I recently migrated apps and data from my eMac to Mac mini. Now my Mac mini has the same name as my eMac. How do I change the name of my Mac mini?

How do I migrate apps from an old iphone if I didn't back them up?
I created a backup of my iphone 5s just before activating my iphone6. But I chose not to back up the apps to my computer because at the moment I was thinking of my MBA's hard disk space. Now that Im restoring the backup to my new phone, I get an itunes message saying 64 apps were not installed on my phone because the apps could not be found.
The phone is still restoring photos. What can I do to get those apps on my phone without having to re-install them manually?

Ok, I have my old iphone5s and my new iphone6.
I have apps on my iphone5s, i haven't erased anything.
One of those for example is iBank.
I connect the iphone5s to my mac, in iTunes I select the phone, click on Computer backup "This computer" and click on Backup now. Itunes says its backing it up and finishes.
Now I unplug the iphone5s and plug in the iphone6.
It starts to sync but then gives me an error saying some apps were not installed:
The games I don't care about, but iBank I do, there is also a company erp app. Those are the only 2 I really need to have back on my new phone. No matter how many times i backup the old, it just won't find the apps. Why?

ADF Faces to Trinidad migrated app popup not working

I have 10g version application (ADF bc and jsf) migrated to 11g using automated migration of jdeveloper and this application has lot of popups . for some reason pop ups are not working in the converted app
if i open a popup programmatically it works okay , but it is not working when used from faces-config.xml ; with dialog:edit etc and usewindow = true - opens in same window
for this blog post [http://blogs.oracle.com/Didier/2008/12/dialog_not_opening_in_a_popup_1.html] by Didlier , the configuration should be moved to adfc-config.xml file , but looks like that is only required when using rich controls ( mainly task flows) . for now my applicaiton only has trinidad components.
If i create adfc-config.xml manually and copy all the navigation flows , will it work. i guess i need to specify that somewhere for the application to start using this file

There seems to be a broader problem here in that the client-side validation is not respecting sub-form boundaries. Any post on the page causes all the validations to run, not just the ones in the subform that contains the control the invoked the post.
Also, with the field marked as immediate, will I have problems with a "Cancel" button marked as immediate? Will the validation on the immediate field take place prior to the navigation invoked by the Cancel button?

Use Time Machine to Migrate Apps or Re-Install Anew?

I bought a new 15" MacBook Pro a month ago and have used Migration Assistant to move all my files from my external drive, which were backed up from the old computer via Time Machine to this drive. I have been advised that this is a BAD IDEA, and that I should re-install my old software onto the new computer, and only use the migration assistant for moving DOCUMENT files to the new computer. Prior to receiving this advice, I had pro-actively reinstalled my entire Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection to this new computer's application folder, so the entire suite is installed on my new computer. The Creative Suite has now been installed on the new computer, and is also sitting on the new computer via the Migration Assistant process which brought EVERYTHING from the old computer to the new.
Should the Creative Suite Files in the Applications folder, which migrated via Migration Assistant, be REMOVED since they were already reinstalled on this new computer? Does anyone have some advice about this? I had heard that software should always be "REINSTALLED" as oppose to "copied" onto a new computer...

wait, i'm not understanding something.
you say that you installed (via install disc) your whole suite AND migrated your apps over, so you have a double installation???
i just wiped out my boot drive and re-installed everything manually (to clean up and prepare for LION upgrade, plus get rid of some apps...migration assistant brings EVERYTHING OVER, which is annoying, so the only way to leave stuff out was to start fresh and only install what i wanted).
the first thing you should do is open up each version of each application to see which ones the licenses are tied to. in some CS installs, you have to de-authorize a version before you can install another version. it's possible that one version will work and the other one won't.
in any case, i think having 2 versions in the app folder doesn't really matter, it just takes up extra space. you only want one version (whichever one works) anyway. in my particular instance, i have a site license, so i can install it wherever without the de-authorization problem.
i've succesffully migrated using migration assistant as well as copied a bootable clone back to my machine. it's definitely cleaner to do a fresh re-install, but i think it might be too late for that since you double-installed.
again, figure out which version works. if they both work, you could probably get rid of either one. all the plists and application support files, plug-ins should be for the migrated version if you accumulated those things over time before you mirated over. just make sure that those are tied to the version that works and get rid of the other.

Any one know why I get the message below after I bought new iMac and migrated everything to the new machine via time machine backup?
none of my cc apps open. they all trow this error. redownloading and installing CC desktop does not help.

Warning when migrating app to Flex 4

I'm getting this warning when migrating an app to Flex 4:
AboutModule is a module or application that is directly referenced. This will cause modules:AboutModule and all of its dependencies to be linked in with MyKoolApp. Using an interface is the recommended practice to avoid this.
What should I change so I do not get this warning?

Don't actually type the word AboutModule in the main app. Doing so will
likely link in that class and defeat the whole purpose of modules.

Migration apps using HfmCopyApplication

Hi!
I want to move HFM application from one server to another using HfmCopyApplication.exe. The problem is that my source and target enviroment are not on the one server and they are even not located in one network.
And i dont know how to move it?
Any suggestions?
Any other ways of migration?

If the servers are not on the same network, then you cannot use the HFM Copy App utility. In that case you're better off exporting at the database level, and then importing into the target database using the RDBMS export/import tools. Certainly you could use Lifecycle management in 11.1.1 to export everything to a file except for the data, and you would have to manually extract the data and move it to the new target application. This approach is a rebuild rather than a straightforward move however, so it depends on what your specifica goals are.

I would really appreciate if I can get some answers from successfully migrated Forte->Java apps. I'm specifically looking for apps that ended up with Web based frontend i.e. JSP/Servlet/JSF or the like.
1. Are there any automated tools that converts to Web based frontends?
2. Even if not automatically converted i.e. done by hand, what was the eventual frontend architecture?

Migrating app from 9.0.5.1 to 10.1.2.0 findAll problem

Hi,
we are migrating our J2EE 1.3 applications from OAS 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.0.2. Thus, we've upgraded JDeveloper from 9.0.5.1 to 10.1.2.0.2 version.
Now, an EJB 2.0, CMP and CMR, application that worked perfectly with version 9.0.5.1 is showing a very strange behaviour when running on 10.1.2.0.2 version.
For instance, we've detected that invocation on findAll method of certain entity bean does not retrieve all the rows in the backend table. In fact, the collection it returns has repeated entity beans.
Any idea on what's going on?

The toplink-ejb-jar.xml file is typically created from mapping your entities to the tables in the mapping editor provided in JDeveloper or the standalone workbench utility. It is not a direct 1:1 association with the orion file.
We have provided a migration utility for moving from the orion CMP to the new default CMP (TopLink).

You will see a hint: „JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.1) is Aviable.“
Press the „Select All“ button, then „Next“.
Check the „Summery“ box.
Click Finish and see the „Confirm Exit“ text and press „Yes“ to restart JDeveloper.
And now after running this course and rechecking the result against your (very comprehensible) assumptions tell me something about professionalism...

Seems that some of the files still in Windows format, You need to change those files format by typing the bellow command.
dos2unix /u01/mmapps/mmappscomn/admin/install/MMAPPS_tanouf/wdbsvr.sh /u01/mmapps/mmappscomn/admin/install/MMAPPS_tanouf/wdbsvr.sh
Do it with all the files.
Run again autoconfig, I am sure it will works.

Migrating apps from app store & logic pro 9

My hard drive failed about a week ago, but i managed to copy all of my apps (and as far as i can tell all applicable files from the library folder) to an external hard drive. However, after reformatting my macbook pro, any apps that were downloaded from the app store wont open. The thumbs show the standard application picture with a no access sign on top, and when i try to open them i get a window saying 'You can’t open the application “” because it is not supported on this type of Mac.'.
This wasnt an issue for most apps, i could just redownload them for free, but the problem is logic pro 9, which of course is no longer on the app store due to the release of logic pro x.
What can i do to get logic working, or is do apple still host it somewhere? I dont think this is a problem with os version, before formatting i was on either 10.8.2 or 10.8.3, now im on 10.8.4.

They should all be in itunes on your cpomputer. Just sync them to the new iphone.

Migrating apps from Panther to Tiger

I just migrated all my stuff from my old 800mhz imac to my new 2.1ghz imac, and everything seemed to be fine until I tried opening Final Cut Express. It refused to open, the error saying "The application Final Cut Express HD quit unexpectedly after it was opened." This error never happened on our old iMac.
Do I have to reinstall FCE completely?
Also, my MS Entourage didn't migrate any of my old emails. How do I do that? When I go to account set up (or whatever it's called) it says that it can't find any MSN User Data or identities or something. Basically, how do I get my old emails onto my new iMac?

Disk Warrior repairs the "card catalog", more commonly known as the "directory", which tells the computer where files are. It is not a data recovery program per se, though it does know how to rebuild a directory from scratch.
On the other hand, Data Rescue is not a repair program, but purely a data recovery program. It is able to ignore missing directory listings, and find all the files on the hard drive as long as they haven't been severely written over.
Data Rescue will ask for a source (the drive with the missing information) and a destination (an empty Firewire hard drive with more space than the source), and will make an effort to recover the data.
If you choose to download Data Rescue, using a second drive or machine (separate from the source/destination devices) to access the machine with missing information is better. Data Rescue is also available on bootable CD, and that won't need a second machine, or separate drive.
Ideally you would have backed up your information in the first place so this Data Rescue operation wouldn't be necessary. Then you could have used Disk Warrior to see if rebuilding the directory was all that was needed. But since you don't have a backup, that's why I'm recommending Data Rescue.
