  • OS Migration from AS/400 to AIX

    Hello,
We are doing OS Migration of our 4.5 server from As/400 to AIX 5...
I wanted to know whether it is possible to use method UNSORTED UNLOAD on AS/400 platform...
DB size is around 1 TB, so it would help a lot if we can do it through UNSORTED UNLOAD...
    Can someone kindly confirm...
    Thanks & Regards,
    RaHuL's

    Hello RaHuL's,
this setup is not really platform dependent ... it depends on the tables ... So, RFBLG is not an option e.g.
I do have in mind, that the exclusion is not automated on 4.5B - but I'm not sure right now.
If you know, which tables need to be exported with sort, you could go for it.

  • Migrate from db2/400 (V5R2) to Oracle

    Greetings!
We are looking at helping a customer migrate their DB2/400 (V5R2M0) database to Oracle (planned for 10gR2).
I see there is a Migration Workbench offering for the lower revisions (v4r3) as well as for DB2/UDB, however nothing for V5R2M0.
There are over 1500 files (tables) to convert so we don't want to have to do a dump & load.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!!

    Jim,
I work for a group in Oracle Server Technologies that focuses on legacy (mainframe and midrange) modernization. There are three options from Oracle:
    1. Oracle Data Integrator (was Sunopsis) - This product is completely written in Java so it can even run on the iSeries/AS400. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle-data-integrator/index.html
    2. Oracle ransparent Gateway for DB2/400 - Can execute qeuries directly against DB2 to migration the data. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/gateways/tg4db2400.htm
    3. OWB (Oracle Warehouse Builder) - This is an ETL offering from Oracle. Two options for moving the data FTP (and load the flat files) or if you have an ODBC driver on the iSeries can use this with OWB. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/index.html
Hope this helps. My team is hear to help with legacy modernizations so don't hestitate to contact me at [email protected]

  • Chnaging logical file path - Migrated from As/400 to wintel

    Hi,
How do i change the default file path of logical file .
I need to change path of a logical file in MI34 tcode from  C:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\global  to out new Virtually created directory.
Recetly We moved from OS/400 to WINTEL environment
I wenin to FILE transaction but still it it looking at
C:\usr\sap\DEV\SYS\global??? How do i over write it?
    Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Vara,
to change the default logical file path , you need to change in Program. since this is standard program, you need to copy into 'Z' program and change. This is one option.
Better to do is, change the physical path of the Logical file path in FILE transaction. may be this will work.
    All the Best.

  • Migration from OS/400 (iseries) case in-sensitive OS to UNIX (AIX) case sensitive

Apparently as400 is not case sensitive OS, AIX is so this is causing issues after the migration to UNIX (AIX).  What do you recommend for analysis of what will need correction in SAP system - config / tables entries / variants / code?  Is there a way to make UNIX files case insensitive?

    Hi Vinoth,
    Source System:
    SAP Application:     Solution Manager 7.1
    Database          :     DB2 UDB for iseries 7.1
    OS                   :     OS/400
    Target System:
    SAP Application:     Solution Manager 7.1
    Database          :     DB2 LUW 9.7
    OS                   :     Rethat Linux 6
Above migration path is possible and support in SAP. For more details on compatibility please refer PAM www.service.sap.com/PAM

  • Migration from Developer 4.5 to  Developer 6i

    Hello,
I want to migrate a Oracle forms 4.5 application to developer 6i.
The Forms 4.5 application has been built by using headstart 3.4.2. The application runs on a client-server architecture
Is it possible to migrate to developer 6i without changing the used headstart version and the architecture.
I already heard that we might be some problems with visual attributes in client-server environment ?
who can give me some more information about this combination of architecture and used software and tools ?

    Hi,
I would contact Oracle Developer support.

    Current Platform :  windows 2003,oracle 10g , ecc6.0
    Target :  Windows 2008 R2 , oracle 11g , ecc6.0
The process we are going to follow is system copy (Import/Export)
what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
What about the kernel and Export ?
Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.
    Thanks,

  • Cross platform migration from hp unix to sun

    Hi
recently we have done cross platform migration from hp unix to sun (10g R2 RAC +ASM). It was a challenging experience to complete the migration in 8 hours downtime for a database of about 2 TB.
I would like to share the experience , so that it would be hepfull to others and i would learn more new techniques for improvement .
    source environment:
    HP-UX -ITANIUM - 2 node RAC - 10g R2 - Oracle clusterware - ASM - Heavily loaded all the time .
    Destination Env:
    Sun solaris 10 - 2 node RAC - 10g R2 - Oracle Clusterware - ASM
Total Downtime available : 6 hours.
    Steps followed
    1. snapshot backup of source database on a intermediate HP-Unix box. (stage area)
    2. recover the database and start the rman image backup on to disk in stage area.
    3. mount this filesystem locally (Veritas ) on to one of the node in the destination env.
    4. Mount this filesystem as NFS on second node using a cross cable between both of them (we can use interconnect VLAN also here)
    5. Keep applying the archive logs from source env till the downtime .
    5. startup nomount the database , change the datafile names from ASM to RMAN image copy files and mount.
    6. start rman convert statements and pump into the already exisitng ASM nodes with parallel sessions as much as possible (with 35 sets (513 datafiles) we were able to pump 2 TB data in 4.5 Hrs) - only system and undo datafiles need a convert statements (platform migration ) others would need a file system to ASM conversion only.
    7. alter database open resetlogs in the destination environment.
    8. create services manually and start the application.
we were given very less time to decide upon this stategy , By gods grace we were able to complete it .
I got a doubt while we are chalking out this plan .
can we connect to ASM instance remotely and pump data from one ASM to another ASM. It seems it is not possible , just a wild thought.
Let me know if you see any more improvements in this.
    Thanks
    Naveen samala

  • Migration from G4 w/firewire 400 to G5

I am trying to migrate from my old Dual 1gig G4 which is Firewire 400 to my new G5. Whenever I plug in a Firewire 400 cable in any firewire port the G5 turns itself off. Do I need a Firewire 800 cable?

    Ivan Victor-
Yes there is a difference. If the end of the cable looks similar to a USB connector rounded at one end then it is FW400. A FW800 is more squared.
These are USB connectors and should not be the ones that you are using: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=43004
    Here is a look at a FW400 cable: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58207
I can't find a picture of a FW800, but the G4 doesn't have one so it shouldn't matter. What does matter is that each end of the cable looks the same.
By the way-are you using the built in firewire ports on the G4 or is this an add-on card?
    Luck-

  • HT4889 Trying to migrate from Mac-mini Tiger to Mac-mini Lion and Migration Assistant cannot find my Firewire, 400 to 800, "T" disk although it show up in the new Mac's computer folder. Help

Trying to migrate from Mac-mini Tiger to Mac-mini Lion and Migration Assistant cannot find my Firewire, 400 to 800, "T" disk although it shows up in the new Mac's computer folder. It seems that Mac-mini Tiger is as it should be and the firewire cable is OK.  Something about the Migration Assistant is being missed, but I have no idea what it is.
    Help

Addendum: I read on a post here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=420169) about removing some kext files in order to trick OSX into thinking that there were no FireWire ports.
I followed the instructions and removed from /System/Library/Extensions/ the following files:
    IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext
    IOFireWireAVC.kext
    IOFireWireFamily.kext
    IOFireWireIP.kext
    IOFireWireSBP2.kext
I restarted and BAM...Snow Leopard booted crazy fast and the mouse and keyboard worked instantly.
The System Profiler says "No FireWire ports were found."
So this tells me that the FW port is probably the culprit and is messing up the installation.
So how do I hack the Mountain Lion installer and tell it to ignore the FW port, which is obviously quite dead? Or is there something I can do to the Base system that is similar?

  • I am migrating from my old black MacBook to a new MacBook pro over wifi but why does it take SO Long...?  I have about 400 gig to transfer and it says 80 hours!  Can this be right?  Is there a faster way?  Is there a way to cancel the migration?

I have an old black MacBook (2006) and want to migrate to my new MacBook pro i7. The migration assistant offered me the prospect of migrating via wifi.  Stated at 108 hours to transfer about 400 gig. Now revised down to 85 hours. Why is this so so so long??  Is there a faster way?  What happens if I cancel now.  Is there a way to cancel? As there is no cancel button....
Ay suggestion sighing the next 80 hours very much appreciated.

The 2006 MacBook has firewire. Use a cable like this. Boot the '06 with the T key held down until you see the Firewire icon. Connect the 400 port on the '06 to the 800 port on the i7. Run Migration Assistant. 400 GB will still take a long time, but it will be closer to 8 hours I think.
