I Have just bought a new Mac Pro and after migrating the information from my old Mac pro photoshop and other Adobe software are not loading
HHow do I fix this problem?
Try uninstalling the programs from the old Mac and installing them on the new Mac

I have just completed a lengthy migration of all my files from an old Mac Book Pro to my new Mac Book Pro and I find that none of my files on my desktop have been transferred. Open the Users folder, drag the migrated home folder to the desktop, provide your administrator password, and retrieve the files from there. If desired, you can then use the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences to delete the migrated account. This can be done in reverse if you only want the migrated account.

I have transferres Adobe programs from my old Mac Book to my new Mac Book Pro, but I can´t open the programs!?
Adobe programs don't do well with migration. You should uninstall them, run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3), and reinstall from the original installers, but you also need to be aware that many older programs are not supported on newer versions of OSX so this may not go smoothly.

I have a new Mac Pro. I want to use my old Mac Pro as a storage drive for photos and old documents, linked to my new Mac Pro. How do I set up the old computer? Both computers have OS X10.9.3. Currently they are connected by a Firewire 800 cable.
You certainly could keep the old Mac Pro in Firewire mode (hold down the T key on its keyboard as you boot) to show its drives on the new MP. This is basically as fast as putting the drives into a Firewire enclosure.
Or you could boot it normally and share its files over the network using the Sharing panel of System Preferences. If you turn on both File and Screen Sharing, you don't even need to have a monitor attached - you can do all administration using screen sharing. However, this method requires that you open all files over the network, which will be slower than the direct-connect method above, and may also not work with all applications.

I can't install my old logic 8 on my new macbook pro. It says it does not support powerpc applications anymore. what do i need to do?? this is ridiculous!!!
Logic 8 will probably run on your new machine but the installation program contains some older PPC code for pre Intel Macs. This was not a problem as all OSX versions contained the "Rosetta" PPC emulation, that is, up until Lion when all PPC emulation was dropped.
There are ways to do this however, try searching Google for: Installing Logic 8 under Lion or Mountain Lion. -
Why can't I open and retrieve my files from iPhoto and my Address Book after importing the files from my Power Mac G5 to my new Mac Pro? I get a warning that says the new OS on my Pro doesn't open files from a Power Mac. Any idea how I can fix this?
For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. How do I transfer files from my old MacBook Pro to my New MacBook Pro?
I am trying to transfer some files, not all, from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro. I have tried to use Migration Assistant, but it doesn't let me choose what I want to transfer (only generic things like "users" and "files and folders"). I have tried to use Firewire. Now here is the funny thing. When I put my old mac in target mode it doesn't appear on my new mac anywhere. But, when I put my new mac in target mode, it pops right up on the dashboard and in finder. The problem is I have tried using my new mac as the target and just place the files into the icon, but the don't stay after I eject. I get a prompt that says downloading and when all files and apps are transferred I turn off my new mac then turn it back on and nothing. I've done search after search and repeated this process 3 times and nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.
Time Machine will not "overwrite". New back ups are added to what is there, without erasing.
Connect the Time Machine back up, double click on the icon and navigate through its contents - the back ups are chronological, so you just select the date then go through the contents just like on any other drive. You can select any files you want and drag and drop on the new Mac's desktop (or anywhere else). -

Can I still open and work in Freehand on this new Mac?Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though. -

Message was edited by: iloveska2Apple will typically allow a return within 14 days of your purchase... which is basically what you would need to do if you wanted to make an exchange. You would basically return your old one and buy the new one. As the previous poster mentioned, at this point, you won't be able to achieve this working directly with Apple. As your machine is 5-6 months old, there is wear to consider... it is basically no longer a new machine. Apple stores are not equipped to "appraise" used machines.

There is no license required for iWeb. Just do a Wyodor suggested and you'll be ready to go. If you're running Lion however, consider the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
