First they have done MIGO for the CAPWIP asset no 21700500019 on 18.03.2008 but this asset was trasnferred to Main Asset 214009000454 asset thru AIBU ON 20.03.2008 .Now the asset 21700500019 is deactivated on 25.03.2008, depn run also run for this Main asset.
Now while doing MIRO system says " can not post the 21700500019 asset number deactivated "

I am planning a migration from classic to new g/l, but this fiscal year it will be not possible to finish phase 0 (from migration model plan). Is it possible to do it in the middle of the new fiscal year, what are the withdrawls or issues? what do you recommend me? What strategy can I use?

Hi Silvia,
There is differnce in migration date & activation date. Migration date will always be the firts day of new fiscal year.
But as on migration date you have to bring your config changes to PRD.

Migration from Classic to Extended Classic

Hi all,
I would be grateful if you could let me know what is technically involved in migrating from classic to extended classic. We are using SRM 4.
I would also like to know how long this would take and any cost information and an impact on any current master data and new data that would need to be set up.

Migration from Classic GL to newGL

Hi All,
We are planning to migrate from classic GL to newGL, in this regard we have come across SAP Note 1070629 (FAQs: New general ledger migration) and point 43 in this note says it is not possible to make any postings to previous fiscal year.
Our audit for the fiscal year 2009 & 2010 is not yet finalized and user is required to make posting into these previous fiscal years.
Our question is that is it possible to make any entries in these previous years after migration to newGL.
I hope many of you might have come across such situation in newGL migration project. Could you please share your experience on how to handle this critical issue.

A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
1. Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
2. Screensavers written for the PowerPC System Preference add-ons
3. All Unsanity Haxies Browser and other plug-ins
4. Contextual Menu Items
5. Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5 Kernel extensions
6. Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries

For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro , SuperDuper , and Drive Genius work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.

If you want to use Time Machine to recover the contents of one of its a backups to a new drive, follow the instructions in Mac OS X 10.6: Recovering your entire system. Note that you must select the "Restore System From Backup" option from the Utilities menu of the Installer disc to do this.
Also note that if you are transferring files to a hard drive to be used with a different computer, you should use Migration Assistant instead. This intentionally will not copy everything because some settings, applications, etc. are not compatible computer-to-computer. Migration Assistant will copy everything that is.

As noondaywitch says, it should use the latest backup.
Where are your backups (external HD, Time Capsule, etc.)?
It sounds like there are two separate sets, and you're not connected to the right set.

Migration from G4 Powerbook(partitioned) to new IMAC

I am tried to use Migration today, from G4 Titanium DVI Powerbook(partitioned) #1 MacTiger 10.4.11- 14GB, #2 OSX 9.9GB, #3 OS9 4GB to my new IMAC that I have had for a couple of weeks. When I had to enter the name info, it kept on telling me that I had to change the names as they were already existing. Began migration and it ran for 3 hours or more then stopped with 2 hours 58 minutes remaining on the clock. I let it go for over another hour. Nothing happening. Tried to cancel but 3 new icons were on my IMAC desktop. Rainbow wheel goes round and round etc. on IMAC. I then held down the power button on the G4 to power off. The 3 new icons on my IMAC desktop, I dragged them to the trash. I'm all in a sweat just writing this down. Who would like to hold my hand as I walk through the valley of the shadow........

I'm not sure what you are asking. Yes you can change the name of a user account, but it's a bit complicated. It would be easier to simply transfer the files as I've outlined rather than trying to use Migration Assistant which will attempt to transfer everything in the user account, which is ill-advised. There are PPC components in your old system that you do not want moved to the new computer. PPC components can gum up the works on an Intel system.
Migration Assistant is an excellent tool but it's not the right tool when you are migrating from a PPC Mac to an Intel one. See the following:

Depends on how much you need to migrate. Ethernet is not the fastest. FireWire is faster - Target Disk Mode - and is what you will need to do using Migration Assistant. However, there are some caveats when migrating from a PPC to an Intel Mac:

How can I stop a migration from ext. HD to new HD on a MacBook? It hangs up @ 3 min. Left each time.

I am trying to add a Ned HD. In my MacBook '08 unibody? It has been installedand formattd. When migrating from old hard drive to Mac, it stops with 3 min. remaining. Tried 3 times. Same results. What can I do?

If you want the sound to only play once when the key is pressed then you don't want to have it in the ENTER_FRAME event handler like you have it. It is starting new sounds at the frame rate of your file the way you have it now.
Try having an event listener dedicated to a KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN event where you detect when the UP key gets pressed and use that to trigger playing the sound.

I Photo will not update after migrating from old I-Mac to new I-Mac with fusion drive

I just migrated from 2009 I-Mac with Mountain Lion to New I-Mac with Mountain Lion with migration Assistant. Now... I tunes will not update although Apple says one is available

a couple of things - you should not "migrate" applications - you should use the new ones that come preinstalled - what version of of iPhoto do you have on your new mac?
Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

Cat-5 is just a speed rating for the Ethernet cable (higher number means faster). If you look closely at the cable, the rating is usually printed along its length. Cat-5 will give you at least 100 mbps. Cat-5e or Cat-6 will allow gigabit (1000 mbps) speed. The recent Macs all have gigabit Ethernet ports. Your eMac probably has 100Base-T (100 mbps) Ethernet, which is sill pretty fast for networking.
Can I use the ethernet cable from that connects my cable modem to my iMac?
Yes. You can use any old cable, and it will work as long as the cable is not broken. The speed rating of the cable may limit the file transfer speed.
If you use Ethernet, you are making the connection using +File Sharing+ over the network.
If you wait and use that FireWire adapter, you can use +File Sharing+, but it would be better to start the eMac using FireWire Target Disk Mode (as mentioned earlier), and mount the eMac's hard drive directly to the iMac's desktop. The eMac's hard drive will appear to be an external FireWire drive.

Migration from old macbook air to new macbook air...beware

Although spent hours on the phone with Apple and bought necessary cables, they were not able to get migration assistant to work using ethernet.
You can't use firewire as new macbook air doesn't have it. You can use thunderbold as old macbook air doesn't have it.
Finally I was told to use Time Machine. After connecting old macbook air backup to new macbook air and using migration assistant, I got a message saying (essentially) 'you can use this from an old mac'. Spent more time on the phone with Senior tech support. They had no clue.
Finally called the store. Genius said, you can't migrate from old macbook air with Snow Leopard to new macbook air with Lion. You must upgrade old macbook air to Lion first.
GEEZ, do you think someone at tech support might have mentioned that DAYS ago?

That is bad info.
The MBA that I am using right now used a TM backup from my old MBP, which was running Snow Leopard. Absolutely no problems using Setup Assistant to import all the apps, data, user settings. The session performed flawlessly, and took about an hour to move everything.
If at all possible, use Setup Assitant, rather than Migration Assistant. The transition will be seamless.
