Migration and then Activation
Hi Gurus,
I have 2 questions.
I'm working on BI 7 and I have migrated a DataSource from 3.5 into BI 7.
After migration, it's showing unequal sign (M version is different from A version).
When I checked the BI Content I found the DataSource(InfoSource) was already installed.
1. Now I am thinking of Activating it again but Please let me know how important it is to re-activate
it. Is there any issue while reActivating BI Content ?
2. Anothe problem is - few Gurus suggested me to use Standard InfoCube related to Standard
DataSource instead of creating a new one. My question is how do I do this:
Well, I have done this in this way,
I created a new InfoCube (under my InfoArea) copying the Standard one.
Have I done the right thing ?

Hi,
1. Theres is no issue reactivating Bi content. After migration or replication, generally the objects go into inactive state..so u need to reactivate them if you want to make use of it.
2. You could have directly activated the Standard Infocube from Business content if it wasnt being used and hasnt been installed. However if the standard is already in use or you dont wont to tamper with it...then its fine if you've copied it.

Keep powering your phone off and back on, it can take up to 2 hours for a normal service provider to finalize the activation process. When you got your new iPhone (congrats by the way) you should have received a little bubble that appeared that told you when the phone was activated, did you see that?

Deactivation and then Activation on another computer
I purchased and then downloaded via internet Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. Then bought a new computer. How do I deactivate Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 from one computer and then activate the progam on another computer?
Choose Help > Deactivate on the first computer and then uninstall the software.
Install on the second computer. The software should activate automatically.

Those are the instructions for your computer's iTunes (i.e. using the Store menu at the top of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'View My Account' on it). If you are doing it on your iPad then are you following the instructions for iOS devices :
To unhide your purchases
Depending on the content type, open the App Store, iBooks, or iTunes Store on your device.
Scroll to the bottom of the main page.
If you're not already signed in, tap Sign In.
Tap your Apple ID name, then tap View Account.
Scroll down on the Account pane, and tap Hidden Purchases.
Locate the item you would like to unhide then tap the Unhide button. -
Here is a bit more detail.
We were replacing old teacher machines and wanted to do it as efficiently as possible. Therefore, we set up one computer, through the OS installation and ran all updates, and then made a disk image so that we can use Carbon Copy Cloner to image all the other computers without having to run all the other updates. Once they were set up to a base level and assigned to a teacher we used Migration Assistant to import all their old files and items. Everything has been fine until recently the computers became aware of needing an update for one or two apps. The machine asks for the original computer's Apple ID for all updates. We have logged out of the apple id and back in with another to test if running the updates will work with that Apple ID and even after a refresh it still asks for the other Apple ID. How can we disassociate the Apple ID from those other computers so that the individual who owns the original is not needed each time there is an update or has to give out their Apple ID password?There are two parts to this:
1) It may be that you should have an Apple Education Support person helping you with this. If you have enough computers for this to be a problem, you may benefit from a Server, a site license, and an occasional visit from an Education Support Specialist.
2) The brief answer, if you want Individual Apple_IDs to control each computer, is to buy new copies of Mac OS X under those new Apple_IDs and re-download and re-Install. Mac OS X is customized to the Apple_ID before it is downloaded. -
i set up my new computer using the apple ID i always use, and then later migrated all my files from my old mac book to the same new one, but under a different user (same apple ID). how do i consolidate the two users on my new mac book?
Well if you use the Finder Go menu to Computer, a window opens up double click on your boot drive and then on Users folder, open the other user folder and open Public and drop your files into DropBox
When you do this it will copy them and change the permissions and user assigned to it, so log into the other user and place them into your respective normal folders.
Once you have all your files over and don't need the old user, use System Preferences > Accounts to delete it if you wish, however it's good two Admin accounts on the machine in case something bad happens in the other. Some people for security reasons on use a Standard account for most uses and a emergency Admin account.
One can still do most Admin things in Standard user. -

When i upgraded from 9.2.3 to 9.3.1 I had migration issues, where most my photos ended up in a restored event called restored photos. But then they don't come up in faces anymore. So can i upgrade to 9.3.2 and then just rebuild my photo library ? I want to upgrade to mountain lion. But concered about my photo library. So I restored my whole computer back to an earlier date, becuase I couldn't figure out how to restore just my photo library. Advice?
Best way is to restore your backup from before the problem, rebuild it and update it again

I recently inherited a restored iPhone 5 from my uncle and its needs a sim to be activated, could i use my friends sim just to activate my iPhone and then give the sim back once its activated without affecting his contract and later on get a sim for myself and a contract for me and it all be normal??? The phone MUST have a SIM present in order for activation to complete. The process will not finish otherwise.
For the OP:
If the iPhone 5 is locked to a carrier, you must use a SIM from that same carrier. Otherwise I think you would be OK borrowing the SIM to activate the phone.

I am sorry, but I do noisy understand what happens to my RAW original Master files, which I keep offline on a RAID array and then what I do with my Vault which as all my edited photos ? Sorry for such a simple question, but would someone please help my lift the fog ?

Apologies, as I am attempting to get to the bottom of this migration for my wife ( who is away on assignment ) and I am not 100% certain on the technical aspects of Aperture, so excuse my ignorance.
She has about 6TB worth of RAW Master images ( several 100 thousand ) which, as explained, are on an external RAID drive. She uses a separate Drive as a Vault . Can I assume that this Vault contains all of her edits, file structures , Metadata, etc ?
So, step by step........She can Import into Lightroom her Referenced Masters from her RAID and still keep them there ? Is that correct ?
The Managed Files that are backed up by her Vault , are in the pictures folder of her MacPro, but not in a structure that looks like her Aperture library ? This means Lightroom will just organize all the Managed files, simply by the date in the Metadata ? Am I correct ( Sorry for being so tech illiterate ).
How do I ensure she imports into Lighgtroom in exactly the same format as she runs her workflow in Aperture ? ( Projects, that are organized by year and shoot location and Albums within those projects with sub-locations, or species , etc ). What exactly do I need to do in Aperture please to organize Managed Files to create a mirror structure of Aperture on my internal Hard Drive ?
There are a couple of points I am unsure about in regard to Lightroom. Does it work in the same way as Aperture ? Meaning, can she still keep Master Files on an external RAID and Lightroom will reference them ? If the answer is yes, how do you back up your Managed ( edited ) work in Lightroom ? ( Can you still use an external Drive as a Vault ? ) . Will the vault she uses now be able to continue to back up Managed Files post migration ? -
my iphone 4 says activation required and then connect to itunes and when i try to connect it wont what do i do (i cant use it at all) :'(

Iphone will not turn on unless plugged into outlet, and then says activation needed
It worked fine before class, when I left class to check my phone, it wouln't turn on. If I plug it into the wall outlet and it shows the red battery indicating it has no charge, then goes to the apple logo screen for a few minutes before turning on and saying activation required. It was trying to make me go through the steps of activating it. If i unplug it, it will turn back off. It will not power up if I plug it into the computer, and it does not show up as a device on my computer. I have tried holding down the home and power button to reset it, and this does not work. I bought the phone when it first came out, Im trying to avoid taking it the the Apple store because it is 2 hours away.
What troubleshooting have you tried? Try a reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot. If it does not, then you need to try and restore via iTunes. Try connecting the phone to the computer and iTunes and see if it is recognized. If not, you will have to force it into Recovery mode and restore. See this support document for that help. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
