Migration from Captain Mail to Office 365

We are planning to migrate mailbox from Captain Mail (Linux based open source) to office 365 for 800 users. Currently customer have mailbox in local machine as PST. Customer wants to disable local clients and access mails through OWA only. Please
let me know any migration tools available to do the same.
Thanks in Advance.

For migration tools, you could likely pull the mail from the server using a third party tool like "MigrationWiz".  Alternatively, if you're looking to pull the mail from the user's PST, you could use the PST Capture tool (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36789).
That tool is not multi-threaded though and I can't see doing that for 800 users.
To restrict users to OWA, you could disable MAPI, IMAP and POP3 on the mailbox:

  • Migrate from Google Apps to Office 365 with admin credentials only

    Hi team,
We are migrating from Google Apps to Office 365. I know the normal procedure of migrating, but I want to know how to migrate from gmail to office 365 with administrator credentials. Normally for migration, we use user's mail ID and password in CSV file.
But I don't want to use users credentials, instead I want to use only Administrator credentials.
    Thanks in Advance...

A third party tool such as MigrationWiz can accomplish this task.  More information on how to set up administrative access can be found here:

  • Error Creating New Migration Endpoint: Staged Migration from Exchange 2003 to Office 365

I am unable to create a new migration endpoint, receiving the following message:
    ***BEGINQUOTE***
    error
We couldn't discover the migration endpoint. Consider using the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer (https://testexchangeconnectivity.com) to diagnose the connectivity issues.
    ***END QUOTE***
When I visit the test connectivity site and perform the Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP) test, I don't get any errors.
Where do I go from here?

Well... I think I may look silly.
I kept pounding at this problem and discovered the following: in the exchange server box I needed to put the local computer name of my exchange server instance.  In the RPC Proxy server, I needed to put the public domain name of the server.  So
in the first box I just have "mycomputername" and in the second box I have "mail.mydomain.com"  Now it works... I think.

  • How to move from EOP to Hybrid Office 365 configuration?

I have a customer that just completed their transition from FOPE to EOP.  Everything is working, but the customer would like to move all Exchange 2010 mailboxes to Exchange Online.  They already have licenses, and have more than 2000 seats.  A
cutover migration is not possible, so a hybrid migration is my only choice.  I have been unable to find any documentation on this scenario (EOP-to-Hybrid).
Does anyone have any references or documentation that points to the correct steps to make this transition?  Some blogs indicate that the only way to make this work is to point the MX record elsewhere, remove the existing EOP connectors, and have the
    Hybrid configuration wizard re-create them.
Any help here is appreciated!  Thanks.

    Hi
Your question is not that easy to be answered since the planning and migrating depends upon the current environment setup, status and everything.
However you can  follow this conitious thread step by step for Migrating from Exchange 2013 to Office 365 which will help you to plan accordingly to your environment
    http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/office-365/exchange-online/configuring-exchange-2013-hybrid-deployment-and-migrating-office-365-exchange-online-part11.html
I would recommend you to open up a ticket with Microsoft for a hassle free migration from Exchange 2013 to O365
But for migration from Notes to o365 we need some kind of third party softwares like Quest Tools to throttle the process quickly and also you need to set few throttling policies in Exchange end as well inorder to integrated well with Microsoft Cloud
during Migration process. Its better you can open up a ticket with Microsoft and Quest for planning the migration acording do your needs and proceed.

  • Apple Mail with Office 365 Exchange server

Is anyone here using Apple Mail with Office 365 Exchange server on Mountain Lion? I have just upgraded to Mt Lion and decided to switch from Outlook to Apple Mail.app. My account was added successfully. Even contacts, calendar, tasks and notes work very well. My problem with Mail.app is that it does not sync any emails in subfolders prior to the day I added the account to Mail. For any older emails I have to open Outlook for Mac and look it up there. Other than this issue Mail is working well for all new incoming and outgoing emails.
    Thanks

I Found a workaround.  Please look at this other link:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6615135

  • Does any one know how to Disable/Hide "BCC" from outlook/owa in office 365?

    Hi,
Does any one know how to Disable/Hide "BCC" from outlook/owa in office 365?
    Thank You.

    Hi Kavin,
You can try the below steps on the OWA server box,
search for this file name in explorer
    File name: "messageoptionsdialog.aspx"
    open this file in notepad
search for "chkbcc" you'll find something like this "input type="checkbox" id="chkBcc"
you need to update the LINE BEFORE IT to <td style="visibility:hidden">
Try this and let me now if this worked
Although I've not tried this for the OUTLOOK client, you can try this and check if you need
But this has worked for OWA for one of my client
I'm also not very sure if this can be achieved on all of your outlook users from a server admin point of view, coz this is a client feature and not a user specific active directory attribute.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Migrate exchange data from on-premise to Office 365

    Hi,
I have a customer with Exchange 2007 server with around 300 mailboxes. The customer has decided to go to O365 with hosted email and they have setup DirSync to synchronise the AD users and password. However they would now like me to migrate the exchange mailbox
data from the on premise server to the cloud can anyone please offer any advise with doing this?

    Hi,
Base on my research, I recommend you refer to the following article to migrate the mailboxes:
Exchange 2007 cutover migration to the NEW Office 365
A cutover migration is the simplest way to get all your existing email into Office 365. As the name implies, it’s a cutover from one service to another. Cutover migrations are supported for Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010; for organizations with fewer than
1000 mailboxes. The setup and process is straightforward and nothing complicated. With any successful migration, some planning and testing of existing infrastructure is invaluable. Make sure that you plan and test the migration prior to trying to implement.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Migrating from Linux Mail to Exchange 2013

Is there any official documents of the Best Practices of migrating Linux Mail (Exim) to Exchange 2013?
I appreciate any help that I can receive. Thanks in advance.
    My best regards.

    Hi,
Basic on my research, I’m afraid that there is no tool for this kind of migration, we may need to start from PST file.
We can use Microsoft Exchange PST Capture to search for PST files on computers in your organization and then import those files to mailboxes in your organization, for your reference:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh781036(v=exchg.141).aspx

  • Email address missing from account info in Office 365 exchange console, unable to access inbox

    Hi
we have successfully migrated our on premise Exchange environment to Office 365. We came from a 3 domain environment and we are having some issues accessing accounts. I have tried to add the smtp:[email protected] address using ADSI Edit but after
DirecSync, I'm not able to locate this address on the account. is there a different way to add email address to Office 365 accounts?

I would recommend asking them in Office 365  forum: http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/default.aspx

  • Migration from Windows Live to Office 2010-POP3 email accounts

So I was attempting to migrate a few emails, specfically old email messages from Windows Live to Office 2010. I could not migrate using the obvious tool since I'm not using Microsoft exchange. I used windows live exporting abilities, but it saves to the
desktop. Is there another way to export the data from Windows Live Mail to Office 2010.

You can export your Windows Live Mail to Outlook using manual methods which are properly described here
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158/t/212929.aspx
But if you want to export using third party tools then download an efficient eml to pst conversion tool from

  • Trouble connecting using Mac mail for Office 365

Microsoft says OS 10.9.4 is not supported for an exchange mail account for Mac Mail.  I'm using OSX 10.9.4 and Mac Mail 7.3 and previously had an exchange account but upgraded to Office 365 through my workplace. I was able to send and receive but now the connection doctor is saying the Exchange  account "Could not connect to this Exchange server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the 'Use SSL' checkbox in the Advanced tab.
The problem I've having as well is that the emails are not saved in my sent folder. The only settings that haven't been updated are under the 'Advanced' settings which are: Internal Server Path, Internal Port, External Server Path, External Port.

MobileMe IMAP server “mail.me.com” rejected the password
This is doing EXACTLY what I would expect it to.
You need Lion for iCloud which it should warn you when you do the me.com/move routine.
    It's still fixable though:

  • Has anyone completly migrated/moved SBS 2008 to Office 365 ?

    Hello All,
We have a client with SBS 2008 and would like to moe all AD/ emails / data / possibly some 3rd party applications  like QuickBooks (This is not confirmed yet) to office 365 and once moved would like to decommission the SBS 2008 box so from that
point onwards everything including AD authentication would be done via office 365.
I have seen articles/information about moving exchange/data etc. but not the whole  infrastructure to office 365 and depend entirely on office 365 without any onsite servers.
Has anyone tested this method? if so please let me know your feedback.
Also what are the cons of depending solely on office 365 apart from the obvious , office365 or internet outages , lack of full control etc.
    Regards,
    Dhanushka

First off that's not possible.  Unless the application can run natively inside SharePoint, Office 365 does not give you NTFS file share platform for which to install QuickBooks.
Email and SharePoint yes.  Native file shares no.
What can be done however is look over to Azure.  On Azure you can turn on Remote desktop services, host a file sharing server in Azure/then host desktops in azure, use the Essentials role to hook into Office 365.
But bottom line what you think can be done in 365, can't all be done in 365.  It needs Azure.

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite, my Apple Mail runs super slow.  I use Office 365 / Exchange.  It brings in headers, but the contents sometimes takes up to 2-10 minutes to load.  Sometimes I will delete an email and it takes a few mins to disappear.  Look below and you'll see the 1st 2 emails have been in my inbox for 8 minutes now, but still no content.  the other 2 that are older finally got content.  This has never happened before and seriously slowing me down at work cause I have to wait until content loads to see what the email says.  This is not good!!

  • Office not receiving mail fro Office 365

I recently started using Outlook 365 on line. When I first connected it to Outlook all the recent messages were downloaded into Outlook. The following day I receive nothing. Outlook 365 techs told me to reinstall it. I did, same problem.  Then they
told me to sync 365 and Outlook. I did, same problem.  I can send but can't receive messages through Outlook. Outlook tells me I'm connected to Microsoft Exchange and mailbox is up to date, but nothing is being received.

    Hi Richard,
As per the description, I understand that you are not able to receive messages through Outlook, but can send.
Please first check on Outlook Web App, and see if there are any new messages show up there. If it arrives in the web based mailbox, this could indicate a sync issue or a corruption in your mail profile.
If you are in Cached Exchange Mode currently, try to switch to Online Mode and see if it works correctly now.
Please have a try and feel free to post back with any findings, we will take a further look then.

It's recommended to download and install
