Migration Accelerator: Replication Policy Option empty.

Hi Team,
I am trying to configure Protection for 1 windows VM, but the Replication policy appears empty on the MA portal instead of
Replication Policy with Compression. How can I fix this?

I have not seen such a mode on a WAE, just to be sure I checked on the command reference and for version 4.4.1 there is no such mode, please check the link below:

The application Accelerator should be the one to use to optimize the traffic.
Now going to the issue that you are having the connections on PT would mean that there is an issue with the WCCP configuration.
You said that the set up is for a disaster recovery and that you have 2 WAE's, Correct?
This kind of setup when you have multiple WAE's would cause issues with the configuration of service 61 and 62. In order for this to work, you should have service 61 on the Lan interface and 62 on the WAN interface of the core switch on the other side( branch offices) you would need to revert the services 61 on the Wan and 62 on the Lan.
The PT connections are not caused by the device mode setup. The PT connections are cause by an incorrect traffic flow between the 2 WAE's.

Migration Accelerator stuck with installing Cygwin

After starting InMage_CX_8.1.0.0_Windows_GA_28Aug2014_release on the CS VM, I was asked to download rrdtool, Cygwin and MySQL on the links provided. I downloaded the three files to "C:\INST".
Several steps later, I was asked for the location of the three files - here I provided "C:\INST".
The documentation says here:
"Step 8: Provide the download location for RRD Zip, Cygwin and MySQL. Click Next to start Cygwin and MySQL installation. Follow the instructions in the respective wizards to complete the installation."
Afterwards, the installation of Cygwin starts. I chose "Install from local directory".
When it asks me for the "Local Package Directory" I chose "C:\INST" again. Then Cygwin install performs an operation and in the "Select packages" page it reports "No packages found."
When trying to download from the network instead of "Install from local directory", the installation would continue
-> What's the official way to get Cygwin installed correctly for the migration accelerator?

Thanks for posting question in forum.
while installing Cygwin for CS server, we have different options to get download packages for Cygwin.
1. install from internet
2. download without installing
3. Install from Local directory.
you have selected option 3) and it says no packages found to proceed. So this option applicable when you have packages already downloaded and kept in local location.
So, always please chose option 1) so that it will automatically download the required packages for Cygwin.

Migration Accelerator - Login problem

I received the e-mail with my User ID and Password, but when I try to login I receive: Access denied. Invalid username or password. There does not appear to be an option for resetting the password and I copied and pasted from the e-mail,
so I assume it is correct. Is there any way around this?

Query on Password Policy Options in a Account policy

Hi,
The "Password Policy Options" section of Account policy has inputs "Password Provided by" whose options are generated and User.
What is the meaning of these options? Does it mean the when the "generated" option is selected then the user does not have to type in the password for a new user? Because, I selected the option "generated" but still get the "password" fields in the new user creation form? shouldn't the password be automatically generated?

Sun Idm Secondary Authentication Policy Options

Hi,
I need some inputs on the below,
1. We have a situation where we need to configure 10 security questions in the policy.
2. Force the user to select minimum 5 questions during their first login.
3. Later on, whenever the user's tries to access password reset from Forgot password - they need to answer only 2 questions in order to reset their password.
The "Default Identity Manager Account Policy" policy has a security questions section to setup the questions. And there is an option to enter "Minimum Number of Questions User is Required to Answer " -
if i configure it as 5, it would work on the initial setup page, but when comes to password reset, it asks for 5 questions answered. Any inputs on this is highly appreciated.

To force user to select minimum of 5 questions and allow user to login by answering any 2 of them you can follow these steps:
1) Default Identity Manager Account Policy can be modified by adding following entries in 'Secondary Authentication Policy Options ' section:
a) For Login interface: select 'User Interface' from the drop down.
b) Tick 'Enforce Answer policy at login'
c) slect Any from Authentication Question policy drop down.
d) Enter 2 as the minimum number of questions to be answered.
e) add all the quetions need to answered.
Now since i dont recommend the out of box 'Login Change User Answers Form' form modification, so copy the content in another form. Lets name it as 'Modified Login Change User Answers Form'. Modify the text in 'questionPrompt' label.

IdM Password Policy Options

Anyone know of a way of configuring the Password Policy Options (found in the Identity System Policy) to lost password self-service?
Specifically:
Password Provided by "Generated"
Reset Notification Option "email"
A client (IdM 7.1) would like a person using the self-service lost password function (authenticating via questions) to have new random expired password emailed rather than changing it immediately
The above settings only seem to apply to Administrative password resets.

Cannot perform a live migration while replication is enabled

I have two Server 2012 machines that I am running hyper-v on (just testing for now). I can right click on a virtual machine and move it (live migration) to the other server with no issues. I can also enable replication on the VM and that
appears to work properly. However, if I have replication enabled on a VM I am unable to perform a live migration. I receive an error that says the VM already exists on the destination server (because of the replication).
Is there any way to perform a live migration while replication is enabled?

I can't think of a reason why you would want to anywhere else but a test environment. Replication's intended use is DR across a WAN between two physical location (there are others, but this is primarily why it was created). If Office1 burns down, you can
boot your Replica at Office2. Live Migration is for local HA. If Server1 has a hardware failure, Live Migrate to Server2.
If everyone could simply Live Migrate over their WAN link between offices, Replication would be redundant. But getting a fast enough WAN link for this is extremely expensive, so Microsoft created Replication for high latency, low bandwidth WAN connections.
TL;DR, Replication and Live Migration are mutually exclusive in almost all environments. It's not even that they *can't* work together, it's just that there's no point in making them work together because they're for different use cases.

No you can't, migration accelerator supports only 6 source platforms:
AWS
Hyper-V
VMware VSphere
VMware VCenter
VMware Vcloud
Physical servers

Migration Accelerator - Public IP address requirement for Config Server and Process Server

Currently, when installing the Migration Accelerator components, the Config Server's public IP address must be specified in several places. In the released version of Migration Accelerator, could this be changed to allow customers to specify a public
DNS domain name instead? Using a Public IP address for the Config Server in Azure represents a risk that this public IP may change (unless using the new Reserved VIP Capability in Azure) which could require reconfiguration of several MA components. If
a DNS name will not be supported in the released version of MA, then the documentation should be updated to step through provisioning a Reserved VIP for the Config Server in Azure.
Similarly, if running the Process Server on Amazon AWS (in an Amazon AWS -> Azure migration scenario), either DNS names should be supported for the Process Server configuration or a reference in the document should be added to step through acquiring an
Elastic IP Address for the Process Server.

You didn't make any mistake, the migration tool is only available in the US currently.
It will take sometime.(I registered 2 weeks ago)
From what I heard it will be one of the big winnings of Microsoft against other Cloud Service Providers as non of them giving you the features that the Microsoft Migration Accelerator will bring.

Session migration and replication

Hi All,
I am having a hard time in configuring my application for HTTP session migration. Our weblogic server consists of two managed servers running in same cluster. Each server has an Ehcache that stores some information of user with key as session ID and value as info object. In case, if a server needs restart, we would want to take this updated info Object from cache residing on server being restarted to another managed server within the same cluster.
I browsed through many documentations online. Most of them explained about session replication but not migration. so I followed replication (I don't want a real time sync up of HTTP session. I want it to migrate if something goes wrong with one of the managed server).
However, I could not achieve this task after following the steps to configure this feature. I would appreciate a lot if someone can help me figuring out the issue here.
Here is what I did.
1) Weblogic.xml

How to do Migration of OWSM policy from development to staging

The technical document for OWSM states that it
Supports migration of policy from development to staging, and then on to full-blown production, but there is no clear cut strategy given for the same in any of the documents. Can some body help me out in finding this info anywhere ? If somebody has implemented the same can the strategy to migrate the policy in OWSM from development to staging be shared ? We certainly had discussion with Oracle and thought about this at the very beginning of our implementation. And the answer is there is no clean way to do this in current release. So our SOP is manual process. You may have some help with Policy Templates.
What we also heard is there will be some significant changes to WSM in r11 in terms it's metadata and support for WS-Policy standard. So we hope those changes are for better and they address the migration of service policies across environments in r11.

How do I disable hardware acceleration? (This option from preferences menu not works on Linux)

I want to disable hardware accelaration because it freezes my pc at startup.
I am convinced that HA causes this problem.
My OS is Crunchbang (http://crunchbang.org/about/) .
My pc is a pentium 4, nvidia 5200 gpu, nouveau drivers.
I ask for help at MozillaZIne Forum (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2767265) and at Crunchbang forum.
I disable HA in firefox (preferences and about:config) without result.
In FireFox General Options "Use hardware accelaration when available" is disabled.
In about: config gfx.content.azure.enabled is false and gfx.direct2d.disabled (user set) is true.
Also xorg.conf doesn't help me.
In xorg.conf (configuration file of Nouveau GPU driver) hardware accelaration is disabled.
The only solution is to disable nouveau hardware accelaration editing the boot menu (kernel boot parameter : nouveau.noaccel=1) and firefox works.
But HA is necessary for other applications like OpenOffice.
If HA is disabled menus, buttons and other UI components do not show properly

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Microsoft Migration accelerator - Process Server NAT?

For the MS MA process server (on premises server), one of the requirements is a NAT setup to an external IP. Do we have any control over what port the server will be using? The reason I ask is 80 and 443 on this specific IP are already
consumed and being used for other servers, so I cant NAT those ports to the PS box.
Any insight here would be excellent. Thanks!

PS server polls to CS server on port 443 for registration and sync the data for reports.
MT server in azure pulls the replication data from process server through ports 9080 and 9443 (If secure options enabled on replications). MT server will connect to PS server through NAT IP and required ports to be enabled are 9080 and 9443.
