Migration Assistant: migrate only selected applications

I have a new Macbook Air and an old Macbook Air. Both on Yosemite. I want to migrate only selected (few) applications from the old to the new. Can I do that with Migration Assistant?
If not, how should I do it?
I don't want to migrate everything. Thank you!

It appears Migration Assistant is all applications or none.
Set up screen sharing between the 2 computers and copy what you want that way.

I feel I've explained plenty what you must do but you aren't getting it.
All music on your old iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Transfer the music from your iTunes library on your computer to your new iPhone in the same way it was transferred from your iTunes library to your old iPhone - via the iTunes sync/transfer process.

Migrating only CS2 and Mail from PB G4 to MBP

To anyone who can possibly help me:
My PB G4 is on its last 1/3 of the screen (I currently can only "see" 1/3 of the LCD screen, it's grim) and I am going to go for gold and get a MBP.
I would in reality like to transfer only Photoshop CS2 and all my email stuff from the PB G4 to the MBP. The rest of the apps I am going to reinstall. As for Photoshop, I will soon get the upgrade to CS3 and life will be easier in the Intel environment. The problem is that I lost my Photoshop CS code and I only own the code for CS2.
My questions is, by using the migration assistant, is it possible to migrate a single application as well as all my emails from my Mail app? My understanding is that when you use migration assistant, it's all or nothing: you either migrate everything on your previous mac to the next one or you have to use the target disk mode.
If the only way I can get around this is to use target disk mode, which files and folders do I have to move from the PB G4 to the MBP?
I'm sure this problem has been answered by someone at some time in these forums, but after searching far and wide, I can't seemed to find the answer.
Whomever has the expertise to help me, I thank you very much in advance.

Yes.
These are the items that are listed on the Introduction Migartion window. You have the option.
.Users
.Applications
.Network and Machine Settings
.Files
.Volumes
The only one that you should not Migrate to Intel is Applications, it is better to just reinstall them. As you run the risk of copy file that are not Intel compatible. As for any application you migrate just select the application icon and go to Get Info and be sure that you are not running it via Rosetta.

Your user account on the new Mac must have a different UID than on the old one. See the pink box in Problems after using Migration Assistant for an explanation.
You'll need to change the permissions on the iPhoto library on the external HD. Do a Get Info on it, click the padlock at the bottom of the Sharing & Permissions section of the Info window and enter your Admin password.
Then click the plus sign, select the user account you want on the next screen, and click Select. Then change Read only to Read & Write for that user via the little arrows. Finally, click the "gear" icon and select Apply to enclosed items. That may take a few mintutes on a large library.

Migrating only some apps to new computer

New MacBook Air (10.8.4) and want to migrate only some of my programs from old MacBook (10.6.8). Haven't tried it yet, but in looking at Migration Assistant, I only see an option to tick of for all applications.
I'll be doing it through a cloned external drive.
Is MA the best way to do it? Is there a way to only move a few applications? How do I be certain that I get everything that goes with a program. (Thinking particularly about Lightroom and Photoshop CS6.)

As for your apps: Depending on what they are, you might want to check to make sure they are compatible with Mountain Lion:

As for accounts: since there is a user account set up initially, using MA will generate a second (equal) one. It will create somewhat of a mess as you will need to delete whatever you don't want manually and/or move over from one to the other.
Additional thought:
since you bought it used - did it come with Mountain Lion originally?
Just in case it did not, did the seller give you the original install disks? If not, you'll have to contact the seller or Apple sooner or later. If Mountain Lion is purchased at the app store, the license is not transferable and tied to the purchaser's Apple ID forever. That means you will never be able to reinstall the OS if needed. You'd need to get the install disk, wipe the drive, and reinstall the original OS; after that, go to the app store and purchase your own Mountain Lion license using your Apple ID.

LCM Migration of planning application

Hi All
I am trying to migrate Hyperion Planning Application from one environment to another. The name of the application in both the environment is different i.e. X & Y.
I took an LCM export of application X into the file system and copied the directory generated into the system where application Y resides.
Now I am planning to import this export into application Y.
Do i need to perform some changes as the server IPs are different & name of the applications are also different

I've always thought Ranzal had a perfect blog post on LCM. No, I don't work for them :)

Migrate only Mail

i recently did a full migration fro my g5 to macbook.
my question is, i now want to only migrate (only) my mail from g5 to macbook again, can i migrate only mail ? and if so, will it update or fully erase my mail and that is already there.
also the same for safari.

It will erase if you simply drag and drop the Mail and Mail downloads folder from one Users -> yourname -> Library folder to the next. If you import the mailboxes using Mail's File menu -> Import Mailboxes and navigate to the same folder, you shouldn't experience the same problem. Mind you, you will then have duplicate mail in from the import, if you didn't delete from the old machine the mail that you already copied over.

the 3rd party tool is ETL , you can use ETL tool and the prepare the load files then you can use LSMW method to upload the data to SAP.

Migrate VB/SQL application to VB/Oracle

Hi,
Could you please list the process in sequential order to migrate the whole application from VB/SQL to VB/Oracle.
Migrating from SQL Server to Oracle database can be done by Migration Workbench.
But what about the code in VB written for SQL Server (queries etc) ? Any suggestions.

We have two more customers that currently are in the process of upgrading from MS SQL but as far as I know no one has actually performed an upgrade this far.
If you want to upgrade to OIM 9.1 you will have to wait until the upgrade scripts are available (estimated arrival H2 2008 according to the latest info I have).

What is it that you think needs to be 'migrated'?
Most applications will run just fine using 1.6 - it is compatible with 1.4 already.
You need to conduct your own tests using 1.6 to see if there are any problems/issues with your app.

Rahul,
As John pointed out, copyapp may be available between different versions of planning but is not compatible between different versions of the software. When a copyapp command runs, it connects to shared services, planning and essbase data sources and basically performs an export and import of data. It works on the premise that structure for export is same as structure for import. However, the underlying architecture for shared services (moving away from openldap) and planning tables, essbase (security outside .sec file) has changed and there you cannot just export and import between different versions of software.

We are migrating applications from Production to Dev. We have one EPMA Planning and one Essbase application in both environments.
We have migrated artifacts into File system in PROD(Shared services, EPMA, Planning, Essbase and Reporting). We have copied and pasted in import_export folder in DEV.
Then we are trying to migrate artifacts into applications from File system in DEV. First we did EPMA artifacts successfully in migration status report then we have deployed application into planning without any errors.(msg showing as in sync deployment). After that we did shared services, it is failed

I got solution for this issue through Oracle Support.
I have restored database and migrated artifacts using LCM. any one method is enough to do Planning application migration (from Oracle Support)

Migration of Oracle Application Server

I want to migrate my Oracle application Server 10g 9.0.4 from RHEL 3.0 U4 to RHEL 3.0 U5. My oracle application server is running a portal application and it is also runnins as webserver. Since the existing setup has some performance issue i want to redeploy the applications again but portal users ( 600 + )created in the existing setup has to be migrated in the new setup.
Please give me some inputs in doing that...

There is a backup and recovery function built into the IAS Enterprise Manager, but I am uncertain if cross-platform restores are supported or not.

Migration of web application from 8.1 to 9.2

Can anybody tell me how to migrate a web application (ear, war archive) from version 8.1 to 9.2. I believe that the application can simply be transferred and deployed in 9.2 from 8.1 and it works well. But if it doesnt work, do i need to change anything in the desciptor files or anything.

Time only recovers from selected applications

After upgrading to SL, Time Machine works only selectively. Some documents in Mail, Safari, Address Book and iPhoto appear as normal in Star Wars, but even that is patchy. For all other documents, i.e from Microsoft Office, iCal and iTunes, when the TM icon is clicked, the Desk Top window appears and from then on all one can see is cascading DT windows, but nothing is accessible from them. Quick views of back-up documents can be accessed tediously by going into the external drive via Time Machine in Finder, so the drive is OK. Is there a solution?

Thanks again. I have tried your suggestion several times and on different applications, but it does not make any difference. An example is trying to find an old word version a Word document, the Desktop appears which had not been called up. When I then cancel TM, the desktop window remains. Whether I then close it or just go straight back into the Word document and then click TM, it is only the inactive Desktop that appears. On the other hand, TM does work properly on a page of of Mail, on iPhoto and on the Address book. It does not work on iCal or iTunes - in these two cases also the Desktop appears, so it is not just the Microsoft software that is the problem.
