Migration From Developer 2.1 to Forms 6i/9i

Hello,
My client wants to migrate from Developer 2.1 to Forms 6i or to Forms 9i with C/S architecture (Sun Solaris 2.6). They are told (from Oracle Support) that they need to add a patch set before migrating. Has anybody migrated in this environment and what patch set was added?

Hi,
3 things.
1. The forms 9i is NOT available for the client/server environment. Therefore if your customer insists on client/server environment then you need to upgrade to forms 6i (which is the final client/server version of forms/reports developer).
2. There are OS patches that you need to apply if you want to run forms/reports developer 6i on solaris 2.6. The complete list is available in the 6i installation documentation (you might find it also on the internet). If you upgrade the OS to solaris 8, then there is no extra OS patches required for forms/reports developer 6i. We are running 6i on Solaris 8 (with no extra OS patches).
3. The last available patch for forms/reports developer 6i is patch #10 which can be downloaded from Oracle Metalink. I did apply this patch for 6i on solaris 8 client/server environment and has not seen any negative effect so far.

Planning Migration from Development Server to Testing Server

Hi All,
I am doing migration from development env to testing env. I am stuck in the middle of the migration. Anyone please guide me in this situation. Its very urgent for me. I am following below steps for the planning migration
1. Create a new database on Production RDBMS Server for your planning application.
I created the new database for my planning application.
2. Configure a data source on Production Planning Server.
     I configured the new datasource on planning.
3. Create fresh planning application on Production Server and Ensure the admin is the same as your planning application on Development Server.
     I created the new planning application on production server. Its working fine with admin login.
4. Go into the database tables for the planning app on Production Server and look at table HSP_USERS; store the SID value against user 50001.
     I save the SID value against 50001 in a notepad
5. Go into the database planning system tables on Production Server and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created.
     I removed the version for the application i created
6. Stop Planning.
     I stopped the planning services
7. Restore the planning application database on Development over the one created in the first step (to the Production Server Database).
     In this steps only, i am facing diffculities.
     How to take the backup of development database? (Here, i want to the take the database backup of planning application schema or entire oracle databat in development server)
     How to restore to testing env database
Please anyone guide me in this situtation. Please......

11. If you are requiring to migrate users as well, you will have to make sure you create them in Shared Services and then use the updateusers utility in the planning bin directory.

Thanks for your reply. I did the same as you specified. I used Imp instead of import, exp instead of export.
7. Restore the planning application database on Development over the one created in the first step (to the Production Server Database).
I restored the Planning dmp here

Here, SID remains the same after restore the backup from the development server(SID same for Development and testing Server)
9. Start planning
I started the Planning Services.
10. Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen
I am facing problem here.
While login into planning application, its not redirect to migrate screen. Its normally login to the application

What is the right tools to migrate from developer suite 10g to 11g?

Hi all..
Im kinda new here and hope pro can help me in the right direction. I've been developing forms and reports in 10g which is using the developer suite. My company would like to migrate to 11g. However, i see that there are no 11g developer suite. it must have rename it something else or provided to developer in a different name or so.
Could someone clarify this and give me a link to what i need to develop forms and reports in 11g. Im sure im going to need the weblogic as well.
I did find a post where user states that there is no more developer suite in 11g but i find his answer a bit unclear. So i was hoping someone can give a link to what i really need in order to continue with 11g.

In brief a migration from 10g to 11g is just a recompile, nothing more. There were some built-ins removed in 11g which were deprecated in 10g (like run_product for example) so if you have some dead code containing this built-ins you will get compile errors. But as those built-ins didn't do anything in 10g you should be able to remove them without a second thought.
As for developer suite: there is no developer suite anymore like there was in 10g; There is only one complete bundle containing the development as well as the deployment components, and you can choose at installation time which components you want to install. You can install the IDEs and omit some of the components you won't need in 11gR1 or install the development version in 11gR2.

Migration from Developer 4.5 to Developer 6i

Hello,
I want to migrate a Oracle forms 4.5 application to developer 6i.
The Forms 4.5 application has been built by using headstart 3.4.2. The application runs on a client-server architecture
Is it possible to migrate to developer 6i without changing the used headstart version and the architecture.
I already heard that we might be some problems with visual attributes in client-server environment ?
who can give me some more information about this combination of architecture and used software and tools ?

Migration from Developer 6i to 9i

We are in the process of migrating a large application from developer 6i (client/server) to developer 9i (Application Server 10g). When recompiled the forms in 9i, it says built-ins such as "go_item", "Set.." etc. are not supported. We are also facing some problems in calling reports (using the run_report_object). If there are work arounds, please reply.

Migrating from Centura/Gupta to Oracle forms

I work at an organistion that is the result of a merger, we have two main bespoke systems, one in Oracle Forms which has recently been upgraded to the web based version (6.5) and a second written in Gupta / Centura SQL Windows client server. Both use Oracle databases thought the Centura application is still on 8i.
We want to move to Forms over time but will have to run both for a while and would like to try and run them as more of a single system in the interim. e.g a single security system so users can move from one to the other without having to use 2 userids & passwords. My initial investigations suggest this isn't going to be easy.
I wondered if anyone had any experience/ tips, or could point me at any useful resources.

Migrating from Development to Test Server

I have developed an OA extension page and deployed it.
But now once I want to move my extension page from development to test server how do I do it. My doubts are because:
While developing the pages I specified the connection username and password which is stored in the bc4j.xcfg file.
What is the best way to deploy the OA Extension pages in respect to migration.

Migrating from Developer to JDeveloper

Is there a migration path from Developer to JDeveloper?
I would like to move a Developer project to JDeveloper in order to get access to the Java code. With Developer all of the logic is hidden in the project and JAR files. The logic represented by the project will is what I desire. i.e. produce a pure java-application not a project/JAR file one.

I also have requirement like this. Can Oracle suggests any tools or means of doing this.

Export application and any supporting objects to a script, have dba load previously built script to production environment and run script. Need to make sure users are logged out of application and that the proper themes and such are loaded in production.

After migration from SP2010 to SP2013 HTML Form Webpart doesnt works

Before migration to SharePoint 2013, our html form webpart works fine in sharepoint 2010. After migrated our webpart was not working. When we tried to edit the html form webpart , and when we specified apply we got the
following errors, Cannot retrieve properties at this time, as well cannot save you changes. Can anyone help us to sort this issue.

According to your description, the HTML Form Web Part not working after upgraded to SharePoint 2013.
What version of IE browser you use?
Also please try to add a new HTML Form Web Part for a test to see if the issue still exists.

Migrating from 6i to 9i for form generating starting with designer

I try to migrating our forms generating 5-6 years start with designer, but they are finished through form builder.
When I tried to use migrating assistant wizard, I get

I posted it through metalink and I was told it must be regenerated through designer, and there is no way to do migration.

actually you would upgrade the application sources from Forms 6i to Forms9i and then run teh Forms Migration Assistant for the clean up /this at least is my understanding after asking one of our Designer Product Managers).

When I created a SAP Netweaver BI connection using BeX query in BW development environment, the system is defaulted to the BW development environment. Since the system textbox can't be modified to use a variable to point to production environment, can you share how you migrate your SWF file to production environment and ensure that it points to the BeX production query?

How to migrate from development server to prodution server

Hi,
I’m working in obiee 11.1.1.5.I have a development server in which I developed all the dashboards and I have a production server.Now I have to move everything to production server.Production server is pointing to a different database schema with a different port number.
Method followed:
1)Took a copy of catalog and rpd from the development server
2)Copied the catalog to production server
3)Deployed rpd in the production server enterprise manager
Now the problem is Im getting the following error when I tried to open the dashboard

did you changed the connection pool entries according to your Production Environment Database details,please check this first.
check the Data source name,User,PWD are according to ur prod DB or not?

We have still applications developped with Oracle Forms 6i (old version no more supported). We are investigating for doing the migration with a limited expense to Oracle Forms 10g or HtmlDB.
Another questions are :
Is it possible to migrate from Oracle 6i to Oracle Forms 10g ?
Oracle Forms will still exists ? until when ?
