Migration assistant froze half way through me setting up my new MacBook and i can't reboot it?
I'm trying to set up my MacBook Pro but my internet connection is pretty dodgy so i was half way through transferring my files with the migration assistant when on my PC it came up with an error message. I restarted it on the PC, only there is no option to restart it on the Mac so I'm not sure what to do now. Help?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The only method to close Migration Assistant now is to hold the Power button until the computer turns off, and then, turn it on again. Maybe some of the files you wanted to transfer aren't on the MacBook, so you will have to start Migration Assistant again

When using Migration Assistant to move files from old PC laptop to new MacBook Pro, that has Windows 8 installed containing Outlook, will emails, contacts and calendar entries be moved to Outlook on the new MacBook or into Mail, Contacts and Calendar?
I doubt they will. But then I'm not sure as I used a migration program once about 18 years ago and totally FUBARed the system I had at that time and I've never used one again.
For me the reason to have a new system is to start fresh. Installing only program that I now use and manually copying data over from the older system.
Not sure your older version of Outlook, and the outlook mail boxes, are compatible with Office/Outlook for Mac 2011.
A better place to ask this question would be on the MS Office for Mac forums.

Migration Assistant: Problems transferring data from PC (XP SP3) to new Mac Pro 2012 - can not get Migration Assistant to work as PC will not display verfify passcode
Hello, I am having problems migrating data from my old PC running XP (SP3) to my new Mac Pro 2012 using the Migration Assistant.
- I downloaded and installed the Windows Migration Assistant from Apple
- My Mac recognized PC and displays passcode
- The sasscode does not show / display on my PC
- My Mac is then stuck in "authenticating" loop and the PC is stuck "waiting for Mac to connect."
- Both computers are connected on same network (have connected PC on WIFI and using ethernet to Reuter)
I have looked on support site and only response I saw says to reinstall Windows Migration Assistant (which I have done)
Any ideas? If cant get this to workare there instructions for manually bring across relevant data eg itunes music and apps, photos, picasa data etc?Why not turn off the Windows firewall and uninstall any other firewall software you have installed?
If you are using a Norton product uninstall it and discard it. To fully unistall most Norton products you have to go to the Norton website and download a soecial program to completely get rid of it. The normal uninstall feature built into the program will not remove all of it. -
I successfully upgraded to Yosemite and tried to launch iPhoto. It wants to upgrade my photo library but gets stuck half way through. I have quit and tried several times but same result. Can anyone help?

I cannot hear my entire audiobook. About half way through it there is no audio. Can I re-download it?
They downloaded into seperate files but when I double click the .exe file for the 7z it works fine, however with the other file i recieve a message that "The file archive part of adobe Photoshop 11 is missing. You need all parts in the same file to extract Adobe Photoshop 11. Please download all parts." It looks like the download should be fine, I never recieved an error and I've now downloaded it twice (it takes forever) and neither will work. I am running Windows 8 and I'm wondering if there might be a conflict somehow?

Migration Assistant freezes part way through
Hi,
Just migrating my old MacBook over to my new MacBook Pro w/ Migration Assistant over network. Was going fine, then an error appeared on old MacBook saying something about a Network connection failure, and the other computer stopped responding. A message about 5 minutes later appeared on the MacBook Pro similar to the first message saying the MacBook had stopped responding. I clicked continue and it still appears to be stuck.
Shall I wait, will they rework the connection or is that game over for this attempt. If so, what state will the new MacBook Pro be in? Does it cancel everything that has happened up until this point, or will it be in a right old mess? I chose the replace users option in Migration assistant.
Thanks!Since your MacBook is 2 Ghz, I think it has Firewire. If it does, you are better off doing it via Firewire than ethernet. You can get a Firewire 400 to 800 cable from numerous sources. My favorite is http://www.macsales.com/
Ethernet is often slowed down if there is anything else on the network, same as WiFi.
As for wiping the hard drive, you can try without wiping it, however, you may end up with duplicate or incomplete information transfered. Since it is a new machine, extract what you need with target disk mode

Migration assistant aborts part way through. Why?
I just bought a new MacBook Pro (Lion) and am trying to transfer my old Mac (10.5) to my new. Here is what I have done:
- turned off wifi on both computers
- connected them using an ethernet cable
- closed all programs on both computers
- opened Migration Assistant on both
- set the new computer to "from another Mac"
- set the old computer to "to another Mac"
- initiated the process once both computers recognized each other
The migration starts perfectly and moves along just fine...and then stops. I have tried this a number of times and it always stops, although never in the same place. I have used Migration Assistant many times in the past and it has always worked perfectly. I can't understand why it is so flakey now. How do I make this work?

just need to reset it to factory settings because daughter forgot password..and when i try to do it through itunes to stops half way to say that i need to unlock the ipod..so please let me know if anyone can help me with this..ive already tried turning it off and then holding the home button while i plug the ipod to the computer and the itunes screen on the ipod comes up..i;m really hoping i don't have to go to an apple store..i live hours away from one..thanks!
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.

My music stops half way through the song on my iPhone 6 and now my MacBook Pro during home sharing?
After the download of my music to my new iPhone 6 when playing back it is stopping halfway through the song and going to next in shuffle, now I noticed it is doing the same thing w/ some songs through my MacBook Pro while home sharing on my my home stereo?

Are you able to boot the computer to your Leopard system? If so then first:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Clean the Snow Leopard DVD with alcohol and a lint-free cloth from center to rim to be sure there are no finger prints, scratches, or dirt. They try again. -
I decided to change my apple id on my iphone 5 to have a seperate account from the other people in my family. I changed all of the settings to the new id and I can't sync new apps or music to my phone and apps on my phone will not sync to my computer. Please help!!!
If you didn't already do so, authorize your computer for the new ID by opening iTunes and going to Store>Authorize This Computer. Then sync your phone with iTunes.

I have recently purchased a refubished imac 3.06 ghz intel core 2 duo and I'm trying to install logic 7.2 on this machine. I get half way through the content install and it crash's .
