Migration from Dashboards to Design Studio

Hi
I'm new to Design studio and I have a quick question.
Do we have any migration tools to convert Dashboards .swf to Design Studio files?
Thanks
Venkat

No, this is not available - this is in the planned roadmap for the future.

  • Drill in feature in SAP BOBj Design Studio to Webi Report

    Hello Guru's ,
    do you know if one can drill in to Webi report from Sap BOBJ design studio ..just like dashboard to webi.
    i cant seem to find it anywhere.
    P.s: moderator can you move this thread to the right discussion if i posted it in the wrong form.

    Hi Veronika,
    First you have to identify what are your variables on the WEBI prompt. If you have created the WEBI report based on a BEX Query, the variable names would be the BEX variable technical names.
    Then you just have to add &lsS<VARIABLENAME>=<VALUE> at the end of the URL string.
    For example:
    &lsSENTITY= VALUE
    &lsSTIME = VALUE
    &lsSACCOUNT = VALUE
    So the test URL would be: http://servername:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=Afkcg9PzltNKtz7LEzNGHdY&NAII=N&lsSENTITY=VALUE&lsSTIME=VALUE
    &lsSACCOUNT=VALUE
    To get BPC configured you have to follow these steps:
    Go to the Administration Client -> Application -> Drill Throughs -> Add Drill Through
    Name your new Drill Throug and on the second screen type in:
    URL: http://servername:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=Afkcg9PzltNKtz7LEzNGHdY&NAII=N
    URL Parameters  //  Mapping Source  //  Property/Value
    lsSENTITY           //  ENTITY                 // ID
    lsSTIME               //  TIME                     //  ID
    lsSACCOUNT      //  ACCOUNT           //  ID
    Hope it helps!
    Best regards,

  • Design Studio 1.3: include image, change textbox background colour, Data labels allingment

    Dear Community,
    I've been trying to rebuild one of my Analayis Office Workbooks within Design Studio.
    Attempting this, I've come across some questions I hope to find answers to, with your help:
    1. How can I include images, in a local application? I've inserted the "image" component, but I can't asign an Image file to this.
    2. How can I change the background colour of a textbox-component?
    3. I have a chart in my Dashboard. The bars I want to be labled. But defining, that data labels should be placed outside the bars, there is a mixed result. Some bars show the labels outside, some others display the lable somewhere within the bar.
    Who can help with those questions? Thanks a lot.
    Kind regards
    Sarah

    1. How can I include images, in a local application? I've inserted the "image" component, but I can't asign an Image file to this.
    When working in Local Mode, go to Application -> Open Repository Folder -> and open the folder that your BI Application is named.  Place your image file there.  Go back to your Design Studio Image component and set the src to the name of that image file.  It should show up.  This gets a little more involved when working on the BI Platform or NetWeaver Platform, as you'll want to publish the Image to a public folder on the CMS somewhere (for BI Platform), or the MIME Repository (for NetWeaver Platform).  But the concept is similar in that you have to know where to place the files once you are at that point.  Also as an approach that should work without any need to publish the image to the platform (as it's a little tedious), please read this document:
    How to embed images inside of a Design Studio App without uploading to server.
    Or, if you do not want to go through the base-64 encoding, consider the addon I blogged about here:
    Design Studio 1.2 SDK - An Image Component free of MIME Repository worries
    The deployable version can be downloaded from this blog:
    Design Studio 1.2/1.3 SDK - Design Studio Utility Pack
    2. How can I change the background colour of a textbox-component?
    You will have to write a CSS rule like this:
    .testbox {
        background : #009966;
    Then assign 'testbox' as the CSS Class to the text input box.
    3. I have a chart in my Dashboard. The bars I want to be labled. But defining, that data labels should be placed outside the bars, there is a mixed result. Some bars show the labels outside, some others display the lable somewhere within the bar.
    Not sure how much control the delivered chart components would give you here.  Maybe one of the third party addons listed in this post could help?

  • Using BPC with Design Studio 1.4

    Hello,
    We have recently upgraded to Design Studio 1.4, and are running BPC NW 10.0. I am trying to create a simple dashboard in Design Studio that will allow for dynamic filtering (based on the selected value of a radio button). Below is the script I have created that would be run on selection of a time period:
    if (RADIOBUTTONGROUP_1.getSelectedValue()=="2014.TOTAL") {
      DS_2.setFilter("/CPMB/RSDIEQ7","HIERARCHY_NODE/\/CPMB\/RSDIEQ7/2014.TOTAL")
    I removed the backslashes (in red above) and received a warning message:
    Value "HIERARCHY_NODE/CPMB/RSDIEQ7/2014.TOTAL" does not exist for "/CPMB/RSDIEQ7" in connection "cuid:AQV3Qrc3W5lJuDTpLd4PrpU".
    My question -
    1 - Is it possible to filter BPC dimensions in Design Studio 1.4?
    2 - If it is possible, how do I apply the filter so that the filter value is recognized?
    Thank you for your help!
    Beth

    Hi Beth,
    please try "setFilterExt" instead of "setFilter" and it will works.
    The syntax should be like this: DS_2.setFilterExt("/CPMB/RSDIEQ7","2014.TOTAL")
    I hope it works.

  • Issues migrating Xcelsius Dashboards from Dev to QA in BO 4.0

    We are currently using BO 4.0 SP2 for enterprise landscape  and Crystal Dashboard 4.0SP2 for dashboard design. We have Webi Reports created on top of BEx queries and BI Web Services are created on top of WEBI Report blocks used as the data sources for Xcelsius dashboards. All the dashboards work fine in Development environment. Now the problem is when we migrate the dashboards to QA, dashboards doesnt work anymore as the Web Services based on Webi Report blocks have the  BOBJ Dev server name hard coded in the Web Services URL and still shows the same in QA. I can change the web services url to point to QA in XCelisus, however can't edit the web service in QA to change it to point to Dev. Has anyone experiences this issue?
    Thanks

  • Single/Double click in Design Studio Dashboard

    Hi All
    In my design studio dashboard, have enabled a functionality of jump-to from one cross tab to other. When doing a single click on a particular value say network - Jim as shown below it jumps to next table showing the relevant confirmation values. But the same thing when a double click is done instead of showing the relevant confirmation values for network - Jim, it displays all the available confirmation values.
    Single click view:
    Double click view:
    Is there a way to handle this? Like switch off single/double click or any scripting to control this?
    Any suggestions highly appreciated.

    Hi Patrick
    If i try the solution suggested by Deepu, on a fresh dashboard it works perfectly fine.
    But the same when i do it on my existing dashboard, it does not gives me the expected results. Not only this many other features have resulted in similar situation . I end up kind of refreshing each and every component, thats a lot of re-work
    Guess the refresh doesnt happen properly in design studio.
    Thanks

  • Integration of BOBJ Design Studio dashboard via SAP EP

    My client is currently piloting the implementation of a BusinessObjects Design Studio dashboard.  For maximum flexibility, the Add-on for BI Platform (BIP) has been installed, and we are able to successfully execute the dashboard from the BOBJ LauchPad.  Dashboard presents query results from BW.
    However, the client now wants to deploy this dashboard to their SAP Enterprise Portal environment.  They want the user to be able to access/execute the dashboard from within EP.  This is where we have faced several obstacles.  Initially, we received a blank screen upon dashboard execution, but this was recently resolved by installing the proper iview template for the BOBJ Design Studio analysis application. (OSS Note 1672422)
    Now, when we execute the dashboard via EP, the system presents the BOBJ "hourglass/rainbow circle", but does not complete.  I checked the Process Overview in the BW system, and there is no activity taking place during this time.
    We are currently at the following release levels:
    BW 7.3
    Portal 7.4
    BOBJ Design Studio 1.4
    I would like to hear from someone who has successfully implemented this scenario (Design Studio dashboard, with BIP Add-on, being accessed via SAP EP).
    Since we installed the DS Add-On for BIP, or course, we didn't install the DS Add-on for SAP NetWeaver.  Do we need to install the NetWeaver Add-on if we want to deploy the dashboards via Portal (even though they are managed/transported within the BI Plaform)?
    Any thoughts?
    Rod

    Hi Ingo:
    Just wanted to give you an update on our issue.  As you suggested, I created a new Design Studio application, containing only a text box.  This application was successfully rendered within the Portal.
    Afterward, I started experimenting with other dashboard components, including a crosstab object that was linked to a BW query as a Design Studio datasource.  The crosstab was also successfully rendered within the Portal.
    I then added a chart to this application and re-executed.  While the text box and cross tab were visible, the chart was missing.
    After researching further, someone mentioned Google Chrome, so I downloaded it and executed the test dashboard containing text box, crosstab, and chart.  It rendered successfully in Portal (via Chrome)!!
    Afterward, I then executed my initial dashboard application via Chrome, and it also rendered successfully!
    I had previously read several posts regarding IE compatibility with Design Studio, but I was always able to use IE to successfully render Design Studio applications via BOBJ LaunchPad.  Therefore, I didn't think I had an issues with DS and IE.  However, for us, the issue seems to be between DS, EP, and IE.
    Now, we have to deal with an organizational issue of web browsers, but that's a separate challenge.
    Thanks to all contributors for your insights.

  • Migrating from Designer 1.3 (not 1.3.2) to 6i

    I downloaded from technet the package to migrate from 1.3.2, but didn't get good results.
    I followed the instruction on chapter 2 of the file (that became a CD after de-zipped).
    I installed the application on a NT4 with Oracle Server 7.3.4 and Designer 1.3 without problems.
    After that i followed instruction on CD performing a full user export (repository owner) and reimport from the admin utility of des 1.3, but in that phase i got some errors.
    At this point i tryed to launch the upgrade of the repository from the admin utility of designer 6.0 (the version that is on the cd) but the application will fail 2 or 3 seconds after i started it.
    I suspect there are problems with sql net or sqlplus 8.0.5 because in the dos windows that opens i can see that SQL Plus 8.0.5 is invoked, but the window closes istantaneosly and there is noway to watch the error messages reported.
    I tryed to start SQL Plus 8.0.5 from the admin utility and it starts using the repository owner account without connect string specification as i normally do with SQL Plus 3.3.
    There are no log (.lis or .log files) in wich i can watch the error.
    If possible write me also directly to my mail [email protected]
    Thanks in advance
    Simone

    Open a dos window. Enter plus80 then the username/password and connect string and ensure you can connect to the database. If not fix this by correcting the tnsnames entry.

  • URGENT - Migrating from 9i to 10g designer

    Hi All,
    I have installed new repository for Designer 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and
    I have started Migration from Designer 9i (9.0.2.80.10).
    I have error message from ckrau61 with cause:
    "No Designer Repository has been detected.
    Please check connection details and try again".
    I have checked TNSNAMES.ORA and haven't found any error. Other
    software works with old repository (9i) and i have checked the TNSNAMES.ORA on the server and not on the client ... Oracle is trying to build a db link and it is tested ok.
    The Migration from 9i is not supported in 10g?
    Help-me!!!!
    Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

    You do not have to install a new Repository and "migrate" your data to upgrade from Designer 9i to Designer 10g. You just install the 10g Designer client, connect to your existing 9i Repository and "upgrade" it to 10g.
    Please refer to the "Upgrading a Release 6i, 9i, or 10g Repository" section in the Repository Installation Guide for complete details.

  • Passing parameters from Design Studio to Explorer

    Is it possible to pass parameters (filter selections) from Design Studio to BO Explorer?
    Thanks,
    Anders

    Hi Andres,
    I could figure out the solution for all these options.
    I used if-esle statement to handle the blank parameter values
    To pass multiple values for the parameter, I converted the "; " separator to _]_ so as to convert the list in the format recognized by Explorer. Note that there is a space after ;
    To pass multiple parameters, I used the syntax "_;_" to include the second parameter in the url (refer to the last else statement in the below mentioned code)
    Hope this helps in case you haven't found any solution yet.
    //specify global variables for each filter and capture the filter selections in them
    var1=DS_1.getFilterText("Dim1");
    var2=DS_1.getFilterText("Dim2");
    //Use below mentioned code for the On Click event of the button
    if (var1.length <= 0 && var2.length <= 0)
        APPLICATION.openNewWindow("http://xxxx:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&iDocID=Aecg_Tff_55Oon3UKgf2BZ0");
