Migration exchange 2010 to hosted exchange 2013

Hello,
Tried to search for a good solution for what I need but always redirected to places of office365.
I will explain what i need and maybe you could find me a good solution.
I have several offices that i give IT support. Some of them with exchange 2003 and some with 2007-2010.
I want to migrate their servers to my new hosted exchange 2013 (multi-tenancy).
Is there a way to do CutOver migration?
What are my options?
P.s. All offices are working with calendars so PSTing their mailboxes is out of the question.
Hope you understand what i wanted to do.
Thanks for the help.
Lior.

For what you're planning, a cutover migration would be best.  For that I would recommend a tool like Migrationwiz (http://www.migrationwiz.com).  You can start the migration in advance, get the data copied
and then do a final incremental move on the cutover date.  In addition to the mailbox move, you will want to synchronize the directories and ensure that the legacyExchangeDN property of the source mailboxes appear as proxy addresses of type
X500 on the target mailboxes or else they won't be able to reply to old mail or use Outlook contacts or cached addresses.  I don't recall whether MigrationWiz can take care of that for you or not.

Is Exchange 2013 server added in the firewall rule to send communication over port 25?
Do you have use Front end proxy checkbox checked on the Send connector to internet that was created on 2013 (if created)?
If use front end proxy checkbox is checked, then you need to add permissions for your CAS server's IP in the Firewall for outbound port 25 rule. As it appears that the mail is originating from CAS to the firewall. If that checkbox is not checked, we need
to add the Mailbox server's IP on the outbound rule for port 25.

  • Migrating Exchange 2013 public mailboxes to a new server

We have a client that is leaving their current Hosting company and wants to move to our hosting facility. We have recreated their DC,an Exchange Hub, and Exchange Store. We have exported and imported all of their recipient mailboxes and flipped the switch
and all mail flow is now going through our hosting facility. The problem lies in that I can not figure out how to move the public mailboxes out of the old exchange server and import it into the new server. Both are Exchange 2013 and running on windows server
2012. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're looking at a third-party product.  MigrationWiz does public folders.  There are other cloud-based migration solutions, but I don't know whether they support public folder migrations.

  • Migrated Exchange 2013 server - blocking common emails like netflix and amazon?

We were using Exchange 2010 for years, and recently I upgraded to Exchange 2013 and signed up for Exchange Online Protection over the weekend (all at the same time, upgrade, migration, sign up for EOP, etc.).  Some mail is making it through just fine,
while a lot of email is being blocked.  EOP says the email was "delivered" but MessageTracking on our exchange box says Event ID: FAIL...
I'd like to know more about the FAIL ID... how do I find out what made it fail?  I'm guessing it was a transport rule, but when I got to Mail Flow -> Rules - there is NOTHING there.
    Running "Get-TransportAgent" returns these values:
I disabled the malware agent manually on my box since I'm using the EOP stuff now... how can I see or edit the rules that are in place if they do not show up as rules in the ECP?
It's big name companies like amazon, netflix, etc that are getting blocked... I can't see a reason why they would be blocked now on a migrated server and not on my old server... Can anyone provide some insight?  I'd GREATLY appreciate it!

I would tend to agree with you that you don't need them.

  • Cannot migrate exchange 2013 user to another database through EMC, only powershell works?

    Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to migrate a few mailboxes from a database called "primary" to "archive". I can migrate a single user through powershell, however I cannot migrate users through the GUI. When the "syncing" starts, it reverts the total
from "2" to "0" and makes it appear as though I never added any users to the batch job. The job then completes "successfully"
I can see the users in the job before I hit start. Any idea why my job goes blank?
    I'm running exchange 2013 CU6

    Hi ,
    Thank you for your question.
We could refer to the following steps to troubleshoot:
Restart IIS to check if the issue persist.
End up of the user job to check if the issue persist.
Create a new account to check if the issue persist.
We could check relevant application log, then we could check if EAC and EMS connect to same domain controller, then we could check sync between Exchange server and domain controller.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • After migration Exchange 2013, MBX server, CPU utilization is so high

CPU utilization become so high this morning after migration into Exchange 2013,
Some healthy DBs is getting disccounetced with growing replay Queue length, mounted DB is no issue.
It seems that's short of CPU performance,
Are there any processes to limit or set up to reduce the load of CPU, MBX servers? It's temporary treatment...

What's the CU level you have for your Exchange 2013? Also, please check node runner processor as Node Runner process can cause CPU utilization issue. I would also suggest to check your disk IOPs as it looks like disk IOPs issue to me as well. Thanks.

  • Migration Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2013

    Hello,
I have 1 Exchange server 2013 (Mbx+Cas) and for some resons  I need to install one more Exchange server 2013 (Mbx+Cas) and I changed all of the virtualdirectory's link, I changed Autodiscover internal URL. When I check Client Outlook Test E-mail
Auto configuration I see autodiscover links shows old server's name. Thats why I can't  turn off the old server. in Outlook Test E-mail Auto Configuration how can I change Autodiscover to https:\\...... link? thanks in advance

    Hi
Have you moved the mailboxes to the new server? You can install a new server and gradually move the mailboxes. you will need to setup your urls, autodiscover record in DNS etc.

  • Exchange 2013 / 2013 Coexistence - OWA rendering on 2010 CAS for 2013 Mailbox

So I'm running Exchange 2013 CU2v2 alongside Exchange 2010 SP3 (both on top of 2008 R2 SP1) and I'm having a bit of a weird thing happen when migrating test users from Exchange 2010 to 2013.
After migrating a user from a database on the 2010 server to a database on the 2013 server, when you access OWA (through a url pointing at the 2013 server), it still appears to render on the 2010 CAS (and functions normally). If you click ? > About it
shows properly that the mailbox server is the 2013 server, but the host address and client access server are still the old 2010 server. It seems that after a few hours it fixes itself. ECP, however, renders properly on the 2013 server immediately after migration.
The migration completes successfully with no errors, and outlook connects fine after migration, hitting the 2013 CAS.
I thought maybe this had to do with the Exchange Information Systems Cache, as in 2010 this was occasionally an issue:
    http://www.terminal.com/blog/bid/70313/Moving-Mailboxes-During-an-Exchange-Migration
but the mailbox will still render on the 2010 CAS even after restarting the ExchangeIS service.
I should also note that this behavior DID NOT occur with Exchange 2013 CU1 alongside 2010, and only started happening after upgrading to CU2v2.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this is happening and what I can do to make it transition quickly to render OWA against the new mailbox? Thanks!

    Exact same symptoms here;
    Single site, 1 Exchange 2013 CU3 on 2012 Server, 1 Exchange 2010 SP3 as source for migration;
Exchange 2013 configured as external access 'cas' owa etc. and proxy to 2010.
Accessing an 2010 mailbox thu 2013 works correctly (OWA, ECP, ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere etc.)
Created new mailbox on 2010, migrated to 2013 and this mailbox is accessed/proxied thru OWA 2010. Strangely this mailbox is hosted on the proxying 2013 server now but still gets proxied. ECP for this user does instantly connect to the correct 2013 server.
The 2010 OWA connecting to 2013 mailbox server: help | about:

Authentication type associated with this Outlook Web App session: Basic
Authentication type for Exchange Client Access server to Client Access server proxy session: Negotiate

So to me is that the 2013 server is still proxying to 2010 and the 2010 CAS is accessing the mailbox on 2013 ;).
This even when the mailbox is moved on the 2013 server itself!!
    How strange is this?!

  • Exchange 2013/2010 coexistence DAG functionality?

Hi, so this is a bit of a silly question. But I need to make sure I understood the situation correctly.
I currently have an Exchange 2010 DAG with 2 servers and I am mid way through (In the Exchange Server Deployment Assistant) introducing my first Exchange 2013 server.
The plan is to make the new 2013 server the active DAG member one of the old 2010 servers the passive member for a short term until that 2010 server is rebuilt to 2013, but that's not going to work is it? Once I migrate a 2010 user to a 2013 database, that
user only exists in 2013, right?
Theres no way of adding a 2013 database into a 2010 DAG, so that if the 2013 server is down, the 2010 server will become active?
    Thanks

No, there is not.  You will build a new Exchange 2013 DAG and move mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 mailbox databases.

    Hello,
If I try to add an Excel Access Web Part to a page I get the following:
**Note: This only happens with sites that were migrated from 2010 SharePoint to SharePoint 2013. If I create a new site the feature works like it should and loads the workbook. I've tested this on several sites, our environment is enterprise as well. Being

  • Migrating from Shared/Hosted Exchange 2010 to Onsite Exchange 2013

    Hi All,
Hoping for some advice regarding a migration project I'm due to run with. A client has their current email data with a 3rd party hosted Exchange platform, this is a completely separate platform from their onsite AD infrastructure.
Platform wise it is built on Exchange 2010 that only really allows OWA/Outlook Anywhere/ActiveSync access. We'd like to migrate this platform to a more dedicated onsite Exchange 2013 platform.
Any software tools or advice appreciated, we're hoping to avoid exporting all the content to PST and manually importing but if this is the only way then fair enough. If there are utilities that may allow mailbox backfilling to suck the data out and in to
the new mailboxes in 2013 that would be awesome.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Exchange 2010 - Exchange 2013 permanent coexsistence to avoid migration of Public Folders

    Hi Guys,
I was hoping to get some opinions/ advices regarding the case explained below.
The company I work for has a medium-sized Exchange 2010 infrastructure that consists of several geographically dispersed 2-node DAGs and corresponding CASArrays. It hosts about 1000 mailboxes in total and large public folder database that is replicated on
every mailbox server in the environment. All users are using Outlook 2010/2013.
There is a business drive to perform migration to Exchange 2013. However, migration of the Public Folders is not feasible because of the lack of multimaster replication, the complicated migration process and several other limitations in Ex2013 PFs.
To work around this issue while still performing the migration I am considering the following scenario:
Deploy Exchange 2013 servers in the organization
Migrate all mailboxes to Exchange 2013 servers
Don't ever start migration of Public Folders (leave one Exchange 2010 mailbox server in every location for hosting the Public Folder database)
Keep the coexistence permanently (with mailboxes on 2013 and public folders on 2010)
What do you think of this setup? Do you see any issues with such long-term coexistence?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can leave the public folders on Exchange 2010 if you can’t migrate them to Exchange 2013. Exchange 2013 users can access public folders on Exchange 2010, but Exchange 2010 users can’t access public folders on Exchange 2013.

  • Questions about migrating Exchange 2010 to 2013

We currently have two Exchange 2010 servers with roles separated.  One local mailbox server without CAS in our building and a CAS with no mailboxes in a remote datacenter.
We plan to migrate to 2013 with two new servers hosting all roles on each and then shut down the 2010 servers. There will be one local and one in a datacenter for Exchange 2013 so that either server could be individually restarted without internal LAN users
losing email access. (We do not want to open network access from the Internet to the onsite CAS). Is it practical to set it up this way?
How do we get the existing certificates (mail, autodiscover, and the local host name etc.) moved from the 2010 to the 2013 to the new servers when I assume they both must be running side by side for at least a short time while mailboxes are moved form 2010
to 2013?  Will we need to buy new SSL certificates since the local host machine names for the Exchange server 2013 servers will be new and there will be more than one CAS?

Most of the CAs allow issuing duplicate certificate (as if you are requesting for a new cert) for the servers running same application. If your CA doesn't provide duplicates you can export the certificate and import to Exchange2013. http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/06/29/import-cert-e2013/
In certificate you dont need your internal FQDN. Especially in future you wont be able to add your internal FQDN in your certificate as most of the CAs wont allow you to add internal FQDN.
When you migrate to exchange 2013 you just need to configure the external URLs of Ex2010 in Ex2013 for both (i.e. same URLs for internal and external URLs) and point your common name and autodiscover to Exc2013 as Ex2013 will proxy the requests to your legacy
Ex2010 server. i.e. Your client interface will be Ex2013.
Please check this it will help you configure Split DNS and configure your URLs
    http://exchange.sembee.info/2013/install/clientaccesshostnames.asp
    http://www.mustbegeek.com/configure-external-and-internal-url-in-exchange-2013/ GUI
Configure split DNS to resolve external name from internal network.
Keep both Ex2010 CAS and Ex2013 CAS servers till all get logged in atleast once to connect to Ex2013 mailbox automatically.
As your DAG stretched across the data centers make sure
your DAG is in DAC mode.

Ensure you use Exchange2013 SP1 as it is already released and available for download

Do you have a load balancer in place?
Regarding internet facing it depends.  You can configure CAS2013 server in DMZ if you wish to.

  • MS Exchange 2010 Sp3 Ent Migration to Exchange 2013

    Hello,
We currently have 2 Exchange 2010 SP3 servers in 1 DAG. Both servers host CAS, Mailbox and Hub Role.
I want to introduce a 3rd Exchange 2013 Server and slowly move users onto a new DAG I build in Exchange 2013.
Can I create a 3rd Exchange 2013 Server with CAS and Mailbox Server Role and make the 3rd Exchange server (2013) a member of the existing (2010) CAS array then slowly perform local move requests for users mailboxes
from my Exchange 2010 DAG to the Exchange 2013 DAG without any disruption to my outlook, OWA and AS clients?
    Exchange 2010 (Windows 2008 R2)
    Exchange 2013 (Windows 2012 R2 DataCenter)

    Hi,
In Exchange 2013, all Outlook connectivity (Internal and External) takes place over Outlook Anywhere(RPC/HTTP). Thus, CAS array which is used internal for RPC/TCP protocol (MAPI) no longer exists in Exchange 2013.
For your coexistence environment and the plan to migrate all mailboxes to Exchange 2013 in the future,
we need to set all virtual directories for CAS 2013 and enable Outlook Anywhere for Exchange 2010. If the mailbox is moved to Exchange 2013, the Outlook client would connect to the server which is set in Outlook Anywhere External host name
and Internal host name instead of CAS array. If all configurations are proper, CAS 2013 would also proxy the service requests for Exchange 2010 users.
