Migration from Designer 5.5 to 5.7 - problems

Hello,
I am new on this forum - I decided to signup and maybe find a solution to my problem.
We were using in our company Adobe Designer 5.5 for creation of product labels. Recently we expanded to another location and purchased Adobe Designer 5.7 to produce labels.
The problem is that during opening of old *.IFD files we got following messages:
We are using HP 9050 and Zebra 140 for printing and old version of Designer - 5.5 - each time we opened a label that was meant to be print on a different type of printer asked us only if we want to change to the new printer, or revert to recently used one.
This messages about coversion of fonts and barcodes are new for us and our doubt is that if we perform the conversion barcodes and fonts will not be readable. I know that there are config files for both fonts and barcodes but it is not very clear to me how to proceed in order to get exactly the same result in 5.7 as it was in 5.5. I guess simple copy of config files will not work.
I know this may seem silly question for IT tech but right now we do not have IT support in our new division.
Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Terki
Every time you open Output Designer it will remember the printer driver (aka Presentment Target) from last session. In your case the Designer opens with driver 'hp9000' loaded. The template you are trying to open has been saved with driver 'zplz140'. Usually you would not get the first error message but rather an option to accept the change of driver or to revert to the original driver. I guess the reason you don't get this is that your Output Designer 5.7 has not been installed with driver 'zplz140'. There is a new set of Zebra drivers available so I guess this is the situation.
You should check your Presentment Targets to see which drivers are available. In my attachment you will see that I have installed 3 legacy drivers for the very reason that we have many templates created with earlier versions of the Designer i.e. with drivers such as 'zplz140'.
You have two options:
install the 'zplz140' driver by running the Designer install
start the Designer and change to one of the new Zebra drivers such as 'zplii300'. Make sure this driver has all the fonts you want to use. Now you can open your template and accept the change to a new driver
Hope this helps

  • Migrating from Designer 1.3 (not 1.3.2) to 6i

I downloaded from technet the package to migrate from 1.3.2, but didn't get good results.
I followed the instruction on chapter 2 of the file (that became a CD after de-zipped).
I installed the application on a NT4 with Oracle Server 7.3.4 and Designer 1.3 without problems.
After that i followed instruction on CD performing a full user export (repository owner) and reimport from the admin utility of des 1.3, but in that phase i got some errors.
At this point i tryed to launch the upgrade of the repository from the admin utility of designer 6.0 (the version that is on the cd) but the application will fail 2 or 3 seconds after i started it.
I suspect there are problems with sql net or sqlplus 8.0.5 because in the dos windows that opens i can see that SQL Plus 8.0.5 is invoked, but the window closes istantaneosly and there is noway to watch the error messages reported.
I tryed to start SQL Plus 8.0.5 from the admin utility and it starts using the repository owner account without connect string specification as i normally do with SQL Plus 3.3.
There are no log (.lis or .log files) in wich i can watch the error.
If possible write me also directly to my mail [email protected]
    Thanks in advance
    Simone

Open a dos window. Enter plus80 then the username/password and connect string and ensure you can connect to the database. If not fix this by correcting the tnsnames entry.

  • Migration from Designer 6.0 to 9i

    Hi, all!
May be somebody knows it or can help me to find this information in metalink:
IS IT POSSIBLE TO MIGRATE FROM ORACLE DESIGNER 6.0 TO ORACLE DESIGNER 9i???

    Hi, all!
May be somebody knows it or can help me to find this
    information in metalink:
IS IT POSSIBLE TO MIGRATE FROM ORACLE DESIGNER 6.0 TO
ORACLE DESIGNER 9i???Yes, you can migrate from Oracle Designer 6.0 to Oracle9i Designer. There is an extensive Migration Guide available on OTN that I recommend you read. The guide is under the Designer Collateral (http://otn.oracle.com/products/designer/Collateral.htm#Migration)
There are two guides, one for Migrating from 6.0 to 6i and the second from 6.0 to 9i. These are essentially the same as there is no significant difference between 6i and 9i Designer.

  • Migration from Designer 6i to Designer 10gR2

    Hi,
my customer has a productivity environment of the Designer 6i repository. We are also generating Forms 6i modules with the Designer 6i Forms Generator.
Now we have to migrate the Database where the Designer 6i repository resides from 8i to 11gR2.
Which scenario of migration is to choose ?
I want to migrate without change, upgrade the current productivity environment.
First of all have i to migrate the Designer from 6i to 10gR2 if i only want migrate the database version from 8i to 11gR2 ?
    Many Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Martin

    Martin,
In a previous post you can find the following information: (Re: 11G compatibility
Designer 10.1.2.5 is certified with an 11.1.0.6 DB
You can get it to work with an 11.1.0.7 DB but you have to use the imp/exp tools from 11.1.0.6
Designer is not certified with and 11R2 db.
After upgrading the repository from 6i to 10gR2, there were some differences in the forms generated in 6i and 10gR2. So after upgrading you have to test your forms to see if they are working still the same.

  • Migration from Designer: wrong alias for used table/view in views

    Hello,
I am using SQL DM version 3.3.0.744.
when importing a view from Designer, a query is build with aliases for the used tables/views which are the same as the table/view name. When using a where clause in Designer, you refer to the alias of the table/view, like t1.col1= t2.cola. Here t1 and t2 are the aliases of the underlying tables.
In Designer the following DDL is generated:
CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW VIEW5
    (COL2
    ,COL1)
    AS SELECT T2.COLA COL2
    ,T1.COL1 COL1
    FROM TAB2 T2
    ,TAB1 T1
    WHERE t1.col1= t2.cola
After importing the view in Data Modeler, the following DDL is generated:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW VIEW5 ( COL2,
    COL1 )
    AS SELECT
    TAB2.COLA COL2,
    TAB1.COL1 COL1
    FROM
    TAB2 TAB2,
    TAB1 TAB1
    WHERE
    t1.col1= t2.cola ;
So by using the wrong alias, the where clause is invalid and the query builder doesn't show the joins.
The solution for this is to use the alias of the used table/view instead of the table/view name. Can you raise a bug for this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joop

Thanks for your time. I did all possible way, but still the same problem. I mean
    EXP 8... IMP 8
    EXP 8... IMP 9
    EXP 9... IMP 9
Today I found that, NLS_LANG of two databases are different. Oracle 8i is : WE8ISO8859P1
    AND Oracle9i is : WE8MSWIN1252
So I created a new database from scratch with Oracle 8i character set :WE8ISO8859P1 and then use imp9i to import the file. Still the same problem.

    Hi Tuna ,
    Thanks for the feedback.
Stored procedure names are collision managed so that they are not longer than 30 characters in length. This is a limitation of Oracles object naming convention.

  • [EA2] Migration from Designer to Datamodeler

    Hi,
I'm planning to migrate our current Designer 10g-Repository to DataModeler 3.0 EA2.
The current repository contains about yyyy objects, which is a number lots too big to check manually.
It is very important, that no information will be "lost" in the migration project, neither new information which didn't exist in the Designer-Repository will be added.
What I'm looking for is a way to compare the new and old repository automatically.
Actually, I've thought about two different approaches to perform this check:
    1) Generate DDL-Scripts from within Designer and Data Modeler to compare them via an external Diff-Tool
    2) Avoid using the direct Designer-Import in Data Modeler, instead create DDL-Scripts in Designer and import them into Data Modeler, finally use the DDL-Export-function in Data Modeler to generate another DDL script, which represents the imported objects in Data Modeler. At last, they have to be compared via the Diff-Tool.
Is there any other or better way to solve the problem with comparing the input and output?
    Thanks in advance,
    tensai

  • Migrating from 1.25Ghz G4 to Intel iMac problem

    Hi there!
    Question in brief:
Can I install old (non-universal) software (such as IDCS2 and Qk6.5) on a new Intel iMac?
    Question at length:
Just got a new iMac here, and wanteed to do a migration (which I've done problem-free between PCC Macs) and have hit upon a problem. The new iMac will not see the old Mac (connections/cables/old mac have been tested). New man just says "Waiting for your old mac to restart"
I came here looking for an answer, and fount this post
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4753948&#4753948
So it looks like it's going to be a LONG job. Can I just reinstall non-universal 3rd party apps from original CDs? We have NO universal software at all.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Kappy
Thanks for your reply. Sorry for not being clear enough – ou see I'm not exactly sure of what migration assistant is capable of.
I know that when you connect the two macs MA Upon start up (Migration Assistant) can copy the user settings. I presumed it could do this because it was copying over the newer mac's user settings at a point where the newer mac a total access to the drive. I therefore presumed that if (instead) the iMac had been started up, and then I ran MA, it would not be able to replace the user data, because it is in use.
That link I put in the original post said that I shouldn't do applications via MA from a PPC to an Intel one. So I'll have to reinstall those from the original disks. That's O.K., right?
    Thanks again ;0)

  • Migration from Jdeveloper 11g r1 to 11g r2 problem

    Hi all
I have a project initially created in Jdeveloper 11g r1
after migrating it to Jdeveloper 11g r2 i tried to replace lookup ejb invocation to dependency injection.
So i used @EJB annotation in my managed bean. I'm shure there could be no mistakes in the way how i used this anno, i did it many times
    it looks something like this
    @EJB(name="StatelessSessionEJBEx",beanInterface =StatelessSessionEJBEx.class, beanName = "StatelessSessionEJBEx")
as a result it generated an exception which said that the EJB interface could not be found, though all dependencies between business and view projects are in place. After a while i figured out that the problem is it used JSF 1.2 specification instead of 2.0 so i replaced the version of JSF in managed been source code
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1251"?>
    <faces-config version="2.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"> ....
but it seemed to make no effect at all.
So are there any guesses what i did wrong
    Thanks. Alex.

    Hi,
the server used by JDeveloper 11g R2 is a patched WLS 10.3.5 or 10.1.3.6 server (depends on teh JDeveloper version), which is not a Java EE 6 version but Java EE 5 (which explains why CDI doesn't work as expected). To read up on how to get annotated EJBs work from JSF managed beans, see http://buttso.blogspot.de/2011/03/jsf-with-managed-beans-and-dependency.html.
The upcoming 12c release will solve all of this. My suggestion therefore is to keep on going with the web.xml reference and then replace it later with @EJB annotation references

  • Migration from iphoto 5 to iphoto 9, many problems

    Hello!
    Sorry for my english!
I just buyed a new mac, the marvellous 13,3 pro.
I have many problems with the migration, between iphoto 9 and iphoto 5.
On the old PB there was a library created with iphoto 5 until june '09. Before these there was another one created whith iphoto 6. Cause an Hard disk crash i was using the original iphoto 5.
After the migration, iphoto 9 shows these strange problems:
    - use the old library, (the one created with the 6)with photos and albums before the hd crash;
    - shows only miniature (thumbs) of many photos, without showing the large file (but it's present in folder, in the library of the finder!)
    - shows only the albums of the iphoto 6 library
I try to re-import the photos from the july 08, but the MB answers "They're already in the library!"
How can i see the photo from july 08 until now?
And how i can transfer last albums ( 2009) from the PB to the MB?
I try to create a DVD with the PB and i make a reimport from the DVD, but after the reimport i still can't see new photos and albums.
    thanks to all.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How did you get the old Libraries to the new Machine? DId you import them to iPhoto or simply open them with iPhoto?
IF you *did not* import them:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Migrating from iPhoto '08 to Aperture 3.1 problems

    Hi,
I am hoping somebody can help me.
I have a MBP and have been filling up my hard drive with photos over the past couple of years, always importing them into iPhoto.
The problem is my hard drive is now nearly full and what I would really like to do is keep all my photos OFF the laptop hard drive and mirrored onto two external drives instead, thus freeing up a ton of space on my MBP and protecting my photos at the same time.
I looked into it and I can't really do this with iPhoto but I can with Aperture so I upgraded to Aperture.
OK so far so good. The problem is when I tried to get my Aperture to import my iPhoto library. It said it needed 16GB of free space in order to execute this so I found ways to get that with room to spare (23GB) and started the import process. Now it has sucked up he 23GB and says the hard drive has run out of free space. The photos appear to have all been imported BUT it is still processing the photos it has imported and this seems to be what is continuing to suck up the free space.
I want to get to the point where I can tell Aperture to move the photos off of the laptop hard drive but I'm afraid to do that while it says it is still processing photos. But whenever I make more room on the hard drive it just consumes the free space again. I am running out of other files to move off my computer to make more room. I have no idea how much room Aperture will demand in the end before it will stop consuming free space on the hard drive.
Can anyone give me advice. I'm afraid to do anything that might cause me to lose photos. My goal again is to get all my photos stored off my computer and mirror them so that they are backed up on two external hard drives at once.
Once that is done I would be happy to discard the superfluous iPhoto library on the computer to save space (no need to be able to access the photos in iPhoto after I'm done.)
Please advise as I'm stuck in the middle of this process and I don't know what to do.
    Thanks.

I have to tell you, I've been avoiding doing so out of fear it may destabilise my system, especially cause installed software to go wonky.
You are right, to be careful. MacOS 10.6.8 is a very good and stable system, and I would not give it up needlessly. But now the new versions of both Aperture and iPhoto do need the latest Lion version. So you will be left out, if you do not upgrade.
If you ever take the plunge, take the following precautions:
Check which of your installed Applications that youdepend on are still PowerPC Applications and require the Rosetta environment. These applications will not run with Lion. Select the application in the Finder and choose "Get Info" from the File menu; if the application is listed as being Universal, it is o.k.,If the application is listed as Application (PowerPC), it will require Rosetta on an Intel Mac, and it never will run with MacOS X 10.7 or later. Try to upgrade all PowerPC applications to "universal" or "Intel" applications before you upgrade the system.
Make sure you have your regular Time Machine backup.
Create a bootable clone of your current system on an external disk and check it carefully before you upgrade. This way you will be able to revert to the old system easily, or simply boot from the one, if you need to run older software that does not run with Lion.
Rebuild your Aperture Library with the Aperture 3 first AId Tools before upgrading and make sure, you have a backup of your library.

  • URGENT - Migrating from 9i to 10g designer

    Hi All,
I have installed new repository for Designer 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and
I have started Migration from Designer 9i (9.0.2.80.10).
I have error message from ckrau61 with cause:
"No Designer Repository has been detected.
Please check connection details and try again".
I have checked TNSNAMES.ORA and haven't found any error. Other
software works with old repository (9i) and i have checked the TNSNAMES.ORA on the server and not on the client ... Oracle is trying to build a db link and it is tested ok.
The Migration from 9i is not supported in 10g?
    Help-me!!!!
Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

You do not have to install a new Repository and "migrate" your data to upgrade from Designer 9i to Designer 10g. You just install the 10g Designer client, connect to your existing 9i Repository and "upgrade" it to 10g.
Please refer to the "Upgrading a Release 6i, 9i, or 10g Repository" section in the Repository Installation Guide for complete details.

  • Problems when trying to migrate from 6.0 to 6i

    Hi,
I'm having problems when trying to migrate a Designer 6.0 application to 6i.
When I get to start the migration after having selected the source application, the process fails immediately after I've pressed the button.
I'm getting the error: CDR-21244: This process has been aborted and the advice to check the log file. But no log file is created.
I've read Note 234984.1 which gives two suggestions in this situation: That the ORACLE_HOME environment variable is unset, and that the LOG_DIRECTORY_RAU directory is writeable. Both is fulfilled in my situation. However it seems that the migration procedure tries to start imp - I've noticed a short flash with the command prompt screen - and when I try to start imp manually from the command prompt I get errors. I was able to fix this error by setting ORACLE_HOME and ORA_NLS33. But the defining ORACLE_HOME is "illegal" ref. Note 234984.1. Of course I tried to leave it anyway, but that didn't help neither: The migration still dies a quick and silent dead.
So now I'm stucked. How can I carry on?
The source is on version 6.0.3.5.0 running on 8.1.5, and the taget is version 6.5.92.1.9 running on 8.1.7.4.
    Regards, Michael

The migration from Designer 6.0 to 6i requires careful planning. Please read the migration guide on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/designer/index.html) for advice and to assist you with the migration.

  • Tools for converting from Designer 1.x to 6?

I am about to work for a client that would like to convert their data model from Oracle Designer version 1.3 to version 6. They, of course, have both logical and physical models defined in the tool. They do not use Designer to create triggers or stored procedures, but they do store business rules in the repository (I'm not sure where. . .). The business rules serve as documentation for business analysts.
Is Oracle Designer upwardly compatible from version 1? That is, will I be able to open the version 1 model with version 6 software? If not, are there tools that I might use to perform the transition?
    Thanks for the help,
    Tom

    Tom,
For a technical migration from designer 1 to designer 6.0, there is extensive documentation in the 6.0 product how to do this. Your repostitory information will be available in designer 6 once you upgraded. If you used Headstart for designer 1.3.2, take a look at the Headstart migration issues for migration your template package (info can be found on OTN,(http://technet.oracle.com/products/headstart/)
. If you want to migrate your business logic, you might want to take a look at the CDM RuleFrame option (whitepapers available on the website), a powerfull way to model and implement business logic in the server (with transaction level validation, no more mutating table problems etc.)
