Migration from Classic to Extended Classic
Hi all,
I would be grateful if you could let me know what is technically involved in migrating from classic to extended classic. We are using SRM 4.
I would also like to know how long this would take and any cost information and an impact on any current master data and new data that would need to be set up.
Many thanks.

Migration from Classic GL to newGL
Hi All,
We are planning to migrate from classic GL to newGL, in this regard we have come across SAP Note 1070629 (FAQs: New general ledger migration) and point 43 in this note says it is not possible to make any postings to previous fiscal year.
Our audit for the fiscal year 2009 & 2010 is not yet finalized and user is required to make posting into these previous fiscal years.
Our question is that is it possible to make any entries in these previous years after migration to newGL.
I hope many of you might have come across such situation in newGL migration project. Could you please share your experience on how to handle this critical issue.

Migration Date when migrating from classic to new g/l
Hello gurus,
I am planning a migration from classic to new g/l, but this fiscal year it will be not possible to finish phase 0 (from migration model plan). Is it possible to do it in the middle of the new fiscal year, what are the withdrawls or issues? what do you recommend me? What strategy can I use?
Thanks,
Silvia GuillenHi Silvia,
There is differnce in migration date & activation date. Migration date will always be the firts day of new fiscal year.
But as on migration date you have to bring your config changes to PRD.

E-mail accounts setup - migrating from classic & webstar to panther
I used workgroup manager to set up accounts, enabled e-mail & selected server but when I use system admin to look at the mail email accounts none show up also I can't see any users for the ftp server. The appropriate domains have been created. I've read every thing I can get my hands on yet I'm missing something. I'm finally upgrading my server to os x from classic running webstar4.5. Any help would be appreciated. John
E-mail accounts will only show up in Server Admin once they have either received mail or been accessed via IMAP.

Migrating from SRM 7.0 Classic to ECS - Seeking some clarifications
Hello Friends,
We are now planning to upgrade from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0 and then migrated to Classic to ECS. We have the below challenging points which I need clarification,
1) How do we go about the Taxation and Pricing Part, If we migrate from Classic to ECS
2) Presently we have R/3 contracts in place and the same is linked to MDM catalogue and now the client wants the contracts to
be in SRM. In that case how do we go about the strategy.
3) Asset Procurement: Now all WBS element are converting into assets by running the Z-Program in between PR and PO in R/3
system. But when we migrate to ECS PO gets created in SRM, so how do we go about the asset procurement in ECS scenario.
4) Confirmation and Invoice transferring to R/3 through Idoc distribution Model. Going forward in SRM 7.0 the same will continue or
do we go with SOA. Please confirm.
Further to this can you please let me know, what are all the major challenges for upgrading the system to SRM 7.0 and migration from Classic to ECS.
I would appreciate for you quick response. Points will be awarded for appropriate answers.
Thanks and Regards,
Ram.Ramesh,
Few inputs for this project
1. You need to clearly seperate out the upgrate (5.0 to 7.0) and Migration (Classic to ECS) in your project planning to derisk the project i.e. you should have seperate testing cycle time/ efforts for upgrade and then on migration so that functional/ teachnical team working out in the project can clearly identifies issues between upgrade and migration seperately and work on them.
2. You have to work with business to make a decision on conversion of old classic PO's (incomplete GR/IR still required) and PO in process (SC created under approval in SRM). I strongly suggest you should not involve into conversion and keep it out of this project.
3. SRM do have option to take care of your tax configuration. BTW most of the company use external software to calculate tax amount.
4. You need to build workflow for PO in SRM since now PO will be created in SRM.
5. You need to create smartform / output determination in SRM for the PO. Please note SAP has provided some consulting notes if you continue to handle document transmission in backend with ECS.
6. Yes a distribution model needs to be setup for confirmation and Invoice if you are not doing it now in classic scenario.
Asset procurement solution you mentioned looks specific to your Org business needs, you need to explore to fit into new environment.
All the best
Thanks, Sachin

Shopping Carts from Classic to Extended Classic
We are contemplating to move from Classic 5.0 to Extended Classic 5.0 scenario, would like to know on the Shopping Carts created in Classic scenario behave when copied into new carts in ECS?
Will all the previously created shopping carts be available in ECS?
Can user copy/edit/approve the previously created shopping carts which are yet to be approved in Classic scenario?
Will Buyer be able to create PO in ECS for the shopping carts which are in approved status in Classic scenario?
Thanks
KBDear Kiran,
as the scenario is determined only in the SC transfer, you won't have problem neiter with the approval of the existing SCs, nor with the copy of the old SCs.
The SCs which were created before the change and have already the status transfered (I1111) will stay the classic scenario, the rest will be (after the change) extended.
Kind regards,

Migration from Serial polling to Serial queue with event handler
Hi, I am trying to migrate from classical serial polling communications to serial queue with "event handler" for the buttons pressed by the user. I have placed four while loops, one for the event handler, a second one for serial reading, a third one for serial writing (depending on what button was pressed) and the last one for processing what was read from the serial reading while loop, via a queue.
My attached device reads the signals from 8 sensor ( 4 temperature and another 4 temperature plus humidity in the same sensor ) and send them via serial to Lavbiew.
First of all, only once just after running the LV program, I must turn on my attached device with an ON command plus a carriage return after that the device will respond with the number of sensors plugged to it, disabling the corresponding buttons in the front panel. Then labview must wait until I pressed Acquire Button (event handler) and send a CF command plus what sensors to acquire plus a carriage return, then the device will respond continuously to labview with the sensor readings until I press the stop button (event handler), there is also another button to exit the program, also with event handler.
I am having problems using the event handler and the queues because I am new using these structures, I have looked at the LV examples but there is nothing concrete on using serial with event handler and queue.
Take a look at my VI and you will soon notice what kind of problems I am having, any suggestions will welcome.
Thank's in advance.
Regards.

serial queue.zip 76 KBHi Luisete,
Maybe the problem arise because you are En- and DeQueue in parallel. You do a lot of things in parallel, that is nice if you are sure that one loop doesn't have to wait for another loop. Make sure you don't dequeue before enqueue.
Hope this helps
I never knew that the standard error cluster output could be wired directly to the loop control of a while loop.

Migration RE classic to RE flexible
Hi All
I migrate from classic to Flexible, but when I migrate with a custom program (not REMICL) the system generate a short dump SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC (RE classic object has the same number of RE-FX object).
The RE-FX table are empty but I saw that in the JSTO and JEST are full and I find the entry of my new object that I need to create.
How can I do?

this thread is already answered. If you have an additional question please open a new one.

hi,
may i know what is the difference between classic wht and extended wht? can advise what is the major difference between these two?
thanksHi,
Classic WHT- In some countries, the law provides that invoice recipients must withhold a certain portion of the payment amount and pay this to the tax authorities as withholding tax on behalf of the vendor. This requirement exists in the United Kingdom, for example. In other countries, withholding tax need only be reported to the tax authorities for certain vendors, such as self-employed people. Withholding tax is not posted in these countries. This is the case in France, for example.
Withholding tax amounts are reported to the tax authorities at regular intervals and a statement is also sent to the vendor periodically. These reporting periods vary from country to country.
The way in which withholding tax is calculated depends on the type of service. Transactions may:
Have a variable base for tax/SI contributions
Have different tax rates
Not relevant for withholding tax
EWHT-With extended withholding tax, you can process withholding tax from both the vendor and customer view.
In Accounts Payable, the vendor is the person subject to tax, and the company code is obligated to deduct withholding tax and pay this over to the tax authorities on the vendoru2019s behalf. In Accounts Receivable, the company code itself is subject to tax, and the customers that do business with this company code deduct withholding tax and pay this over to the tax authorities on the company codeu2019s behalf. In both cases, the business partner of the person/entity subject to tax deducts the tax and pays it over to the tax authorities.
Withholding tax is calculated and posted to the appropriate withholding tax accounts at different stages, depending on the legal requirements in each country. As a rule, withholding tax is posted at the same time that the payment is posted, in other words the outgoing payment (Accounts Payable) or incoming payment (Accounts Receivable), is reduced by the withholding tax amount.
In certain countries, such as Brazil, the Philippines, and Spain, withholding tax can or must be posted when the invoice is posted. This means that the amount receivable or payable is reduced by the withholding tax amount.
Extended withholding tax supports both concepts.
The key concept in extended withholding tax is the distinction between withholding tax type and withholding tax code. While withholding tax types represent basic calculation rules, specific features of these rules - in particular the percentage rate - are represented by the withholding tax code. You can define any number of withholding tax codes for a given withholding tax type.
If a particular transaction requires more than one kind of withholding tax, this is covered in the SAP System by defining more than one withholding tax type. When entering a line item, you can enter withholding tax data for each of these withholding tax types.
For more information about the functions of extended withholding tax (in comparison to classic withholding tax), see Withholding Tax
The following special features also exist:
In some countries, such as Argentina and Italy, other kinds of posting are required for certain business transactions. Instead of the payment amount being reduced by the withholding tax amount, the withholding tax is posted as an offsetting entry to an expense account You make the relevant settings in the withholding tax code.
Where cleared items are reset, the clearing document is automatically reversed if it contains withholding tax data. For withholding tax types with accumulation, the accumulation base amount is adjusted if the payment document is reversed.
Hope this helps.
Rgds
Manish
