Migration Kit

Hello friends!
From where do I get the two folders,
1) com.sap.j2ee.migration.kit_1.0.X (which MUST contain a plugin.xml)
- the plugin logic
2) com.sap.j2ee.migration.kit.websphere_1.0.X
- WebSphere specific part of the plugin
I don't need the second folder, but a JBoss specific part of the plugin.
Please tell me from where I can get these folders and also tell me what to do with these folders and how to use the migration kit to migrate from JBoss-4.2.0 to WAS-6.4. I need to deploy an existing .ear file in to WAS6.4 which was previously deployed in JBoss-4.2.0.
Please help me with the procedure.
ThankYou.

  • J2EE Migration Kit available!!!

As all of you experienced SDN forum guys may already have heard it through the grape vine, SAP announced the publishing of the so-called J2EE Migration Kit. This collection of documentation, methodology and best practices will support you when migrating J2EE applications to the SAP NetWeaver Application Server.
Well, here it is … just in time before you start enjoying your well deserved Christmas holidays. Feel free to deliver any input in this matter. This is the appropriate forum to do so! You J2EE developers: post your questions to the forum and thereby benefit from the J2EE expertise in the forum!
You J2EE masters: post the gained experiences with the Migration Kit to the forum and thereby share this knowledge with your community!
Have fun … and watch for those post-its of yours

    Hi Bjoern,
currently the J2EE Migration Kit is not completely available for public download. As you may have noticed, instead of the J2EE Migration Kit contact page proposes to contact your local SAP sales representative or to write an e-mail:
<i>If you want to do a migration please contact your local SAP sales representative to discuss next steps. If you want to do a migration and you do not yet have a SAP sales representative as your normal contact to SAP, please send an e-mail to [email protected] A local SAP sales representative will contact you in the next couple of working days.</i>
We can shorten this procedure and contact you

  • Does theJ2EE migration kit support migrating from Oracle9 iAS?

    Hi,
We currently have an application based on Oracle9 iAS.
    1) Does the J2EE migration kit support migrating from Oracle J2EE to SAP J2EE?
    2) If the answer is NO and since the documentation doesn't mention Oracle, I am wondering if SAP is planning on including support for migrating from Oracle too?
    Regards,
    Tobi

    Hello Anirban,
what kind of projects are you trying to migrate to NWDS?
The Migration Kit (Plug-In) in its surrent version supports migration of projects from IBM, JBoss, BEA to SAP - on the same Java EE technology stack level! If you want to migrate SAP 6.40 (J2EE 1.3) projects to SAP CE (Java EE 5), there is a support in the SAP NWDS to do that. You can start importing your "old" projects by saying "migrate projects" in the import statement of the IDE.
    Try it out!
In case you should encouner difficulties, shoot me a mail!
    Cheers, Goran

  • Possible migration(Heterogeneous system copy) combination

    Dear all
Currently we're planning to do Heterogeneous system copy
from the following source(current system) and target.
    Source : R/3 4.6C + Oracle 8.1.7 on AIX 4.3.3
    Target : R/3 4.6C + Oracle 10.2 on Windows 2003
For the target system, i checked the PAM in Service Marketplace
and it seems that R/3 4.6C + Oracle 10.2 on Windows 2003 is supported.
But i'm not sure whether this source - target combination is possible
    in Heterogeneous system copy.
To summarize, here are 2 questions.
    1) Where can i find Heterogeneous system copy combination?
(OS/DB combination which supports Heterogeneous system copy in R/3 4.6C)
    2) Is the above Source - Target combination is possible?
    Best Regards.
    Ahn

    > Source : R/3 4.6C + Oracle 8.1.7 on AIX 4.3.3
    > Target : R/3 4.6C + Oracle 10.2 on Windows 2003
Yes - this is possible and supported. But keep in mind:
    - you must have a certified migration consultant doing the migration. If you do it on your own, you'll loose support for problems during the migration and for the target system --> SAP will bill help (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ)
    - 4.6c is out of general support; you may need to buy extended support to get the migration kit

  • ATG Migration 9_1 to 10_1

To Do ATG Migration from 9.1p4 t0 ATG 10.1.1 commerce platform
After reviewing the migration document following is my understanding on how to do successful migration
         1. My exitising application is running on ATG9.1p4 with all the OOTB and custom data in it
              - I execute startExportRepository command to export and create an xml file of my entire data [There will be multiple files depending on schema - Pub, Core, Cata, Catb]
         2. Once the existing data is exported, I run the update/add scripts as mentioned in document for ATG 10.0 and then to ATG 10.1
         3. Execute startImportRepository to import all the data to the db that is now having ATG 10.1 schema.
My question is what happens to my exiting schema and data from ATG 9.1 ? Do I create a new schema for 9.1 and then run the migration scripts or Do I run on the existing data ? If so, what about the custom tables that I created for 9.1 ?

    Hi ,
Its always better to practice migration on a copy of your original schema , so that you can be sure that your application runs smoothly , and any mistake can be corrected :
1- You may not need to backup all your data , only backup what the migration guide says.
2- custom tables - it depends on what you have customized and how much , best bet will be to migrate as per migration guide , and then start the server and look out for errors in server console , then fix them as required.
once your are sure of all changes you need , document and do it on your original data.
migration from 9 to 10 is going to be tricky - multisite - pricing - promotion changes , yeah but it will be very easy from 10 to 10.1
Answer to your question - as your are migration your 9.1 schema - and running scripts on same schema - the same schema and your custom tables will be used for 10.1 , your do not need to export and backup everything , migration scripts are written in such a way to avoid that, else it wont be a migration - it will be a new database installation.
    other useful points :
1- Use .bat/.sh files of migration kit , they run scrips in proper order.
2- open the scrips in a text editor and go through it , sometimes important comments are written inside them like which tables to backup before running them.

  • Migration from weblogic6.1 to OC4J

    Hi,
We are evaluating OC4J to migrate our application (EJB2.0). Currently we are evaluating weblogic6.1 too. We have 66 local entity beans and 7 session Facade(for those local Entities) beans. It's perfectly working with weblogic.
Here I would like to mention that OC4J talks NOTHING about how to specify OC4J-specific XML descriptors. 'How to create EJB2.0' compatible stuff are already provided by SUN & co. OC4J-docs must also say how to deploy it into OC4J. HOW CAN "OC4J" EXPECT THE DEVELOPER TO START EASILY TO MIGRATE FROM another APP-SERVER?
Allright, this is the problem we are facing after INVENTING some of "how to specify OC4J-specific XML descriptors" on our own. Please correct me if anything is incorrect.
When we tried to deploy into OC4J, we couldn't invoke local entity beans using JNDI lookup.
Weblogic gives two tags "jndi-name" & "local-jndi-name" to specify JNDI names of remote & local respectively.
Orion has only one 'location=' attribute to specify JNDI location for a bean, for Entity beans presumably it takes for remote-beans, even if I don't specify any remote home/interfaces.
OC4Js 'How-To: Implement Local Interfaces' says that we need to have 'ejb-local-ref' in each referring ejb. In that case I've to create atleast 50 'ejb-local-ref' tags in each of my 7 session beans. Is that really OK?.
I would like to know whether there is any way of specifying JNDI names for local CMP's in one place, not in all other referring EJBs.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sasikumar.

    Hi Sasikumar,
In order to fully understand your situation, please answer the following
    questions:
    1. Are you using the latest, standalone, production version of OC4J
    (version 9.0.2.0.0)?
    2. Are you using Java 2 SDK version 1.3.1_02?
    3. Are you using Windows2000?
    4. Are you using the latest, production version of JDeveloper 9i?
    5. Have you read the documentation for OC4J -- available from
    http://tahiti.oracle.com
    6. Do you know about the "BEA to Oracle Migration Kit"?
    http://www.oracle.com/consulting/start/BEAmigration/intro.html?src=1260040&Act=8
    and
    http://technet.oracle.com/products/ias/pdf/weblogic_migration.pdf
    7. Do you know about these other, OC4J related web sites:
    http://www.orionserver.com
    http://www.orionsupport.com
    http://www.atlassian.com
    http://www.elephantwalker.com
    8. Do you know about these tools for automatically creating EJB related
    files (including XML deployment descriptors)
    http://beust.com/cedric/ejbgen/
    http://opensource.itplus.dk/EJBCreator/index.html
    http://www.myhtg.com/product.html
So if you haven't exhausted all of the above, I suggest you do so
before throwing a tantrum about OC4J. If you have exhausted the above,
and you still can't work with OC4J, then I suppose you could always
just stick with BEA (couldn't you :-)
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Requirement For Migration Project

    Dear All,
We have a requirement to migrate a project into ATG 10.1 which was developed in ATG 9.0.
    Please provide some information ASAP.
    Regards,
    Ram

What information do you require ASAP????
The migration kits are available by following:
All patches, fixpacks and migration kits have been migrated to MOS. Here are the rough steps that you or customers may use to access these:
    1.     - In MOS or ISP, go to the Patches & Updates tab
    2.     - In the Patch Search panel, click on Product or Family (Advanced)
    3.     - Start typing the Product name "Oracle ATG Web" and that should auto-filter the results to the ATG products.
    4.     - Select the appropriate patch(es) from the list
    5.     - Select the Release that you are interested in (e.g. 9.3)
    6.     - Click Search to see the list of matching patch sets
    7.     - Click on the patch you want and you should be able to view its Readme or Download it.
The migration kits are listed with the target release, so the 10.0.1 migration kits are visible if you search for 10.0.1.

  • Upgrade & OS DB Migration

    Hi All
We are planning to Upgrade SAP R/3 4.7 System on AIX 5.2/Oracle 9.x to ECC 6.0  Unicode with  Windows 2008 Server/MS-SQLServer2008 . My Query is what is the Best approach here
    a) STEP 1 Upgrade 4.7 on Temp AIX Server  to ECC 6.0 on AIX Non-Unicode
STEP 2 Unicode Migration ,OS & DB Migration to Target ECC 6.0 Unicode on Windows 2008Server/SQLServer  as Unicode &
OS DB migration process is same
    b) STEP 1 Perform the OS & DB Migration First ( 4.7 AIX/Oracle to 4.7 Windows 2008 Server/MS-SQLServer)
STEP 2 Perform the Combined Unicode & Upgrade
In this case is a Migration Kit available for Migrating to 4.7 first of all ?
Please suggest the best option with Pro's & Con's
    Regards
    Deepak

    Hi Deepak,
point a) is the highly prefered option here.
You can make use of the standard CU&UC approach (with OS/DB migration included).
In case of b), you need to do the export/import procedure twice (once for migration and then a second time for Unicode conversion. This will require much more overall downtime (maybe two weekends which means double testing).

  • Migrating image database in Informix 9.21 to Oracle 9i

I am going to be migrating an image database from Informix 9.21 to Oracle 9i and am needing to know
what Oracle9i has to offer as far as options in storing large media types - image, video, audio, etc...
Specifically, does Oracle have anything comparable to Informix' smart blobspace? Is it possible to migrate
image data from Informix to Oracle? I know the migration kits only are available up to Informix version 7.
    What does interMedia offer?

    Hi,
I was unable to reproduce your problem. I carried out the following steps in attempt to replicate the issue:
    1. I launched the workbench, version 10.1.0.2, selecting the Oracle Lite "Default Repository".
    2. Using the Oracle Enterprise Manager Console, I created a user "rtdb" with the password "rtdb" on my target Oracle 9i database.
    3. I captured a test Informix database, generating its source and oracle models.
    4. I then proceeded to migrate the database to Oracle and supplied my target Oracle9i database information in the "Migration Wizard, Step 1 of 4: Destination Database Details", supplying rtdb/rtdb as the username/password.
    5. My test database migrated with no such error messages reported.
If you carried out the migration steps as I have outlined above, and are still experiencing issues with a "Failed to connect" error, I would contact support.
    Regards,
    Hilary
