Migration from MS Exchange 2003 to Mavericks Server

Can anyone recommend a migration path from MS Exchange 2003 to OS X Mavericks Server? The key features to be migrated and used with the new server are: email, contacts, calendar, group tasks management, file sharing.
Also, any hardware recommendation? Is Mac mini enough for a group of about 6-8 other Macs or could we benefit from the new Mac Pro? Perhaps an iMac (with a Fusion Drive)?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think you know the limitations — Exchange Server provides rather more than what Postfix and Dovecot do.
This is a generic Exchange Server to Postfix/Dovecot migration, which — in conjunction with the imapsync option — might find some other discussions.
For migrating from Exchange Server itself, AFAIK, no, there are no packaged tools for that available.   Tools such as imapsync can be used to migrate mail among imap servers, which can be an option here once imap is enabled on the Exchange Server, and once you know (or reset) all the passwords.  Or you can select all and then drag and drop the messages.
Slightly closer to Exchange Server in capabilities are the Zimbra and Kerio products.  Zimbra has migration tools, IIRC.
FWIW, please do not thread-jack, it just confuses the discussions — or at least it usually just ends up confusing readers.  This is a very different question from the original, and should be its own separate thread.

    Hello,
    We have two Exchange organisations:
    - A (Exchange 2003 SP2)
    - B (Exchange 2010)
we want to migrate from A to B. the two organisations have to coexist during the migration (6 months). during this time the users have to share the same GAL and Calendar (Busy/Free informations).
What are the steps to follow ?
is there any docs/links treat this subject ?

    Hi,
You can use FIM for GALSYNC.

  • Migrating from IIFP + Exchange 2003 to FIM + EXchange 2010

    Hello Everyone,
hope you can help me figure something out
i had an IIFP Galsync synchronising users and contacts between 2 exchange 2003 environment and now i would like to switch to fim 2010 and Exchange 2010,
from what i tried just exporting and importing the IIFP configuration to FIM 2010 works, but from what i know exchange 2003 is provisioned through vb code and exchange tools and exchange 2010 through remote powershell, is there anything to change in the
original galsync extension code to enable exchange 2010 provisioning ?
    thanks !!
    Hitch Bardawil

    Hi there Hitch
The old IIFP galsync solution is obviously deprecated now, so I understand why you are wanting to convert it - but there have been too many architectural changes made in each of the components you're targeting to make any kind of conversion exercise realistic.
It is not an overly complicated scenario to handle in FIM, and as you point out the Exchange 2010 platform integration point is totally different and is even built into the MA itself (see
Management Agent for Active Directory Global Address List (GAL)).  I suggest you have a trawl through old posts on Carol's blog
to read about her take on what you are trying to do.

  • How to migrate public folders from legacy (exchange 2003 ) to exchange 2010

How to migrate public folders from legacy (exchange 2003 ) to exchange 2010 . Please suggest ?
    Aditya Mediratta

    Hi Aditya,
    please find the answer in
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/agobbi/archive/2010/08/04/how-to-move-public-folder-from-exchange-2003-to-exchagne-2010.aspx
Please ensure you have a working mailflow from Exchange 2003 to 2010, vice versa, before you begin.
Basically it's the same procedure as adding some PF Database in E2K3; just
run .\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -server "Exchange 2010 Server" -TopPublicFolder "\" -ServerToAdd "Exchange 2010 Server"
Wait until some initial data started to replicate; after that run
    Update-PublicFolderHierarchy -Server "Exchange 2010 Server"
After replication has finished you can do a
.\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server "Exchange 2003 Server" -NewServer "Exchange 2010 Server"
Please let me know if it worked.
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
I assume you mean iplanet calendar server 5.1.1 to the latest calendar server (6.3). If so, I suggest you start by reading through the calendar server admin guide which goes through the steps involved and tools to use to migrate from 5.1.1 onto calendar server 6.3.

  • Exchange 2003 with Windows Server 2012 DC's only. Migrate to Exchange 2010.

    I have the following situation:
An Exchange 2003 SP2 server in an 2003 FFL and DFL domain with 2 Windows Server 2012 DC's. There are no Windows Server 2003 DC's anymore. Exchange 2003 is still functioning properly, but the eventlog is showing me some errors about LDAP which is unable to
    find an old 2003 DC.
I know this is not supported, so we want to migrate to Exchange 2010 as soon as possible.
What is the best way to do this? Will coexsitence still work? Do I have to add an 2003 DC's again?
    Please advice. Thank's in advance!

  • Exchange 2003 Stand Alone Server No Connection from Iphone and ActiveSync

We have a single Exchange 2003 Server SP2. We have a test user that has an iPhone and I have been trying to get it connected. Have tried everything I can think of, it always fails on creating the account with "Account Verification Failed" Please let me know what I can do to get this working. I have a BES and about 28 other users with Blackberry's all working.
    SC

    Hi SC,
Make sure the iPhone is updated. http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
How is the iPhone connecting to the Internet? Try testing over a local Wi-Fi network that the Exchange server is running on.
Also, you can try emailing the iPhone a configuration profile with security certificates. The iPhone Enterprise support has a configuration utility and a Deployment Guide which will help you verify configuration settings.

  • Changing the Default OAB from an Exchange 2003 server to an Exchange 2010

I am in the process of decommissioning my old Exchange 2003 servers. All mailboxes have been moved over to Exchange 2010. I already have OABs and Public Folders created on the Exchange 2010 servers. Since I see the "Default Offline Address List",
which is pointing to my old Exchange 2003 server and the Default OAB is set to "True", can I just make an existing Exchange 2010 OAB the "Default OAB"? I have read that I have to perform a move on the "Default Offline Address List"
    OAB. Is this required?
    thanks
    Noe

Configure the Exchange 2010 mailbox databases to use the Exchange 2010 OAB, and leave the Exchange 2003 databases alone.  You can delete the old OAB just before taking the Exchange 2003 servers out of production.  The "Default" setting
means the OAB is the one that's assigned by default when you create a new mailbox database, so yes, you should set that.

  • Migration from MS Access 2003

    Hello,
I'm very new to MS SQL Server; I just downloaded Express 2005 yesterday.  I have it up and running; it seems to be working fine.
Now onto business - I need to migrate data from existing MS Access 2003.  How, exactly, do I do this?  I've tried searching MSDN, TechNet, and here, and while I get results that seem to tell part of the story, I don't seem to get a true "How to" for this task.
Can someone please assist me with this?

  • Will the email client on my MacBook Pro remove mail from my Exchange 2003 in order to receive it?

I just received my new MacBook Pro yesterday and I have an Exchange 2003 server that I would like to work with the email client. now I know some email clients in certain modes will download the mail from the mail server removing it from there at the same time. My question is will the email client remove the mail from the server in order to receive it? I want the mail to remain in the mailbox so I will still have it available at my office later. I am honestly not certain what version of OS X it is, and I don't have it handy, but I just bought it last week. Thanks!

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
    If that fails:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • MS Exchange 2003 and IIS Server

I recently purchased the 3gs with the understanding it would sync through MS Exchange at my work. Below is what my IT people say is the problem. does anyone understand this and how to solve it"
"The difficulty is actually the same problem we’ve had before with active sync and it’s not an iphone issue but an issue with the exchange configuration. We do not have a front end IIS server in our exchange 2003 environment but on the same box as exchange. That being said there is a known issue with setting up active sync to work properly with out either adding a front end IIS or hacking up the registry as a possible work around on the exchange box which could actually hose the system and bring email down in which we would have to start from scratch. Maybe I could look again after July 1st but right now researching another way could take a while".

There's nothing you can do to fix this specific issue since, as your own IT folks say, it's not a problem with the iPhone. If it's a problem with their Exchange server setup as they say, that's something only they can fix and you'll have to wait until they do.
If, however, they have the mail server set up to provide IMAP accounts, you could be able to set up your iPhone to connect to it following the instructions for connecting to a "normal" email account (the "other" option in the Mail setup).

  • Error while migrating from ms access 2003 db to oracle 10g in sqldeveloper

    Hello,
i am working on migration project from MS access 2003 to Oracle 10g on windows XP sp2 plateform using SQL developer.
it went quit smoothly till the "capture microsoft access" .so in this step the sql developer opens the access db in background... but while opening the file in background it gives error
Object library not registered i tried many workaround but of no use..
anybody's help in this regard would be well appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi,
Did you follow all the steps in the SQL*Developer documentation about preparing the Access database for migration -
    Oracle® SQL Developer User’s Guide Release 3.0 -
2.2.4.3 Before Migrating From Microsoft Access
    and -
Oracle® SQL Developer Supplementary Information for Microsoft Access Migrations Release 3.0
2.4 Preparing the Microsoft Access Database for Capture
The error also indicates there may be a problem with your Access installation so could you check that everything is okay with that ? I have found references that indicate a re-install of Office/Access will prevent the error.
