Migration help please

Am using migration to move my data and setting from old mac to new.i have more than 150gb information to move using wireless,when he start,he said 70hours left... is this the real time for migration? any other fast way? can i just plug in an Ethernet cable?
can i stop and redo the migration later? i cant wait this hours..it too much

probably enter target mode and use a firewire cable to connect the two will work better.

Yes i have 5 hard drives in my mashine but that shouldn't make a diffrence
When the system boots the drives are visable though Finder.
I can access them fine.
They just don't show up in the Migration Assistant.
On my old system i had superduper set to backup every night.
Before this upgrade i did update superduper to the supported Snowleapord version and did a full upgrade with that just to make sure.
But seeing how the migration assistant don't see the internal drive of firewire drive makes me question what the heck is going on.
I keep leaning twords it being a server setup maybe the client migration dosnt see a server install. Thats my only guess until i get home and tinker with it more.
Realy stumped...
and with emmys this weekend i realy need to get this up with the little amount of time i have its making it difficult.
Might jsut have to keep using my backup drive for the next week or so until i can figure it out.. dame...

Slow boot time after migration - Help please!??

Over the weekend, I migrated the data from my Mac to my new MacBook Pro. The pro is now very slow, 5+ minutes, to boot. I am running OS X 10.9.5, Boot ROM Version MBP112.0138.B07, SMC Version 2.19f12.
I had taken all the junk off my Mac before the migration, but now I have two users, both me, and need help getting rid of one and trouble shooting the slow boot issue. Any ideas/suggestions?

Hi you may have startup or login items that are slowing down the boot process. In system preferences./accounts/login items. You can uncheck them. Or if they are items you no longer use. Issues with a email server migration - URGENT HELP PLEASE

Hi,
My online company uses TB and we recently changed our email server provider to resolve a serious problem we were having with the previous one. Both servers (old and new) are IMAP.
The problem is that since we have made this server migration we are having a lot of strange things happening on TB such as:
1. When I mark a email read I can no longer mark it as unread. I've tried to click on the little ball, to select 'Mark as unread' by clicking on the right side of the mouse, etc and nothing!
2. When I reply and forward an email the reply and forward arrow is not showing up so sometimes we don't know what emails have been done
3. Sometimes the emails are sent and don't show up in the sent folder. So we need to put our own email in BCC to be sure that they have been answered.
The guy who organised the server migration suggested us to move to outlook, but outlook is not resolving the problem either. On top of that it makes our computers as slow as snails. I'm on a free trial with outlook that will expire in two days and I want to go back to TB as I find it much easier and straight forward.
Has anyone have a similar issue? Can someone HELP please?

Thanks for your help Brij011 - much appreciated. Apologies as I'm a newbie but I've looked at the info for synching and I appear to have all the switches flicked on my iPad. Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. I could sync ok when books was in iTunes but since migrating to Mavericks I think I'm doing something wrong!!

Help please deploying Crystal Decisions 10 to Microsoft 2008 R2 IIS 7

Folks, I need your help please. We've been using Crystal Decisions 10 with MS Server 2003. We're migrating to a VM envirionment with MS Server 2008 R2. I have everything working except for our crystal reports. We are a mostly an ASP Classic enviroment.
When the report is called it opens, the SP query does not fail but the data does not show in the activex viewer. If there is a tree view associated with the report, you can see the expandable data points on the left but the report does not actually appear. No errors are apparent either.
This thing is killing my production. Any help would be greatly appreaciated!

I really doubt that you will ever get this working. As Sastry mentioned, CR 10 did not support MS Server 2008 R2. The only version of CR (using classic ASP) to support anything close (WIN 7) was CR XI R2 (v. 11.5.x), Service Pack 6. See the following wiki for more details:

For CR XI R2 SP 6 and WIN 7 I wrote a small blog - essentially collating info reported by customers on how to get ASP working - on WIN 7 (sometimes this works, other times...). See:

Please note that both CR 10.x and 11.5.x are out of support (have been for years). My recommendation, understanding that porting the app to more recent versions of CR and either the .NET or Java SDK is not possible:
Update to CR XI R2 and keep your fingers crossed. Your chances of getting this to work CR 10 are pretty well zero. Your chance of getting this to work with CR XI R2 SP 6 are better, but still approaching zero. You may be able to obtain CR XI R2 by calling sales (866-681-3435) or check the Worldwide Office Locations | SAP.
Last note. If you do manage to get CR XI R2, please so keep in mind that:
1) CR XI R2 is no longer supported.
2) You will be using CR XI R2 in an unsupported environment (Server 2008).

Help please! Also, I still don't understand exactly what the benefits are. At the moment it seems a lot of hassle to change a system that's been working perfectly well and that I'm very happy with. I'm not at all sure whether the mac mini (1.66 GHz INtel Core Duo) can be brought up to the relevant spec to run ICloud. Any thoughts?

There are two aspects to iCloud. One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud. The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration). If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7). Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address. You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

New MPB - iPod shows up in Finder but not in iTunes. Help please!

I just completed a 95% successfull migration from my old MPB to my new MPB. iTunes seems to work fine, sees all my music and I have authorized the new mac to play the music.
However, when I connect either of my two ipods I get the same result - it does not show up in iTunes but immediately shows up in Finder. Given the same thing happens with both ipods I suspect there is some silly little setting I have to go through. Can anybody help please?
The MBP is a brand new 13" with the smaller processor. The iPods are a 2nd generation 40Gb and the 120Gb Classic.

So I ended up reinstalling iTunes. That almost solved it, but when I also restored the iPods it seems to be OK.
Must say I'm disappointed that a brand new Mac behaves this way (and ironically it did not even have the latest software installed...).

Warning of email suspension help please

I am having the same problem as a lot of other people on here with only 16 days left before my account is suspended, I keep logging in and out via the bt page but the warnings on my main account and 3 sub accounts are still there, after reading on here I am really worried and would like some help please.

My BT Yahoo accounts were migrated to BT Mail on 09/07/2014, but were migrated back to BT Yahoo some days later, where they remain working to this day.
The suspend messages (that coincidentally say 'your email was last used on 09/07/2014') relate to the migrated BT Mail mailboxes (they are not accessible from the BT mail accounts page), and were due to be suspended 90 days after the migration date (mine said 07/10/2014). I ignored the messages, and they disappeared after that date. My BT Mail mailboxes are still listed in my BT mail accounts page, and they remain inaccessible.
My BT Yahoo mailboxes are fine, they get little use as I've migrated my emails to other email addresses.

How much content do you have in current hosting? Do you have any custom solutions deployed? It depends on what kind of hosting package you have. You can take complete backup if you have access to this functionality and then restore in new hosting. Hosting
companies help users in setting up sites. There are different options. You can setup sharepoint on amazon and then use third party software to copy sites to new location. Delete sites from rackspace after the migration is over.

One of you will need to migrate to a separate iCloud account, then you can delete the other person's data from each account.
To migrate to a new account, start by saving an photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll to your camera roll. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing errow), then tap Save to Camera Roll. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted, provide the account password to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted, then sign in with a different Apple ID to create the new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
You can then each to to your iCloud accounts on icloud.com from your computer and delete the other person's data from your account.

Huge Loss, help, please

Hi. 2 days ago my 51/2 year old hard drive in my intel imac died completely. Today I managed to replace the drive (upgrade to 2 terabytes) and after doing so, used time capsule to restore my system. Thought that worked well, however aside from my screen appearance, everything was faulty. no programs worked, could not get to itunes...photos...etc. I ran disk utility and had so many verify errors that it crashed after 15 minutes. Figured this was not good, so I re-installed snow leopard with the intent to just bring back individual pieces of my previous system. Well, the time capsule is EMPTY!! there is no more "brett's Data" or anything, it is like the capsule started from scratch too. I have years of family photos supposedly "safe" on that thing somewhere. That's what I care about most. My itunes are lost too, but they can be repurchased. Help, please.

I understand you're peeved, but until we know a bit more about what's going on, there's not much we can do to help.
First, just how did you restore? Did you do use the +Restore System From Backup+ option, from the Utilities menu when starting up? See #14 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
Or did you install OSX, then use +Setup Assistant+ when your Mac first started up? See #19 in the FAQ.
Or did you install OSX, create a user account, then use the +Migration Assistant+ app in your Applications/Utilities folder?
What version of OSX are you running?
Did you try the procedure in #E3?

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.
If you need a later version of Safari you must first upgrade your operating system to a later version of OS X.
