Migration export dvd missing in system copy process
Hi
1. We are doing system copy of XI 3.00 server that is based on SAP
Web AS 6.40.
2. I'm following the "Homogeneous and Hetrogeneous system copy for SAP
System based on SAp Web AS ABAp 6.40 patch collection" document.
Document version is 1.1 - July 11,2007.
3. I'm using R3load tool for system copy (page 40 to 49). I exported
the database (XDV) as per guide and now trying to re-import in XQA.
4. Central instance in XQa has been installed successfully and not i'm
stuck while installing the database instance. Process is looking for
"Migration export" dvd that i don't have.
Anyone get the same error? If someone suggest me the dvd number, i'll downlaod it from sapnet.
Regards
Amar
Hi Elena
Thanks for all your help. Refresh process of XQA from XDV is almost completed. XQA is up and java is working. Visual admin/ configtool are working good.
I'm getting one problem. When i run tcode 'sxmb_ifr', it open the XDV link (http://dbcixdv:57000/rep/start/index.jsp) instead of XQA (http://rx2n1v1:57400/rep/start/index.jsp).
Also Integration repository, integration builder, SLD are all pointing to XDV server (dbcixdv).
I changed all setting (ID,IR, SLD, RWB) in 'http://rx2n1v1:57400:exchangeProfile' and it fixed our problem but it also chnaged the XDV setting. Now XDV link is pointing to XQA server.
Here XDV and XQA are in two different hardware server.
Let me update pls how to fix this problem.
Regards
Amar

BW Powered On HANA - System Copy Process
Dear HANA Gurus,
Now we are on HANA 1.0 SPS03 Rev.21, and we also have a BW 7.3 SP05, running on Windows 2008 64 bit server, on Oracle 11.2.
We want to migrate the BW to HANA DB. Refering to note 1600929 (which is version in revision), the Export method with system copy (using HANA special options) seems fine.
However, not sure how the Import will be done in HANA? We will be creating a new BW on Windows again, and if it is system import it'll again create an Oracle based instance!
When and where it migrates to HANA DB?
Regards
Manish MadhavHello,
HANA conversion is heterogeneous system copy process (DB migration). You will export system on Oracle and then you will import into HANA. Of course you need to have proper CDs.
Here comes important question - did you signed up for SAP rampup? BW on HANA is not yet in Global Availability and only some customers are allowed to participate.
You can find required CDs at this location:
http://service.sap.com/swdc
Software Downloads
Installations and Upgrades
Browse our Download Catalog
SAP NetWeaver and complementary products
SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 powered by SAP HANA
BW ON HANA INSTALLATION 1.0
Installation
Downloads
If you cannot see these CDs - then you are not part of rampup and you need to wait until Global Availability.
If you can see these CDs - then you need to download them and use them to perform import.
I did not yet have opportunity to perform conversion myself (we still need to prepare our system to meed the requirements) but from SAP guides it is apparent that SAP HANA database is installed on one server (appliance) while ABAP is sitting on second server. (In other words - you should not have ABAP on same server as HANA.)
Also note that only ABAP stack can run on HANA.
And installation guide (here is for Windows):
http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001240932011E.pdf
In a standard system, all main instances except the SAP HANA database instance run on a single host.
See system copy guide for details:
http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001299452010E.pdf
SAP HANA database is available for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 ABAP only.

Hello,
We are getting ready to install new servers and we will be performing a homogenous copy process to the new servers which will have new names and ID on the network. We would like to run the new servers side by side with the current system so we can test. My questions are:
1) With the systems running on the network together and we are ready to cut over to the new servers, would I just need to backup and restore the DB to the new DB server? Or do I have to go through the whole system copy process again?
2) The first process we are using the R3Load because we have SQL 2000/Windows 2000. I understand the System Copy process with the Export file and then the migration (import) file, but do all of the post processes that are involved according to the System Copy guide have to be implemented again if I am able to simply restore the DB after doing the inital copy as described above?
3) Any thoughts to how I can accomplish running the servers together for awhile for testing then cutting over to the new ones? Any quick notes from the field that would help make this easier?
Thank you all so much,

JorgeThanks Manoj for your advice.
We had already checked the procedures, we are working based on the System Copy Guide: "System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 ABAP+Java".
I had to mention that source and target systems are HP-UX, 11.23, Itanium and the DataBase is Oracle 10.2.02.
The copy was made from a Central System (ABAP + Java) to a High-Availability System (ABAP + Java), and the problem appeared when copying the Central Instance.
Thanks in adavance.

ABAP +JAVA system copy process
Hello All,
We are in process of building a server from a existing ECC 6.0 ABAP + JAVA system.
We are using system copy process where we are restoring ABAP databse from source system.
My question is about the JAVA part.
How can we copy java part? Can we export only JAVA part from ECC 6.0 ABAP +JAVA system and import this to target server.
Please suugest the process.
Regards,
ManishHi Manoj,
When you are doing restore of your P(DUAL stack)system then it will automatically restores your ABAP and JAVA scehema table spaces(Normal usage). And If you are using sapinst then take a CI export(for file system/java settings etc) of your source system and then you have to import that in your target system later in the process. So this procedure will automatially serve for both ABAP and JAVA schemas. Importantly this procedue was highly recommended by SAP,so if you run into any issues then you can go ahead and raise a OSS msg.
Other guy already pasted the link for homogenious copy guides
But you can do your java export from command level also(with out using SAPINST) and later you can import it into your target system. This means you are exporting your JAVA schema table space and importing.Keep it in mind that you have to export your Target java scehema not source system .If you do so then its of no use because you have to perform all post steps for java stack also. You can export and import table j2ee table space from your OS level at DB host using "exp javascehma/pwd ........."(not a full fledged command) and then you do the same by perforing "imp........." after restore and recovery from your P(source) system. But this is not at all recommended by SAP but this will work!.
Let every one to know if you need anything more than this. -
System copy process of XI server
Hi
In our XI landscape, we have XI development server and XI production server. We would like to create the
XI Quality instance for testing. Also we want to refresh XI devepolment server from XI production server.
Here XI 3.00 is installed on Unix platform with Oracle 10g database (SAP WebAS 6.40).
Pls let me know the following:
1. Can i create the XI quality server with System copy option from XI production server? or do i have
to create XI quality server with the new installation? What would be the best option?
2. I 'm not able to get the system copy process of SAP Web AS 6.40 for XI. Pls forward me system copy
document or send me SAP link for the same. I have the System Copy document for system based on SAP NW 2004s SR1 ABAP+ JAVA. Can i use this document?

Installation Master DVD Distributed Java System Copy menu missing
Hello Gurus
We want to perfom an Java system copy of our EP 6.0 using sapinst
The source OS is Solaris 8.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2
The target OS is Solaris 10.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2
Our architecture is Distributed , CI is running on a system and DB server on another system.
For this operation we use the master DVD 51033746_12 but we have an issue in exporting the DB as the
Option for exporting the DB on a Distributed system is not displayed on the sapinst Menu .
We followed the last guide taken from sap 'Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 SR 1' and this option should be listed
Excerpt:
Choose the installation service SAP NetWeaver u201904 Support Release 1--> Java System --><DB> --> Distributed System --> Migration - Database Export.
Unfortunately the Distributed system is not displayed and though we are stuck at the export step .
I could not find any sapinst patches . Is it a known issue for Soalris system and is there a Workaround .
Thanks for your help
De Palma Lionel .Hello
Thanks for your answer . Unfortunately this option is not available as we are using a NW04 SR1 system , not a nw'2004's one . With the latest master install (Installation_Master_6.20_6.40_05_08 51033746_5 )we have the choice of
System copy Source --> Java system --> oracle --> Migration Data export
--> HA Java system --> oracle --> Migration Data export
System copy Target --> Java system --> oracle --> Central system-> Migration Data export
Target --> Java system --> oracle --> Distributed system -> Migration Target Central instance / Db instance install
The Distributed system is available for Import option but no for the export one .
My questions are :
- Can we use a master nw2004's master DVD for system copy on a Nw'04s one ?
- As the central instance is hosted on different system than DB instance , should I use the HA option ?

Emulated DS's appearing , info packs miss after system copy in 7.0 system
Hi All
We did a system copy of our BI dev system into a new installed BI 7.0
system. As part of the post refresh steps we ran the BDLS run.We noticed
that all the info packages were missing and the emulated data sources
appeared instead of 7.0 data sources..We tried to migrate one of the
emulated DS's and then all the info packages associated with that data
source were seen......Also the DTPS were inactivated bcoz of this and
we had to activate this manually.....But we have around 200 data
sources ...Could you please suggest a program/report/solution to
recover all the info packages and 7.0 data sources instead of migrating
each of them individually which is daunting task.......Hi,
It might be helpful for you to check the SAP note 1072206 and change administration connection accordingly.

Reducing time required for ABAP-only copyback (system copy) process
Our company is investigating how to reduce the amount of time it takes to perform a copyback (system copy) from a production ABAP system to a QA system. We use a similar process for all ABAP-only systems in our landscape, ranging from 3.1h systems to ECC6.0 ABAP-only systems on both DB2 and Oracle database platforms, and the process takes approximately two weeks of effort from end-to-end (this includes time required to resolve any issues encountered).
Here is an overview of the process we use:
u2022 Create and release backup transports of key system tables and IDu2019s (via client copy) in the QA system to be overwritten (including RFC-related tables, partner profile and IDOC setup-related tables, scheduled background jobs, archiving configuration, etc.).
u2022 Reconfigure the landscape transport route to remove QA system from transport landscape.
u2022 Create a virtual import queue attached to the development system to capture all transports released from development during the QA downtime.
u2022 Take a backup of the target production database.
u2022 Overwrite the QA destination database with the production copy.
u2022 Localize the database (performed by DBAu2019s).
u2022 Overview of Basis tasks (for smaller systems, this process can be completed in one or two days, but for larger systems, this process takes closer to 5 days because of the BDLS runtime and the time it takes to import larger transport requests and the user ID client copy transports):
o Import the SAP license.
o Execute SICK to check the system.
o Execute BDLS to localize the system.
o Clear out performance statistics and scheduled background jobs.
o Import the backup transports.
o Import the QA client copy of user IDu2019s.
o Import/reschedule background jobs.
o Perform any system-specific localization (example: for a CRM system with TREX, delete the old indexes).
u2022 Restore the previous transport route to include the QA system back into the landscape.
u2022 Import all transports released from the development system during the QA system downtime.
Our companyu2019s procedure is similar to the procedure demonstrated in this 2010 TechEd session:
http://www.sapteched.com/10/usa/edu_sessions/session.htm?id=825
Does anyone have experience with a more efficient process that minimizes the downtime of the QA system?
Also, has anyone had a positive experience with the system copy automation tools offered by various companies (e.g., UC4, Tidal)?
Thank you,
MattHi,
> One system that immediately comes to mind has a database size of 2TB. While we have reduced the copyback time for this system by running multiple BDLS sessions in parallel, that process still takes a long time to complete. Also, for the same system, importing the client copy transports of user ID's takes about 8 hours (one full workday) to complete.
>
For BDLS run, I agree with Olivier.
> The 2 weeks time also factors in time to resolve any issues that are encountered, such as issues with the database restore/localization process or issues resulting from human error. An example of human error could be forgetting to request temporary ID's to be created in the production system for use in the QA system after it has been initially restored (our standard production Basis role does not contain all authorizations required for the QA localization effort).
>
For the issues that you encounter because of system copy, you can minimize this time period as you would be doing it on periodic basis (making some task list) and you can make a note of issues that you faced in previous run. So, normally i don't count it as system copy time
Thanks

Dear Experts,
I am doing a homogenious system copy on ECC6 on windows plateform for STANDBY DATABASE .
I am some queries
1. I have taken the offline backup in sapbackup folder on source system ( backup taken on hard disk )
2. I have installed OS on target system .
3. Now I am installing Database oracle 10g on target system .
My query is
I will configure this system as a standy database for disaster recovery
1. in the starting of oracle installation , it is asking to give DATABASE SID
Is the SAP SID , database sid , schema should be same if we use the system as standby database ?
2. I have copied the sapbackup folder from source to target system .
It will ask to restore the backup in the mid of installation .
what will be the step by step process to restore offline backup from DISK.
pl. suggest.you mean to say
1. You have the install oracle and sap with with SID on target system with SAP's default database.
Fresh installation of sap on standby database server *not* system refresh . Is it ?
I was trying to make system refresh to create standby database server ( DR server ) . It is not required . am i right ?
2. Restore the backup using brtools or by manually copy the file to sapdata location.
After fresh installation of SAP , I have to restore the backup of primary server to standby server . Is it ?
3. Create the standby control file.
How ?
4. Apply archive the keep database in mount stage.
5. Apply archive to standby on regular basis.
You mean to say , i have to configure data guard for point 3 , 4 and 5 .
Pl. correct me -
DB2 Row compression activated - Any changes during System Copy process?
Hell All,
I have activated DB2 Row Compression.
Now i want to do a System Copy.
Any changes due to this feature in the regular System Copy procedure? Like using R3load fastload COMPRESS options?
Thanks,
BidwanHello Bidwan,
Please see the following blog regarding row compression:
/people/johannes.heinrich/blog/2006/09/05/new-features-in-db2-udb-v9--part-4
R3load has the new option '-loadprocedure fast COMPRESS'. Started with this option it loads part of the data, does a REORG to create the compression dictionary and then loads the rest of the data. This way the table does not grow up to it's full size before it is compressed. For more details see OSS note 886231.

Homogeneous System Copy process: PRD to QAS on MSSQL
We have a need to refresh our QAS system with a copy of PRD - the method I have been researching is a homogeneous database copy. I am having difficulty finding step-by-step documentation to carry this out for release R/3 4.6C.
The only client refreshes I have performed are through SCC9 or SCCL and the R/3 installation was done by a consultants - hence the need for good step-by-step documentation!
I should also note that our QAS system shares the same physical server as the DEV system.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.> I am assuming that I would be restoring the PRD database over the QAS database - this is where I am looking for additional documentation.
Use
http://service.sap.com/systemcopy
all necessary steps (+ the mentioned notes) are described there.

Also some of the other log files for other packages terminate with:" disconnected from db" in the middle of the export.
What I tried: I tried putting in the latest patch level for r3ldctl, r3load and r3szchk kernel files. It was at kernel patch 43. I upgraded to latest 175 from market place. And restarted sapinst again to start the export again. Again I face the same problem. Sapinst aborts at this stage again. I basically took the whole sapexedb patch 175 and yupdated the kernel but it did not help.
If any of you out there can lead me in the right direction so that I can get over this stumbling block, would be grateful.
Many Thanks, Vikram

Hello,
I'm going to clone my xi. As I'm reading the homogeneous and heterogenous system copy for java and abap. I'm to the following conclusion. I need to do a oracle server specific copy. And do a sid rename on db level and in abap side with se06.
but what about the java part? and what about the xi msg's that are in the systems and the adapters? Should i disable some adapters? and so on.
In the java system copy there are some configur ation steps for xi. telling about sld integration server, exchange profile,cache,... but they are not telling about the msg's that still are in the system.
What are the steps that I'm missing?
ChrisHi Chris,
you should use the Installation Master DVD to perform the System copy, There are 2 options to do the system copy;
1) Export preparation
Description Optional step for preparing the export of a SAP NetWeaver 2004s Support Release 1 system. The export preparations are required, if: you want to build up the target system up to the point where the database load starts, before the export of the source system has finished export and import processes should run in parallel during the system copy process Export Preparations The following steps will be performed:
Creating the export directory structure with label files and source system information
Creating database structure files (.STR) Updating database statistics (depending on the database platform and the selected dialog option) Size calculation for the target database (.EXT, DBSIZE.XML)
2) Database and Central Instance Export
Description First mandatory step of a system copy procedure. The following steps will be performed: Creating the export directory structure with label files and source system information (if required) Creating database structure files (.STR) for ABAP database objects Updating database statistics (depending on the database platform and the selected dialog option) Size calculation for the target database (.EXT, DBSIZE.XML)
Exporting the ABAP and / or Java database content Archiving the SDM
Archiving application specific file system content

Homogeneous System Copy using DB6 specific procedure
Hello all,
I'd like to do homogeneous system copy from source system(hostname: host01) to target system(hostname: host02) using DB2 backup/restore procedure.
Because SAP database has some tables related their hostname, I think it cause some conflicts between target system's hostname(host02) and the records in the new database on target system(it still remains "host01").
Can I avoid this conflicts if I use DB6 redirected restore method?
Or do I have to do R3load export/import like hetero system copy?
I know I can start SAP system when I set SAPLOCALHOST=host01 in instance profile on host02, but is there any other good workaround?
I wonder how you will do if you face this situation.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Regards, IkueHi dirk,
Thank you for your reply.
As you mentioned, System copy often brings changing hostname, so the post processing in the SAP's Guide should cover all of influences.
I had thought SAP database does not contain hostname entries anymore, but, I found one table which contains DBHOST name in ECC database: SAP<SID>.DB6NAVSYST
ex) SID=ST8, hostname=athens
athens:db2st8 66> db2 "select DBHOST from SAPST8.DB6NAVSYST"
DBHOST
athens
1 record(s) selected.
Can I believe these entries will be adjusted during System Copy operation along SAP's Guide(both DB2 backup/restore and R3load)?
If Yes, when does adjusting occur? (at post processing or during SAPinst?)
I have very negative impression of changing hostname of SAP system since I read Note 8307...
Does SAP support change hostname if I do System Copy?
Best regards,
Ikue
