Migration Designer 6 to Designer 6i

We have 20 applications that have made withe Designer 6 and we want to migrate those applications to Designer 6i.
I want to know, what to consider during the migration

This sounds like you dont have enough space to do the migration and Oracle cannot extend a data file. Make sure you have autoextend on in the target database (I'm guessing it's the target).

A couple of problems we've had is Designer setting strict scoping on by default (it you added dynamic properties to JavaScript form objects as the garbage collection changed) and the way we used 'proto' elements (or form objects that show up under "reference nodes" in the hierarchy)

Hi Prashant,
We don't have any Transaction Codes for these.
Since these are installed along with the SAPLOGON BI components, it cannot be called using a standard transaction.
You have to use only .
Goto Start -> Programs -> Business Explorer -> Web Application Designer/Report Designer/Query Designer.

If your machine does not meet the tech specs for an application, the application will not be listed/offered in the manager. In this case Premiere Pro CC is a 64-bit application and your machine is 32-bit.

Can I upsell (migrate) from CS5 Design Premium to CS5.5 Production Premium WITHOUT losing InDesign?

I currently own and am a registered user of Adobe CS5 Design Premium. I want to migrate to (and add to what I have already purchased) CS 5.5 Production Premium. I have been told by an Adobe salesperson that if I purchase Production Premium 5.5, I will lose apps. I have purchased in Design Premium that are not also in Production Premium. Can this be true? I hope not. Adding to what I have would force me to throw away apps. that I need and use. Please confirm or deny this awful marketing nonsense.

You won't be forced to throw away anything! The Production Premium suite doesn't contain all the applications of Design Premium. Thus some of the Design Premium applications will not be "upgraded" to their CS5.5 versions when you install Production Premium. If you don't uninstall Design Premium, the CS5 version of those applications will continue to be available on your system.

MTD/YTD reporting design, query designer

Hi BI folks,
I have a requirement to build queries through BEx query designer that show MTD and YTD figures. I also have multiple versions/value type built into the RKFs already. I am wondering if there is a way to display YTD/MTD figures, without having to physically restrict them into the RKFs??, (i.e. I would like to have that time restriction sitting on top of the structure as a characteristic).
I am trying to create more flexibility for the end-user, rather that having a huge amount of selections in the structure representing a particular version and time period.
Is there some sort of hierarchy or variable definition that anyone can suggest where I can solve this need?

BJ,
this depends on the environment that you are using, but it is fairly simple to do for MTD and YTD.
as there are multiple variables available to be used for this, I consistently use two in the restriction (but you can play around and see what fits your needs the most). For each structure, you should restrict on the following:
MTD:
Period Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_PER3
Fiscal Year Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_FYEAR
QTD:
Period Characteristic - Restrict to Value range from period 00 to variable 0P_PER3
Fiscal Year Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_FYEAR
The reason you should have the Fiscal Year there is that you can use the text variable to set the column headers.
Be careful that you use the right KF for this. You need the periodic activity for the KF. The reason Period 00 is included as that is where the balance from the prior year is carried over, so if you want to have the YTD values for the Balance Sheet, you would want to include that. This scenario is the only option in BCS, and it doesn't have the Cumulative values.
you can also use the cumulative values, but that depends on how the KF's are set up

Designer 2013 - Design Manager: Page layout created is not showing up in Designer

Hello everyone,
I greatly need assistance. I have wasted over 1/2 a day trying to fix this issue.
I have a site with a subsite. I'm customizing the subsite using the Design Manager. I've been through all of the steps and now I've created a Page Layout (step 6). I created the html and it generated the aspx. I have a drive mapped to the master page
gallery. The files are showing up in the mapped drive. However, when I go into Designer 2013 and click Master Pages, the files aren't there. This happened to me last week and then suddenly, almost magically if you will, the files were there. This was after
refreshing several times, closing Designer and opening it up. All the little tricks you have to use with Designer every now and then. So today I was repeating the process and the files aren't showing up again. I've been refreshing for 4 hours, closed Designer,
even rebooted. To no avail. I disconnected the mapped drive and reconnected. Nothing.
I have the correct permissions. I'm not only the site collection administrator but I'm also the SP Admin.
Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

you have a subsite in a site collection •the publishing feature is activated in the subsite, but not in the site collection •you want to edit/add page layouts on the site collection level, to be used within your subsite •when you open the
site collection in SharePoint Designer, you can't see Page Layouts in the Site Objects panel You now have 2 options: you can either activate the publishing feature in the site collection (and the Page Layouts link comes back), or you can use the All Files
link and browse to the master pages and page layouts library (_catalogs > masterpage.) Either option will do, unless you really don't want the publishing feature in the site collection

Job titles: training/elearning design vs graphic design/communications design

Hello everyone,
I realize this is not a typical 'Captivate' quiestion, and I've posed it to some networking groups on LinkedIn, etc., but I wanted to ask it to this niche community as well:
I started out 3 years ago as a Training Documentation Specialist with my current company, but my title and my description need to be updated as the position/role has expanded to include more graphic design and communication (intranet/internet) tasks in the past few years.
I'm just wondering if there are any other members that design training collateral for companies, either in print or via elearning, among other various graphic design and communications work?
So, by design, I mean this person may have influence on the the material but has a background in graphic design as opposed to instructional design.
If there are any members out there with similar roles, I'd like to gain your insight and review job titles and/or descriptions, if possible.

I think that you'll be just fine with the Retina display model - the 13" models, while upgradeable as far as RAM and SSD, don't have processor and graphics cards that are up to speed for photo and video editing. And more and more software (including Adobe Photoshop) is now 'Retina-ready'.
Yes, you're taking a chance on the screen IR - it has been a problem for some people but not for all. LG panels seem to have the more prevalent IR while some Samsung panels are said to have a 'tinting' problem. WIth any luck, you'll get a screen with no IR and no tints.
If you do get a 'bad' screen, you can always, as many people in the discussion you mention have done, just keep returning it until you get a 'perfect' screen.
Had I not purchased my non-Retina late 2011 model in March of this year, I might have been tempted to go down the Retina road. While I agree with you about having trepidation over purchasing a first-generation product, most of the 'issues' with the Retina display models have been 'fixed' with software updates.
I think that you made the right decision for your needs.

Form Designer in design console

We have the Form designer form, to add user defined fields in design console. I don' know where the user defined fields that are added under this form will be reflected in admin console.
Can anyone explain it to me?

In the "Form Designer" you can't add User Defined Fields for the create user page. The forms you edit here belong to Resource Objects (Active Directory, SAP, OID... and any other configured resource).
The User Defined Fields for the Users, Organizations, Requests, etc are managed in the "User Defined Field Definition" form, in the Design Console.

Web dyn pro screen design(view design)

Hi guys i find it extremely tough managing the UI inside the views, i having to take so many layout designs(matrix , row etc ) and give blank(invisible) UI etc to put what i want where i want, it was a ton easier with ABAP , i think i'm looking at it wrongly ,couldn't find any guidence even in SAP HELP , could somebody help me forwards from this stumbling block please

Using UI Elements in WebDynpro is very simple as far as i have utilisied now, and especially u have Particular Properties of UI elements Where you need Concentrate to Achieve the Functionality.
For Alignment of UI Elements Matrix Head Data, Row Data , Flow Data, Grid Align ment are Used.
For Enabling The UI Elements you have the Property called Enabled set it true or False as required.
For the Showing or Hiding UI Elements you have the Property Called Visible set it to visible or blank or none as it is required.
For More Information on UI Elements Read The help in NWDS Provided by SAP Netweaver.

Windows, Design Premium, & Design Standard CS4 Re-install

I need to re-install my Windows software. I have a serial number for CS4 Design Premium & CS4 Design Standard. Will I be able to re-install all of these CS4 programs iwthout any "hiccups" once I wipe my slate clean with a new Windows install?

We don't know anything about your system and generally preemptively asking is not going anywhere. Run Help --> Deactivate and then simply proceed with your system rebuild. if you have specific issues, you can always come back.

Install Cretive design suited design premium cs 5.5 onto mac

i have ouight a new mac and i need to install my design premium education edition onto it.
i have been advised by an adobe chat representative to copy the contents from my original disk to my usb and then copy the contents from the usb to my mac hard drive since there is no disk drive.
I have done this but the intall and run icons are not recognised and say that they are for a windows app.
the representative assured me it was as simple as copying over and installing.
i have been asked for a serial number, but i can not find this on any of the packaging or disks. i only have my activation key, and my product code which is a 2 digit code with numbers and letters.
please can someone help me install my design premium onto my new mac? thank you.

thank you for your reply. i have started the download, but as i said before, i dont have a serial number on any of my packaging which is where the 'find my serial number' page sugests to look.... what should i do, as when the download is complete it says in the notes that i will be expected to enter my serial number?

View design/Gui design

Hi Gurus,
1.) The view which we design is because of drag and drop in WDA.
      But when a button or text feld gets created it is static .
      How can we make the postion of that feld dynamic.
      For eg:
      I create an element say text box..it gets created at the top..
      what if i want to postion the same in the centre of the view.. How is this possible..?
2.) How can we create dynamic selection screen
Eg: We used to make screen-group = active etc in our report se38 programming.
Are there any methods for the same...?

do u mean u want to create UI dynamically in ur view , u can use the concept of DYNAMIC PROGRAMMING in WD ABAP
To create a new node, the method add_new_child_node( ) can be used. This method hands back the reference to the metadata of the new node.
Dynamic Context AttributesAttributes for the dynamic nodes created can be created by calling the method add_attribute ( ) from the reference to the metadata of the node. This method has to be called once for each attribute.
However add_new_child_node ( ) method not only allows to create a context node, but also to create related attributes.
The interface of method wdDoModifyView provides a parameter VIEW, which is a reference to an object of type IF_WD_VIEW representing the instance of a view at runtime

Procedure to create context nodes dynamically:
In order to create a new independent context node a reference to the metadata of the context root node has to be obtained first. This reference is obtained by calling the method
wd_context->get_node_info( ).
Next, the metadata of the new node has to be defined. To create a new node, the method add_new_child_node( ) from the reference to the context root node can be used. This method hands back the reference to the metadata of the new node. An important parameter of the method add_new_child_node( ) is static. Only if this parameter is set to abap_false can the related node can be deleted at runtime.
I am creating the drop down by index . I have used the reference using the attribute mr_view .
mr_view refers to the associated TYPE IF_WD_VIEW .

What kind of job can I get being a Web Designer/Graphic Designer?

I run BlackReefDesigns.com, and am doing quite a bit of
business consider I don't really advertise too much. I've learned
how to do eCommerce, Flash, etc and things are progressing nicely.
I feel confident in my skills, and I realize that anything I
don't know how to do, I can learn rather quickly. The problem is I
feel I need to become more of a 'business man' if I want my company
to really move forward. I'm only 23 years old so I was thinking of
going and working for a Web/Graphic design firm so I can learn more
about the business aspect of running my own company. Im also
working towards a B.A. in Graphic Design at a larger University in
Southern California...
Just curious, with my skillset, how much money could I, or
should I be making if I went and worked for someone else? Do you
guys know anybody in Southern California that I could work for?

eh, teachers don't always know what they're talking about. in
fact, i
think a lot of the posts made here are a direct result of
poor teaching.
i know that's how i got a lot of my bad habits (not from a
teacher,
per se, but my first boss who taught me some basics) a lot of
people
think they know the dos and don'ts but really don't (plus,
they tend to
change). i thought i knew a lot of stuff until i started
coming here and
learned that a lot of what i thought was the right way to do
things
actually wasn't.
come here often. and listen to what these people say because
they know
their stuff (you'll quickly figure out who the ones are that
know what
they're talking about). i can't tell you how much i've
learned in the
relatively short time i've been a part of this forum. and i'm
still
learning!
teach yourself html. you don't have to be able to write an
entire site
by hand, but at least be able to look at the code and
understand what it
means. like others said, you seem to have a good grasp of
graphic
design, but websites have to be more than graphics.
to answer your money question, it really kind of depends on
the market
where you live. you might just want to look in the want ads
and see what
kind of salaries are being offered for this type of work in
your town.
there's also resources on the web where you can see average
salaries for
various jobs in different places. yahoo has one

but there are lots of others if you
search for something like "compare my salary."
