.Locate the Knowledge Module XML file on your file system and rename its prefix to “TRT_”
    instead of “KM_”
    2. Right-click on any Folder of your Project and select “Import…> Import Procedure..” menu
    3. Select “Synonym Mode INSERT_UPDATE”, go to the directory where your KM is stored on
    your file system and select your KM, then click OK.
    Hope that helps.

  • Are there any Oracle OLAP ODI Knowledge Modules for Oracle Olap 11g ?

    Hi guys, wasnt sure where to post this so I put it here and the ODI forum
    Does anybody know when Oracle OLAP Knowledge Modules, will be available for Oracle Olap 11g. It appears that the knowledge modules released with Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.5, currently only work with Oracle Olap 10g...
    If there is no timeline, does anybody know of work around to get ODI reverses working on Analytical Workspaces built in Oracle Olap 11g
    Thank you
    Richard

    Raise a service request with Oracle Support (Metalink) for your system slow issue. May be, they will recommend you the workarounds for the issues which are not yet available for 11g in the form of Patches.

  • Knowledge Modules for ODI- Oracle BAM Integration

    Could we please know who develops the Knowledge Modules for ODI- Oracle BAM Integration?
    Is there a separate team that develops these KMs?
    Learnt that ODI development team does not develop these KMs.

    BAM development team is responsible for the BAM ODI KMs.

  • Language used in Knowledge Module

    Hi all,
    Can you please tell me what is the language used in the code for all the knowledge modules
    reagrds,
    Sourav

    Hi Sourav,
    Basically Java.
    odiRef is the class and followed by the method with parameters.
    Example,
    <%=odiRef.getSession("SESS_NAME")%>
    Where,
    odiRef is the class.
    getSession is a method/fuction which accept one parameter "SESS_NAME".
    The <%= and %> is the tag which will be interpreted by Agent and converted in to SQL codes at run time.
    Thanks,
    Guru

  • Migrate the EJBs from JVM to OC4J...?

    We are plan to migrate the EJBs modules from Oracle8i JServer to OC4J.
    From now we have developed the EJBs by using JDeveloper as the following
    conditions;
    - JVM: Oracle8i JServer (8.1.6.3.0)
    - EJBs: Session Beans only
    - IDE tool: JDeveloper 3.2
    And now we wanna migrate or re-deploy to the OC4J. Is there any good
    suggestions or idea to do it? Also I wanna know sth to considerate...
    Thanks in advance for any advice

    It would be good for you to migrate to OC4J as performance in OC4J is a lot better. Here is a little migration writeup I had done sometime back. It is work in progress. Hope this helps.
    Migrating EJB components from Database EJB container to OC4J
    Author: Ashok Banerjee [[email protected]]
    Oracle recommends the new J2EE containers in Oracle9iAS (OC4J) for deploying J2EE components. The goal of this paper is to recommend ways to migrate existing EJB applications, from database EJB container, to OC4J.
    The database EJB container runs on the aurora session based Java Virtual Machine, whereas the new container runs on standard JDK (version 1.2.2 onward) .
    The database EJB container runs in a database session. The database is itself the middle tier, in such a configuration. Users therefore have a logically three tiered architecture, that runs physically on two tiers. The database serves as both the middle tier and the backend. In such situations users would use the "kprb" driver (used for requests made from within the database). No further authentication is needed if the backend database is the same as the middle tier. Users can also use one database as the middle tier and another database as the backend.
    In OC4J the middle tier does not require a database installation on the middle tier. This helps make the middle tier lightweight. OC4J is also seen to significantly faster than the EJB container inside the database. Since OC4J runs on regular JDK the user can run OC4J on the Java Virtual Machine which is best for his/her specific needs. OC4J however has a limitation in that does not support pure CORBA clients. Currently OC4J does not support RMI over IIOP either.
    To migrate existing EJB applications from inside the database to OC4J the set of changes is minimal.
    Code changes
    1. Change all references in the code and any configuration files using JDBC URLs from kprb driver to either thin or oci. "kprb" driver is only for applications running inside the database. The new OC4J runs outside the database and therefore it must use thin or oci driver.
    2. The database EJB container clientside JNDI lookups were like:
    env.put (Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "oracle.aurora.jndi");
    env.put (Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, user);
    env.put (Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
    env.put (Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, ServiceCtx.NON_SSL_LOGIN);
    Context ic = new InitialContext (env);
    while in OC4J container the lookup code should read:
    env.setProperty("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
    env.setProperty("java.naming.provider.url","ormi://localhost");
    env.setProperty("java.naming.security.principal","username");
    env.setProperty("java.naming.security.credentials","password");
    Context ic = new InitialContext (env);
    3) Remove all references to oracle.aurora.* classes - they will not work with OC4J. These classes are specific to the container in the database.
    4) Check for client demarcation of Bean Managed Transactions and remember that transaction in OC4J cannot be propagated across tiers. In other words client demarcated transaction will work provided the client is another EJB or a servlet in the same OC4J instance. This is also listed in the "Current Limitations" section.
    Build changes
    1. For EJB in the database we use loadjava to load classes into the database - this step is not necessary any longer for middle tier EJBs. The user merely needs to ensure that the classes are in the classpath.
    2. Similarly the concept of resolver specification in the database EJB container ceases to be useful in OC4J. To make classes "findable" the user sets the classpath. In OC4J any jars in the $OC4J_HOME/lib directory are on the server side classpath of the application classloader. The user can also include classes in their own ear files before they deploy the ear. [If you do not know about the resolver specification, then you have not used it and do not need to know about it].
    3. The database J2EE container did not have support for .ear files. The OC4J container supports J2EE standard .ear files. Both makefiles and ANT files are available in the code samples on OTN which show how to build ear files and also provides samples for the structure of the EAR files.
    EAR File contains META-INF/application.xml
    META-INF/orion-application.xml [optional]
    applicationEjb.jar
    applicationweb.war
    applicationEjb.jar contains
    META-INF/ejb-jar.xml
    META-INF/orion-ejb-jar.xml
    EJB classes
    applicationWeb.war contains
    WEB-INF/web.xml
    WEB-INF/orion-web.xml
    WEB-INF/lib/jar files needed
    WEB-INF/classes class files needed for JSP servlets
    For further information on how to write the xml files etc. please refer to their respective DTDs.
    Both web.xml and ejb-jar.xml should be unaffected by the migration.
    4. The deployejb tool used to deploy EJB to the database has been deprecated. In OC4J EJBs are deployed as shown below:
    % java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost:<rmi-port> userName password -deploy -file ejbdemo.ear -deploymentName jndiName
    5. The ApplicationClientContainer does not need aurora_client.jar in the classpath instead it needs oc4j.jar in the classpath.
    Configuration Changes:
    1. In the database EJB container the configurations exist in database tables but in OC4J the configuration exists in industry standard XML files. By default these files are located at $OC4J_HOME/config directory. Users can start their OC4J instance with a different configuration using the -config switch to specify a different server.xml file.
    %java -jar oc4j.jar -config config1/server1.xml
    2. In the database EJB container scalability was achieved using the MTS architecture and session based Java Virtual Machine. In OC4J scalability is achieved by clustering and using the loadbalancer. For more details on loadbalancer please read <link to loadbalancer.doc>
    3. The bindds tool used to bind data-sources to the JNDI namespace of the database EJB container is deprecated. In OC4J datasources are bound to the the namespace using the data-sources.xml in $OC4J_HOME/config. Non oracle data-sources can also be bound to the namespace. A typical entry in data-sources.xml could look like:
    <data-source
    class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
    name="OracleDS"
    location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
    xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
    ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
    connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    username="scott"
    password="tiger"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@dlsun1688:5521:jis2"
    inactivity-timeout="30"
    />
    4. Database EJB container used database authentication (database roles and database users) to authenticate users to the middle tier. OC4J uses principals.xml file to list groups and users and perform authentication. One can also implement UserManagers for OC4J to perform more complex authentication.
    5. The ports used by OC4J for RMI, JMS and HTTP are all specified in rmi.xml, jms.xml, web-site.xml.
    6. Both OC4J and the database container SSL (client authentication as well as server authentication).
    7. The database EJB container could only be remotely debugged using a jdb like interface by starting a debugagent on the server, and a debugproxy on the client. OC4J containers on the other hand run on JDK and can be debugged with any debugger. This is very useful for debugging EJB/Servlet application running in the server.
    8. The database EJB container comes with a database and hence has AQ (Advanced Queue) available for JMS. With OC4J there is a default in memory JMS implementation. OC4J server program can also connect to other JMS implementations(including AQ) using jms.xml. However a JNDI context may need to be implemented for AQ.
    Current Limitations
    1. The OC4J container at present does not support 2 phase commit.
    2. The OC4J container at present does not support transaction context propagation across tiers. Hence client demarcated transactions are not supported in OC4J except where the client demarcating the transaction is in the same container, for example an EJB having its transaction demarcated by another EJB or servlet, in the same container.
    3. In the classic container Oracle did not support RMI-IIOP tunneling through HTTP however in OC4J RMI over HTTP is supported.

  • What is the basci knowledge for learning the APO module

    hai
    im a BW-consultant. im planning to learn the APO-module . So what i the prequistie to learn the APO module.
    pls let me know
    kumar

    as a BW consultant DP is a good place to start since the Admin workbench (or BW workbench as it is called now) will be an area you will be confident with
    in additon, you will need to get some extra business process knowledge on Sales and Operations Planning, Forecasting Algoritms, Planning area and Planning Book design concepts,various tools and transactions for Data processing in planning area, Using Macros etc to just name a few.
    Look for the SAP education website for topics if you eventually plan to get certified.
    the help.sap.com list of topics for DP is a good place to start.
    the wiki that siva has already linked is a good resource. Also searching for posts here if you have doubts will help and also feel free to ask questions.

  • Custom IKM Knowledge Modules are not working with Group By Clause

    Hi All,
       I am facing an issue with custom IKM knowledge modules. Those are IKM Sql Incremental Update and IKM Sql Control Append.
    My Scenario is
    1. Created an interface with table on source and temporary datastore with some columns in target.
    2. In the Interface on the target i defined one column as UD1 and other column as UD2  for which group by to be implemented .
    3. Customized  IKM Sql Incremental Update  with " Group by " by making  modification in my IKM Sql Incremental Update
    detail step "Insert flow into I$ table"  i.e., i replaced like this whereever i find this <%=odiRef.getGrpBy()%> API
    Group By
    <%=snpRef.getColList("","[EXPRESSION]","","","UD1")%>,
    <%=snpRef.getColList("","[EXPRESSION]","","","UD2")%>
    Up to UD5.
    . Here in the place of [EXPRESSION] i passed column names for UD1 similarly other column name for [EXPRESSION] of UD2.
    4.Made all the proper mappings and also selected the KM's needed for that interface like CKM Sql ,IKM Sql Incremental Update.
    5. Executed the Interface with global context.
    Error i am getting in this case is :
    Caused By: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression
      at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CTTIoer.processError(T4CTTIoer.java:462)

    Here the columns in the select clause are there in Group By also.
    I did the same scenario using IKM Sql to file append .In that case i am able to do it. But not with the above mentioned KM's. Please let me know if any one know it or tried with this, as it is
    high priority for me.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks,
    keerthi

    Hi Keerthi,
    If your are transfering data from Oracle to Oracle (I means source is oracle Db and target is also oracle DB) then use below KM's and group by will come automatically based on the key values you selected on interface target datastore
    1) CKM Oracle
    2) LKM Oracle to Oracle (DBLINK)
    3) IKM Oracle Incremental Update (MERGE)
    Hope this will helps to resolve your issue

  • Error targeting server for the EJB module while deploying the sample banking application

    I am currently having a very difficult time attempting to deploy the
    example banking application that I downloaded from the BEA website. I
    have followed all of the steps in the "Hands On: Deploying the Sample
    Banking Application" document, and I do fine until I get to the next to
    last step. When I attempt to target the server for the EJB module, the
    deployment process generates the error that I have included at the end
    of this message.
    I can get to the login.html page under "http://localhost:7001/banking/",

    Any suggestions. BTW, in case you haven't figured it out, I'm brand new
    to BEA WebLogic server.

  • Need help in creating Knowledge module to aggregrate source data.

    Hi Guys,
    I am new to ODI and I am trying to create a Knowledge module. I went through the docs relating to Knowledge modules and APIs, so hopefully did my home work, I still find writing KM to be very challenging for the scenario, I have.
    The following is my scenario.
    I have two tables Employee and Department. Employee is the source and Department is the target. I need to sum salaries of all the employees belonging to a given department. And then insert the data into Department table.
    Structure of the tables is as follows:
    Employee(Source Table name)
    Employee_id
    Salary
    Dept_id
    Department(Target table name)
    id
    total_salary
    Both target and source are on the same server. The user of this KM would drag and drop both source and target tables into interface and then map the columns. In the above case, Dept_id to id and salary to total_salary and then use this IKM. And off-course the user would indicate what columns would be aggregated on and what would be used as group by. One way to tag that, would be to use those UD1,UD2 tags in target column properties. (If there is another way to tag a column to indicate a column to be used for aggregation and a given column to be used in group by during run time in source, please let me know)
    I choose to write IKM for this.
    The challenging part is that I am having hard time figuring out the columns of source table as to what column should be used as group by and what column to be aggregated on. Since the tags are defined on Target columns and not on source columns. So have to figure out the appropriate columns through the mapping at run time.
    The following is what I am planning to write in (Insert new rows ) command. And the part where I need help is how to compose select statement.
    iinsert into <%=odiRef.getTable("L","TARG_NAME","A")%>
    <%=odiRef.getColList("", "[COL_NAME]", ",\n\t", "", "((INS and !TRG) and REW)")%>
    <%=odiRef.getColList(",", "[COL_NAME]", ",\n\t", "", "((INS and TRG) and REW)")%>
    Select
    source.column1,sum(source.column2) from <%=odiRef.getFrom()%> GROUP BY source.column1
    Thanks.

    I did try as per your advise.
    Filter is not making a difference. Irrespective of me adding a filter or not, ODI generates a sql that has GROUP BY , just by looking at SUM(SALARY).
    Coming back to the main issue, this does do what I wanted to do. I was planning on using a custom KM. But I guess, this is as good as custom KM, since the work done in an interface (assuming a custom KM exists) by going through either route is the same, so I can live with this approach.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Where can I find the equivalent tools in Photoshop that are in the develop module of Lightroom

    Friends:
    Where can I find the equivalent tools in Photoshop that are in the develop module of Lightroom?  For example I would like to use the shadow, clarity, lens correction and such tools but cannot find them in Photoshop.
    Thanks amigos
    Migs

    The obvious or not so obvious first. Depending on your knowledge. When you open a tiff, jpg, or camera' raw format they can be opened in Adobe Camera raw first which has identicle controls to lightroom's develop module.
    Starting with I beleive CS5 maybe 4, some of the tools made their way into photoshop it self. Take a look at the camera lens filter, the Image>Adjustment menu or the adjustment layers which now support vibrance for example.

  • An error occurred in the privileges module... appleshare IP share disk

    Machine:
    G4 Mini Tower (Graphite)
    Mac OS 9.2
    AppleShare IP 6.3
    This machine whilst dated has been hosting our files for years without issue.
    The files we share across the network are on a FireWire disk. We had to replace the disk with a newer version, of exactly the same size (250gb) but if the machine is rebooted, the FILE SERVER blinks indefinately and no volumes are shared.
    If the machine is booted without the FireWire volume mounted, the FILE SERVER starts within a matter of seconds. I can then mount the Firewire volume fine. When I lanch Privileges and navigate to the FireWire volume and select Choose, I get the error:
    An error occurred in the Privileges module in entry point "RACMMenu Item Selected". A programmer error has occurred. -50
    I have read an article in the knowledge base - but this only refers to using OS9 in Classic mode. I can confirm that we are not using OSX just OS9.2 and AppleShare IP 6.3
    Any suggestions would be welcomed!
    Thanks

    When File Sharing starts up on a "regular" Mac OS 9 system that does not generally have File Sharing turned on, the disk being shared chugs away for several minutes building the invisible file with the privileges in it before finally acknowledging that File Sharing is ON.
    One possibility is that you may not be waiting long enough. (Long enough may be overnight on a really big Volume with a FireWire interface.)
    -50 paramErr Error in user parameter list
    so I expect it is what it says -- the programmer made an error in a procedure call and you are the first one to find it.

  • How do we migrate the OWB mapping from one server to another server?

    Here is my situation.
    Source server
    ================
    Project name : SOURCEOWB
    Under this project, we have two module(MBTSOURCE, MBTTARGET).
    In connection explorer, the locations are DW_MBT_SR, DW_MBT_TR.
    We have 15 mappings on this project.
    Source schema name is TXMBT_DW.
    Target schema name is MBTTX_DW.
    I want to migrate the whole thing to new server.
    Here are the info about target location. After migrating to new server, i need to rename
    as below.
    Project name : CA_SOURCEOWB
    Under this project, we have two module(CA_MBTSOURCE, CA_MBTTARGET).
    In connection explorer, the locations are CA_DW_MBT_SR, CA_DW_MBT_TR.
    Source schema name is CA_TXMBT_DW
    Target schema name is CA_MBTTX_DW
    Here are my steps i followed.
    ===============================
    1. Created the source and target schemas in new machine.
    2. Create a new workspace
    3. Export the mapping with dependent objects from source server and imported in new server.
    4. changed the source and target location successfully.
    5. Renamed the project namd, module names as i needed successfully.
    But only issue is, i am not table to change the location name.
    Again, i tried the below steps.
    1. uninstall the workspace and create the workspace
    2. create source and target locations as i needed(CA_DW_MBT_SR,CA_DW_MBT_TR).
    3. import only mapping
    4. Able to register the mapping
    Here i am not able to configure the module for newly created locations.
    I right clicked on module and click Configure, go to Stream Administrator and not able to find
    the source and target locations over there.....
    How do we resolve this?
    My data warehouse is runing for each state. I want to copy one state mapping and import into
    another state and customize the mapping. I have hard time to change the location name. Because,
    location name has state code. I can not use the same location name for all other state.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Hello Oleg, Thanks for your input.. It helps... but the problem is not completly solved.
    let me explain my whole steps. Plesae review and let me know if i missed anything.
    1. Created new workspace. the workspace is successfully created.
    2. Login to new workspace.
    3. Go to Locations, create source location(entered host name,username, password etc)
    4. Created target location(entered host name,username, password etc), go to db connector on target location, created new db connector and linked the source location here.
    5. Exported mapping and import into new workspace.(I can not use the location name in the exported workspace).
    6. Renamed the project name, module name as i needed.
    7. Double click the module name under Oracle and changed the meta data location and data locations.
    8. Right click on soure and target module and click configure, change the the location and streams administrator.
    9. Right click on mapping and go to configure, go to table operators and change the location as i need.
    10.Right click on target module(under oracle), click generate. On this step, i get the below error
    VLD-1141: Internal error during mapping generation.
    Java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsExeception
    11. Go to control center, register the source and targert and followed the step 10. I get the same error.
    I am almost close to complete this task. But i got stuck in the last step.
