Migration from Essbase 7.5.1 to system 9

Hi all,
I have an immediate requirement to migrate huge essbase applications from essbase 7.5.1 to system 9.
as per my knowledge, i believe that we can migrate from 7.5.1 --->9.2.0.2--->9.3.1 or EPM 11i.
Anybody who have worked on the same please confirm.
Or if there is any ohter way to do it, please let me know.
will it be possible to migrate from 7.5.1 to 9.3.1 directly? i was able to migrate very simple applications directly from 7.5.1 to 9.3.1. I am sure there will be issues when we migrate huge applications.
Hope to get a response from u guys...
regards.,
Nishanth

  • Migration from 10g to 11i using sapinst - system copy

    Hi ,
We are planning to migrate from our current platform to new platform.
    Current Platform :  windows 2003,oracle 10g , ecc6.0
    Target :  Windows 2008 R2 , oracle 11g , ecc6.0
The process we are going to follow is system copy (Import/Export)
what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
What about the kernel and Export ?
Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.
    Thanks,
    Neel

    Hello,
    >> what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
    Read the system copy guide
    >> Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
No, all versions are valid. Read the system copy guide according to your NW version.
    >> Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.
Yes, absolutely. On target system you install 11g software.
    Thanks

  • How to Migrate from SAP BO XI 3.1 system to SAP BI 4.1

    Hello Gurus,
I got a new project and I have to start Upgrade and Migration from BO XIR3.1 to BI 4.1. Please help me out here. More detail are given below. Appreciated in advance.
    1.1    Technical Scope
Installation of only a production SAP BI 4.1 environment.
Repository is currently on DB2 but will be on SQL Server for the BI 4.1 implementation.
All VMware machines: The new architecture calls for 12 VM servers.
Row-level Security in the universe for authorization of content and Enterprise for Authentication (no SSO). Matrix security model with custom level groups which gives Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced level users to pre-defined folders and content.
Migrate content (objects, universe and instances) from SAP BO XI 3.1 to SAP BO BI 4.1 for the technical upgrade, the details are below:
Universes will stay in the UNV format and will not be converted to UNX.
    Only WebI Documents
All Controlled Folders - (~5600 documents)
174 Total objects in Public Documents folders (All documents to upgrade & remediate)
5,433 Total WebI reports in Corporate and other folders (All documents to upgrade, & remediate)
    User Folders – (~6,000 documents)
6000 + Webi documents accessed in 2013 ( All 6000 + documents to upgrade, NO remediation)
    Inbox – None will migrate
Total Documents to remediate: up to 5,607
    Migrate all universes and connections
Migrate all Xcelsius and agnostic documents with no remediation.
The estimated report count for remediation by complexity, Low-1525, Medium-150 and High-50.
Assumes a 10% report remediation effort described earlier sections
Report remediation: should it exceed the base assumptions made in this document, will be implemented as a Change Order. Effort for such change will be mutually agreed between parties. Price to project is determined using this effort and blended rates.
    Testing:
Conduct planning and inventory analysis; Reusable templates for Migration Plan, Validation.
    Perform migration
Use the Right Sized Testing framework to plan and conduct testing
Use the automated Reports Compare tools to compare large volumes of excel / xml data
Templates based remediation– ensures quality control
    Thanking you best regards.

For applications Atul is correct, you should just be able to migrate them to the new server, but for your VBA code, you will want to make sure you update your function declarations in your code. You would want to replace your definitions with the ones in arborpath\api\include\esb32bas . If you are using toolkit functions also replace those definitions with arborbath\bin\ESSXLVBA.TXT

  • After migration from sccm 2007, there are many systems with no client installed

    Hi Everyone,
We have migrated our environment from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 , And Manual client push installation has been done by HeadQuarter SCCM admins on site code of our region.
But as i see , in all systems collection based on OU, there are approx 50% systems with no client installed.
There may be some stale systems in AD.
Is there any way so that i can list out all Stale or old computers which are not in use anymore records of systems from Active directory and so that i move them to OU for which system discovery is not enabled.
Also, it will very useful if i get more information on lastLogonTimeStamp and such more properties which specifies system as stale or OFF the network for some period..

You could also remove the objects without a client and adjust the settings in the
Options tab of the Active Directory System Discovery Properties. By tweaking those options you can make sure that you're not discovering those old objects in the first place.

  • Data migration from an old SAP 4.7-system to an new ECC6.0 System

    Hello,
we have a reengineering-project, where we must migrate the old data from 4.7 to a new ECC6.0 system.
And it is not the same system.
Also there will be some data-mappings at the import.
For the import I thought the LSMW would be good. But how can I make the export??? Have you got an idea?
    Thanks.
    Sylvie

    Hi,
From an experience which I gained after working on same scenario as u stated i can suggest u to follow following 3 steps.
Step1 Extract data into flat file using some extraction report.
Step2 Mapping program which we call as conversion program which will map data field values with proposed new values
Step3 Upload program which we have used our case as BDC reports to upload data into new system. LSMW is not preferred one as while uploading u may come come across various scenarios which are really difficult to handle using LSMW. U can also use BAPI's to upload data.

  • Migrating from Essbase 7.1.6 to 9.1.3 that too to a new target server

    Hi,
We have ASO cubes on Essbase 7.1.6. We are upgrading to Essbase 9.1.3 on a new target server. We want to migrate the ASO cubes (along with data). We know that we can get the data migrated by doing export and import. But this doesn't seem to be feasible as ASO cubes are big in number as well as size (as we want to move all the historical ASO cubes). Is there any other way to get the data from ASO cubes to new target server (and that too on upgraded Essbase 9.1.3)?

Since in version 7 you had to rebuild ASO cubes from source data, I suggest you do the same for your migration. Version 7 did not have an export function for your ASO cubes and MDX or report scripts for that version would be extremely slow for large ASO cubes.

  • System Copy/ Oracle Backup/Restore as part of migrating from 32 to 64-bit

    Source system (I386): R3E47 Ext Set 2.00 SAP_BASIS 620 Kernel 640 Windows 2000, Oracle 10.2.0.4, non-unicode
    Target system (x86-64/AMD64): R3E47 Ext Set 2.00 SAP_BASIS 620 Kernel 640 Windows 2000 Oracle 10.2.0.4, non-unicode
Am using method System Copy/ Oracle Backup/Restore to migrate from 32 to 64 bit (HOM System Copy).
    Actions on source system:
    a) Upgrade from 9.2.0.7 to Oracle 10.2.0.4
    b) Used ora_br_copy.bat to generate CONTROL.SQL and init<sid>.ora
    c) Switched logfiles
    d) Performed offline backup
    Actions on target system:
    a) Installed Oracle 10.2.0.1 and patched it to 10.2.0.4
    b) Used CD 51033746 "6.20/6.40 based products Installation Master (Edition May 2008)" to install the CI
    c) Started installation of the DB instance selecting System Copy/ Oracle Backup/Restore (same <SID> for source and target systems)
    Relevant input parameters used:
    Database schema: SAPR3
    Database character set: US7ASCII
    d) When SAPINST stopped to allow for restoring of datafiles, logs and init<sid.ora>:
    - copied datafiles and logs to the usual place
    - copied CONTROL.SQL (edited to include utilrp.sql and utlrp.sql for the migration from 32 to 64) to the DB-instance intallation . directory.
    - copied generated init<SID>.ora to the <ORACLE_HOME>\database
    e) Resumed SAPINST.
David Byrne in a previous post suggested: "check your oracle alert file in case there are errors there you may need to update the word size for the 64bit install. Errors like this in the oracle alert file would suggest that.,
    ORA-12012
    ORA-06544: PL/SQL: internal error, arguments: [ORA-06544: PL/SQL: internal error, arguments: 56319], [, ], [, ], [, ], [
    ORA-06553"
Well, I am getting ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [56319] but then my edited CONTROL.SQL (which is mainly a CREATE CONTROLFILE as it would be obtained with a ...BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE) includes at the end this:
    shutdown immediate
    startup upgrade
    spool utlirp.log
    @?/rdbms/admin/utlirp.sql
    spool off
    Shutdown immediate
    Startup
    Spool utlrp.log
    @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
    Spool off
    exit
which is supposed to do just that... (I think)
    Help, anyone?

    > Trying to cheer me up, are you?
    No
    > It is NOT free that reorganization! Quite expensive, actually, paid for in time! But you're right... the database needed a reorg anyway :-\
True, not "free" - it takes time but the data will be nicely aligned then
    > And why would I have to reconfigure all those 10.2 features? Everything's either in the database or init<sid>.ora, ain't it? And my database is a pretty 10.2.0.4 with all those nice features already activated...
No - not really auotmatically if you upgraded from 9.2 And "init<SID>.ora" is past, you nowadays use "spfile" If, of course, e. g. Automatic Undo was activated in 9.2 then it's there of course in 10.2 too.
    > One sticky point... I haven't really read the r3load procedure yet and I will before I import, but... I would say I don't have to do anything about the 32->64 bit, right? I mean, it should behave properly while reloading on 64-bit...
The exported content is about 10 % of the size of the system, it's database and OS independent so yes, you can import it nicely on 32bit. Another tip: make sure you don't just use the default configurations for R3load, it will take a HUGE amount of time. Use the package splitter (builtin-in in sapinst) so you get a much higher parallelism when importing.

  • Aso cube size after migration to essbase 9.3.1

    Hy,
Our Aso cubes size after migration from essbase 7.1.2 to 9.3.1 are double and more.
    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thank you.

You could try Essbase Security Dumper (ESD), available for download on www.dougware.com. It will export users, groups, and filters into a text dump that is easily read/modified and updated to another server.
Caveats: only works with native security, and assigns random passwords to users that are created (a log file shows all upload tasks which can be used to look up the password assignments).
It may help, although it's obviously not going to eliminate all the effort, as I don't believe there is a tool that will migrate native passwords from one box to another.
There are other security tools available there that can help recover individual databases and such.

  • Migration from Stellent v7.g to UCM 11g - Configuration Migration Utility

    Hello,
I am in the process of planning a migration from the old Stellent 7.5 system to the new Oracle UCM 11g.
I keep hearing of a utility called "Configuration Migration Utility" to setup the 11g system with the same users, folders, metadata, etc... as the older Stellent system. Does anybody know where to find this utility? Is there a single tool that will "export" the configuration from my Stellent and import that configuration onto my 11g?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks!
    JDM

    Hi
CMU tool is a way to create the entire configuration bundle from 1 instance to the other .
This is a component that will be available from patchset 13526049 which is for CS 7.5
You will need to put this patchset on the 7.5 server and then from the option list select CMU which will then install the component on server .
For ucm 11g it is already installed on the server but disabled by default .
    Thanks

  • Essbase migration from system 7.x to 11.x system

    Hi,
    Please i need help !
I want to migrate the essbase applications from 7.x system to 11.x system not by using the wizard.
Just i want to do it using the batch script in windows environment.
Please send the script with one example.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you want to batch it up then you will can use Maxl to create the v11 app / db.
If you have security/filters you want to export then it is possible with maxl though you will have to play around with the format. All the maxl statements are available in the [tech ref|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_techref/launch.htm] so have a read. If that is too much of struggle then you could have a look at using the [advanced security manager|http://www.appliedolap.com/free-tools/advanced-security-manager] tool as that may help.
You will also be able to export / import the data using Maxl.
As for the database objects (otl,csc,rep,rul..) you can use windows command line to copy them.
I am not going to provide the script to do it as with a little reading of the tech ref you should be able to develop a script yourself, if you get stuck then there always help here to guide you on your way.
    Cheers

  • Essbase Migration from 6.5.7 to 11.1.1

    Hi
Please clarify me below two questions
    1) we are using Essbase 6.5.7 now our customer want to move from 6.5.7 to Essbase 11.1.1 can we do migration from V6 to V11 directly or we have to go from V6.5.7 to V9.3.1 to V11.1.1. what are the precautions we need to take care while doing migration.
    2) we have Essbase VBA API 6.5.7, can we move from 6.5.7 to 11.1.1 VBA API's. if it is yes then what are the precautions we need to take care while going form V6 to V11. some where i have read like performance of VBA API tools will be decreased. If yes what is the alternative.
    Thanks in advance.

    1) As of now, there is no direct upgrade option available from version 6 to 11. It is supported only from version 9 to 11. However, if it is only an essbase you can always go a fresh installation of system 11 and migrate your essbase cubes into 11 environment using migration wizard in EAS.

  • Data migration from legacy system to SAP

    hi all,
could you please post some docs on migration from legacy system to SAP system., also the problems faced while migration and best practices in data migration
    regards
    sridharan

    Hi ,
I require few details from you.
    1. What ETL tool you are using, If Informatica, it already have PowerConnect to connect to SAP. So you can create source and Target Structure and also you can use RFC's to send data to R/3. Else, for other ETL tools, can you prepare RFC's or any other way to send data to R/3. let me know the tool.
    2. Does R/3 contains the master data tables? If yes, then try to use LSMW for Mass upload of data to tables.
If your client don't want to use either of these options please elaborate, what is the case.
