Migration and Logic, other apps......
OK gurus, I bet you can advise me on this one:
I'm migrating from a Dual Proc G5 to a Quad G5 and have a tonload of apps such as Logic 7, VSL Pro edition, EW libraries, Soft Synths, plugs, blah blah.
Is the OSX migration assistant up to the task these days or do I actually have to go back to the dang CDs/DVDs and reinstall every darn thing from square one in order to end up with a well functioning system?
Or is there some reasonable middle way of approaching this?

(Full disclosure: I may also post this question to other forums as I need to jump on this task ASAP. I hope that doesn’t mean I'm a stinking spammer now)
I would just make an image of the old (functioning?) system and try it on the Quad. It will work as well most of the time. Plugs handle authorization differently so they may need to be reregistered if they look at your system for an ID. Name the System Volume the same as the original and then don't rename your additional volumes, just plug them in.
Migration assistant won't migrate everything. If your present system works well and is not bogged down then it will usually be successful transistion.
If you are risky you could just drop the old sysem's drive in place and boot from there, almost the same thing but without backup for either system.

App store reports "Pinball HD and 11 other apps cannot be purchased at this time"..... This occurs whenever I log into the app store. I have already purchased this app (and presumably the 11 others as well). I believe this started when it showed up as an app I should update (for free).
My wife and I share this iPad and we have apps purchased under two different store accounts on this machine. I have tried to log off and sign in with her account and then check updates but with either account I am told that all apps are up to date. All of our credit card info is current. Any clues?Already on Automatic..... :(
This is an iPad 1 - I've had it since it first came out (ordered directly from Apple). Lots of apps and purchases over the years. My wife got her own WiFi only iPad shortly after mine as she fell in love with it and I don't share well. ;) This only started about 7-10 days ago. I did not update to iOs 5.1 until last night so this predates that. My concern is that when the iPad 3 arrives next Friday that this will transfer over.

Error 1004 and 1013: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to default on Windows. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

The App store is a problem for many and I have not seen a solution.
What is "wrong" with your Apple ID?
Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod. -
I keep getting an error message when downloading a new app which states " Zinio and 5 other apps cannot be purchased at this time" and then it let's me purchase the app that I was looking at? Can anyone explain that?

I had this problem for about six weeks. I was following this forum but was too unsure of what might happen to try the fixes that were suggested.
About two weeks ago I decided to delete the downloads.28.sqlitedb file (usingDiskAid(a free program), on a PC running Windows 7). The original downloads.28.sqlitedb was 936 KB. The new one that the system created is 80 Kb., and has stayed at about that size. After about four days I also deleted all the other contents of the Download folder. Ten days later and still no more problems. Downloads are much quicker, nothing greys-out (as was happening frequently before).
Everything has worked well since with no more error messages.
I am using an iPod 4G, iOS 5.1 (originally iOS 5.0). I do not have a manifest file, and as far as I know, have not had one. DiskAid can search the whole "hard drive" on the iPod.
Deleting downloads.28.sqlitedb and the contents of Downloads worked for me. -
App Store says, "Tuner! and 4 other apps could not be downloaded at this time. Please try again later."
How may I appease the Store? The message first appeared a couple of weeks ago and seems to reappear every time I download something from the App Store, be it an update or a new app. I tried re-downloading and re-deleting "Tuner!" (this is the only one whose name I can see), but to no avail. I even tried hiding a whole load of apps from my Purchased list (including Tuner!) in the hope that the five offenders would GO AWAY and stop waiting around being nuisances ;) I haven't noticed them slowing down/stopping my other downloads, so I never paid the pop-up notice much attention, but it is starting to bug me now.

Microphone works fine with Quictime on another mac, so I do know how to use it. The one where it is not working (A) had an external microphone and camera attached earlier, and indeed it does work with that external microphone, but not with the internal microphone selected; and (B) had RealPlayer installed previously.

Extract this driver with Winrar.
Open Device manager and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
Right click on Either the High Definition Audio Device if you have the generic Microsoft drivers, or the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 if you have older Conexant drivers and choose "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software, then click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click "Have Disk..." then Browse to the folder where the drivers were extracted .......\V64 for 64-bit Vista/Win7. Click OK.
Select one of the "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" models in the list, there will be multiple identical entries.
Click Next, and you're done.
I'm not sure which one from the list will work for You.

Chrome and some other apps scrolling jerky in Mountain Lion
I note from another site there are seven bugs needed fixing asap. I have most of them after upgrading.
Worst at the moment is the crap scrolling in Chrome and some other apps.
Also losing the pointer bery often
How soo do Apple respond and fix these things normally.
I think Lion and Mountain Lion are brilliant but I didn't think my new commitment to Apple would include these shoddy upgrades.Yep...

My iPhone 5S lost Settings, Phone, Text Siri, Music and many other Apps.
I cannot find Settings, Phone, Text, Siri, Music, Safari and many other Apps are gone. I cannot make phone calls, text or access the internet through Safari. Help! I was running iOS 7
If you reset it (Home and Power Buttons at the same time), does it go back to normal?
If you have backed it up recently (to iCloud or iTunes), you could try restoring it.
Go to iTunes and do a restore to a fresh copy of the latest iOS software.
Then sync your backup back into the phone. -
I must have done something inadvertently and now if I have more than one application open, the one I click on comes up front and center and the other apps disappear. How do I reset to have them both up and open and viewable at the same time?

I've just upgraded my system from Tiger to Leopard (no sense leaving it too much longer, I guess).
I did the right thing with a clean install on a new drive.
I brought settings/apps over from the old Tiger disk just to streamline things, then came the latest patches (via software update) and the problems started.
I've removed the apps according to the Apple KBase article (delete app from applications folder, related receipts, etc) and brought the apps back to life. The weird thing is that problems affect all apps in FCS2 except FCP.
So, I've taken the error logs from Console which I hope will give better debugging feedback. I truly welcome any ideas about what the problem is and how I go about fixing it!
*Here's part of the error message from STP, for example:*

Suggest as previous poster, get all your data & prefs (boomarks & settings) of the DDM | filesystem & reinstalll the OSX and all the apps then renstate you own dat and prefs etc. It will be clean wo't take too much longer than what you have been doing.

I found out after the install of LION, that it does not support Rosetta, which runs Quicken and the classic AOL software and a myriad of other apps.
Can I go back to Snow Leopard? Is there a way to retrieve my thousands of saved E mails, which are saved on my Mac?
I still see the filing cabinet with my screen name but cannot get them to open.

Lion may roar, but the fact it does not support apps like quicken means it purrs.I had the Apple store wiped out my hard drive and I restore my last hard drive downloard by first placing Snow leopard DVD in the DVD drive and holding "C" when turning on the machine then I follow the instructions. I am back on snow leopard and trying out two finance software to replace Quicken for mac 2007. I am trialing Quicken essentials and ibank. They are both compatable with LION. So when I am ready will download Lion again. Also, Micorsoft Office needs to be 2011 version for it to work on Lion

Mail and some other apps crashes when starts
I found archived topic with NO ANSWER!
I have the same problem:
These apps would crash immediately upon opening:
iPhoto
Mail
iChat
Automator
(I tested only few other apps, and they works, like iWer, iMovie, iDVD, iTunes,...)
I tried to reinstall Mail app with few ways I found on the Internet, but with no success!
Snow Leopard, 10.6.4, all software is up to date!
